A month had rolled around, and neither one of the boys had even looked at eachother. Kevin made his way down the hallway, a painted smile on his face as he recieved "hey's" and high fives from his fellow classmates. It was homecoming week and everyone was ready for the big game against the Indians from North Central. They had a killer defense, but Kevin's team was strong, and they currently had an undefeated season; he planned on keeping it that way. He continued down the hallway, soaking in all the praise and good luck he was receiving.
"Hey Kev!"
The jock turned to his left to find crystal blue eyes that belonged to a small blonde with a pixie cut.
"Hey Nazz, what's up?"
"Well, as you know, It's homecoming week." she continued while Kevin listened as they walked down the hall together. "Rolf is throwing a homecoming party after the dance, and of course, you have to be there! I just wanted to let you know, so you could plan yourself accordingly, and you know, bring your homecoming date to the party with you..."
Nazz was great. She was beautiful, kind, smart, but she was not coy in anyway. She had been dropping hints about him asking her to homecoming for weeks now, and he had shrugged them off, not really wanting to mislead her, but at this point, he didn't much of a choice. He was going to take her to the dance whether he wanted to or not.
"Alright Nazz, you win." chuckled Kevin. "Will you be my date to homecoming?"
"Oh Kevin! I would be flattered, but only if you ask me all cute and shit. You know, like flowers, maybe a cute note on my locker. Oh or even better, a giant banner in the commons."
Kevin stared at the obviously delusional friend before him. She finally chuckled, letting him know that she was indeed being sarcastic.
"Yeah yeah. I'll get you a corsage. How's that for 'cute and shit'?" Kevin laughed again at his own joke while Nazz scoffed in response.
"Alright, I'll let you off the hook, but only this time buddy. You better look sharp, and you better be at that party! Everyone will be there and will want to congradulate you on your win Mr. Quarterback".
"Don't worry, I wouldn't miss it".
"Okay cool! I'm getting a dress today, so I'll message you and let you know what color it is so we can match! Tata loser. Talk to you later!" Nazz blew a kiss towards the redhead and skipped down the hall to her next class. She was a weird one, but a keeper for sure. They had been friends for so long, and Kevin knew she liked him, and at one point he thought he liked her too, but he just wasn't for relationships, so it never worked. It was nice that they could maintain their friendship through it all though. At first she took the breakup pretty hard, but eventually she realized he just didn't want to hurt her. He loved Nazz, just not the way she loved him.
Not paying attention to where he was going, the jock managed to run right into someone.
"Ow! Watch where you're go-" Kevin looked up to see who he ran into, only to look at what he could have sworn was the ocean at first glance. "Oh, sorry Double D, I guess I wasn't paying attention to where I was going..." Kevin rubbed the back of his neck like he always did when he was uncomfortable. It was a sure sign and always gave him away, he should really stop.
"It's quite alright Kevin. Things happen".
"Hey Kev! Is the dork bothering you?" Both boys looked over Kevin's shoulder to see Liam smirking at the raven haired boy.
"Uh, no actually. I kind of bumped into him on accident. Everything is fine".
Liam snorted and shot Edd a dirty look. "Well maybe the brainiac should have been watching out as well, so don't beat yourself up pal" said Liam as he patted Kevin's shoulder. Edd rolled his eyes and scoffed at the comment.
"You got a problem loser?" Liam pushed his way past Kevin to be directly in front of Edd.
"No, of course not Liam." Double D closed his locker and turned to face the brunette. He stood just a little shorter than Edd, but was brawny and most likely would win in a fight with a bear, but Edd was more than willing to see if he would win a fight with a kid who no longer had anything to lose, and would do anything to no longer be put down. "But obviously you do. So why don't you enlighten me on your issues huh?" Liam stood still, in utter shock, Kevin behind him holding the same expression. "What did daddy not love you enough? Did mommy not spend enough time with you? Or is it the fact that you have to compensate for your seriously microscopic mound of flesh and muscle that you try to pass off as a penis?"
The whole hallway had stopped at this point to listen in on the action, and so far, Double D was making Liam look like an idiot. Some people ooohed and other stayed silent, waiting fists to be thrown, but Liam didn't make a move. Instead, he stood still with a maniacal grin spread across his face. Kevin didn't like that look one bit.
"Alright dork, you think you're a bad ass now, we will see". Liam slammed his hand against Edd's locker, only an inch away from his nose, then strolled down the hallway, leaving everyone open mouthed and confused.
It took every ounce of strength for Eddward to not flinch at the hand flying near his face, but he managed it, and it made him feel stronger than ever. He stuck up to Liam, finally. As a wave of assurance passed over him, he noticed the extremely worried look on Kevin's face, and he instantly fell cold. He couldn't stand to see his brow furrowed because of him, or his green eyes looking so sad.
"Don't worry about me Kevin, I can hold my own" Edd assured as he lightly brushed past him, his arm slightly touching the jocks, sending an electric shock through them both. Kevin gasped at the touch, but Edd continued to walk away not seeming to notice, but Edd did. He felt it to, and he wanted nothing more than to turn around and intertwine his fingers in his dark auburn hair, to feel his lips and his body beneath his own.
Eddward shook the impure thoughts from his mind and continued down the hall.
'Ring!'
The day was over, finally. Edd use to love school, it use to mean something to him. Learning was his passion, but people like Liam are always there to ruin anything good people have going for them.
"Sup Double D?" Eddie turned around to see Ed and Eddy walking up behind him.
Eddy hadn't grown up too much over the years. Not that he did scams and such things anymore, but he definitely liked to cause a ruckus. He hadn't grown all that much to be honest either. He was about 5'9, still had the same short hair, and wore the same baggy clothes he always had. His face had matured far more than the rest of him. He had a very defined jaw line, and bags were clearly visible under his golden brown eyes. In all honesty, he had nice features. Ed was a different story. He was about the same height as Edd, maybe slightly taller. Bulkier than the other two, but not too much. He, like Eddy, had very mature facial features.
"Hey fellas, care to walk home with me?" asked the nerd.
"Yeah sounds great D, but first, we're going to buy our homecoming tickets, and you are going with us". Eddy continued before Eddward could decline. "You are going, and Ed and I will be your dates. You should be so lucky have two handsome men as your dates to the homecoming dance."
Double D snickered at the comment. How could he turn them down. He looked up at Ed who was playing a game on his phone, completely oblivious to the situation. "Alright Eddy, let's go pick them up".
As they got tot he office to buy the tickets, Double D noticed the last person in line, was no other than Liam. Could the day get any better? The boys walked to the end of the line trying to avoid Liam and his friends, but of course, it didn't work.
"Well would you look who decided to show his face again? How's it going buddy, thought you would have left school considering I gave you a fair warning".
Eddward rolled his eyes once again at the over confident jock. "Look Liam, I am not afraid of you. You wanna go, well then let's do this and get it over with".
Double D began too shrug off his flannel and walk towards the door, but stopped in order to glance back and make sure Liam was following, but instead saw the whole line following him outside.
It's now or never, he thought to himself.
Once outside, the line had formed a circle around the two boys who were readying themselves.
"Alright, here's the rules" said Liam. "No friends. You and me, that's it. If one of your dumb ass friends tries to jump in and tag team, all my boys will jump in and finish it. I don't think I have to tell you that seven to three is not in your favor".
Edd nodded as he handed his flannel to Ed to hold onto. He was ready, actually he was more than ready. He didn't even care that he was most likely going to lose. He was sick of being his doormat.
Edd watched as Liam started calmly walking towards him, smirking. The next thing he knew, he was pinned on the ground and taking a blow to the side of the face, for what felt like the second time. Double D managed to roll and switch positions with Liam, punching him square in the jaw, throwing Liam completely off guard. He obviously didn't expect a nerd to have any fighting skills, but he learned things in foster care, and he was proud of himself.
The fighting continued on the ground for a minute until Liam decided to let Eddward stand back up. As he stood up he wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. He could the blood seeping through his shirt where his bloody mouth and nose had dripped. Liam wiped his mouth and was surprised to find blood. The kid was scrappy, he would give him that much.
"You ready to quit yet princess?" Hollered Liam.
"Oh honey, I'm just getting started". Eddward flashed a wicked bloody grin, which sent chills down Liam's spine, and distracting him just long enough for Edd to get a final blow in. The crowd gasped as they watched Liam sway. He didn't fall, but it had definitely made an impact. Edd went to turn and leave the circle when Liam grabbed him by the arm and cocked his fist. It was too fast, Double D wouldn't have time to block it, or even dodge it with the grip Liam had on him, so he clenched his jaw and waited, and waited...
He opened his eyes to see red hair in front of his face, an arm stretched out clenching Liam's fist.
"Hit him one more time, and you'll regret ever going to this school".
Edd couldn't believe his ears. Was Kevin really sticking up for him?
" I will not tolerate fighting the week of homecoming. We can't afford to lose a team member to suspension Liam, so watch yourself".
I guess not...
Liam ripped his fist from Kevin and beckoned his friends to follow him back into the school. Before he say anything, Double D was being dragged into the building while his two friends hollered at his kidnapper. He didn't even have to look to know it was Kevin, he could feel it through their skin to skin contact. It was quite annoying actually...
Kevin swung the boy into a nearby empty classroom, closed the door and locked it. He turned to look at the bloody mess in front of him. What was he ever gonna do with him? He can't be there constantly to break up fights, but he never wanted to see the dork this way again. He looked down at his hands which he was fiddling with. Eddward scoffed at Kevin, he could see he was concerned, but he had no idea how great he actually felt. Kevin looked back up to see those ocean blue eyes filled with fiery rage. He had never looked so alive, so sexy...
In a split second, Kevin closed the gap between him and the self proclaimed MMA champion, roughly pressing his mouth into Eddward's split open lips, and Eddward's hands flashed up to firmly hold the redhead against him. He didn't care if it was wrong, he wanted to feel those lips more than anything, and he was already being selfish, so why not indulge.
