AN: anyone want to read my Original Fiction?
… … …
I wasn't surprised in the least when I didn't hear from anyone that day. Especially Stiles. If Scott had told him about me, then I really couldn't blame him for not calling me and probably cancelling our date. Who would want to go out with a cancer girl?
When my brother came home after work, I feigned sleep and he had left me alone, knowing I sometimes needed the extra sleep. When I finally fell asleep, it was restless, filled with bad dreams and the next morning I woke up more tired than usual which led to me being extra cranky. Luckily Trent had gone to work by the time I dragged myself out of bed, got ready for school and left the apartment. I briefly wondered why I was even going to school but to me, it was the whole normalcy of it. No matter how long I would have it for.
When I left the building, I was super surprised to see Stiles there, leaning against his jeep again as he waited for me.
"What are you doing here?" I grumpily asked.
"Giving you a ride to school?" He replied.
"Didn't you talk to Scott?"
Stiles nodded as he opened the door for me, gesturing for me to get in. I did, all the while shooting him suspicious glances, even as he walked around to the other side of the car to get in.
"I like your hair." He quietly told me as he pulled his jeep out onto the road.
One hand came up to play with the dark hair on top of my head. It wasn't very long, maybe an inch all around and dark brown but the most important part was, it was my hair. I wore wigs because I always felt like a guy with barely any hair but now, with Stiles giving it an appreciative look, I actually felt okay with it all.
"It's not a wig." I whispered, looking down at my clasped hands.
"I figured." He replied "But I like it."
I glanced at him out of the corner of my eyes with a small frown. "Why are you being so nice to me?" I asked. "I'm the girl with cancer. I came here, deceiving you all in hopes of finding a cure."
Stiles only shrugged. "Not telling us what you wanted right off the bat isn't really deceiving. I doubt it would have been smart to march into town and demand a cure. You were playing it smart."
We fell quiet as he drove us to school and it was only when he parked his car that I grabbed his arm, halting him from getting out. "But I still have cancer."
"And I still have a werewolf best friend. My other best friend is a Seer. Allison's a hunter, Lydia's a banshee-"
"Wait, what?" I interrupted him, curious as to his last confession.
"Nobody told you about that?"
I shook my head. "No? A banshee? What the hell is a banshee?"
"The wailing woman?" Off my confused look, he waved me off. "It doesn't matter. What I'm trying to say, is we all have our problems."
"I'm going to die." I whispered to him.
"I'm trying very hard to not let that happen." He looked past me and I turned around to see Cat standing there, seemingly waiting for me.
"You know the alpha?" I whispered, even more quietly.
Stiles nodded and I bit my lip thoughtfully. "But you're just a human."
"I'm one of the three chosen to protect this town. It's confusing, perhaps I'll tell you on our second date."
I looked at him in surprise. "You still want to take me out?"
"Why wouldn't I?" He asked.
I grinned at him, moving to get out of the car before I stopped and looked back at him. "And you're already planning for our second date? Aren't we getting ahead of ourselves."
I jumped out of the car and walked towards Cat who was smiling softly at me.
"I'm glad you're feeling a bitter better and I'm glad you went au naturel." She said, referring to my hair.
I shrugged. "I guess. But I need to ask you something Cat, do you know how this is going to end already?"
"I want to say yes and sometimes, I do get flickers of what could happen but the alpha knows that and not only is he good at blocking me, he knows how to change what I see."
"But can't you see my future?" I asked in a small voice.
She sighed and tiredly rubbed at her forehead. "No I can't. not until he decides, but even then it will be tricky. Here's the thing, the bite doesn't always take Lennox and if it decides not to take, well from what I learned from my Grams, it's something that happens so fast, in a split second, we're left without warning. I don't know why, I don't know a way around it and if that were to happen, I won't know until it's too late."
"So I could die either way?"
She nodded. "And I think that's why the Alpha is hesitant. That and he's never bitten anyone."
"Doesn't he need to build a pack."
Another sigh as her hand nervously tugged at her hair. "He- he has one. It's complicated, it's confusing and the moment I can, I will tell you everything."
"Has he said anything else?" I held my breath, hoping, waiting for some different news.
"I wouldn't know." She replied, walking into the school. "I'm not talking to him at the moment."
… … …
I glanced around, making sure no one I knew was nearby before walking across the hallway and waiting for the two to finish at their lockers. As one, they shut their lockers, turning around to face me, the same questioning look on their identical faces.
"Hey, Lennox." The one on the left, Ethan cautiously greeted me. I could already tell them apart, my brain already picking out the slight differences between the identical Alpha's.
"You can do it." I whispered, my eyes looking at the locker between the two of them, not wanting to look at their faces in case they rejected me as well.
"Do what?" Ethan asked.
"You know what. You're Alpha's, you could give me the bite. You could save me."
"We can't." Aiden answered.
"You can." I cried, looking at him, the anguish plain on my face. "Please, you don't understand-"
"We do." Aiden interrupted me with a scowl. "We know what's wrong, we know what you want from us but we can't."
Tears filled my eyes as I looked down at the floor. "Why?"
"Because we were told not to." Ethan explained, his tone much more gentle than his brother's.
"By the Alpha?" I bitterly asked. "You're Alpha's too, you could do what you want."
Ethan placed a hand on my shoulder and I looked at his arm, watching the black veins rise up his arm as he took some of my pain away. I abruptly pulled away, not wanting this consolation prize.
"This isn't our territory." He softly told me. "We're without a pack so to speak and the Alpha is within his right to kill us if he chose to. He asked us to stay out of it while he decided."
"Fuck the Alpha, fuck everyone." I replied through gritted teeth. "How could any of you let a teenage girl die just because he doesn't want the bite on his conscience?" I asked.
"Lennox."
I glanced to the side to see Stiles walking towards me, his back pack slung over one shoulder. I hastily wiped my tears away as he reached me.
"You better not be bugging her." He said with a glare towards the twins.
"She came up to us." Aiden sneered "And we did exactly what he told us to. So get out of our faces, now."
The twins walked away, Ethan giving me a sympathetic pat before leaving.
"Those are two guys you don't want biting you."
"I don't care who does it, as long as someone does."
He stared at me for a few moments before he began to fidget in the way I noticed he usually did when he was standing still for too long or he wanted to say something but wasn't quite sure what to say.
"Did you want to get out of here?" Stiles blurted out.
I glanced around to see the hallway almost deserted, everyone having rushed off to their next class. Being in a classroom wasn't something I could really deal with at the moment so I nodded, following him out of the school and letting him old the door of the jeep open before he got in and left the parking lot. I stared out the window, feeling miserable.
"Why would you go to Aiden and Ethan?" He finally asked me.
I sent him a sideways glance before answering. "What if the Alpha says no?"
"You want to be a part of the twins pack? That's crazy Lennox."
"It's not. How many times do I have to remind everyone, I don't want to die."
"Then give the alpha a little more time, please." He reached over and grabbed my hand and I glanced down at it before looking back at him. His eyes were on the road but I could see a slight blush staining his cheeks.
"Let's go do something fun." He said abruptly changing the subject.
"Like what?" I asked.
"well, we could go bowling again or we could go ice skating."
"I've never been ice skating." I shyly replied.
"Then you're in for a treat because I'm a champion Ice skater." He removed his hand from mine so he could shift and I immediately missed the warm feeling holding his hand brought to me.
"Are you really?" I asked.
"No. Not at all. But I don't fall flat on my face, unlike Scott. For a supposed all powerful werewolf, he's not very good with the ice skating."
I giggled, my bad mood almost gone as Stiles cracked jokes all the way to the ice rink.
