I started to wake up and I felt something cold under me. I extended my senses to see if I could tell where I was when I heard chuckling. I opened my eyes, leaned my head up to look at the source of the laughing. When I saw the face, I felt myself smile. I got an answering smile that made my head become hazy. This made him smile even bigger. I could feel the heat rise in my cheeks, signaling the oncoming blush and hid my head.
"Good morning," I heard Edward say.
I looked back up to him and replied, "Good morning to you, too."
I started to push up a little to sit, but was held in place by Edward's arms. I looked at him and he had a conspiratorial grin spread across his face. This, in turn, made me smile back at him. I looked around at what I could see. This doesn't look like the room I've been staying in, I thought.
"It's not. This is my room."
I looked up at him with a questioning look. He had a sheepish smile and looked like he would blush if he could.
"You fell asleep sitting on the piano beside me. I just ended up carrying you in here instead. It seemed logical at the time."
Now, he wore a worried look on his face, like he wasn't sure if he should have. I smiled at him and told him, "That was very nice of you." I wasn't sure if he would let me kiss him or not. I leaned my head up slowly and carefully, so as not to startle him. At the last second though I changed course and kissed him right beside his mouth on his cheek and then started towards his lips in a trail of kisses. I put the last one on his lips. He openly accepted the kiss and started kissing me back. The kiss deepened and was absolutely amazing! However, the kiss ended way too soon and I had my head laid back down on his chest, which felt more like rock.
He leaned down and kissed me on the top of my head. "Alice has set out some clothes for you in the bathroom. You can take a shower anytime that you would like. Also, when you're done, come downstairs. You'll see why."
He waited until I had gotten up to go to the shower to get up his self. He left the bedroom, my guess to give me some privacy. I walked into the bathroom and got into the shower.
I suddenly felt cold arms wrap around me. I was walking out of Edward's bathroom when he picked me up and carried me out the door and down the stairs to the living room, where Alice, Rosalie, and Esme waited. He sat me down on my feet and Alice danced over to me.
"Come on. We're going shopping." Alice grabbed my hand and pulled me along out the door to the car.
We drove for miles and miles. We had stopped and got me something to eat on the way. We ended up at a mall about forty minutes or so away, well that amount of time with how fast Esme drove. We went inside and shopped and shopped until my stomach started to protest. We sat down after I got some food and I ate while we all talked. Afterwards, we shopped and shopped some more until the mall started to close. We walked to the car with the thirty or fifty bags in tow and put them in the car. We stopped at a drive thru on the way home and continued on our way.
When we got home, all the men, including Carlisle, came out to the car and got the bags for us. They sat them down in the living room until we could sort out whose bag was whose. The bags were carried to their respective rooms and the men returned.
We spent the rest of the night watching movies and playing games. For some reason, Emmett thinks it's absolutely hilarious to watch vampire movies. Although, I can kind of see why. The movies are way wrong.
That night, I went up to my room and put all the clothes away. Edward helped me. We then lied down on my bed and talked for a long time. I think we ended up talking for hours until I drifted to sleep cuddled up to Edward's side.
When I woke up, I felt the already familiar contour of Edward's body entangled with mine. I opened my eyes and looked up at him. I smiled a big smile, which resulted in a smile back from him.
"Good morning, sleepyhead." He kissed me on my forehead.
This made me blush and snuggle my head deeper into his shoulder. He chuckled.
"I have a question for you," I told Edward.
"What's that?" He looked at me still smiling some.
"The only thing I have seen while up here so far is the little bit of the town I saw before I met you and then on the shopping trip and the forest where you play baseball. I was just wondering if we could go out and walk around and explore." I looked at him waiting for an answer.
He leaned down and kissed me on my head. "Hmm. I think I know the perfect thing."
I looked up at him and he had a smirk on his face. This made me curious. "What's that?"
He smirked even bigger. "That will be a surprise." He kissed me on the cheek and then started sitting up. "I'll get everything ready while you're getting ready."
With that, he was up and Alice came in the door. She pulled me up and over to the closet. She found me an appropriate outfit for whatever Edward had planned then pushed me over to the bathroom.
I was dressed in blue jeans, a t-shirt, a jacket, and tennis shoes. I had a backpack that had snacks, water, and other various items in it. If I had been totally human, I probably wouldn't have been able to carry it as well for as long. Everything around me was wooded area. We ended up walking through a forest to an unknown destination.
The hike was very beautiful. There were all kinds of plants and flowers that I had never seen before. We had occasionally crossed paths with things like deer and other creatures that inhabited the forests around Denali and the national park that is included in it. Once we even ran into a moose and a caribou. Although once, Edward picked me up and ran a small distance. When I asked why, he had answered that he had smelled a grizzly bear coming and that he didn't want to have to fight a bear in front of me.
We walked for hours until we came to an area where there was a clearing. Edward led me over to where I could put the blanket in my backpack onto the ground to sit on. After it was laid out, I took out the snacks and a bottle of water. I sat there and ate some strawberries, apples, watermelon, carrots and broccoli with ranch dressing, celery and peanut butter, various other fruits and veggies, some spaghetti with meatballs and sauce, and other things.
I ate my snacks and we talked about random things, like how they can live among people and some of the things I have had to face over the years. At one point, the sun came out and I got to see what they meant by sparkle. It was absolutely beautiful, like a million diamonds were on his skin. After about an hour or two, we packed it all back up and then started to head back.
I thought about it for a minute. The Slayer in me needed to have the energy it had go down levels to get to the ability to rest without jumping around, however, the hike back to the house was a very long one. It had taken us hours. In the end, I decided to climb on his back and let him run. I leaned my head against his shoulder as he was running. I had gotten kind of tired from the hike there. While I had more stamina and endurance than the normal human, Slayers still got tired.
We arrived at the house within an hour. For that I was glad. I wanted to go lie down and go to sleep. First, though, was a shower after being in the woods most of the day. He brought me up to my room and sat me down. I got pajamas out of the dresser, took my shoes and socks off, and headed into the bathroom. I let the hot water run over me. It felt really good compared to the chill of the air outside. Although, more than likely, a majority of the chill was probably from going in excess of sixty miles an hour without much protection for about fifty minutes.
After I was done with my shower and dressed, I came back out into my room and saw Edward sitting on my bed waiting for me. He stood up and lifted the blanket for me. I crawled under and when he had sat down beside after tucking me in, I kissed him on the cheek and said, "Thank you… for everything today. I think that was the most fun I've had in months."
He smiled and replied, "Your welcome." He kissed me on the forehead. He looked thoughtful for a minute before finally saying what he was thinking. "Why did you decide to come with us the night you got here? Well, besides Alice dragging you with us."
At this we both chuckled. I thought. "I'm not sure. I guess I just decided subconsciously to give you guys a chance and that you wouldn't hurt me. And like you said, Alice dragged me along with you… literally." We chuckled again. "But for whatever reason I ended up here, I'm glad I did." With that, I cuddled up to Edward and then felt myself drifting to sleep while Edward hummed the lullaby he wrote for me.
