"Will Gamzee be okay?" Nepeta fiddled with the pull string of her hoodie anxiously. Karkat sat silently in the driver's seat, the only noise in the whole car was the stereo, silently playing Gorillaz. Karkat sighed, pulling into his driveway.
"I sure as fuck hope so, Leijion." He parked the car and slumped in his seat, rubbing his temple. He looked over to Nepeta, who was rocking back and forth to 'Rhinestone Eyes'. That's when Karkat realized that the new girl wasn't as annoying as he thought she was. She did get on his nerves, but she wasn't that bad. It's one of those assumptions you have of people that stay with you until you know them better, that's all.
"Look, I appreciate you coming to see Gamzee with me, I mean, he's.." Karkat's voice droned out in Nepeta's ears, and once again came the girly crush she had. Gosh darn that Karkat for being cute. He rambled on and on, continuing about Gamzee, now about something philosophical, she thinks. Man, he's so cute, she might kiss him. It won't be right, since he is in some kind of romantic relationship with Terezi Pyrope, and she's pretty cool. Probably one of the most impressive girls Nepeta has met. She was no Feferi Peixies, the popular cheerleader, but she was special and radical in her own way. She could never hurt her, EVER.
Karkat continued his rambling; the only audible words heard being the occasional "Fuckass", "Asshole", or "Fucking inverted sasquatch anus", but then again, it was music to Nepeta's ears, not that she was paying attention, but she liked his rather colorful language.
"..So I told him, 'Fuck no, Communism is not right for you, it's one of those spiritual things that.." He continued, now using hand movement to express his speech. She watched as he rambled on with such passion, it was extremely interesting to watch.
"And I-"
"Karkat." She placed her hand on his knee, and leaned over closer to him, smelling the lingering cherry pop tart he had in his breath. He eyed her with no emotion whatsoever; besides the light red tint he grew on his cheeks. His eyebrows furrowed together in confusion, and at that moment, the most he could allow himself to do was to hold his breath.
Terezi Pyrope sat in her boyfriend's living room in one of his oversized Beatles' T shirts, and a pair of his favorite crab boxers. She laid down on his couch, sprawling out and taking up most of it. The loud, powerful voice of Judge Judy ringing through the television speakers sparked no interest to her, but what DID were the car headlights shining in through the window.
"Must be Karkat." She sat up, awaiting the arrival of her boyfriend, and probably give him the usual "Hello Karkles!", "How was it?", or "There's my Crabcakes!", but after 10 minutes, things started to get fishy. She stood up, and peered over to the window, definitely seeing Karkat's car, but it was hard to see inside from his slightly tinted windows. Maybe she'd ought to go outside and check up on him. She grabbed her teal coat from the rack and walked outside into the chilly fall air. She rubbed her arms for warmth, although it would have been wise to put on some longer pants to keep her exposed legs toasty. She walked down the driveway, past his goofy looking flamingos and lawn ornaments, and finally to his car. From where she was standing, she could get some sort of silhouette of him, but with someone else? He did tell her about taking Nepeta over to Gamzee's house, but –
Oh. That's funny. Heheh, her vision must be off. Like, she really needs to get her eyes checked. This was all too hilarious. Too hilarious. It almost looked like HER BOYFRIEND was kissing someone in his car. Karkat would never do that. What a card. Oh boy, Karkat's gonna laugh his balls off when she tells him. Of course, she had to stop lying herself. Her boyfriend was truly kissing Nepeta Leijion in his car. There's no doubt about it. Her stomach bubbled up, and her mind was going all woozy. She couldn't tell, but she wasn't sure if she was mad or upset. Maybe both. Anyway, you know how there'd be a voice telling you to do something completely irrational, and you know doing said action would make problems worse? That's who our poor, poor, Terezi was listening to. She picked up one of the garden gnomes he had conveniently placed right beside her, and without thinking, threw it at the car. It sure caught Karkat's attention, alright. Thankfully, neither he, nor Nepeta was hurt; however, Terezi begged to differ. She fell back on the ground, her eyes covering her eyes, streams of blood running down her face. The glass shards had landed in her eyes. Karkat, alarmed, ran out of the car, attending to his injured (possibly soon ex-) girlfriend. Nepeta could only watch in fear and guilt, her whole body frozen. She couldn't move. She couldn't even scream.
"TEREZ-"
"FUCK YOU, KARKAT!" Terezi shouted between sobs. She could only cry and cry, her tears all mushed up with the blood and tears, including her makeup, making it one big mess on her face.
Karkat insisted on helping her, but she kicked him away every time he tried showing affection. He even tried holding her hand, just like she liked him to do, but she rejected that too.
"Terezi, please, I-"
"SHUT UP!" She screamed, and then continued her hurt sobs.
It hurt her so much, Karkat even started to cry.
Nepeta still sat in the car, letting out a few tears, but that's the most she could do. She felt guilty, but she was far too shocked to do anything. After a while, one of the neighbors came outside due to the loud, painful cries of Terezi, and called an ambulance immediately when they saw blood, and soon, she left in the one vehicle you never want to see anyone in.
Karkat watched as she was taken away, and didn't move a muscle. His shoulders twitched as he sobbed right there on his front lawn, and it was time for Nepeta to say something.
She walked out of the car, and sat beside Karkat, being careful not to sit on the loose glass shards from the car. She placed her hand on his shoulder, beginning her (probably bullshit to Karkat) apology.
"Karkat, I-I am really sorry. This was all my fault and-"
"Damn right."
"I know, I-"
"I don't even want to fucking, know, Leijion." She didn't say anything back. She was hurt, but she could take the hurtful words right now. She understood completely.
"Why did you do that, Nepeta?" He asked quietly, still staring at the same patch of grass he's been staring at for the past hour.
"I-"
"You know what? I don't even want you to fucking answer." He sniffled and wiped the tears off his face. She didn't need to see him in this miserable state. She took one big shaky breath, and exhaled. There goes their wonderfully weaved friendship.
"Nepeta." Karkat said bluntly.
"Yes, Karkat?" She said in almost a whisper.
"Do me a favor and never talk, look, or even fucking think about me, because you better fucking believe I won't." He stood up and dusted the glass shards off the driver's seat of his car, and sat down, closing the door.
"I'll take the fucking liberty of driving you home, if that's alright." He said, staring off into space, not daring to give her any eye contact. She could only nod and get in the car, without saying a word. More or less, Nepeta could never trust herself again. As for Karkat, he should keep his mouth shut for now.
