Chapter Seven! Seven is a lucky number! To me, that is.
But from the last chapter, Thorin learns that Azog, the Pale Orc still lives and he is after Thorin. Wargs chase after them and Lily does something very stupid that it'll give not only her father a heart attack, but leaving Thorin with fear a bit of what she does.
What does she do? Well, you just have to find out.
Oh, also note. Do you guys want me to do an Human AU of the Hobbit and pair my OC again with Thorin (Which is now called LilyOaks or LilyShield)? And I am already thinking of making a sequel to Pure Heart with the Lord of the Rings three series. But leave me your opinions if you want a Human AU or not.
So here we go!
Chapter Seven: The Orc Attack and Dragon Sanctuary.
They just have now escape from the Goblins, but they were not out of the danger yet after Bilbo managed to reunite with the dwarves. They heard a howl from the distance and they knew what the howl was.
"Out of the frying pan..." Thorin growled a bit under his breath.
"And into the fire...Run. RUUNNN!" Gandalf shouted and they immediately ran once more, the howls being heard from behind them and Lily can hear the Wargs closing in on them. She got out her sword, still running as she was beside her father as they ran as far as their legs could take them. A Warg suddenly tackles Lily from the side and when Bilbo tried to reach out for her, she kicks the Warg off of her. "Go, dad! I'll catch up!"
"But Lily-"
"I SAID GO!"
Bilbo hesitated, but ran; Lily dealing with the Warg as it snarled at her, baring it's teeth. "Alright, boy...show me what you can do..." Lily said, getting her sword ready and it snarled at her, jumping at her, but in a single swift of her sword, she slit it's throat and it yelped, but lay dead beside her and she smirked slightly-
She was stabbed through her shoulder and she cried out in pain. She saw orcs surrounding her and she tried to fight them off, but was then tackled by a white Warg and she stilled, seeing Azog the Defiler; the Pale orc. Azog smirked evilly at her, the Warg biting down on Lily's wounded shoulder and she yelled out in pain; trying to push it off of her.
"So you are the new dragon alpha we have been hearing about?" Azog asked, smirking as Lily kept trying to push the Warg off of her, but it was making the Warg bite down harder on her shoulder. Azog then grabbed her roughly by the scruff of her shirt and she glared at him, her shoulder bleeding badly from the Warg bite. "Perhaps we should show the dwarf what happens when he takes something from me." Azog smirked-
Lily managed to kick his gut, making him drop her and he growled. This human girl was going to pay. One orc tried to punish Lily, but Azog held his hand up, smirking. "This one belongs to me." Azog said, an evil smirk across his face and Lily shook, still holding her sword in her hands.
Azog dismounts from his Warg, having his weapon ready and Lily stood in a stance that Thorin taught her. "This stance will help you easily dodge the first attack and you can have the upper advantage and an opening will come to you." Thorin's words said in her mind and Azog took the first attack, but she easily dodged it, slashing at his waist and he growled and slammed his mallet against her side, knocking her against a tree.
The wind was knocked right out of her and she coughed up blood, a small stream going down her mouth and chin. She tried to stand, but she cried out in pain when Azog steps on her injured shoulder. He held his mallet and smirked. This was going to be fun.
Meanwhile, the dwarves managed to climb up the trees by the time the Wargs caught up to them, snarling and snapping at the dwarves, trying to reach their prey that were up in the trees. Thorin saw all of the dwarves, including Bilbo were accounted for...wait...one was missing.
"Lily!? Where are you!?" Thorin shouted, but he got no answer, only hearing the wargs below them snarling and snapping; trying to jump up to grab one dwarf, but they were too high up in the trees. Thorin looks over at Bilbo. "Bilbo! Where's Lily!?" He asked, Bilbo managed to held onto the branch when the Warg tackled the tree he was on. "She said she would catch up! One attacked her!"
Gandalf managed to spy a moth that was on a branch that was not far from him and carefully as he could, he lets it rest on his staff and he brought it over to him. He starts to whisper something to it and the moth gently flies off, performing it's duty that Gandalf told it to do.
The Wargs stop attacking, seeing Azog the Defiler going up as he still rides the white Warg and Thorin saw him. "Azog."
Azog smelled the air, a few orcs behind him. "Do you smell it? The scent of fear? I remember your father reeked of it...Thorin, Son of Thrain...and it'll be here once more...show them." Azog commanded and one Orc tossed something below them and the dwarve's hearts frozen with fear, but it was mostly Bilbo and Thorin's heart that was filled with dread and fear.
Lily laid there below them.
She was covered with deep wounds and bruises, which her clothes were covering with her blood. Her wounds were very deep and life threatening. Her eyes were closed, not even moving.
"It can't be..." Thorin whispered. Gandalf saw over to see Lily's body, laying there as she was unresponsive when Azog nudged her body with her foot. "Shame...she tried so hard to resist...but fear...always dwell..." Azog smirked. Thorin clenched his hand into a fist, anger rising within him. How dare he hurt her! Azog points his mallet at Thorin. "That one is mine...Kill the others!" He commanded and the wargs did his command, trying to reach up for the dwarves.
The dwarves held onto the trees they were on, the wargs trying to get the dwarves, biting and snarling at them and taken each branch their teeth could sink into. "Drink their blood." Azog smirked. The wargs kept trying to reach to them, slowly pushing down the trees from it's roots and the tree crashed into another one, the dwarves jumping to the tree. But another tree fell, then another until it got to the one that was near the edge of the cliff, all of the dwarves, including Bilbo holding onto it.
Azog laughed, knowing that they will not last long. Gandalf looks around and saw pine cones on the trees and grabs one, whispering a spell and it slowly lit on fire and Gandalf threw it, making it land on the ground and the wargs backed up from it, snarling and barking at the fire that slowly starts to spread. "Fili!" Gandalf shouted, passing a lit pine cone at him and one by one, the dwarves starts to throw the fire pine cones at the Wargs, making them back off.
Lily was far from the fire, so no more harm was coming to her as she was still unconscious. She felt the heat coming and silently whimpered a bit, clenching to the grass on the ground. Azog growled as the wargs ran off, holding his mallet tighter and Thorin glared at the white Orc.
The dwarves cheered when they saw the wargs ran off, but then stilled when the tree starts to lean and moaned a bit from the weight and slowly starts to fall down, each dwarf holding onto a branch and Gandalf managed to catch two of them before they fell, Dori holding onto Gandalf's staff and Ori holding onto Dori. Azog smirked, then turned into a scowl when Thorin stood, wielding the Goblin Cleaver in his hand and walked off the tree before anyone could stop him and Thorin went to attack the Pale orc.
Azog attacks, the white Warg knocking Thorin down and Thorin tried again, standing up to attack Azog; almost blinded with rage and hatred against the orc, but Azog kept knocking him away as if he was nothing to him. The white warg bit down on Thorin's arm, which he shouted in pain. Bilbo managed to climb up from the tree, looking at the battle.
His daughter needs him.
Thorin needs him.
He grabs his sword and charged over to the battle, the white Warg managed to throw Thorin to the side and Thorin lands next to Lily and he looks at her. She was still unconscious, about to come to her death of blood lost. Azog smirked, about to deliver the final blow, but Bilbo jumped in the way, blocking his path from his prey and Azog growled.
"Kill him." Azog commanded, a few orcs behind him that were also riding Wargs and they slowly start to advance up to them, but the dwarves soon joined the battle. One warg was about to get to Lily as she was still unconscious, a jet of fire stream hits it, making it yelp in pain and backs up. It was the four winged dragon again as it roared at them, hovering above them. It then released another roar and three more dragons joined the battle.
A large gush of wind also passed by, revealing to be large eagles that Gandalf managed to summon when the moth fluttered pass by him. Ori's grasp was slipping and was soon falling with his brother Dori, but they both landed on the back of an eagle, which it screeched.
The dragons and eagles were grabbing the wargs one by one, dropping them over the cliffs and Azog shouted. The four winged dragon roared, using his powerful wings to make the fire go over to the white Warg and it howled in pain, backing up from the flames and the dragon gently grabbed Lily with it's claws and slowly drifted away with Lily. An eagle did the same for Thorin and grabbed him.
The eagles were grabbing the dwarves and carried them away. "THORIN!" Fili shouted, riding with Kili on the back of an eagle, but Thorin was unresponsive and it made Bilbo worried, but he was more worried of Lily, who was unresponsive the entire time before the wargs even attacked them. The four winged dragon leads the other three dragons, following the eagles, the morning sun rising from the east, over the mountain's peaks.
The four winged dragon roared at the eagle that had Gandalf on and it screeched back at it and the dragon leads the eagles, passing their destination and were heading towards a large cave, which above part of the mountain, large spikes of ice were above it and the dragons and eagles flew through the entrance and the sight that lay before them was amazing.
Dragons were everywhere.
Waterfalls stream down into a lake and the landscape was eloped with emerald green grass, flowers and plants. Large rocks surrounds the area and ice were above it, sheilding the sun and weather like a roof. The dragons were either flying or relaxing, the dragon hatchlings playing with each other.
The four winged dragon gently laid Lily down and lands and he lets out a roar, the eagles dropping the dwarves off before flying away. "Thorin!" Gandalf shouted, rushing over to him and he starts to whisper a spell, placing his hand over Thorin's forehead. The dwarf prince soon fluttered his eyes open and breathed in deeply.
"...the halfling?"
"It is alright, Thorin. Bilbo is safe..."
Bilbo sighed at Thorin, relief that he was safe and alive-
"You!"
Bilbo looks at Thorin, the other dwarves backing up from him. "What were you doing? You could have gotten yourself killed! Did I not say that you would be a burden?" He asked, slowly walking over to Bilbo and Bilbo took a deep breath, knowing that he was angry with him of how foolish he was and how his Took side took control of him when he rushed into battle to protect Thorin. "You would have never survive in the wild! You have no place among us." Thorin then took a deep breath
"...and I've never been more wrong in all my life." Thorin said and hugged Bilbo close, which he was very surprised of the reaction. In fact, he wasn't thinking that Thorin would do this at all or interact like this. But Bilbo was relieve. He was relieve that he was able to finally have Thorin's respect and trust in him and slowly hugged the dwarf prince back.
Thorin smiled, relief and glad that the burglar was safe and still with them. Then he pulled away, looking at Bilbo. "I'm sorry if I doubted you."
"Don't be...I would have doubted myself as well."
Thorin smiled, then noticed their surrounding as a few dragons looks at them curiously, never seeing them up close before. "Where are we?" He asked, Gandalf walking up. "It seems that they brought us here for a reason." Thorin then stilled. Where was Lily?
"Where is she? Where is Lily?"
Gandalf only sighs sadly. "...I am afraid...that her wounds were much severe than yours, Thorin..."
He then saw Lily's body, which she was surrounded by a few dragons that had their wings spread and were saying things in dragon tongue, the grass around Lily glowing, her eyes still closed. The black dragon looks at the four winged dragon, which Demon was there as well.
"It's not working...what do we do, Cloudjumper?" The dragon asked, only making the four winged dragon sigh grievely. "I do not know..."
"...we have to get Vordoom." Demon said, nuzzling Lily's cheek, which she was still unresponsive.
"Demon, we can't-" Cloudjumper tried to say.
"He is the only option we have! Our spell is not working and Vordoom has the largest healing power in all of us and he is the only one that can save her!" He snapped, roaring and growling at the old dragon, then went over to the large lake, where bubbles were surfacing as if something was sleeping. The dwarves didn't know what was going on, but starts to back up when Demon roared loudly at the water and the water shook more, more bubbles surfacing.
The largest dragon they have ever seen had surface, the large dragon having tusks on each side of it's face and roared loudly, surfacing from the water before growling, slamming it's tusks against the water. It had mane like spikes around it's head like a lion would and the eyes were blue, but were red around it's pupils that were slit angrily. The body grey and black, having old scars among it's body from many of battles it had faced. The small wing-like frills were on it's sides, having holes in it from aging of the years and they were expanded and it growled.
"Demon of the Wind dragons. Explain to me why you have disturb me?" The large dragon asked, growling as it was speaking in human tongue. Demon bowed his head to the large dragon.
"Forgive me, my lord Vordoom of the Bewilderbeasts...but we need your aid...the youngest dragon alpha is severely injured...we need your help to heal her." Demon said, the large ice dragon seeing Lily as she was unconscious, her skin now pale of the blood lost. "And what has made her have these injuries?"
"Azog the Defiler."
That made the large ice dragon roar loudly in anger, knowing that orc that had also killed many of the dragon kind. He then noticed the dwarves and they start to back up. "WHY are there dwarves in the dragon sanctuary!?" Vordoom roared and Demon kept his place. "The youngest dragon alpha is acquainted with them, lord Vordoom. Thorin Oakenshield is reclaiming his home of Erebor and Lily is helping them by trying to convince Smaug to leave the mountain."
"Thorin..." He looks at the dwarves, who tensed when the large ice dragon stares at them. Vordoom then looks at Lily and slowly went over to her, the water moving roughly from his size and looks down at Lily. He nudged her gently with his tusk and breathed a frosty breath at her, the grass frosting up from the cold of the large ice dragon. Lily suddenly breathed in deeply, shivering and her wounds were slowly closing and healing.
"Thorin Oakenshield...step forward."
Thorin stared at the large dragon, then stepped forward and the dragon looks down at him. "I do not believe we have met."
"Many of the dragons knows about the tale that has happened years ago. I do not know that fire drakes like Smaug are this persistent of taking things that do not belong to them. But I do tell you this...each dragon can be persuaded, even Smaug himself. For I say this, Thorin, son of Thor, son of Thrain...I wish you luck on your quest and hope for victory of you and your people."
Thorin nods at the large ice dragon and Vordoom looks down at Lily. "She should be fine...she needs rest for now and when she is, Voltage and Hookfang will help you out of the Sanctuary so that you can continue on your quests. May the dragon spirits protect you and guide you to victory." Vordoom said, then hurred loudly as he went back to his resting spot inside of the lake.
Bilbo rushed over to Lily and gently brushed her bangs from her face. She breathed in a shaky breath before fluttering her eyes open slowly. "...dad...?"
"Oh, Lily..." He hugged her gently and yet tightly at the same time, breathing a deep, shaky breath. Lily groaned a bit in pain, her body sore and her vision still a bit of a blur. "Wh-Where are we?" She then stilled.
"Wait...th-the orc, it's-"
"It is alright, Lily. We are away from Azog and safe for now. But you gave us all quite a fright." Gandalf said, smiling. Lily looks around a bit, seeing the dwarves smiling at her, Bilbo helping her sit up. Demon cooed happily, nuzzling her cheek and was purring. She then noticed how Thorin was staring at her and she looks at him. She was about to say something, but she groaned a bit, still feeling dizzy. "Rest now, Lily...you will be fine in a couple of hours." Gandalf smiled, Bilbo helping her lay down.
Lily closed her eyes, sighing deeply.
It was later when Lily woke up, having a bad dream of the pale orc and was gasping, sweating and she took deep breaths to calm herself, having a hand over her eyes as a tear ran down her cheek-
"Lily."
She stilled and she looks at Thorin, who was sitting next to her and he stared at her, his wounds also healed as well from the dragons that healed everyone with the dragon healing spell. "Thorin..." She managed to sit up and hugged him, wrapping her arms around his neck, her face buried into the crook of his neck, a tear ran down her cheek. "Thorin..." She choked and he closed his eyes, hugging her close.
"Easy now..." He said, feeling her shake, reassuring her by placing his hand on the back of her head, holding her close. "I'm not going anywhere." He added, making Lily tighten his grip around him. She didn't say anything for awhile until she regain her composure and she soon pulled away from him. "I'm sorry..." She said, her head low and Thorin looks at her.
"...Azog...he...I-I tried to stop him-"
"Don't apologize."
She looks at him, Thorin placing a hand on her shoulder. "You did your best and you tried to buy your father time so he could climb the tree before the Wargs got to us." He then took a deep breath, squeezing her shoulder gently. "Just don't do anything that reckless again."
She smirked softly at him. "No promises about that."
He smirked softly back at her, squeezing her shoulder once more. "Get some sleep. We're leaving in a few hours." he said, about to stand up but Lily grabbed his arm gently and he looks over at her. "Umm...I know this is a bit awkward...but...could you stay?" She asked, blushing a bit still, but wasn't looking at the dwarf prince in the eyes. "Well...it's because that..."
"...it was a nightmare, wasn't it?" He asked. He earns a nod from the girl and he sighs. He sat down next to her as she laid down. He placed his arm around her shoulder as he leaned back against a boulder, Lily's head leaning against his side, curled up against his side. She closed her eyes, sighing softly. "...Thorin?"
"Hmm?"
"...what happens if we run into Azog again...? He won't let us go easily next time..." She said, shivering of the memory of the pale orc. Thorin looks down at her and tighten his grip around her shoulder. "It will be alright. We will be ready for him if we ever come across from him again." He said and she looks up at him, making him look down at her; mismatched eyes looking at blue eyes.
"I promise." He vowed and she nods, settling her head back down against his side and sighed softly, staring at the surroundings they were in. Lily starts to fall asleep, sighing softly, but she seemed she can't and kept her eyes half way open, hearing the heartbeat of the dwarf prince's heart. Thorin knew that she wasn't asleep just yet and just laid there, sighing deeply.
"...what's it like in Erebor?"
He looks down at her. "You know...before Smaug came?" She asked. He leaned back more, letting Lily be comfortable. "...the walls were carved by our kind, the mines always busy that we use to mine out jewels to make everyday objects and weaponry. In the heart of the mountain, we found the Arkenstone, it is to unite our people again when my grandfather placed it on his throne. The town was also peaceful as well, always having people from everywhere in Middle Earth passing by." He said, thinking of the good times in Dale and Erebor before the fire drake came.
"Must have been beautiful." Lily said, looking up at him slightly and he smiled. "Yes, it was beautiful. Music would play everyday just to entertain my grandfather, but they don't mind it all." Lily had her hand resting against his chest, closing her eyes. "...did you play an instrument?"
"The Harp."
Lily smiled softly, her eyes closing. "I would like...to hear you...play the harp one day..." Lily said, sleep taking over her mind. He smiled down at her. "One day, I will..." Thorin heard Lily gone silent after awhile. "Lily?" He looks down at her, finding her now fast asleep. He chuckled a bit under his breath and leaned back against the boulder, closing his eyes.
Lily sighs softly in her sleep, draping an arm around the dwarf prince's chest, which Thorin placed his hand on the top of Lily's hand, gently squeezing it to reassure her she was fine and wasn't going anywhere. Gandalf saw the scene and chuckled a bit under his breath, but was smiling.
"It seems we found someone that can keep Thorin calm for now." He said, going over to Bilbo and Bilbo looks over to see Lily and Thorin. "So it seems..." He said, but was fearing the worse that he was hoping he would never face and Gandalf knew what he was thinking of.
"You knew this would come sooner or later, Bilbo...but I do not think they realize it just yet."
Bilbo sighs. "I know..."
It near the afternoon, everyone rested and healed from the battles from the wargs and orcs. Lily bowed before Vordoom, who was seeing them off. "We cannot thank you enough, Vordoom." Lily said.
"No need, young alpha. You now know what to do if you ever encounter with the pale orc. And there is one more gift I will bestow upon you, Lilian. Hookfang, give her the amulet." Vordoom said, looking at the fire dragon that walked up to her and present her an amulet that had a dragon encircling a jewel that was the purest white she had ever seen.
"Keep it with you at all times and when you do, you can turn into the species of dragons of our kind. It will only work for you and you alone, no one else. And if you ever in trouble, my dragons will not hesitate to assist you and neither will I. Stay safe and may the dragon spirits guide you on your way." Vordoom said, Lily grabbing the amulet from the fire dragon and it immediately turns into a bracelet and wrapped around her wrist.
She bowed to the giant ice dragon once more before catching up with the others as they stood out from the mouth of the cave. "Is that what I think it is?" Bilbo asked, seeing a mountain from the distance.
"Yes. Erebor and the Lonely Mountain." Gandalf said, smiling as they saw the mountain and Lily smiled. "I think the worse is behind us now." Lily smiled and Thorin smiled a bit, looking slightly at Bilbo and Lily. A small thrush flew to the direction of the mountain, which was a very large flight for the small bird. It lands on a stone and starts to tap the rock with it's beak, which it echoed through the mountain.
The gold riches laid in the mountain-
A snorted sound was heard and a nostril of a large dragon showed and the head of it slowly emerged from the mountain of gold, the eyes closed, but then heard the taps from the Thrush. It opened it's eyes, revealing a firey gold color of it's eye, the pupils slit and it growled.
The Fire drake knows they are coming.
That is the ending of the first movie, the Unexpected Journey, then we move onto the Desolation of Smaug.
But finally, though! Bilbo has gained Thorin's respect and trust! Even Lily and both her and Thorin starts to be somewhat a bit closer to another, but they just don't know what's in store for them.
So the next chapter. They meet a skin changer named Beor, and they near the forest of Mirkwood, which it was known to be cursed. What will their friends encounter in that forest? Well, you have to find out soon!
Until then,
