By morning Jack had sobered up enough to remember what happened. He peeked in on Elizabeth. She was asleep, or so he thought, until he heard "Jack," in a small voice.

He walked in as Elizabeth tried to sit up. "What am I doing here?" She said quietly, "I feel awful." She grabbed at her head. Then suddenly got a surprised look on her face when she saw where she was, "Oh God! We didn't-"

"No!" He interrupted her quickly, "I was outside the whole night, I swear."

She breathed a sigh of relief, "I don't remember anything about last night."

"Well...I found you drinking like a sailor in a pub and brought you back here to keep watch over you." He said grinning, thinking he had done a great thing.

"I was alone in a pub?" She seemed confused.

"Well...yes...although I believe you had a companion at one point that seemed to wander off somewhere..."

"Will." She said simply. She was quiet a moment as the thoughts of what had happened before she drank came flooding back. "I don't know what to do Jack...He says he doesn't want to marry me...that he can't trust me..." Her eyes were sparkling with tears ready to fall remembering his harsh words. Jack had never been very good at emotional moments.

"Well I have a bone to pick with him meself...leaving you alone in a shady place like that at night...your lucky I came along and found you...there were a few men that had their eye on you..."

"Thank you Jack...but I think I would have liked to have been left alone...doesn't matter what happens to me anymore anyway..." She laid back down facing away from him.

Jack really did feel bad for her, he didn't know what to say, but he did know he had to find Will, they would be casting off at noon, and here it was past ten. He locked the door again and set off swaying down the ramp to search for the stupid whelp. He didn't have to search far before he saw a figure on the ground in an alley. He went over and nudged at him with his foot to make sure he was breathing. After he groaned and rolled over away from Jack, Jack gave him a far swifter kick.

"Ow, what's your problem-" Will turned to see it was Jack and sat up. "Oh...it's you..." He said and rubbed his face.

"Why did you leave your beloved in a bar, alone, last night?" Jack said, deciding just to come right out with it.

"What do you care?" Will said in a hard voice.

"I care because I had to drag, and I do mean drag, her drunken self back onto me ship, and it completely ruined me night of fun." He explained.

"Well I'm sorry Jack. I'm sure it must have been terrible having to stay with her all night," he looked at the pirate sarcastically.

"Trust me, nothing happened," Jack assured him as Will got to his feet.

"I trust you as much as I trust her." He said lowly. "So sounds like you two had a good time last night then, thanks for the wake up call, Jack, but I can make it to Barbossa's ship from here." He elbowed roughly passed him.

"Do you know what Elizabeth is doing right now, William?" Jack called after him. Will stopped, not turning around. "She's holed up in me quarters wishing she wasn't alive because the man she loves told her he didn't want to marry her." Although it hurt Will terribly to think about her doing this, and he felt torn at his emotions, he was too stubborn to act like he cared.

"Good thing she has you then..." He said quietly and walked off towards the ships. Jack caught up with Barbossa, he may not know much about relationships, but obviously these two needed to work things out.

"I'm in need of another man, a few of mine jumped ship here," he said to Barbossa a few minuets later.

"Aye, take who ye want." He said, obviously hung over.

"Your a diamond, mate," and with that, Jack climbed aboard the smaller ship and spotted Will.

"William. I'm in need of your assistance on me own ship now, savvy?" He swaggered up to him. Will looked back at him like he was crazy.

"I'm not getting on that ship," he looked at Jack confused. Barbossa walked up behind them,

"Aye, ye are now," he said and quickly went off into his quarters.

"Ah, see? Now you don't have a choice." Jack grinned. Will sighed and threw the rope down he had been holding. He stomped off to the Pearl without another word. Jack smiled at himself as he followed him onto his ship. Surely this would help, right? A few hours after taking off, they were restocked and refreshed and ready to sail. Jack had to admit, having Will onboard did get the work done faster. Will always pulled his weight when he worked, and Jack had taught him the ropes so he was a good addition. After having Gibbs man the wheel, he knew he had to somehow get Will and Elizabeth alone to work out their problems.

"Oi, William," he called. Will looked back at him. "I need you to retrieve the map from me quarters." Will stared at him a moment.

"Why can't you do it?" He said harshly.

"Because I am captain of this ship, I make the orders around here, so go fetch me map!" He said raising his eyebrows. Will stared in hate for a moment, then trudged into the captain quarters. Jack quickly trotted after him and locked the door behind him. Ha! Now they would have no choice but to talk. Will heard the door click behind him, why, that little- but as he thought about how much he hated Jack, a small voice surprised him.

"Will?" He quickly turned and saw Elizabeth standing by a window. He quickly looked at the ground, he felt too hurt to talk to her right now. He looked for the map but there was no sign of it anywhere.

"It's not in here, Jack!" He yelled through the door. "Keep looking, I'm sure I left it there somewhere." He heard Jack call back to him. Elizabeth stood very still and quiet. He glanced at her, then tried the door. It was locked, of course.

"Unlock this door!" Will yelled, pulling on the handle. Silence. He knew what Jack was doing and he hated him for it. He finally gave in and sat down in a wooden chair, crossing his arms.

"Will...I need to be honest with you..." He heard behind him.

"Well that would be a first," he said quietly. Elizabeth walked over and stood in front of him.

"I kissed Jack...again. A few weeks ago while we were on deck. It meant nothing, Will, I swear. It was just an accident." She looked determined.

"Just an accident..." He laughed sarcastically shaking his head. "Elizabeth, I'm not stupid. I know you have feelings for him, and him you. Why else do you think he split us up on different ships?" He looked up at her.

"Will, I wanted to be on the ship with you, you know that!" She said loudly.

"Yes but you didn't try very hard!"

"Neither did you!" She retorted angrily. "Maybe he did have feelings for me at some point, but he doesn't anymore, why else would he lock us in a room together?"

"Because he feels guilty," Will answered.

"No, because he wants us to work things out! He watched over me all night because you weren't there! You left me alone, at night, in a pirate port! I didn't think even you could be that thick!" She was growing very angry. Will was so damn stubborn she just wanted to slap it out of him.

"You don't think I feel bad about that?" He said loudly, standing up. Elizabeth took a step back. "You don't think I know how stupid I was for drinking? For putting your life in danger? I'm well aware!" He said taking a step towards her. Will was a fierce fighter and not easily intimidated, Elizabeth didn't like it when he got angry like this, his eyes would get dark and he seemed to want to get in your personal space to be intimidating.

"Realizing your mistakes doesn't make them any more right," she said low and harsh, staring him in the eyes. "...that's why I'm trying to apologize." She said.

"Apologies mean nothing if it's going to happen again..." He stared her straight back in the eye.

"It's not going to." She said definately, "we could have done anything last night Will, I was drunker then I had ever been, but instead he made sure I was safe...does that scream untrustworthy to you?" Will seemed to be at a loss of words for this. "When are you going to come to your senses and realize I only love you, Will...?"

He stared at her, as though looking for a sign that she was lying.

"If you can't accept my apology then maybe it's time we went our separate ways." She turned to leave but he forcefully grabbed her arm and pulled her back around where he crashed his lips upon hers, desperate to get as much of her as he could. One hand on her back, the other in her hair, he deepened the kiss and she threw her arms over his shoulders, and he moved his hands to her waist. All of the jealousy, every heated word, every bit of anger they had felt toward each other was being expressed in that kiss. It was passionate, needy, angry... Will's hands held her very tightly, he didn't want to let her go. But they finally had to break apart to gasp for air. Will leaned his forehead against hers panting.

"I'm sorry," he said quietly, "for not trusting you."

She shook her head, "I'm sorry for giving you a reason to doubt me..."

"I think we're even," he said grinning. She brought her hand up to his face, tracing his jaw line and then lips. He closed his eyes. He had missed her so much, and he felt so guilty about all the horrible things he had said.

"Elizabeth...I don't know how I could ever make this up to you..." his puppy eyes were back, she forgot how handsome he was when he wasn't angry. His eyes could melt her in a minute.

"Just say you'll marry me...if you still want me, that is..."

"Of course I want you...I'll always want you..." He said kissing her forehead, then her cheek, then her chin.

"Show me..." She said quietly before she could stop herself. But he didn't miss a beat, he kept kissing her, her neck, her collar bone, her face. She leaned her head back enjoying his touch. It was as though electricity was running through her body. Her hands were holding tightly to his arms. He backed her up against the wall, where he continued to plant delicate kisses anywhere skin was showing. A sudden knock made him stop and sigh, smiling.

"Did you find that map yet?" He heard Jack say.

"Yes, I believe I did, Jack." He called out.

"Oh...good!"

Elizabeth pulled out the map from under her dress, and Will laughed, snatching it from her. They broke apart and Jack unlocked the door.

"Is it safe to come in?" He said peeking in the door.

"Yes, it's fine." Will grinned.

"Oh great you found it! I was beginning to worry," he said taking it from Will. He turned to leave.

"Thank you, Jack." Will said. "For what?" Jack looked mock confused, grinned, then walked out.
