Hello my peeps… long time no see, er write… no read… whatever. You get what I mean. I planned on updating like a month ago but was once again whisked off to LA. Then, my sister was hospitalized. Also, work is crazy. But, hey, I'm here now. Ok, so, I wrote this on my iPod because I got tired of waiting for my new laptop to arrive (Fedex totally lost it and it had to be replaced) so please excuse any weird capitalization issues that there might be. Now that my computer is here I will finally start updating more consistently (or at least less sporadically), so rejoice, my fellow BBRae fans!
I do not own teen titans… as of this moment, but I will. Oh, yes I will. Just you wait. (evil smirk)
Chapter 7
Beast Baby
Raven sat alone in her room for what seemed like hours. She'd left the pizza shop as soon as she'd been able to do so without raising suspicion. The truth of the matter was that that cop had shaken her up, no matter how much she tried to hide it. What made things worse was that Beast Boy had seemed to pick up on her anxiety and wouldn't stop looking at her. She'd finally snapped and told him to stop staring at her, and he'd looked away sadly, making Raven feel guilty after how he'd defended her. She had apologized to Beast Boy for snapping at him, and said she was going home to meditate. No one had stopped her, and Beast Boy had had the sense for once to leave her alone. Now she was lying on her bed, in her dark room, wishing he'd followed her so she wouldn't have to be alone.
Raven silently cursed herself as she sat up indignantly at the thought of wanting Beast Boy's company. She thought about the concern he'd shown for her when she'd freaked out over the cop with the long silver hair.
That cop had seriously freaked her out. One moment she was looking at a group of what appeared to be normal cops, and the next, one of the cops had caught her attention. Her heart nearly stopped as he made eye contact with her. His eyes were a deep blood red, not only that, there were four of them. She blinked in shock and found herself staring at a normal young man once more, but even then, she hadn't been able to get rid of a prickly sensation on the back of her neck. That cop was bad news, and she wondered just how long that news would take to get to them.
Raven shuddered one last time before changing her thoughts back to Beast Boy. He had been watching her with a worried face, just like he had done later at the pizza place. Beast Boy cared about her and she yelled at him for it. She let out a long sigh, she would have to make it up to him somehow, but it would have to be in some way that didn't make Beast Boy think she was going soft on him.
She let out another sigh and at that precise moment there was a loud knock on the door. She jumped, startled by the sudden noise but quickly composed herself before opening the door. Beast Boy was waiting on the other side with a huge smile plastered across his face. He was holding a tray with a teacup and a small sprig of lavender on the side.
"Its chamomile, prepared it myself" he beamed proudly up at her. She looked at the teacup for a second, then her eyes slowly wandered down to the hands holding the tray and her eyes widened almost imperceptibly in surprise, but not quite. He noticed where her eyes were looking and chuckled lightly, "Heh, guess I need to learn how to pour water without spilling. You would think a superhero could make a pot of tea without burning themselves." His hands were red and splotchy, and the color looked strange against the green of the rest of his skin. He walked into Raven's room without waiting to be asked and set the tray down on her bedside table.
"Most heroes can," Raven said as she reached for his hands. He winced at the contact, but then her hands were covered in a bright blue light as she began to heal him, and he relaxed as the pain was taken away.
While she held his hands with her own, Beast Boy looked her in the eye and waggled his eyebrows in what he thought was a seductive way, "couldn't keep your hands off the beast man forever, now could you? no one blames you, Iamirresistible."
Raven raised an eyebrow at him and let go of his hands. They dropped to his sides and the pain immediately came back as the partially healed burns came into contact with his jeans. He groaned in pain and she smirked at him. "Thought you were The Beast Man, not Beast Baby," she added when he let out a whimper, but she took his hands back into her own to finish the healing process.
Beast Boy looked relieved and thought about saying something, but decided to wait until his hands were completely healed to speak.
The blue glow finally died out and beast boy held onto Raven's hands tightly. "I'm not a baby, but if you like you can call me that, I kinda like how it sounds, Beast Baby," he paused and then added in a lower voice, "but just as long as I get to give you a pet name too." He winked at her with a slightly crooked grin.
Raven scowled and pulled her hands away, completely hiding the fact that her stomach had fluttered when he held her hands, and at the thought of calling him baby, even though she knew she'd never do that. Calling older people baby was weird to her. "How did you even burn your hands so badly, anyway? I doubt pouring tea would result in both your hands being burned, or at least to that extent." She asked coldly.
Beast Boy blushed a spectacular shade of red. "Uh, I kinda forgot the tea kettle would be hot and I grabbed it from the sides. Then I dropped it on the counter when I got burned and the water splashed out over my hands."
Raven nodded, that sounded just like Beast Boy. She sighed dramatically, "so... What did you want?"
"I brought you tea as an apology."
"Apology? I'm the one who should apologize. After how you defended me, I snapped at you. You were just concerned about me and I overreacted. I'm sorry Beast Boy." It took a lot out of her to admit to him that she felt badly at the way she'd treated him. She hadn't planned on apologizing at all. She had just wanted to make it up to him somehow so that he wouldn't go back to thinking she hated him. But Beast boy had come to apologize for whatever he thought he'd done wrong this time, and she decided she should let him know she was sorry as well.
"Uh... That's okay. Actually, I'm sorry about earlier, on the roof."
The roof? what happened on the roof? Raven looked confused for a split second before she realized what he meant. oh. "Oh, that."
"Yes, that."
" I have nothing to forgive you for."
"But... Aren't you still mad at me? You know... For wetting you."
"I'm not mad at you beast boy, I don't think I ever was. Especially not for wetting me back. Don't dish it out if you can't take it. You were just doing to me what I did to you."
"Then, why'd you leave the roof?"
She frowned, "I don't want to talk about it," mainly because she didn't know why she'd gotten upset. Was it because they had talked about her demon heritage? or because she'd actually started to enjoy her little fight with beast boy. She would never admit it to him, but she enjoyed the attention, even though at the same time it annoyed her. How was it possible to enjoy something and find it completely irritating at the same time? She couldn't for the life of her figure it out. She sighed, "look, I just want to be alone for a bit, okay?"
Beast boy nodded and he let her close her door. He remained standing there for a few minutes, he would figure Raven out some day, that was a promise he was determined to keep. He knew he had the motivation to keep trying. He would never quit until she opened up to him. And then he would make her like him, like he did her. He frowned, he liked her? That much? oh my god, I have a crush on raven, he thought, she is so totally going to kill me if she finds out.
What will happen next? Will Raven find out and kill beast boy? Does Raven like him back? And again, where the heck is Trigon? All these questions and more will be answered in the next installment of The Return of Trigon the Terrible. Make sure to review and ask for the next chapter. I like it when you beg. Mwaa! Ha! Ha! (continues evil laugh until it is interrupted by a violent coughing fit) No, really, please review, even if you also PM me. BTW, anyone who wants can PM me, no need to apologize for it, (you know who you are).
