"Really?" Michael asked surprised, "Oh well, I'll have a word with Mycroft, then."
"Fine," Sherlock said, "He won't believe you anyway."
Then he held out his hand.
"Nice to meet you, Your Lordship," he said.
Michael shook his hand and smiled coldly.
"Just so you know it, Mr Holmes," he said, "If you hurt my family's reputation, you're gone."
"Understood."
"Elizabeth, put your mask on," he continued to his sister.
"No."
He glared at her and then went to park his car. Elizabeth and Sherlock went inside.
"I'd like to meet your other brother too, if you don't mind," Sherlock said.
Elizabeth's face turned grim immediately.
"You're sure?" she asked. Sherlock nodded.
"Right this way then," Elizabeth sighed and leaded Sherlock to the basements. They stopped in front of a big door and Elizabeth entered an access code.
The door opened with a groan and the couple entered. They walked down the stairs.
"Does Raymond live here?" Sherlock asked.
"Most of the time, yes," his girlfriend said, "He has chambers upstairs though."
"Aha."
"There we are," Elizabeth said, while they stopped in front of a big metal door. She knocked.
"Yes?" a man's voice shouted.
"Raymond? I've got someone who'd like to meet you," Elizabeth said.
"Oh. Right," Raymond muttered, "Just a second."
The door opened automatically and Sherlock and Elizabeth went in. For the second time that day, Sherlock's mouth fell open.
They entered the most extended lab ever. Everything you could imagine was there. In one of the corners stood a robot that appeared to be fully functional. There was a large case with mice, of which some were dead and others alive. Other mice were being used in the most incredible experiments. In the middle of the room was a large table, filled with experiments and inventions.
Behind that table a man was standing. He was wearing black trousers, a grey sweater and lab coat. His goggles were on his nose. He had the same blue eyes as his twin sister and pretty much the same facial features. His hair was black and looked as if it had exploded a long time ago. He didn't wear any shoes. He walked towards them and gazed hard at Sherlock. Then he held out his hand.
"Lord Raymond Bennington," he introduced himself, "Baron of Sherwood."
"Sherlock Holmes. Nice to meet you," the detective said.
Raymond gave him a vague look.
"Hi sis," he said, "Couldn't bother to wear a mask?"
"No. Left it in my library," his sister said calmly.
"Whatever you prefer, hûh?" Raymond said sarcastically.
"So what are you doing there?" Sherlock asked, pointing at the table.
"Quantum physics experiment," Raymond said.
"He never elaborates," Elizabeth said, "Don't bother."
"Oh," Sherlock said, slightly disappointed.
"So you are dating my big sister, then?" Raymond asked suddenly.
"How did you know?" Sherlock asked surprised.
"I didn't know, I saw," Raymond said, "My sister and I share the gift of reading auras. So does our dear brother, but more superficially. If you can hide your true feelings, he will never be able to find out. But he does use his skills to manipulate everyone."
"Aha," Sherlock said, "Obviously."
"You say so," Raymond said, shrugging.
"Now I see what you meant, Elizabeth," Sherlock said, "He has an evil twitch indeed. You also do try to like each other more openly, but that's really hard because of what has happened between you two."
Elizabeth nodded. "I do like him, because he's my brother, but I also hate him because of that. We have travelled together through Italy and other countries, trying to get more along."
"Didn't really work in the end," Raymond mumbled, returning to his experiments.
"He wants us to leave," Elizabeth said, "Shall we go?"
"Do be nice to my sister, Mr Holmes. After all I've put her through, she deserves some happiness," Raymond said while the couple walked back to the main hall.
As they returned to the library, they didn't say much to each other.
"You better stay for the night, I guess," Elizabeth said, "It's already past eleven. I can drive you home tomorrow on my Harley or my Ducati."
"Sure. I'll text John I won't get home until tomorrow," her boyfriend said, while pulling his phone out of his pocket and he quickly sent a text to his best friend.
"So what do you want to do now?" he asked.
"I don't know. I don't feel like sleeping," Elizabeth said.
"What do you usually do when you can't sleep?" Sherlock asked.
"I grab a blanket and go watch the stars on the roof. Or if it's wet or cloudy, I go watch a film," his girlfriend answered, "The skies are clear tonight. Care to join me?"
"I'd love to."
Elizabeth smiled and took a blanket from her bedroom. Then she took Sherlock to the roof. He laid out the blanket and lay down. Elizabeth went and lay next to him and he put his arms around her.
For a while, they just lay there, watching the stars and holding each other.
Then Sherlock asked, "Anyone in your family who does astronomy or astrology?"
"Yeah, Michael does both, though he doesn't want to admit that," Elizabeth said with a smile.
Sherlock grinned too. "He indeed doesn't seem to be the type for it."
"Uhûh. I also like it, but he knows way more about the stars than I do," Elizabeth said.
"Aha. So Michael does know more than politics alone. I already thought so," Sherlock said.
"Obviously," his girlfriend smiled.
Hours passed as they just lay there holding each other. Then, in the east, the sky began to lighten and the stars began to fade. Elizabeth noticed it first and pointed it out to Sherlock. He too saw it and started to get up. So did his girlfriend. They walked down and had a small breakfast.
Meanwhile they were talking about all sorts of things, though mainly about nicknames for each other. After breakfast, they walked down to Elizabeth's garage. She opened the door and entered, followed by the detective.
"So, which one do you prefer?" she asked, "The Harley or the Ducati?"
"The Harley, I'd say," Sherlock said, "It seems easier to have a passenger on that one."
"Yeah, I always prefer to take my Harley when I have passengers," Elizabeth said, "A Wide Glide simply has more sitting space than a Multistrada."
"I agree," Sherlock said.
Elizabeth put on her motor suit and grabbed her helmet.
"Here, got an extra one for you," she said while handing Sherlock a suit and a helmet. They were both black with some red linings on them. Sherlock grumbled something about never wanting to wear such things, but he put them on nevertheless. Then they got on the motor and drove off.
So that's some more romance...^-^ We hope you enjoyed it! Please fav/follow and review. ^-^ Thanks! :D
