Hey all! This is my first ever Fairy Tail / Harry Potter crossover! To be more precise, it's a crossover of Harry Potter and the AU Fairy Tail I created in 'The S-Class Mage'. I hope you enjoy it!

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or Fairy Tail.

Malfoy blinked.

He rubbed his eyes.

Then he blinked again.

"How are they still here?"

From across the Great Hall, Meledy gave him a cheerful wave before returning to her conversation with Harry and Ron.

"Whatever it is, it's either really valuable or really dangerous." Ron decided, thinking of the item hidden under the trapdoor in the three-headed dog's room.

Harry shrugged. "Or both."

But all they really knew was that the mysterious object was small enough to fit into a pocket, since Freed wasn't visibly carrying anything when Harry met him in Diagon Alley. Neither Neville or Hermione showed any interest in what was underneath the dog and the trapdoor. Wendy was curious but not too keen on going there again, while Meledy was all for it.

On a positive note, Hermione was refusing to speak to Harry, Ron, Wendy and Meledy, but all of them thought that it was better than Meledy eventually snapping and getting arrested for murder. Right now, all the group wanted was a way to get back at Malfoy, and to Harry's great joy, the exact thing arrived with the post about a week later.

As the owls flew in as usual, everyone's attention was on a group of six large owls carrying a long package. Harry was just as curious about it as everyone else, and his interest turned to confusion when the owls dropped the item right in front of him, followed by another owl which left a letter on top of the package.

Without hesitation, Harry tore the letter open.

"Dear Harry." He started, sighing at what he was reading. "I hope that you're not an idiot and that you'll open the letter first. The package contains your new broom, a Nimbus 2000. Do not open it at the table because everyone will either complain or want one. Signed, Lucy. PS: Meet Wood at 7:00 tonight for your first training session."

"A Nimbus 2000..." Ron looked envious. "I've never even touched one."

The group left the Hall quickly, wanting to unwrap the broomstick in private before classes started, but halfway across the Entrance Hall they found the way blocked by Malfoy and his cronies. The blond Slytherin snatched the package away from Harry and examined it.

"That's a broom." He sneered, throwing it back. "You're in for it now, Potter, first-years aren't allowed to have those."

Ron couldn't stop himself. "It's not just a broom, it's a Nimbus 2000! What did you say you have at home, a Comet 2-60? Those can't even compare."

"What would you know, Weasley?" Malfoy scoffed. "You could barely afford half of a handle. I suppose your family has to save up twig by twig."

Before Ron could argue back, Professor Flitwick stepped up next to Malfoy. "Not arguing, I hope, boys?"

"Potter's been sent a broomstick, Professor." Malfoy said quickly.

"Yes, so I've heard." Flitwick smiled at Harry. "Professor Heartfilia told me all about it, Potter. What model is it?"

Harry struggled not to grin. "A Nimbus 2000. And it's actually thanks to Malfoy here that I have it."

With that, the group left Malfoy standing there, face frozen in confused rage.

"It's true." Harry chuckled as they entered the common room. "If he hadn't stolen Neville's Remembrall I wouldn't be on the team."

"So I suppose you think that's a reward for breaking rules?" An angry voice spoke up behind them. Hermione was stomping over to them and scowling at the package in Harry's hands.

Wendy paled and glanced at Meledy, but the older girl was looking at the ceiling and counting backwards from ten. Repeatedly.

"I thought you weren't speaking to us?" Harry observed, relieved at the lack of flying furniture.

"Don't stop now." Ron added. "It's rather enjoyable."

Hermione gave a snort of disgust and marched away.

Since they lost the time Harry planned to use, the boy had to sit through all the day's lessons before he could finally unwrap the parcel. Eventually he just left the Great Hall halfway through dinner and rushed to the boys' dorm, followed by Ron, Wendy, and Meledy.

Ron gave an awed sigh as Harry unwrapped the package and let the Nimbus 2000 roll out on his bed. Even Harry, who knew nothing of brooms, thought it looked wonderful. Sleek and shiny with a mahogany handle, it had a tail of neat, straight twigs and its' name written in gold letters near the front end of the handle.

"Right, practice." Harry snapped out of gazing at the broom. "See you guys later."

Ron watched him leave, before something occurred to him and he turned to the two girls. "How are you even up here?"

Meledy simply grinned in reply.

Halloween started off well. First, the students woke up to delicious smells coming from the kitchens. Then Flitwick announced in Charms class that he considered the class ready to start levitating objects, something that they all wanted to do since he made Trevor, Neville's toad, soar around the classroom in circles. Flitwick started off by assigning the students into pairs. Harry was partnered with Wendy, Meledy ended up working with Neville, and Ron had the misfortune of working with Hermione, which neither of them was happy about. After all, the girl hadn't spoken to anyone in Harry's group since Harry got his broom.

"Don't forget that nice wrist movement we've practiced." Flitwick reminded them. "Swish and flick, remember, swish and flick. And be sure to say the words properly as well! Miss Marvell..." He turned to the Charms prodigy. "Let's see you try."

Wendy cleared her throat and moved her wand carefully. "Wingardium Leviosa."

Flitwick nodded happily as the feather she was to practice on rose up gracefully. "Excellent, Miss Marvell. Ten points to Gryffindor!"

Hermione grit her teeth.

Most of the students didn't find it as easy as Wendy. As her partner, Harry was left to do it on his own, Meledy had so far managed to make her feather spin, and Ron wasn't even that far ahead.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" He shouted, spinning his arms wildly.

"You're saying it wrong." Hermione snapped. "It's Win-gar-dium Levi-o-sa, you're meant to focus on the 'gar'."

Ron scoffed. "You do it then, wise one."

Hermione sighed and executed the proper wand motion. "Wingardium Leviosa!"

"Another success!" Flitwick cheered. "Miss Granger's done it too!"

Needless to say, that did not improve Ron's temper.

"It's no wonder no one can stand her." He told Harry as they left the class. "She's a nightmare, honestly. A little more and I'll take a leaf out of Meledy's book."

Harry stumbled when Hermione hurried past him and out of sight. The boy winced at the sight of tears he'd managed to glimpse on her face. "I think she heard you."

Wendy frowned.

"So?" Ron shrugged, looking a bit uncomfortable. "She must have noticed she's got no friends."

Still over by Neville and talking to him, Meledy had missed the entire exchange.

Hermione failed to show up to any other classes that day. On their way to dinner the group of four overheard Parvati Patil telling her friend Lavender that Hermione had apparently locked herself in a girl's bathroom and refused to leave. Ron looked even more awkward and Wendy was starting to look worried.

"Maybe she started PMS-ing." Meledy shrugged, also somewhat uncomfortable. As soon as they entered the Great Hall, however, all thoughts of Hermione left their minds.

Live bats were fluttering around near the ceiling or swooping over the tables, causing the hovering candles to flicker. Just like during the opening feast, the food appeared suddenly on golden plates all along each table.

Harry was just about to pile food on his plate when Quirrell rushed into the Great Hall, his turban askew and terror on his face. Everyone stared as he reached Dumbledore's chair, slumped against the table, and gasped.

"Troll – in the dungeons – thought you ought to know." He manged to force out, before pitching forward in a faint.

"Prefects!" Dumbledore bellowed, silencing the sudden panic. "Send your houses back to the dormitories immediately."

"You heard him!" Percy quickly snapped to attention. "Follow me! First-years, stick together! No need to fear the troll if you follow my orders! Stay close behind me. Make way, first-years coming through! Excuse me, I'm a Prefect!"

Harry frowned as they climbed a staircase. "How could a troll get in?"

"I don't know." Meledy looked confused. "Doesn't sound quite like Peeves' style..."

Harry's eyes widened in realization as he passed a group of panicked Hufflepuffs and he grabbed Ron's arm. "I just remembered – Hermione!"

"What about her?"

"She doesn't know about the troll."

"You must be joking." Meledy rolled her eyes, but ducked out of the crowd with the others. "Fine, let's go."

Harry led the group down a deserted side hallway, running towards the girls' toilets. He barely managed to round a corner before Meledy hastily pulled him back.

"Look out!"

Harry watched in confusion as Snape ran down a far-off hallway, oblivious to everything else.

"He's heading for the third floor." Harry realized.

Ron frowned. "Can you smell something?"

Harry sniffed and almost gagged at the horrid stench which suddenly reached him. The smell was quickly followed by a low grunting and the footsteps of gigantic feet. Ron pointed to at a hallway to the left, where something huge was slowly moving towards them. Harry winced when the troll neared a window and moonlight illuminated it.

The creature was twelve feet tall, had dark gray skin, a lumpy body, and a small head. It was holding a long wooden club, which dragged along the floor because its' arms were so long.

The troll stopped near a doorway, peered inside, and seemed to think for a moment before going in. Noticing the key in the lock, Harry crept forward, then leaped towards the door, grabbed the key, and-

And slammed the door against Meledy's foot.

"That's the girls' bathroom, dumbass." She told him angrily. "Are you completely brain-dead?"

Harry winced. "Sorry."

A shrill shriek from inside drew their attention. Wendy paled and quickly swung the door open, letting the four of them rush in.

"Confuse it!" Harry shouted at Ron, before throwing a broken tap at the troll. The creature stopped meters away from Hermione, blinked, then turned towards Harry and made for him instead.

"Oi, pea-brain!" Ron yelled, making the troll focus on him as a pipe hit the beast's shoulder.

"Come on, run!" Harry yelled at Hermione, who seemed frozen in terror.

Meledy focused and a pink bracelet of light appeared on her wrist, before a duplicate formed around the troll's arm.

"Wendy." She commanded calmly. "Knock me out."

Wendy glanced at Meledy's wrist and understood. Picking up a discarded pipe, she slammed it into the older girl's head as hard as she could without killing her.

The troll gave a loud, confused grunt, before crashing limply against a wall and falling still, the club dropping from a slack hand.

"Um..." Lucy ran in, followed by Snape and Quirrell. "What..."

Quirrell took one look at the troll and sat down heavily on an overturned sink, whimpering. Snape, meanwhile, knelt over Meledy and examined her, wincing at the large lump on her head and the trickle of blood running down the side of her face.

"What exactly happened here?" Lucy asked, checking the troll to see if it really was unconscious. "Why aren't you in your dorm? Why is Meledy so injured? Did the troll get her? How are you guys not dead?"

Wendy winced at that last one. Snape gave the group a long, piercing look and Harry looked down at the floor, inwardly panicking.

"Please, Professor Heartfilia..." A small voice came form the corner. "They were looking for me."

Lucy glanced at Hermione. "In that case, why were you here?"

"I went looking for the troll..." Hermione got to her feet shakily. "I thought I could deal with it on my own... you know, since I've read all about them..."

Lucy stared at her for a moment. "You mean you were in here crying after your feelings got hurt and those four rushed in to save you because they felt guilty about it?"

"How did you-"

"I am not stupid." Lucy looked amused. "If some first-years can overhear that you're in here, then so can I, as the person in charge of all of you here."

She sighed. "I'll have to take Meledy to the Hospital Wing... I have a pretty good idea of what actually happened. If you guys aren't hurt, go back to the Gryffindor common room. The feast is being finished there."

"Also, each of you five loses ten points for the biggest show of dumbassness I've witnessed since I was twelve." Lucy added as an afterthought. "However, ten points each go to Meledy and Wendy, since they did, in fact, take out a fully grown troll with almost no effort."

"I'll have to tell Dumbledore about this." She muttered, lifting Meledy as the others left.

"For a moment I thought we were going to lose more points." Ron observed, relieved to be alive. "Thirty is not much... Fred and George lose that much in a week."

"It would have been fifty, but Lucy does show some favoritism." Harry mused. "She gave Wendy's and Meledy's lost points back in the next sentence."

"True..." Ron grinned. "So if we do more crazy stuff, we can blame it on them! They won't lose points, and might actually gain some!"

"It was also nice of Hermione to try and help us out like that." Wendy added. "Lucy-nee saw right through it, but the thought counts too."

Ron nodded and smiled at Hermione. "Yeah, thanks."

Harry and Wendy nodded in agreement.

"I should thank you." Hermione observed. "You guys all came after me to save me. Especially Meledy... I don't know what she did, but the troll got knocked out because of it."

And from that moment on, Hermione Granger became their friend. Since apparently taking on an adult mountain troll is one of those things that makes the people involved best friends.

"I still don't like her." Meledy muttered petulantly, lying in a bed in the Hospital Wing with bandages around her head.

AN: To clarify, the Tenrou group's arrival to Hogwarts meant creating two new subjects: Alternate Magic, which is mandatory for all years, and Runic Wards, which is a third-year-and-above elective class.

Chapter 8 will be out shortly. Look forward to it!
