It's been years since I was on this site (took an idle Thursday evening for me to remember I exsisted on this site!), surprised my account is still active really. I never uploaded the final chapters of this story, so, I found them on an old external drive and will now upload them so the story is complete. No idea of the quality of them, this story was wrtten years ago, dread to think how long ago really. Anyway, just in case you were hanging on for the final piece here you go, it won't be worth the wait but anyhooo...

"It's Tails!" Knuckles shouted in relief.

The others glanced to where Knuckles was pointing and eyed the plane as it sped in from the west stopping about nine feet away from the group on the ground, hovering next to Eggmans aeronautical creation. Silence fell on the scene except for the faint roar of turbines and the occasional ground vehicle starting up, fleeing from the scene. Those that remained in the port other than the group were a few hardy, seasoned photographers ready to get that winning shot no matter how dangerous the situation got.

Sonic coughed a couple of times, spitting out some lodged water and squeaked, "He came, Tails made it, I guess you were right Amy."

"You bet I am Sonic, anyway, I'm glad you're awake again, you feeling okay?" She asked concerned.

"Never better," Sonic said as he confidently rose to his feet, "this is it Eggman, you're going down again!"

"But, what, how did? Tails is in the middle of nowhere, how did he know?" Eggman shouted confused, "never mind, you still won't be able to defeat me!"

Four LASER's then shone from the front of the Tornado, coming together at a point on top of the ship, around the edge of the area protruding from the base. A couple of seconds later two large missiles then emerged from within the Tornado, they landed on the point with a huge, earth trembling explosion, causing the seam around the edge of the metal to separate, revealing part of the controls and mechanics inside.

"Looks like Tails up rated the ammo on that thing," Knuckles pointed out.

"How could this happen? Nothing should be able to penetrate that!" Eggman shouted angrily, "all right, you asked for this!"

Eggmans ship manoeuvred itself so it was face to face with the Tornado, but before anything could happen another couple of missiles flew from the Tornado and hit the edge of Creosote, turning the great ship around clockwise. Amy and Cream cheered from below, embracing each other happy about their friend's quick thinking.

"Look out!" Sonic shouted.

A missile flew right into the middle of the group on the ground, scattering them in different directions. Everyone quickly turned to look at each other before another hit right where they were originally standing. They looked at each other confused, from the second missile it came clear that it was not Eggman firing at them, but the Tornado.

"Another beautiful and warm day," Tails mused to himself as he packed up his meagre belongings into his bag.

This was now his second full day out in the open and he was not going to waste a second of it. As his confidence had increased slightly Tails decided it was time to move further, into an area of land he did not really know that well, a place he could explore and hopefully learn new things. He let out a quiet sigh as he headed towards the stream, wondering if the fish trap he had made out of twigs and vine had worked.

"Hmmm, there's a couple in there, better than nothing I suppose."

He carefully waded into the river, trying not to splash himself too much and most importantly, trying not to fall over. He reached into grab his small basket like trap when a huge explosion made him jump and loose his footing. Splash! Tails was soaked. He quickly stood up and shook himself to get rid of most of the water then quickly decided, though it was really more of a reaction, to run to the top of the hill to see what made the noise. His view was greeted by dark, bellowing smoke in the distance, slowly covering the sky.

"It looks like it's coming from Station Square, the port I suppose, must have been an explosion on a ship by the looks of it." He muttered to himself.

He stood watching the smoke for about five minutes debating in his mind whether to go back and see if he could help or not. He then decided there was probably nothing he would be able to do anyway; after all it was only a large fire. A thought about his friends suddenly surfaced in his mind, he wondered what they were all doing now, whether they were having fun or working on something or just lazing about, wasting the day. Tails decided to think about trying to get his breakfast again.

After his small meal Tails sat there thinking about everybody again and if they did miss him or whether they had more or less forgotten about him, pushed him aside as he was no longer a team player maybe. He was always slightly insecure about his friendships at times, but he could always go back to Sonic, he would never forget him and Tails would never forget Sonic either. They had been through too much together come to think of it to let something like this ruin their friendship, what was he worrying about?

The sound of a jet engine then suddenly caught his attention. Within a couple of seconds it had grown extremely loud. A plane flew right in front of his field of view. Tails quickly got up and tracked the plane through the sky, watching it as it slowly headed into the distance.

"That was the…" He said distantly, as if trying to think of it's name, "Tornado. That was, it was the…my Tornado." Tails finished off surprised.

Something very strange was going on. Tails tried to recall if he had ever taught anyone how to fly the thing but could not come up with such a memory. He then wondered if someone had copied the design by using pictures from newspapers or magazines, Tails then smacked himself square on the head.

"Why didn't I patent my designs? I could be rich now!"
