Chapter 6
Six Months Later
He couldn't find them, they were gone. The blame for the murders had shifted, The Wyatt Family had been forgotten. But Aaron Chase knew it was them. In the months that had passed since Chase's encounter with the madmen, he was reassigned to a new case in Chicago. While in Chicago, Chase continued his attempt to track down The Wyatts. Unfortunately, his attempts resulted in his being suspended from the force until The Lafayette Murders were solved.
Fear. He felt nothing but fear. As Aaron sat in the dark room all he felt was fear. But this wasn't the fear he normally felt, it wasn't fear for his life or for his family or for someone close to him. This was an all new type of fear. As he pondered on this new feeling, he couldn't help but notice his reflection in the mirror of the motel room bathroom. He had let himself go considerably. He had grown a rather large, scraggly beard that in fact resembled the beard of the three prominent Wyatt family members. He looked at himself in disgust. You fucking idiot, you couldn't even catch him when he was three feet in front of you! Chase screamed to himself, in the dark confines of his own, failing mind.
Madness. Maybe that's what he feared. Perhaps he feared slipping into the never-ending comatose state known as madness. He closed his eyes, clenching his fists tightly, trying to shake the idea of slipping into madness from his mind. He wouldn't let that happen,he couldn't let that happen. The machine had held him back for six months, maybe now it was time for him to finally make a stand. He knew it was time to break away from the machine. He could catch the Wyatt Family, and now he had the perfect idea. For the first time in six months, time was on his side.
