Sorry it took so long guys I've been having to write and upload from my phone and I lost a chapter when my laptop crashed I may try and rewrite it later to post but this is the chapter after it and luckily it doesn't mess up the flow.
Marina sighed as she glanced around the room. People were dressed in their best and conversing around her as they indulged themselves in the champagne being passed around. She clutches her glass tighter as she spotted salad looking over ay her from across the room.
She turned her attention back to the room. Her parents had definately not spared any expense at finding a place that looked like a ballroom from a fairytale.
The marble floors were a cream color with swirls of gold throughout it. Columns that were fat around and went to the ceiling. A huge sparkling chandelier hung above them and the walls were adorned with windows and lanterns with flames flickering behind the glass. It reminded her of the ballroom from beauty and the beast which she guessed is what Allie had intended.
She observed the people around her and smiled as her father approached her. "I had hoped for you to have a prince rescue you from being alone but I guess ill have to do." He teased.
She smiled and hugged him. "You'll always be my knight in shining armor." She teased letting go and looking back around the room.
"You know if I could take that pain of yours away I would, I know it cant be easy for you."
"Not so long ago we were in a vineyard celebrating your soon to be wedding." "Such simpler days." He sighed making her swallow hard to choke back the anxiety creeping up on her.
"Yeah, never thought I'd be watching Allie tie the knot first." She confessed as her heart grew a little heavier ad the memories from her wedding day ran through her head.
"Cheer up sweetheart your still young." Her father teased as Shay approached them. Marina sighed and rolled her eyes in protest as Shay walked up and grabbed her hand to pull her towards the dance floor.
"Come on this is my jam." Shay explained. Marina looked back at her dad for help but to no avail. He smiled sympathetically and waved to her.
Shay sighed in relief as she reached the middle of the dance floor. "Sorry hun but that asshole was trying to make his way over to you." She informed making her heart fall to her stomach. She slowly started to move with the music and snuck a look back over where she had been with her father.
She had to stifle a gasp of shock as she spotted Silas over by her father having a conversation. She looked back at shay and she smiled sympathetically. "Look we just have to get through this week and we never have to see his face again."
She nodded mutely in agreeance. She looked around and spotted Kelly talking up a green eyed brunette in a aqua color dress. She felt Shay rubbing against her with the rhythm of the song and rolled her eyes as a smile graced her lips. She began moving with her and spotted Allie and Alec talking to his parents.
Her mom was at the bar probably ordering another drink. The song ended and she hugged shay as they laughed at their goofiness. She started to walk away as a slow song started and she stopped as someone grabbed her hand. She turned and froze as her eyes met familiar brown ones.
"Silas." She breathed in surprise. He smiled warmly at her.
"Dance with me for old times sake." He pleaded confidently. She swallowed hard.
"Hey jerkface paws off my girl." Shay interrupted putting her arm around her.
"I just want one dance." He explained never taking her eyes off her.
She felt Shay tense up and knew she was considering hitting him in the face.
"Its okay Shay, I'll be fine." She assured looking over at her.
She was terrified but she couldn't afford to make a scene and the look in Silas's eyes said that he was not going to back down.
Shay looked at her unsure but she gave her a reassuring smile. Shay sighed.
"One dance, She agreed, then your mine." She informed before glaring at Silas and walking away.
"She's as intense as ever." He observed moving closer to her. She felt her heart start hammering as he pulled her closer to him as smooth as ever.
"Shay is shay." She replied trying not to let her voice shake as they started to move. They were silent for a moment before he spoke again.
"You look stunning, then again you always were a breath of fresh air in any room." He complemented making her swallow the lump in her throat.
"Thanks." She replied softly not meeting his gaze.
He chuckled. "Do you remeber doing all of this?"
"The madness and chaos of it all." He said laughter lacing his tone. She smiled a little and nodded trying to keep her composure.
"Yeah, it was fun while it lasted though." She replied softly.
"Yeah, it was." He agreed as the conversation faded.
She prayed for the song to hurry up and end before he broke down her walls that were threatening to crumble.
"You know if there is one thing I regret its this." He confessed softly. She felt her plus starting to race as he continued.
"I shouldn't have let you go."
She shook her head. "You've moved on you have Beth." She tried to rationalize, to snap him out of this conversation.
He shook his head. "Its not real, its not like it was with us." He replied.
She took a step back and looked up at him. "What are you saying Silas?" She asked the inside of her mortified of what he might say.
He met her gaze and took a deep breath. "I want you back marina." He said sincerely making her pulse hesitate. She shook her head in disbelief. "Seeing you again made me realize my mistake and... "she didnt hear what else he said as she started racing towards the stair case to escape.
Her fears were swelling inside of her the tears threatening to spill from her eyes. She gasped in surprise as Shay intercepted Her at their table as she grabbed her things quickly.
"Hey, hey what happened what's wrong?" She asked.
"Nothing, I shouldn't have come back here." "I should have stayed in Chicago,I cant do this." She explained frantically pulling on her jacket.
"Whoa hey what did he say?" She asked more seriously.
"It doesn't matter."
"I cant go through with this." She explained and started past her the tears falling as she reached the stairs and rushed up them.
"Stupid, im so stupid." She cursed inwardly.
"I need a taxi." She said urgently to the valet who looked a little scared of her. she couldn image what she must look and sound like but she didnt care.
She had to get away from here. She felt her pocket vibrate and reached in it to pull out her phone.
She laughed out of irony as she saw the name Clarke on her screen as she unlocked her phone. She opened the message and felt fresh tears fall.
"How are things going?" "Is it crazy that I havent stopped thinking about you since you got on that plane?" He asked making her shake her head. She started typing her reply as the taxi pulled up and sent it.
"I'm coming home."
She sighed in frustration as she shoved her clothes back into her suitcase. Normally she would take the time to fold them and put them in to save space but right now all she wanted to do is put space between her and this house. She heard her phone vibrate for the third time and sighed as she wakked over to it. She opened it up and read his reply to her reply earlier.
"whoa hey what's wrong?"
"Are you okay?"
"Say something or ill assume you went with number three."
she laughed at the last one remembering his note and hesitated as she hit the call button. It rang twice as she shoved more of her stuff into the suitcase.
"so which one was it?" Came his response as he answered. She chuckled.
"None of the above." "I cant do this im so stupid to think I could." She explained bitterly.
"whoa hey slow down there." " What happened?" He asked concerned.
She let out a shaky breath and swallowed the lump in her throat. "Silas, he told me he wants me back." She explained as calmly as she could manage.
He was quiet for a second before answering. "What did you say?" He asked gently.
She put her hand over her eyes to keep herself from crying as she responded. "I didnt say anything I ran out of there as fast as I could." She explained her voice full of pain and she knew it.
"You should have punched him." Came his response making her laugh.
"Yeah well you should have been here to talk me Into that before." She replied closing her suitcase and pulling it off of the bed as she started out of her room.
"So then go back and do it." He encouraged making her scoff.
"Yeah right i made a fool of myself and can only imagine what people are saying." She explained. "No im coming home." She said more decisively.
"Can you give me a lift back from the airport?" She asked walking towards the door.
"That might be hard." He replied with a laugh.
"Why's that?" she asked confused as she opened the door and stepped out. She gasped in Surprise as she hung up the phone.
There standing in front of her was Jeff Clarke.
"You still set on leaving?" He asked genuinely with a smirk.
"How did you, when did you, what are you doing here?" She asked dismayed. He shrugged and shook his head.
"To be honest I dont know myself." "I just had this feeling that you might need help getting through this." He explained defeated.
She was quiet for a second too shocked to respond. "I can leave if you want."
"Ill take you to the airport, fly back and we can part ways if thays what you want." He offered sincerely. She shook her head in disbelief.
"I dont know what to do." She admitted.
"Then let me offer a proposal." He started as he walked closer to her. "We both stay, show your ex you've moved on."
"I'll be your support the whole way and after all of this is over, if you decide you never want to see me again then i'll part ways with you and you never have to see me again." He explained making her swallow hard.
"I'm not someone you want to get involved with." She explained lowly.
"Whoa hey don't do that."He fussed.
"Your too strong to talk like that." He explained.
"You don't know me." She laughed bitterly.
"I know enough." he replied making her sigh.
"If i do agree to this you have to swear that if it gets to the point of number three that we leave the country as soon as possible." She replied making him laugh.
"Deal." He replied. She nodded and looked him over. "Now lets get you cleaned up and ready to show off." She teased making him roll his eyes as he grabbed her suitcase and his and started into the house after her.
Well finally he made it. Hope it was worth the wait next chapter is better I think ^_^
