15 DAYS LATER

Chapter Six

"So as I was saying, I don't think we should decorate the Prefects' Room with the Slytherin colours because it would be much better to use all the house colours for house unity and stuff," I say and look at Scorpius who's just staring at me. It doesn't look like he's registering anything I'm saying. Boneheaded boys… "and because seriously Scorp, green and silver is just outright depressing and it'll creep people out," I finish, taking a deep breath: filling my lungs with oxygen. I wait for a retort about how the Slytherin colours are not depressing but it doesn't come.

I try again, "But I also think all the eight colours will look congested so one colour from each house would –"

Suddenlly Scorp reaches out and tucks a curly tendril of red hair behind my ear which I hadn't even noticed was hanging there. I blink.

He looks apologetic and says, "Sorry it was bothering me."

Despite the fact that he wasn't listening to a word I saying, I smile. "Do you do that on purpose?"

He gives me a questioning look and shrugs.

I go on, "I mean first you don't listen to me and then you make these sweet gestures to make up for it."

He shakes his head and smirks. "You really are a do-goody Gryffindor."

I scowl. "What do you mean?"

"It didn't once cross your mind that maybe I'm making these 'sweet gestures' because I want to convince you to use the Slytherin colours which for your information, ARE NOT DEPRESSING AT ALL?" he retorts.

I look at him in disbelief. "You know sometimes I think maybe you don't belong in Slytherin but then you say things like this and I'm reminded that Malfoys are Slytherin to the core."

"That's accurate," laughs Scorpius, "but maybe you'd be a Malfoy someday."

My heart skips a beat and I stare at him.

But he doesn't notice and continues, "So are we using green and silver or are we using green and silver?"

I supress a smile and glare at him, "I hate you, you know that?"

He lifts my chin up and says, "Correction, love. You try to."

… I sigh. Then run a hand through my unruly waves.

God, I miss him.

I shake my head.

No. I'm going to find him. All this will be over soon. I constantly tell myself this.

My plan will work.

I stare at my untouched food of plate and rub my eyes.

"Rose," says Alex, "take a look at this."

She hands me the Daily Prophet.

SEARCH FOR SCORPIUS MALFOY: ABANDONED

I read the headline in horror. I read further…

Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy, son of Healer and ex- Death Eater Draco Malfoy had been reported missing about a fortnight ago but it seems the Ministry has stopped the search for Hogwarts' latest Head Boy because they are unable to find any lead and a Ministry official quoted, "Hundreds of people go missing every day. This boy isn't anyone special. We have much more important things to do. For all we know, the boy has run away and joined some minor dark forces we don't know about –

I rip the newspaper to shreds in outrage. The Ministry of Magic is officially useless. It sucks. It's pathetic.

Alex looks at me concernedly, "Idiots, aren't they?"

"Bloody egotistical, selfish son of –"

Alex clamps a hand over my mouth. "Shut it. You want to get detention?" she hisses.

I groan as she removes her hand. "Sorry," I mutter, "But these people make me so mad. How could they just abandon the search and the nerve of that stupid Ministry official saying Scorp joined some dark forces."

"I get it," says Alex, "But remember the suicidal plan we made? It might succeed and you'll get lovely boyfriend back."

"Oh come on," I say teasingly, "You miss him too."

"I don't. I feel much better without his sass, thank you very much. I'm just doing this for you," she mutters.

"Whatever you say," I say supressing a grin.

"Oh shut up," Alex says, hitting my arm.

"Malfoy Manor," says Alex and a green fire envelops her.

I quickly do the same procedure.

In a second, I arrive in… Mr and Mrs Malfoy's bedroom. Oh perfect! I should've specified!

Alex is there waiting for me. We quietly head for the kitchen, opening up doors at random…where Pinky will be.

Along the way, Alex whistles lowly and says, "Whoa. Your boyfriend sure is rich."

I glare at her and she doesn't say anything the rest of the way.

But we are stopped by a loud sniff in the parlour.

Alex looks at me. I shrug. I cautiously peek inside and almost yelp.

Sitting inside with Astoria Malfoy consoling her is…my mother. Merlin, save me. Me and my rotten luck.

"Should've gotten Al's invisibility cloak," I whisper. Alex nods.

We wait there for a few minutes, contemplating what to do when we see Pinky coming our way with a tray in her hands laden with tea and cake.

Her eyes go wide and she's about to say something when we hold up a finger to our lips and signal her to come to us after serving my mother and Mrs Malfoy of course.

Pinky looks suspicious but nods. After we hear my mother say, "Thank you," in a tight voice (SPEW and all), Pinky leads us to a store room and asks in a panicked voice, "What is Miss Rose and her friend doing here in Malfoy Manor?"

"Look I'm sorry Pinky. I don't want to cause any trouble but hear me out please. Do you anything, anything at all…that might help us find Scorpius?"

Pinky shakes her head but does not meet my eyes. I narrow my eyes. She's lying.

"Tell me the truth, Pinky," I insist, "Don't you want Scorpius back?"

Pinky looks like she's having an inner war with herself. Tears trickle down her face. "Pinky is sorry, Miss. She promised Master Scorpius she would not tell you. Pinky wants to tell you but she can't."

"Scorpius told you?" I ask, confused. Then realization dawns. I shake Pinky's shoulder, "Did he contact you? Pinky please don't do this. Tell me!"

When I am on the verge of going hysterical, Alex places a hand on my shoulder. "Wait," she says, "Pinky, Malfoy asked you not to tell Rose right?"

Pinky nods, still looking fearful.

Alex grins. "Well I'm not Rose. Tell me."

I stare at Alex in awe. I couldn't have found myself a better best friend. I love you, Alexandra Finnegan!

Pinky beams. "Yes. Master Scorpius contact Pinky last night. He say he don't have much time…

…the Death Eaters have gotten Master Scorpius, Miss. Save him."

A/N: Reviews love me and I love them. Please don't keep us apart. I BEG YOU.

So anyway, I will finish this story. I promise. But I can't guarantee when the next chapter's coming…

Forgive me, pweez? :)
