Chapter 6: Talking with Obi-Wan
Updating again. Enjoy.
Anakin sat down across from Obi-Wan. It was silent for a few moments. Obi-Wan sighed as he looked at Anakin. Anakin looked like he was going through a lot of pain, and he didn't know what to do. Obi-Wan felt Anakin's distress rolling off him in waves. He sat beside him and gave him a hug. Unlike what Obi-Wan was expecting, Anakin buried his face in Obi-Wan's chest and sobbed. Obi-Wan tightened his grip.
"We don't have to talk about it now, Anakin," said Obi-Wan, "We can wait until you're ready."
"No, it's alright. We need to talk about it," said Anakin, and he wiped his eyes with his sleeve. It reminded Obi-Wan of when he was little, and he had a nightmare. It was before Palpatine and Padme. Obi-Wan didn't have a problem with Padme. She was sweet, and honestly, he thought she was good for Anakin, and he knew having children would be too. "I married Padme on Naboo when I was still a Padawan. We were looking for her killer, and you got caught on Genosis. We went to Tatoonine. Because I kept getting nightmares of my mother dying. Well she did. She was killed by the Tusken Raiders. I killed all of them. The women, the children, the men. All of them. I hated them so much. I was so scared. I touched the Dark Side, and I even used it. I didn't want you to be disappointed in me, so I never told you. But I told Padme and Palpatine. I should have trusted you, and I didn't. I didn't even tell you about our marriage! I knew you would be happy for us, but I didn't tell you!" Anakin started crying again, and Obi-Wan pulled him back into his arms. "You're not mad at me?"
"Never, Anakin. The Dark Side is tricky. You'll feel good when you use it at first, but then, all you become is angry and hateful. There would be no love or passion left in your life. I know it might feel good, and it may even be the easier path. But it doesn't lead anywhere. The more difficult path of the light side is the best path. You'll be happy, and when you die, you will be in peace. The Dark Side won't help you with anything, I promise," said Obi-Wan.
"I'm having nightmares of Padme dying in childbirth, and I'm so scared that it's going to happen," said Anakin.
"Maybe they won't. She's in good health. Maybe they might come true if you fall to the Dark Side. When did they start?"
"About the time I killed the Tusken Raiders."
"So you touched the Dark Side. The Force is probably warning you not to continue on this path. I really don't want you to fall, Anakin. You are my brother, and I'd lose everything if I lost you."
"I'm not going to fall. For you, Padme, and my child. Especially for Luke."
The door burst open, and one of the apprentice healers ran inside. She said, "Sir, we have a problem with Luke. He's shielded his mind, so we can't do the healing properly. Do you think you could come and help us with him?" Obi-Wan and Anakin looked at each other, and they took off towards the Hall of Healing.
