So to all my readers: this story is mainly to test out my writing style so if I switch from first to third person point of view I am sorry. I love this story so I will be writing it for a long time but please bear with me when I do something different, fill free to PM me or review on what works and what doesn't (just be gentle) and enjoy the story! Also I may be taking longer to update due to my friends getting married and me being the best maid for three weddings in a row.

Onto the story:

July 18th

I was flying, finally after a month I was able to escape the paranoid bat's glare long enough for me to go pull a disappearing act and take a little time to myself.

I was brought back to the Cave on a Sunday a week and a half after the team's first mission and the first time I saw a ghost in this world. They were deciding who I was supposed to room with next but I wasn't really paying any attention so when the opportunity arose I left. I had been agonizing over it all week, what did Skulker mean when he said they were coming for me? Why were the Observants mad at me again? Did my other self escape? Why did Clockwork call me his king? And why couldn't I go home yet?

Well I sort of have an answer to that last one, apparently since I helped bring down the android last time and I am new to this place Batman decided to put me on the team, in my human form (they didn't know about my ghost form yet), gre-e-a-at.

It isn't that I don't like the team, they are awesome! Megan and Aqualad are great and Superboy can be nice when you're not trying to get him do something but both Robin and Wally are really touchy-feely. It wasn't really bad with Robin until after the first prank Robin and I pulled on Wally.

What happened was the day after the mission we all met at the Cave again, Robin and I chose to first make him start running (which wasn't hard) and then make him trip on my ice and while he was sliding have Robin walk into his path. With me behind him invisibly so make him intangible at the last second, and watch Wally's expression when he passed through his best friend.

"Hey KF! I think I saw some more cookies in the kitchen!" shouted Robin and just like that he was off, KF slipped on my ice within the first few steps and fell on his butt as he basically sled toward the kitchen wall, of course Robin was right where he wanted to be… but I decided to add a little bit more to the prank. Instead of Wally going through Robin, I attached a sticky bit off ectoplasm to them as they crashed into one another, Wally taking Robin down at the knees and sliding faster and faster to the wall. They both screeched before I turned the wall intangible and invisible, and took their picture as they slid by. The looks on their faces were priceless!

At that point of time I felt like my powers were the ultimate cheat in this world. After that, 'though, they both chased after me unable to separate from each other, though that was my mistake they suddenly got really quiet and started whispering something to Megan.

I saw both Superboy's and Aqualad's head nod slightly before I realized what they did. Megan had linked everyone except me (because she couldn't) and now it was me against the rest of the team. Long story short: Robin and KF were stuck to each other for another hour and the entire team ended up covered in jelly, flour, and dust. (They chased me into the kitchen and Megan used her telekinesis to move the jelly and I used my ectoblasts to cut holes in the bags of flour).

I hadn't noticed that an hour had passed until I drifted by a sign that displayed the time and weather. Turning I flew as fast as I could back to the mountain, watching as my reflection raced me on the taller buildings before disappearing again.

I was in a simple white dress with a heart-shape neckline and a v-string collar, around my midsection was what I guess would be a black corset with my insignia. Surprisingly it was pretty comfortable but it did make breathing deeply a lot harder.

My hair, as always, had turned snow white but it had two small streaks of black in my bangs that fell into my toxic green eyes. Under the dress where some black shorts and on my feet were black boots that laced up until my ankles, thankfully with no heels. My hair was held back by a simple black headband.

As I neared the mountain I landed and transformed back into my human form, so far no one knew about my alter ego and I kind of preferred that, when they trusted me a little more I would tell them, but until then I was just a 'meta-human'. That's what they called humans with special powers here.

I had finally arrived at the hanger door and began to walk in, lined up in front of me were Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Black Canary, Hawk Girl, Red Tornado, Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern (two of them), and Aquaman. Some of the others couldn't come to the meeting so that was why most of the Justice League women weren't there. I had gotten back just as they had chosen who was to be my next 'host' (cough babysitter cough).

"Danny, Black Canary has told us about your 'condition'. Because of that the league has decided to have… Superman take care of you for the next month. You will be with him in Metropolis, about an hour and a half by car from where you live with Canary, she will still be helping you so I expect you to continue with your sessions."

Oh, I could just tell how thrilled Superman was with this (read the sarcasm), his face paled and his hand clenched into fists so hard his knuckles turned white, to be fair I haven't been the kindest person to Superman but I really wasn't happy with the way that he treated his clone. Dani was made half-dead and I still loved her like a daughter… or would she be a son in this dimension? Anyway I wasn't going to let this chance slip by so…

"Why is Superman taking care of me and not Superboy?" I asked, and I caught a barely there smirk on Batman's face. What was Batman up to?

He stood up to address the group. "Danny has a fair point since Superboy is about the same threat level as Danny –"

"Hey!"

"- We should have someone watch over them, at least for a month. Superman, a month after Danny, Superboy will be at your house."

So that is what the Bat was up to! Use me to get Superman to spend time with Superboy, awesome! He just got on my good side, I guess I could be a little nicer to him.

While Superman tried to argue and everyone's attention was on him, Batman and I shared a glance and I smiled at him while he smirked back. Seems like Robin got his love for pranks from Batman.

I hiccupped and felt something escape my body, it wasn't my blue mist but something pleasant filled the air around and everyone eventually calmed down.

Shrugging I moved to sit down at the table and hiccupped again, this time when I felt something escape from me I started to worry. Was something wrong? A sense of unease permeated the air and everyone slowly began to move toward their weapons as the argument that had just started over something really irrelevant mounted higher and higher.

I did a body sweep in my mind, the only thing out of place seemed to be the headache I began to form as the shouting got louder. So far no one had thrown the first punch but everyone seemed to be just one push away, I looked harder at myself, maybe if I could get them to focus on something else they would stop fighting. I would often use this trick when Sam and Tucker were fighting over something stupid, they never figured it out. Maybe I could do the same thing to these people.

Suddenly a picture came to my mind of the Justice League arguing over a veggie or meat lover's pizza, and I almost started laughing, instead what came out was another hiccup and again I felt an odd sensation leave me. I was too preoccupied with my mental image to really care though and was still trying not to laugh, something strange happened.

One of the Green Lanterns started to laugh as the other one slipped up saying something and instead just messed up the word completely. Eventually the entire League started laughing (except Batman who just smirked) and I felt the strange thing that left me return to my body.

Wait a minute, the League just went from having a pleasant conversation, to a roaring argument and are now laughing like that slip up was the funniest thing in the world. My emotions went from happy about Superboy to worried and unease about what was happening to me, to amuse at the mental image I had come up with… Had I gained a new power?

Before I could test it the Mountain seemed to come to life with the sounds of beeps. Batman stood up and walked swiftly down the various corridors that led to the inner most part of the Cave (as everyone seemed to call the mountainous hideout… weird, I know). Anyways, everyone was following after feeling somber and ready to be deployed at a moment's notice, maybe I hadn't gained a new power and the League just had the mood swings of a hormonal teenager…

We had arrived in a group around the projector that had various screen shots frozen for all to see, one had a picture of a bridge support creaking as millions of cars drove over it, another had some jewelry store being held up at gun point, another was a shot of the jungle with large areas decimated and more dying as seconds passed, and a couple of other crimes.

Without saying a word everyone, save for Batman, claimed their fight and left the cave, I don't know how they knew they wouldn't get in each other's way but it was less than two minutes and suddenly I was left alone with Batman.

"So what's this about threat level?" I asked. If anything I should be the number one threat! I wasn't public enemy number one for nothing, I refuse to share my spot with someone I could easily beat blindfolded.

Batman didn't answer, he just stared at a sheet that appeared next to a forested picture with some weird snake-like design watermarked in the corner of it.

A few minutes later and he was calling Robin on his special Bat-phone… This guy is obsessed.

"Robin, I need you to call the team together. I have a mission for you." if I didn't have super hearing I wouldn't have heard the excited whoop on the other end of the line. Robin must have been going stir-crazy, we didn't really have that many missions that relied on covert. Mostly we were sent to stop robberies and get cats out of trees, stuff like that.

Batman hung up the phone and turned to me, seemingly to just realize I was still there and saw the small smile he let out when he spoke to Robin. (Aww. Daddy Bats is adorable!) He cleared his throat and reached into one of his many pockets inside his utility belt, eventually he pulled out a dark blue and white cell phone and tossed it to me. "That is how we will get in contact with you, so don't lose it." He growled.

The debriefing went quickly, some guy in Santa Prisca wasn't supplying the usual drugs in the usual trade deposits. Batman wanted us to be quiet and discreet and find out what they were up to, we were not to get involved and we were to contact Bats when we find out why.

"So who will be the leader?" Robin asked, I could hear the excitement in his voice. He obviously suspected Bats to choose him since he was the one with the most 'on the job' training in this world. I looked at Kid Flash and then at Superboy. Ye-e-a-ah… That's not going to fly by so easily.

"You are to decide yourselves, begin planning on how to infiltrate the island and then be off in one hour." Batman said before he stalked off. Man that guy needed to lighten up! Even his walk looked grumpy. Of course I was the only one thinking this as all the other 'partners' crowed around a table that had the security of the island laid out.

"Talk about big brother government." I mumbled to myself, but Superboy heard me and sent a hard glare in my direction before turning back to the task at hand. The island was equipped with heat and motion sensors, seismic sensors, trip wires (in the freaking jungle), cameras, voice activation droids, and, of course, the classic army of guns-men. Piece of cake.

"Okay so obviously we need to first fool the heat and motion sensors," Robin said, our only mode of transportation was Miss. M.'s ship so at least we were all thinking on the right page. "How about we send Aqualad in here and he swims to shore and shorts out the machines?"

"They will be alerted if we just short out the machines." I said, obviously this stuff was watched so any anomaly will be reported "What if we just put the feed in a loop?"

Robin and KF looked at each other before going over some complicated devices that would do as I said. When that was done we moved on. "Next we have the voice activation droids and cameras outside the building, but that is only saying that we get past the trip wires in the jungle and the army of men with guns." KF said, "Should be easy."

"I can download the patterns the droids follow so we don't cross their path and we just have to be stealthy enough to avoid the cameras, everybody clear on that?" Robin asked, we all nodded and began to head to the ship. That reminds me, I wonder if Miss. M. would allow me to take it for a ride. I would just have ask her after the mission.

It was a full two hours before we got to the spot just outside of radar range and dropped Aqualad into the ocean, we waited in silence before his voice sounded over the coms. "I am in position, heat and motion sensors are patched, move in."

We all stood and got into position from drop zone B, KF and Robin pushing the insignia's on their chests to convert their bright colors into black. Wally turned to where Miss. M. and I were and tried (and failed) to impress us with the 'stealth tech'. Miss. M. again used the trick of her clothes to also change into a darker version of her superhero outfit, the only changing I did was to put on the extra mask Robin had given me.

"Last chance to try the new stealth tech Supie." KF taunted.

"No capes. No tights. No offense." He said. 'Hey! Spandex is not 'tights' thank you very much!' I seethed in my head.

Megan said something before lines began to fall in front of us from the ceiling. "No thanks" I said, while as cool as the ship is I didn't need it to help me land from three stories up. A hole opened up on the bottom of the ship and Robin, KF, and Megan went first. I jumped after, not really slowing my fall since I didn't need it. I landed silently next to Robin and had to push Megan out of the way when Superboy crash landed where she once stood.

"See? If she doesn't need a line, neither do I." you could hear the smug-ness in his voice and the irritation in Robin's when he responded.

"And yet creating a seismic event doesn't help much in the covert part of our mission," he checked his holo-computer before continuing on. "But luckily the sensors didn't pick up on it too much."

The two glared until I stood in between them and radioed Aqualad "Hey, we're alive and kickin'."

"Head to the factory, we will meet up there and then continue the plan." He replied.

"Roger!" with the transmission ended we all headed into the jungle, toward the building we were supposed to stake-out.

It was slow going and we had agreed on the ship that we would not radio until we were sure it was safe so it was also silent. As we got closer and closer to the base the traps in the forest grew higher in numbers, more than once I had to use one of my powers to save one of the group or myself from falling into a clever trap. Robin was up ahead leading us with his computer away from the droids and ever closer to our target, when suddenly a branch snapped. Superboy and I froze and signaled the others to stop.

"Did you hear that?" I whispered, only Superboy nodded.

"What did you hear? Wait, is this a super hearing thing?" KF asked.

Megan just looked dreamily at Superboy, when I noticed that Robin was missing. Luckily he wasn't too far ahead, but far enough to not be in human hearing range any more.

"Dang it! I hate it when he does that!" Wally said, well, to be fair, this was only the second time he just expected us to follow his lead, without actually telling us what that lead was.

I sighed, "Okay, hide in the darkness and make sure we are not being followed. Robin seems to know what he is doing." Kid lowered his goggles and Superboy's eye took on a dark red colour, I did my own tracking as well.

Luckily Megan was turned away and focused more on SB then she was on me. My eye glowed faintly and I saw two parties of men on a jungle foot trail but that wasn't what I was looking out for. It would not surprise me if a ghost showed up, after Skulker's appearance and Clockworks gift it had been way to quiet and knowing my luck, ghosts would be showing up very soon.

My green vision showed nothing as I scanned the area, I blinked back my vision just in time for Aqualad to join the group. "What does it look like?" he asked, though strangely he was facing in my direction when he asked that.

"Two squads of armed bozo's" Kid said. "But they will meet each other before they meet us."

Gun shots echoed as the two troops met. "Not super hearing required now" Megan quipped.

"We should swing wide and steer clear." Aqualad said, but of course Kid was already gone, he rounded the bend and tripped on a wire causing him to slide in the mud right into the middle of the gun fight. Well there goes covert.

The two enemies started shooting at Kid who back flipped to avoid the bullets, while they were distracted Superboy tackled one of the bosses and I tackled the other, quickly knocking them out and using some ghost goo to tie them to a tree. When I looked back I saw SB breaking out of an arm lock and overpowering his victim.

Robin decided to pay us a visit, angrily punching out bad guys and asking us why we didn't follow his non-existent lead. Seriously! How had these children survived so far? Oh yeah, I told off their mentors when they saved SB.

Now I kind of wish I hadn't, these guys knew their stuff but they obviously didn't know how to work with people they haven't worked with all their super hero lives. We didn't even officially elect a leader for this outfit either.

Of course they were new to this and still learning, so I can't expect them to be a well-oiled machine like Sam, Tuck and I. Even at the beginning of our ghost hunting we had worked together for ages, simply by growing up as friends, we could practically read each other's minds. This was new to me so even I had something to learn.

We had tied the two group to separate trees and broke all their weapons (in case one side got out and tried to massacre the other) and then we went over the facts of the mission.

"I know these uniforms." Robin said, "They belong to the cult of the Cobra."

We were all standing together, seeing the unease being passed from face to face got me uneasy. Would Batman really send us to a place with dangerous extremists? I doubt it, but then again this was a recon mission so maybe if we had actually stuck to the plan we wouldn't be in a situation like this.

"We should radio Bats."

"No! I need to find out what's happening"

"Why you? Who made you the boss?"

Both Robin and KF started fighting, honestly it was getting rather annoying. We weren't getting anywhere anytime soon so I decided to tune them out. One of the guys we tied up started murmuring to his cohorts in Spanish. Let's see what I remember from class…

"Argue, freedom self… distracted." Hey, give me a break! Most of the time I was fighting ghosts, I didn't have the time to learn anything.

"Quiet! Play ….give me…want." The taller one replied, interesting. So the big one is wants something and from the context clues I got we can provide it to them. I grinned before walking over and squatting in front of the leader.

"So we can get you something you want? How about a deal?" I said, this shut up the two squabbling about Batman and who was leader. Everyone looked at me like I was crazy before the big guy laughed loudly.

"So you can speak Spanish, pretty missy?" He said, his painted white face took on a menacing gleam to it.

"Yep." I said, popping the 'p'. No need to let the bad guy know that I can't understand most of what he said. "So, how about it?" I continued.

"Such a clever pretty miss. You lot only know half the story, let me show you the factory via my secret entrance."

Megan knelt in front of him and began to read his mind. "He's hiding something but there is a secret entrance." She was concentrating hard but this man had obviously dealt with a mind reader before because soon after she sighed and looked dejected. "It's no use, he's reciting football scores in Spanish."

"Really?" I squeaked, I may not like some of the people playing football but no hot blooded American in his right mind could resist the game! I sat next to Megan and pushed my consciousness into the man's. Oh, his 'name' is Bane… good to know.

Ouch, his team was stomped last week in the play-offs 57 to 10. I could still feel the anger that came from the loss, putting my hand on his shoulder I said "Sorry about the play-offs man." Before standing up and walking over to re-join the group.

"Hey! Chica, tell your team that the decision isn't hard! The enemy of my enemy is my friend."

While true, that only lasts until the 'enemy' is defeated. Still he knew a way in so I didn't really have a choice, with a unanimous vote we untied him and followed his lead into the jungle towards the fortress.

We arrived on top of a hill overlooking the factory and watched as product was loaded onto the tarmac in boxes.

"A buy is going down! But if Cobra isn't selling to the usual crowd then—" Robin was cut off by Aqualad.

"We need to find out who the buyer is." He finished.

"Just what I was thinking." KF said, he looked unusually tense with Bane standing next to him. When Bane moved to stand to the side he relaxed slowly.

"Yeah, you're a thinker." Robin said before we all turned and watched Bane throw a large boulder to the side, showing the inside of a large dark tunnel. We walked for about fifteen minutes when we came to a metal door that had a fingerprint scanner. Bane scanned and then lead us to the main factory floor. It looked empty but I seriously doubted it would stay that way.

Both Kid and Robin disappeared shortly after entering the open space and Bane mocked us on our leadership, I tried the coms but the resulting static told me that this wasn't a situation I wanted to be under prepared for. Bane continued forward but I grabbed hold of Aqualad and Superboy before they could.

"Look guys, Radios are down. We need an exit strategy and a battle plan before we get moving again." The looks of shock passed briefly when they tried the radio themselves and they nodded to me.

"What's the plan?" Megan asked.

"First, we need to secure an exit. I say this door, it's unguarded and we know the path out. Any questions?" none.

"Okay, what should we do if we are confronted?" Superboy asked, this time Aqualad answered.

"Spread out to avoid fire but stay within shouting range, we should only fight if we need to and as a means of retreat."

We all nodded and, with a plan in place, moved out. Hiding behind a box of older Venom we watched as more crates of boxes moved the new Venom out, we didn't have to wait long before Superboy and I heard a whirring sound.

"Helicopter," we said at the same time. It landed a couple minutes later and we watched as people began to file outside. A man walked out of the plane and began to converse in whispered tones, I managed to hear about the shipment being ready but I didn't catch anything else. Judging by SB's face, he didn't either. Megan had gone ahead in camouflage mode to get an image of the buyer, no one was expecting us so I felt she would be relatively safe for the moment.

"Sports Master." Aqualad looked shocked, I don't know who this guy is but he didn't seem like good news. "He's the buyer? This isn't good, we need to inform the Justice League."

"We can't, remember?" I said.

"Doesn't matter to me!" Bane jumped over the edge of the rail way and began to punch some of the red robed men standing guard near the factory, I should have known that he just wanted to use us as a distraction. The gun fire attracted attention quickly and a shadow busted through the window before bringing down the catwalk and forcing us to fight too.

Robin and Wally ran out of an office like room and joined in the fray, it looked like Aqualad and Superboy were following our plan. We spread out and slowly began to retreat toward the door we came from, Robin landed next to me and took out a guy with his stun gun. "Danny! These guys have a mixture of Cobra Venom and the Block Buster formula!"

An explosion sounded above us and Megan was thrown into a metal piping. "Less talk, we need to retreat!" I said. Of course that was when a giant hulking monster stepped right in front of us cracking its knuckles. Curse my luck!

The monster looked like its skin had been ripped apart on its shoulder, red muscle peeked out from underneath both disturbing and grossing out me greatly. It threw a punch and I blocked it instinctively, the hit was about as heavy as Superboy's would be. My arm crumpled a bit at the unexpected power when I surged forward and used my body to flip the beast over my shoulder, I had lost Robin somewhere but Superboy come over to give me a hand.

Aqualad was using a water shield to deflect the bullets and KF was running around knocking people over and disarming them as fast as he could. I felt a niggle in my head, seeing as no one on the other side seemed to be using mind based attacks I cautiously let the intruder in. Ready to push them away or bomb them with emotions and memories.

"Everyone online?" Megan's voice asked.

Superboy had taken a punch but I heard a reluctant "Yeah" followed by other affirmations from the rest of the team, I shut them out without letting them know that I was in the conversation.

My mind was ready for the attack, I trained so no one could ever use it against me, and if I responded or kept listening I could injure someone gravely. Aqualad would probably follow the plan I had set up earlier so I just needed to follow that and be ready to get to inventing something that would protect the team from myself.

I started for the doors and soon after the rest of the team followed, we ran inside and locked it before anyone could follow knocking down a few support beams for extra measure. When Bane had led us through earlier the lights came on automatically but they didn't now so I used a green ecto-ball to light the area in front of us as we walked to the exit.

"How could my first mission as leader go so wrong?" Robin asked.

"Easily." I said, I didn't want to talk right now so I let Aqualad pick up where I left off.

"You have the most experience out of all of us… except for Danny…. Maybe that's why you were under prepared."

I could feel something was off, no one could follow us so something at the front entrance must be waiting for us. I half listened to the conversation as we walked.

"Fighting with the Batman, your roles are defined… You don't need to communicate but this team is new and a leader must be clear and decisive, always ready for what is to come next. He or she cannot vanish and expect others to play parts of an unknown plan." Apparently I wasn't the only one mad about that.

"Oh so I'm the one who's supposed to hold everyone's hands?" Robin burst out angrily, the tension was rising quickly between the two.

"Yes!" I shouted "What part of new team, do you not get? We have our own individual skill set and a leader is supposed to know what others can do and lead them toward that." I didn't mean to shout like that - I didn't do a good job being a team member either, I let others make mistakes when they didn't need to and I didn't share information that would have been helpful to know. I also intentionally cut off contact with the others, though that was mostly to protect them.

"Your right." Kid said, "You should lead –"

"No." I said. "Batman doesn't trust me and I am only on this team so he can keep an eye on me, I may be here for a while but you don't know when I might need to just up and leave. I can't do that if I am the leader."

"Kaldur should lead us," Robin said. "He had the plan to link us up and he can think ahead to problems we might face. Come on! If not Danny then Kaldur is the one." We all agreed.

"Very well. But you, Robin, were born to lead this team, until it's time to take the burden off my shoulders I shall carry this team. 'Though I do think we need a co-leader, one to act in case I am unable for some reason and challenge the leader should they think something better. I say Danny should be that co-leader." This time everyone but me agree, I was out voted.

"Fine! But our first priority should be to stop that shipment from leaving the island." I said.

"We should have about an hour, I crippled the helicopter before we ran." Robin said "Now we know that Sports Master is the supplier/buyer but it still doesn't make sense…. He doesn't have the power to get the formula or get Cobra to do the dirty work."

"And neither of them have the ability to combine the two, that takes some major nerding, I should know!" KF said, we were finally almost out of the tunnel when Kal slowed down.

"I believe we are in even more trouble than we assumed." In front of us Bane stepped out to block the exit of the tunnel.

"Halt! I am feeling explosive." bombs lined the wall of the cave. Kal asked why Bane would betray us.

"I want two things, my factory back and the pretty missy as queen." Kid began to back up, his suit aiding in not being seen. "So I forced a conflict that would end in my advantage. Where you would either take down my enemies or die trying." he said.

"Uh-huh. And how did I come into the picture?" I asked. Seriously, how many bad guys were going to try this? Was this normal? Did all super heroines have to go through this?

"Pretty Missy, you have been the only cunning one. Even in this situation I can see in your eyes that you are planning an escape, such intelligence needs to be rewarded. My people would rejoice in such a queen."

Ew! This guy was how many years older than me? No. Way.

"Uh-uh-uh Missy, one wrong move and all your friends get killed. Now slowly walk over here." I did, not that his threat phased me much but I didn't want the others to have to deal with burns or Kid to be buried before he managed to do whatever he was doing. When I was close enough one of his goons tied a rope around me.

"Now, the Justice League will have to avenge their little sidekicks!" he screamed while laughing, he pushed down and expected to hear explosions, instead he saw KF tossing the bomb remote in his hand.

"Looking for this?" he asked. Bane grabbed me and held a knife to my throat

"Don't move!" he said, the others just looked at each other and laughed. Bane was confused until I flipped him over my shoulder and smashed him into the ground.

"I think being a queen would be a royal pain." (A/N: Sorry this was bad, running low on sleep if you think of a better response review and I can update it.)especially since I already was a KING!

Bane was out for the count and we finally decided to put some plans into action, we were about to head back out when I saw my breath.

"Hey guys? I need to do something, meet you at the ship?" I asked. They all looked at me strangely but I guess my expression said whatever they needed to know so they nodded and headed off to confront Cobra.

"All right!" I said turning. "Who is it this time?" shifting into my phantom form I floated and let my senses stretch to their limits. They were met by a loud screeching sound.

"So Skulker was right, you did change into a girl." heat began to surround me, and Ember appeared in the middle of the flames. "Well portals do have that effect sometimes. Usually it's really rare to find one of those. How bad is your luck?" she asked.

"Pretty bad" I said.

"Not too bad, at least you're a hot girl." Ember said, I was beginning to relax it didn't seem like Ember wanted to fight right now. Of course that was when a musical fist was slammed into me from behind, that's when I noticed Ember didn't have her guitar. Behind me Young Blood arrived, he was holding Ember's guitar and smiling.

"Did you see that? I totally hit a girl!" he said. I hit him in the chest with a blast from my hands before throwing ice as Ember as she tried to approach. The ice cut through her fiery blue hair and caused water to rain down on the grass below. Young Blood recovered and shot bullets from his peg leg. I dodged and began to ask, "When did you learn guitar?"

Another round of bullets before he said, "Ember taught me. But I'm not the only one whose learned a few tricks!" just then I felt a searing pain in my side, Ember made a sword out of flames and slashed at me. The sword cut my dress and my torso, but luckily the flames cauterized the wound, although my side did burn and blister.

"So you can teach an old sea dog new tricks." I mocked Young Blood, he may look young but at the last Christmas party truce I learned that he actually died when he was eighty seven years old but due to being raise in a rich boy house hold he never got to experience the open seas or childlike wonderment so when he became a ghost he transformed into a child.

"Grr, shut up you!" he said, strumming harder on the cords of the guitar. I dodged the fist - which ended up breaking a tree in half - and flipped over another attack from Ember.

"Come on! It's not like Ember can play anything good. She's been booed off the staged twice now! Well I guess those who can't play teach, right?" maybe I shouldn't have said that, as Ember's hair flamed up to twice as high and three times as hot.

They both launched at me, brandishing their weapons. I waited 'till the last second before turning intangible.

Ember's sword cut the chords of the guitar and got stuck in the wood, I threw a punch at them both and knocked them back into some trees but, right before I could suck them in the thermos I carried in my ghost form, they knocked me back with twin ecto-blasts.

Obviously ground fighting wasn't going to work for long. I climbed out of the crater I made and launched myself into the air. The two followed me throwing blasts of flame and shooting bullets, I needed to get rid of one before I could get rid of the other. I looked around maybe I could use something as a distraction?

To my left a helicopter exploded, Young Blood looked amazed at the giant fireball while Ember contemplated if she could use the heat somehow against me, now was my chance! I grabbed the thermos and sucked in Ember before she could do anything with the flaming death trap less than a mile away.

"No-o-o-o!" she screamed. Well that plan work wondrously, now to get the other one. Young Blood had obviously heard Ember scream and had just now realized the trouble he was in. I grinned and began to punch him towards the ground, when he hit I sucked him in the thermos as well and landed near the crash site of the helicopter.

I checked for survivors but no one was around, I shot ice blasts at the ship and changed back before anyone could see me. Then I preceded to the bio-ship, slowly dragging what I could of the helicopter behind me. This stuff was evidence.

By the time we got back to Mount Justice I was tired and messy, all I wanted to do was sleep but we had to report in to Batman… That was going to be fun… not.

"A simple recon mission, observe and report. You will each receive a written evaluation detailing your many mistakes, until then… Good job." Batman said, he smirked a little when everyone relaxed.

"No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy, how you adjust to the unforeseen is what determines success, and how you choose who leads shows character." He walked away and let us go to rest with our families or at the Cave.

Oh yeah, today I start my live in with Superman.

Batman's p.o.v.

Danny had brought back the totaled helicopter from where it had landed in the forest, I was going to start looking over it for any sort of evidence that might help lead us to what the bad guys are planning, but when I started I was thinking about Danny. She obviously has super strength, cyrokinesis, beam or ray powers, the ability to turn invisible and intangible, and can mold whatever the green ectoplasm is by will. What else could she be hiding?

Around the tail end of the Heli-craft I noticed something green smudged along the edge of the fin. I took samples and put it in my computer to find out what it was, sitting down with some coffee I expected a long wait. What happened instead was an instant match to Danny's blood. 'Was Danny hurt? Did the enemy somehow cut her? Was she okay? I stopped myself, how did I know that the enemy didn't have the same type of sample in their weapons? And why was I so worried about Danny?'

I leaned back sipping the bitter black coffee, Danny projected a feeling of peace and safety. 'How did I become so affected by it?'

My computer beeped drawing my attention to the screen, something else was mixed into Danny's blood, and it wasn't there before so it must have been recently introduced to her system. I looked closer, was that...? Oh no. Danny!
