IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
"By the time you read this, I'll be gone.
I can't tell you how sorry I am for what happened, you should know I wasn't planning to do it or anything
I was weak and you were there saying the nicest things and I got lost in the moment.
I knew what I was dealing with and that the time and place are not right to start anything like that.
and what most important than all of this, your heart…it's already occupied with so much,
but yet I did it, I forced myself on you! I'm so stupid especially when I'm out of control
please don't feel like you owe me anything cuz you don't
nothing changed I'm keeping my promises, I'm still at your side.
whenever you need me I'm one phone call away.
Good luck with your next mission and please be careful...
-Amara"
Melody's dark eyes were moving fast over Amara's letter that she predicted it was meant for Kurapica. She felt her heart aching over that poor girl, she was trying to hide it and to sound mature but clearly she got her heart broken. Whatever Kurapica did to her he messed up!. Melody was busy with the Nostrade Business that she spent an entire day outside the flat and came in the morning to find Amara's bed empty and all of her stuff are gone with only this letter. Melody decided to know what happened so she headed to Kurapica's room. It was 6 in the morning but she found him awake, she can only see his back…he's sitting on the floor and facing the window. He was practicing ten according to Amara's orders when she was here. His aura was normal and not showing anything at all. Melody talked:
"good morning"
Kurapica replied after a while: "good morning, Melody"
Melody said: "yes, Melody! did you hope it was someone else?"
Kurapica ignored her last words: "how's work with the boss, any developments?"
Melody started listening to his heart beats, they were normal in a strange rhythm which means he hides something, Melody said:
"everything is fine with the work but the boss is still dying to have Amara back"
As she expected his heart skipped a beat while mentioning Amara's name, Kurapica said calmly:
"he can have her now we're done"
Melody said in a serious attitude: "except that…she left already!"
Kurapica's aura faded, he questioned: "left?"
Melody handed him her letter, he took it and started reading. he remained silent for a long time so Melody started: "what did you do Kurapica to scare such a brave girl"
Kurapica commented : "she doesn't seem scared"
Melody screamed: "you really don't see what's between the lines, you're not that stupid Kurapica I know that"
Kurapica sighed, he whispered: "what do you want Melody?"
Melody confessed :"for you to face the truth, you care for her Kurapica! it's written all over your face why won't you admit it? instead you hurt her, a girl's heartbreak is harder than any pain in his world Kurapica, ask someone who knows"
Kurapica felt mad, at himself at Melody at everyone, He screamed: "what do you want me to do?!"
He continued: "do you think it's easy for me to go through all of this, do you think I don't want this to happen too? she kissed me and every cell in my body wanted me to return it but I fought it, I won't let it happen, cuz if it did she would of taken it as a promise and we all know it's a one I can't keep"
Melody was a bit surprised to hear all of this, she said: "do you think she's fool enough to forget about your plans?"
Kurapica answered: "I know she's not, but me and her in the main time is a bad idea in so many ways, and I think she already knows that…I just hoped things would of worked differently in our last session, I feel like we left things in a dark place"
Melody put her hand on his shoulder : "I can't say that you didn't, but Amara is a tough girl she'll recover it and I'm sure the next time you see her the first thing she says is a sarcastic comment about your hair"
Kurapica smiled and Melody too, deep down in Melody's heart…she hoped what she just said will become true.
(***)
Amara stood in the dark yard of her house, her 'master's house. Although she has a good amount of money thanks to her job, she kept on living with Abengane. She didn't consider moving out not even once, because one of Amara's greatest fears is being alone. She can't stand the idea of returning to a place that she calls home without someone in there waiting for her, to her Home is a place that you share with someone you care about. Amara sighed heavily watching the lights of her master's bedroom, She was telling him through her aura that she's home. As she expected the back door opened slightly revealing a tall and big shadow behind it. Abengange walked out, she noticed that he still wears his formal cloths. She said rising her hand:
"before you say anything, I'm s…."
She was interrupted by a big hug, Her face was buried in his chest. It was pretty rare for him to show any kind of affection toward anyone and that made her feel even more guilty. He said:
"you almost gave me a heart attack, never do that again"
She said when he let go of her: "I'm sorry, something came up and…"
Abengane said: "stuff come up out of nowhere all the time Amara that's the way our job works, but that doesn't mean it's okay for you to shut me out like this, just let me know instead of making me go crazy"
Amara said again: "I'm sorry, you're right and I promise it'll never happen again"
Abengane took her suitcase saying : "I hope so"
They walked toward the house, the house was near the forest which is the furthest side of the 'Ryuu' town. Amara spent some time in her room unpacking her things, after that she took a hot bath. The bath was supposed to make her feel relaxed and fresh but it only gave her more time to think about the things she ran away from. Kurapica's last words kept playing over and over in her mind "indecent! indecent! indecent! indecent! indecent!" She pressed her hands against her chest, perhaps preparing them to catch her heart when it finally pops out!. The pain was unbearable and Amara wanted to make it stop so badly but she knows very well that it won't, only things to relieve her is making herself so busy that her mind will become too tired to replay the past and her heart is too full with the stress only. She made up her mind and when she got out of the bathroom she found Abengane walking on the hallway, She called him softly:
"master!"
He looked at her with his calm face, She said: "lets start working tomorrow, that client y…"
Abengane said carelessly: "lets not think about that now Amara"
Amara replied: "No I really want to do it and the sooner the better, we made them wait for too long"
Abengane sighed: "you disappeared right after I told you about this offer and now you show up and it's the first you want to do?"
he added getting closer to her: "I've known you since you were six Amara, and I know when something is not right"
Amara felt like the entire place was out of air, her face started getting hot. She replied:
"everything is alright, don't over think it! you said it yourself stuff and complications happen in our job, and I was having one of those, that's it!"
Abengane gave her that assessing look of his which made her even more nervous ,He finally said passing her :
"whatever you say, now do yourself a favor a get some rest"
Amara watched him entering his room silently, then she headed to her room throwing herself on that sweet bed and not long after that she fell asleep.
She Opened her eyes slowly, finding herself in that small dark room back in Hills. Amara freaked out, the feelings of cold, hurt, hunger and loneliness attacked her all at once. She almost forgot all this mixture of feelings restraining her until she sees the pearly gates. the four years old girl practically waited for her death every single night. Here's Miss Claudia entering her room throwing her pieces of leftovers then ordering her to be a good girl or else she would never let her out. The scene changed, now she was beating up to death by her mates and no one was welling to make it stop. The principal flogging her, Angelica and angel, She remembered all the nights she kept praying for someone to save her and her friends. Kurapica looking at her with his beautiful scarlet eyes and tears streaming down his face, behind him dozens of eyeless dead bodies, fire was everywhere, she couldn't breathe nor scream, she couldn't help him…what's done is done…
"Amara do you want me to come in?!"
Amara suddenly jumped off her bed then fell on the wooden floor. She groaned lightly hearing Abengane again:
"I'm coming in!"
Amara screamed: "NO!"
She saw the door knob stops moving, She said trying to make her voice as normal as possible:
"I'm fine, was just a nightmare"
She heard him sighing then his footsteps going away. She must of screamed pretty loudly that it woke him up like that. It's not the first time, actually ever since Angelica and Angel left she started having those rough nights. Abengane from all the people knows that she doesn't like to share her weakness with anyone, that's why he never entered the room or even bother asking, though her screams must of been awful to make him break this rule, or is it just that he's worried about her ever since she disappeared?. Amara then tried to get back to sleep but she just couldn't, all these visions kept haunting her every time she closes her eyes. After hours of being restless the sun came up making her forget about sleeping and start getting ready for the job today. She wore a sleeveless white top and floral skirt dress with light brown wedge boots, after that she styled her hair into long side braid then tried to hide the dark circles under her eye with makeup, and she kind of succeeded. Amara tried to put a lot of think in her look not to impress her client because she never really considers their opinion in her appearance as a professional business woman should be, but because she wanted to block the unpleasant thoughts that kept playing in her mind. After she was done, Amara got out of her room heading to Abengane's, which is in the same hall. Amara knocked two times and immediately got a response:
"come in, Amara"
And she did, his room was dark as usual and herbal odor filling the air, the fire place was crackling. Abengane was sitting on the floor facing the fire with his eyes close and a calm expression on his face. Anyone -besides Amara- would think he's asleep or something but Amara knows it's a "connection ritual" where he literally communicate with the spirits, it was obvious from the goblet of blood in front of him and couple ingredients here and there but most importantly that ugly straw doll in his lap, Amara always hated it ever since she was little it freaks her out every time. Amara stated:
"so I'm not the only one who's restless today"
Abengane replied slowly: "I guess"
Amara knows it's her fault for waking him up with her stupid screams, She said: "I'm sorry"
Abengane stopped his ritual then gave her a serious look, he started:
"I informed the people that we're coming today and made reservations for us at the airship"
Amara questioned: "reservations for us? you're coming with me! that's a first"
Abengane said getting up: "of course, this client is like nothing you've seen before I assure you"
he added while wearing his classic jacket over the sweater: "but don't get nervous you can still do the job perfectly"
she said feeling a strange excitement : "great! so when we're leaving?"
Abengane said : "after one hour, but we're leaving to the airport now"
Amara picked an apple in her way out then stood still in the middle of the yard, inhaling the fresh morning air. She heard Abengane's heavy footsteps passing her then saying:
"are you going to stand there forever?"
She chuckled then followed him, they were going to the bus station on their feet like always, because it wasn't too far and Abengane was never fond of vehicles, he would use them whenever it's necessary. It was a nice day, even though it's too early to tell but the sunrise was beautiful and warm and the sky was clear. Amara interrupted the peaceful silence:
"you know every time I leave I always get the feeling that I'm not coming back"
Abengane's head slowly turned to her, He said : "you know I always make sure you're not going somewhere dangerous, you don't know that but I do"
Amara thought "it's not that I'm afraid of my job, I'm not even afraid, by not coming back I meant going away" but she didn't have the heart to say that to him, or is it the gut that she's lacking?. Suddenly Angelica's voice echoed in her mind "whatever you're doing against that man's will, keep on doing it!" her heart skipped a beat! she just remembered her promise to Angelica and their meet up, it never crossed her mind that her best friends faces would be such a great distraction than a client she's not 100% focused on and as what she heard from her master she need to do it perfectly. Amara said looking at him deeply:
"Angelica called me a while ago"
Abengane replied without looking at her: "yeah I called to check if she knows something about your whereabouts"
Amara snorted saying: "master we haven't met ever since they left us, what makes you think she knows, beside how did you know where to contact her"
Abengane answered carefully: "I used a locating spell"
Amara started getting suspicious, she said: "you'll need something from her possessions?…"
Abengane said like he was trapped in a corner: "I contacted Hills"
Amara stopped walking saying loudly: "you did what?!"
Abengane stopped with her and after he did a quick look around, he replied: "relax they only sent pictures and just so you know the old staff been completely replaced"
Abengane added making her walk again: "after Claudia's death the entire thing started falling apart then the government knew about their cruel treatment with children ,it's odd to say but Hills is a good place now"
Amara repeated when her fingers automatically flew to her back: "Claudia's death?"
She was moving her fingers over the old scar in her back, Amara thought: "how is she dead while her scar is still living with me?!"
It's like Abengane was following her thoughts, he said putting his hand over her shoulder:
"it's really over Amara, don't let it haunt you forever"
She felt safe when he touched her, he doesn't do it a lot…being compassionate but when he does it's completely wonderful. They made it to the bus station then got into the one heading to the airport and during the journey she kept on wondering for literally the thousand time why her friends didn't like this man when he did nothing but good to them, seriously adopting three orphans in such a young age is totally heroic and not anyone can do that. She kept looking at him while he was reading the newspaper with the that facial expression she could never read or understand, his presence comfort her and make her feel protected, he's basically the closest thing for a father to her…why would she abandon him?. Amara whispered:
"master?"
He answered after a while: "they serve food in the airship Amara be patient"
She giggled lightly then said: "that's great, although I wanted to tell you (thank you)"
He asked her without taking his eyes off the newspaper: "for what, kid?"
Amara answered smiling: "for every single thing"
Abengane locked eyes with her, he asked: "what is it with you today you're acting strange"
Amara said trying to keep a serious face: "I never said it to you before but you should know that I appreciate it, everything you did to me, everything you did to us and everything that you still do"
Abengane's gaze become softer, he said with a deep voice:
"this is a nice thing to hear kid but just so you know I'm not as amazing as you think, keeping you three wasn't coming from the goodness of my heart, you kids got me curious to know more about you ever since Hills days, you had unique powers and I wondered what would happen if I can unleash it completely and get it under control, I never admited it but at first I took it as an experiment and the twins sensed that in me, they saw through me like glass that's why they never liked me…and you're the only one who understood it differently and by time I realized that you understood it all right, no matter what my intentions were in the beginning something else grew within us, it was a bond that never occurred to me and just then I knew that it got more than power, curiosity and experimenting…we became a family!"
Amara couldn't hide how shocked she is, this explains so much! why a single young man would take care of three children, why two of them hated him and why she's the only one left. she cleared her throat then looked at his dark eyes that were waiting for a response, she whispered:
"fair enough!"
Abengane nodded with a rare glow in his eyes that she recognize very well, he was grateful. after the bus arrived to the airport they directly took off to the ship. After three hours Amara asked while eating the last piece of her burger:
"So again lets review the informations about this client"
Abengane said in a casual manner: "26 years old male, Nen type is specialization and the Nen case is obstruction, he has someone else's nen inside of him which is blocking his own"
Amara commented thoughtfully: "how brilliant!"
Amara said again :"you told me that this person is alive right?"
Abengane answered: "yeah and whatever his technique was, I must admit it's a very strong resolve"
He then added: "so your job is purifying his body, now I know that you haven't done that before but…"
Amara said :"actually I did ! not very long ago and the Nen belonged to a dead person"
Abengane gave her a piercing look, he said : "please tell me you're joking!"
Amara said biting her lower lip: "sorry I'm not"
Amara started telling her master about that night with Kurapica's and Kortopi fight, of course she kept the details about her feelings to Kurapica from him, her story was basically about how she went shopping with the Boss's daughter then someone attacked one of the bodyguards then put their Nen inside of the body before he drops daed and Amara couldn't stop herself from helping the needy bodyguard. Abengane remained silent for a while, then he said:
"where did you trapped that Nen?"
Amara answered feeling guilty again: "inside of me"
Abengane opened his mouth probably about to give her the longest lecture in history and how what she did was a pure madness, but he closed it swallowing whatever he was going to say. he said:
"how long did you fight it?"
Amara didn't need to ask how he knew there was a fight in the first place, because an Exorcist with his experience must of started somewhere. Amara answered:
"two days"
Abengane sighed saying: "well you were lucky that person wasn't dead for long, it would of cost you a life"
Amara didn't dare to ask the life of whom he meant. Abengane ordered her:
"promise me you'll never ever do such a reckless thing"
Amara said honestly: "I promise!"
Abengane said again: "now don't worry about the Nen you'll be getting out of him I'll let the spirits take care of it"
After another two hours they arrived their desired spot, they rode a taxi which took them to a very isolated area that's nothing more but ruins. Amara asked wearily:
"master are you sure it's the right place?"
"it sure is"
A strange voice answered her not her master's, she located it, it was coming from a person standing in the shadows meters away from them. Abengane said casually:
"Ah…Hisoka, I see that you got my message"
The person named Hisoka walked toward them slowly allowing the sunlight to expose his muscular figure, her eyes couldn't believe what they were witnessing, an adult man stood in front of her wearing a magician sort of like outfit, and a face paint! which was a maroon star on his right cheek and a spring green teardrop on his left cheek. He had a spiky red hair and sharp eyes, regardless of his lovely appearance, even normal people can sense he's dangerous from only the first sight.
Hisoka said with a soft voice, too soft: "of course, and I set my hopes too high this time"
He finished his Sentence laying his eyes on her, she felt like as if they were piercing her soul…Amara didn't like this Hisoka at all. Abengane said:
"this is Amara the catcher, my student"
Abengane said it proudly it made her pull herself together against hisoka's stare. Hisoka said walking around her in circles as if he was examining her:
"she's absolutely an eye catcher if that's what you mean"
Abengane cleared his throat loudly so Hisoka stopped moving. the red-haired guy said to her with a sly smile:
"show me your Nen sweetheart"
Amara said without thinking : "I'm not your sweetheart! plus I don't take orders except from my master if I would I'll choose someone that doesn't cover himself with as much colors"
Abengane made an uncomfortable move toward her, as if he was getting ready for an attack or something. Then he took her arm moving slowly to the back, Amara looked at him trying to read his unreadable face but then her eyes flew to Hisoka's form. Now it make sense, The weirdo was covering his entire face with his big hand. The awkward situation lasted for a few moments then Hisoka's body started shaking, Amara thought "Dammit did I make him cry?!" but the noise he made after seconds proved her wrong, he was hysterically laughing!. Amara heard her master whispering:
"don't talk with him and stay close to me"
Hisoka finally managed to say: "Oh sassy girl, such a turn on"
If Amara was unsure whether this Hisoka is creepy or not, now she's 100% sure!.
Abengane said tiredly: "just take us to him Hisoka"
Hisoka shook his shoulders saying: "sorry but last time he wasn't quite happy with your work and this time if I'm gonna take you to him I must be 100% sure it'll work"
Abengane then turned to Amara saying with steady voice: "show him your Nen Amara"
Amara gave Hisoka a weary look then took a few steps away, she closed her eyes taking a deep breath then, She released her aura suddenly and massively. Amara opened her red eyes looking straight to Hisoka's and moving her aura in a threatening manner. After she finished she walked toward her master again. Hisoka made a weird expression with his face then he lot out a loud moan, something that made Amara shiver. Hisoka licked his lips then looked at her with his light eyes burning:
"delicious fruite!"
Amara thought trying to hide her figure behind her master's "is that some kinda weird way to flirt or did this person completely lost it?!"
After a while of standing still, Hisoka shook it off then decided to take them to their client, they walked about 15 minutes then he stopped in front of what looked like an old sea ship, it was irrelevant to the rest of the ruins considering the nature of the place, Hisoka pressed at something and a small hole opened so he entered it and they followed him. Amara saw a small wooden stairs that Abengane helped her to climb it, she sniffed a weird smell and tons of dust, it was dark and without her master's hand she would of hit something or at least fell, they reached what looked like a small hall and Hisoka stopped in front of a door then pushed it with his strong arm. After Hisoka entered the room they waited for one minute then entered the room. It was a huge empty room except for Hisoka and the Figure that was sitting in the middle over what looked like chair, the figure was facing the window which was taking half of the wooden wall allowing the sunlight to fill the room with its warmth. The figure spoke, it was a clear and deep voice:
"Hello again Abengane"
Abengane replied while the figure stood: "Chrollo this time you won't be disappointed, I assure you"
While her master was talking the figure walked toward them and he got closer enough for sunlight to expose his features. He had the body of a fighter it's obvious, he was bare-chested and covering the rest of his body with fur trench coat, his skin was pale enhancing the darkness of his hair, he kept getting closer till Amara noticed with wide eyes the cross tattoo on the middle of his forehead. He stood right in front of her with couple centimeters away, when Amara first made an eye contact with him…his dark eyes paralyzed her. She couldn't move, speak nor breathe! she felt the crazy rhythm of her heart tearing her apart. His black eyes were filled with too much darkness, cruelty, coldness and wildness!…too much evil it can swallow her. Amara's mind turned into a blank.
Chrollo outstretched his hand with an emotionless face, he held her hand tenderly as if she was made of glass. Amara wanted to fight it but she couldn't, she kept on locking eyes with him without a single blink. Chrollo slowly bowed then touched her hand with his frozen lips, he was kissing it!. His facial expressions suddenly changed into a dazzling smile, he said with the same deep voice:
"you're finally here my savior…I'm Chrollo Lucilfer!"
