THIS CHAPTER IS AN AUTHOR NOTE AND STORY SUMMARY

If you're reading straight through, please ignore.

A/N: I am so sorry for how long I've let this story sit. I had every intention of having it finished before 4A started, but when that didn't happen I lost my mojo on it. Well now, the plan is to have it finished before 4B starts. There's only one chapter to go and I *will* meet that deadline. My goal is to post the last chapter next week.

Also as long as I'm doing an author note, I'd like to thank anyone who has left me reviews or favorited this story or any of my other recent stories. I really appreciate you taking the time to read and review. It means a lot!

Anyway, it's been so long; if you read it months ago and want a refresher on the plot here it is! Below please find chapter summaries from the story. However, if you haven't read it, why not start from the beginning?

Chapter 1

We pick up where Emma and Killian left off at the end of 3x22, macking on each other outside of Granny's. Mushy, smushiness abounds and it's revealed that Granny, Ruby, Aurora and Blue witness their canoodling and then help Mary Margaret with her shock over Emma's new relationship. Later Emma tries to talk to Regina about Marian coming back, but Regina's not having it and threatens Emma's happiness. This upsets Emma and her guilt causes her to cancel her planned midnight rendezvous with Hook. However, she does ask him if he wants to patrol with her the next afternoon. She discovers she's lost her phone, they determine she must have dropped it outside the barn before they fell in the portal.

Chapter 2

Emma and Henry wake up in their room at Granny's to find that it has unexpectedly started to snow. They get ready to head over to the loft to make breakfast for David and MM, Henry tries to invite Hook, but he's not in his room. Emma talks with Henry about her budding relationship with Killian, he's fine with it and promises not to bring it up to his grandparents until Emma is ready to tell them. While making breakfast, David tells Emma that he's worried about MM, she was acting strangely the night before. During breakfast Emma regales them with stories of her trip through the enchanted past with Killian and reveals to Henry that Regina is in a bad place because of Robin. The unexpected storm continues to get worse. Emma tells her mother of David's concern and MM admits that the secret she's keeping from him is the fact that she saw Emma and Hook the night before. Mother and daughter have a frank conversation about Emma's love life. Emma and Henry stay the morning and allow her parents to nap, but by the time lunch rolls around, Emma is anxious to get to the diner and meet Killian. She calls over to the inn to make sure they're still on for patrolling, but becomes concerned when he doesn't answer and no one has seen him all morning.

Chapter 3

Emma rushes to Granny's and her anxiety builds when she finds no sign of Killian. Ruby lets her into his room, but it provides very few clues. Emma rushes back to the loft, on the way checking any place he might be, but to no avail. The search is made harder by the fact that Emma has lost her phone. Emma tells her parents that he's missing and when they suggest that he might have gotten tired of Storybrook and sailed away, she reveals how he traded his ship for her. They all begin working his disappearance as if it's a case. It's determined Emma will go confront Regina since she made threats the night before, David will check on the Merry Men and Mary Margaret and Henry will start making phone calls. Emma drives to Regina's house and after an angry confrontation, Emma believes Regina that she had nothing to do with his disappearance. Regina suggest that the raging snow storm is magical in nature, having something to do with Emma and Hooks' trip to the past. Emma suggests that if Regina wants Robin back she should "fight fair" and start by offering shelter to his family.

Chapter 4

Emma sets off to find clues. She heads to the Sheriff's station, grabs some supplies and switches to the department Suburban which is better in the snow. Regina decides to take Emma's advice and offers shelter (via David) to Robin. When he accepts, struck by how awkward it will be, Regina asks MM, along with Henry and the baby, to come sit out the storm at her house. Emma checks the town line and is unsurprised to find that it is not snowing outside of Storybrooke, this confirms the storm is definitely magical. Next Emma heads to the Pawnshop to question Gold. He's not there, but Belle informs her that they were married the night before and provides Rumple for an alibi for both the storm and Hook's disappearance. He's out "checking his properties" so Emma is unable to question him. Regina's house becomes the base of operations as all the Merry Men, including Robin, Roland and Marian, descend upon her. Emma heads to the barn, as she suspects that whatever is causing the storm was brought back via the portal. She finds the barn has been frozen over and a closer inspection revels Killian is trapped inside.

Chapter 5

Emma panics when she sees Killian lying on the icy floor of the barn, a wall of ice separates them. Her emotions take over and she uses magic to melt a hole and get to him. He's unconscious, but she assumes the same magic that turned the barn into an ice prison, has cursed him. She tries not one, not two, but three true love kisses trying to wake him. However, it turns out he wasn't cursed, he was just blacked out from a bump on the head and the cold. When he comes too, she quickly gets him out of there and into the Suburban. However, as he becomes more conscious it's clear he's suffering from hypothermia. Emma decides to drive him to the hospital, however the blizzard has destroyed a bridge and they're stuck on the wrong side. Even though Killian's out of it, his impeccable sense of direction leads them to Zelena's farmhouse despite the blizzard. Killian manages to tell Emma that an angry, blonde woman, dressed in blue, is the one who created the storm. He also tells her that it wasn't snowing when he'd headed to the barn that morning to try and find her phone. When they reach the farmhouse, Killian's condition has worsened. He's shaking and barely conscious. Emma checks the house, finds there's no heat, but stars a fire, lights candles and gets Killian into the house. After several awkward conversations, David, Regina and Robin head out looking for clues, they decide to head to the center of town and draw the source of the storm to them. Emma, worried about Killian's core body temperature, finds the warmest linens she can, drags the couch right in front of the fire and then strips him of his frozen clothes, trying to get him warm. When it becomes clear that's not enough to bring up his core body temperature, she decides she needs to be his heat source.

Chapter 6

Despite her nerves, Emma determines body-to-body warming is a passed-out Killian's best shot at survival so she strips down and joins him under all the covers on the couch. Trying to share body heat, she warms as much of him as she can. It's impossibly intimate, but eventually she's lulled to sleep, the two of them wrapped together, on the couch, without clothes. ;) Back in the center of town, Regina clears an area in the middle of the street to work and then asks David to fetch Belle to help them. Killian wakes to find himself in a very unexpected and pleasant situation. When he wakes Emma, she's very relieved that it appears he's cognizant and has stopped shaking, she explains their compromising situation, but neither of them are all that anxious to untangle from it or each other. However, when he sees more than he should she tells him to close his eyes, even if they've been lying together naked, that doesn't mean they can't jump ahead in their relationship. They need to "talk" before they can go any further. Thankfully, in the pile of supplies Emma grabbed at the station, she finds her father's overnight bag, water and poptarts. Emma gets up to search for more food for a hungry and dehydrated Killian and to call her father. Regina decides they need to summon Rumple and the Ice Queen to them, so while she can't stop the storm, she does turn it purple and creates a light display that will get the entire town's attention.
