Chapter 7
Usui stared at Misaki as she, frustrated, clutched her head in her hands and hunched over.
"Arghh, this is so frustrating! I finally remember stuff but not why I potentially lost my memory!" She exclaimed.
Usui rubbed her back. "Come on Misa-chan,you at least remember everything else. That's an improvement on itself. "
She sighed. " I guess."
She just sat in a the chair and kept quiet, probably still trying to remember.
Usui laughed quietly and her head skit up as she gave him a death glare that probably had people whimpering in fear, but he just found it,strangely adorable.
"Sorry, I just didn't think that it'd be this easy to regain even 30% of your memory and here you ate still dissatisfied." He teased.
Her cheeks turned red. " Shut up. Its really frustrating okay?"
" I'm sure it is, but you just worrying about it will not really do anything except frustrate you even more. "
Misaki grudgingly looked away.
"It's getting pretty late," he said looking out of the window. " Lets get something to eat."
"What about Hisashi-san?"
" He's usually asleep by now whenever he has early morning meetings," he opened the door and gallantly bowed down gesturing to the hall. " After you, mademoiselle."
She gave him a flustered glare as her cheeks flared red and she stomped out. Usui chuckled at her and followed.
They walked in silence for a while after they finished eating, navigating through the crowd on the streets. Misaki was deep in thought.
All she could remember was Hiyoko asking Misaki to marry Tora and him bugging her about it. She had obviously declined. And that's it. Her thoughts drifted to her sister.
Suzuna was now all alone at the mansion with Hiyoko and Tora. She must be really worried about Misaki as well. And stupid Hiyoko, trying to make her sound like an attention seeking brat in the newspapers. Would Suzuna believed her? No, of course she wouldn't, Suzuna hated the 'hag' anyways so-
"Thief! Help! Somebody stop him!"
Just as the cry rang out, a man bumped into her roughly and ran past. Usui steadied her and noticed that the guy was carrying a huge handbag and a woman behind was crying hysterically for help. Misaki suddenly darted out of his grasp and dashed after the man.
"Misa-Chan!" he looked after her incredulously and ran after her.
He was right behind her as she caught up with the thief and grabbed his collar. The thief struggled wildly and ended up elbowing her hard . The breath was knocked out of her and she stumbled slightly. The guy slipped out of her fingers and tried to run again but Usui tripped him and he went sprawling on the ground.
"Are you alright?" Usui asked looking back at her.
"Of course. Nothing I can't handle," she scoffed even though her side was burning.
He grinned. "Oh really?"
The woman whose purse was stolen caught up to them and thanked them profusely after picking up her bag and calling the police. After she left,Usui stared at Misaki as she slowly massaged her sides. "What?" She asked when she saw him looking.
He took a step towards her, and she took one step back slowly. He took another and another trapping her against the wall and leaning in close as she desperately tried to maintain some distance between them.
"Wh-what," she stuttered,"are you doing you per-OW!"
He had slightly pressed her sides and the burning pain she had been feeling intensified. She hissed and tried pushing him away but he caught her arm and examined her wrists where the thief had scratched her. "This doesn't look alright Misa-chan"
"Get away, you perverted outer space alien!"
He laughed and grabbing her shoulder steered her away into a store where he bought a few band aids and an ice pack. He could tell that she was slightly limping while walking because of her side.
"Come on , there's a park on the way home, why don't we sit there for a while?"
Misaki grudgingly nodded her head. The pain was starting to get worse the more she walked.
He helped her a little as they made their way to a small playground and sat down on the swings.
Misaki groaned in relief as she sat down and Usui smirked. "Serves you right for jumping in spontaneously without thinking"
"Well what was I supposed to do?" She snapped. "He was getting away."
Usui laughed and started placing the band aids on her wrists after giving her the ice pack for her side.
"You're like a knight in shining armour",he teased.
"Shut up,"she blushed."I was just trying to help. Anyone would do that."
He finished applying the band aids and sat down on the swing next to her, staring at her face while smiling. "I'm not so sure.."
"Huh?"
"You're very different from the girls that I have known till now, Misa-chan."
"I will take that as a compliment," she said primly.
He laughed. " It is ."
She glanced at him. "What do you mean?"
He stared straight ahead. "Well..I'm sure you've been to many of the fundraisers and parties that I'm usually forced to go to?"
"Well yeah."
"Yeah you know all those girls from rich families that attend?"
She made a face. " I never really spoke to most of them."
"I understand ," he grinned.
" I guess my parents raised me and Suzuna different," she said softly. " Hiyoko and Tora actually liked those situations more than us."
"Seems difficult to have lived with them." He joked.
"It wasn't as bad as Hiyoko though. Until the end."
"What happened."
She snorted. " Hiyoko wanted me to marry him. Can you imagine me getting married? To him?"
Usui's eyes widened and a weird rush of possessiveness surprised him.
"Married?" He repeated.
"Yeah. Of course I said no, but the idiot didn't seem to understand that,"she replied dryly.
Usui remained quiet. He knew that people in his society were engaged early most times, but to think Misaki would have been too. And why the possessiveness? He admitted that she fascinated him. But did he genuinely like her? He stared at her.
"But, you know," she said slowly. "You're pretty different from all the guys that I've met too."
"How's that?"
"Well," she scowled,"most guys either hate me or are terrified of me."
Usui burst out laughing at that. She immediately shit him a glare. "And what are you laughing at?"
"Sorry sorry," he grinned and reached out his hand to ruffle her hair and laughed again as she swatted his hand away.
"See? You're not scared even though I'm glaring at you. You can hold your own in martial arts ," she scowled." In fact I think you're better than me."
"You're pretty good yourself." He shrugged.
She huffed and looked away. He didn't understand why she was so angry, though it slightly amused him. He liked arguing with her for some reason. It was refreshing.
"Hey maybe we should go back? It's getting pretty late." She said
He nodded and got up glancing at her as she slowly got up too. She saw him looking and nodded. "I'm really fine now. I just want to sleep."
He grinned and shrugged as she threw the ice pack away in a trash can and he led her out of the park.
