"Escort?"
The frog named Aogaeru seemed to be impatient, "Yes. Unfortunately everyone else seems busy. We will only be away a day or two so you don't need to bring anything."
Chihiro frowned, but didn't have much of a choice but to agree. As she followed the frog down the hallway and into the elevator she wondered why everyone seemed so impatient for her to regain her memories.
What exactly happened before?
She snapped out of her thoughts when Aogaeru called out to her and she followed him to the entrance. The sun was setting and most of the employees were bustling around preparing sections for guests, just how long had she slept? Rin spotted her and waved her over. Aogaeru huffed but hopped over to Rin as well.
"I imagine you're heading to Zeniba's?"
Aogaeru nodded and replied grumpily, "Yes we were, until you stopped us."
Chihiro giggled a bit when Rin put her hands to her hips and replied haughtily, "Well excuse me for wanting to say 'Hi' to my favorite human before she set off."
As the argued a few members of staff paused to giggle and chuckle, and Chihiro's eyes began to wander around the main area. Most of the workers looked human, but there was tones of animals and things you read about in fairy tales.
Chihiro's eyes landed on a certain person, and she couldn't help but stare. The man was very tall, about 6"-6"5'. He looked strong but his muscles weren't all that toned, making his arms look very smooth. He was very pale, but his height and facial features weren't what made her star. It was his dark green, almost black hair, cut just above his shoulder.
What a weird haircut, She couldn't help but giggle a little bit.
When he turned to address someone behind him she got a glance of his eyes and sucked in a breath.
Emerald green.
The same colour as the dragon that had saved her twice just before coming here. She quickly tore her gaze from him and felt like hiding in a hole, even more so when she realized he looked like the boy in her paintings.
Oh god, kill me now.
To her relief, Rin and Aogaeru had stopped arguing, and Rin called Chihiro, "Oi, get out of here before too many customers come, alright?!"
Chihiro nodded and complied, letting Aogaeru guide her down the side of the little island the bath house was on. He jumped to some train track and then followed them away from the festival grounds, just as the sun set and the red lights lit up.
Eventually they came to a wooden platform and Aogaeru settled on it, "Now, we wait for the train to come."
Chihiro nodded again, "Uh, and how long do you think it'll be until it does?"
Aogaeru shrugged, "No idea, it doesn't have a set schedule, but it should be here soon."
Chihiro didn't press for answers and sat down on the platform beside the talking frog. They waited for what felt like an hour, and finally tain lights could be seen. Chihiro stood up and waited for it. From the outside it looked like an oridinary train, but on the inside, it was filled with shadow people, making her skin crawl.
Aogearu hopped onto an empty sit and motioned for her to sit down, which she complied to, avoiding any contact with the shadow people.
…
They traveled for a complete day, with people getting off and on. When they had arrived at their destination it was sun set again.
Aogearu hopped off his sit and called to Chihiro as he stopped on the wooden platform. Once the train left it had pitch black. The swamp stench irritated Chihiro's nose and she covered it a little to keep it from being too strong.
Aogearu started walking down a path surreounded by trees, and Chihiro had a tough time keeping her eyes on him. For while, the only thing that she was heard were the cicadas, crickets, and the sounds of her sand the frog walking along the gravel path.
Suddenly she heard a a loud noise that sounded like a machine and bouncing. She looked up to see that it was accompanied by a bobbing yellow light, peeking through the trees.
Eventually the light made it to Aogearu and Chihiro, and she gasped to see that it was a lamp post with a white hand on the bottom, and somehow, it was motioning for them to follow. Aogearu followed without hesitation, and Chihiro hissed at him to stop.
He rolled his eyes and continued bounding after the bouncing hand, and eventually Chihiro had to follow so she wouldn't be plunged into darkness. She saw more lights in the distance, lighting up a small cottage.
The lamp jumped up and curled around the top of a gate and the front door opened, a shadow immerging. At first Chihiro expected a large person to step out, but instead, the shadow was wearing a mask and motioning for them to come in.
"How is a shadow wearing a mask?!"
When the shadow noticed her it made a lot of gleeful sounds and approached her. She squeaked, and then all this strangeness had finally gotten to her. She was surrounded by the blackest black, and everything went silent.
