Three hours later, B'Elanna finally came back to Janeway's quarters to pick up little Cassie.
She rang the chime and heard no answer.
Finally a breathless Kathryn Janeway opened the door. "Hi B'Elanna, I fed Cassie and she has been asleep for a couple of hours."
B'Elanna smirked and went to get her daughter out of the bassinette. "You two trying to make one of your own?" She laughed.
"Not funny B'Elanna, and no just re-aquainting ourselves after a long absence. We didn't have a honeymoon after all."
B'Elanna Picked up her daughter and turned to Kathryn. "I'll tell you about the trans-warp progress later. You appear to be busy."
Kathryn blushed and B'Elanna let out a laugh and left the quarters.
Kathryn walked into the bedroom. "Our engineer caught us just finishing the act. She was wondering if we were trying to make a playmate for Cassie."
Chakotay laughed, "No but it sure is fun pretending."
[3 hours later – MESS HALL]
The group met and Janeway and Chakotay stared at the engineers. "So did you make progress on the transwarp drive?"
Harry piped up, "We're ready to give it a go. Chakotay will have to be at the helm so just ask him not to crash the damn ship."
The girls snickered, "I'm sure he'll be fine."
Janeway looked at everyone, "Before we try this flight, we have to decide what we're going to do. If we give this to the Federation council they will probably drop all charges against us." She paused. "Or –"
Both Harry and B'Elanna stared at their two former commanding officers. Chakotay chimed in, "Or we have been thinking if this transwarp works we could make our way to where the 37's were and join that colony. Our knowledge could really assist in getting them up to the level of technology that the Federation is at."
Harry and B'Elanna stared at each other. "We really don't have anything left here do we?"
Kathryn bowed her head, "I would miss my family but we are fugitives here. There is nothing left we can hope to accomplish."
The group nodded. "I guess out decision is made then." Kathryn looked at the group, "Tomorrow we make our way once more to the Delta Quadrant."
Everyone nodded and off they went to the respective dwellings.
[JANEWAY QUARTERS]
Chakotay stared at his wife. "So what do you think? After all those years trying to get home, we're headed right back out there."
"I think that it was the journey and the people we met on Voyager that made it all worth while."
Chakotay nodded, "I agree."
He went to the back of their quarters and pulled out a bottle of Antarian Cider. "A celebration?"
Kathryn stared at the bottle of alcohol and then back at her husband. Sure let's celebrate.
She smiled and got out the glasses. She was making her way back to the couch when she got dizzy and dropped on of the glasses almost falling on the floor.
"Kathryn!"
She got her bearings and went back to get another glass. "Sorry it was the weirdest thing; I felt dizzy all of a sudden."
She got the second glass and a dustpan and brush to clean up the broken glass.
She sat down on the couch beside Chakotay and opened the bottle beginning to pour the ale. Her hand got shaky and she passed the bottle to Chakotay. "Maybe you'd better do the pouring."
Chakotay took the bottle and stared at his wife. He took out the tricorder he knew she kept stashed in the living area.
As he stared down at the readings his eyebrows shot up.
"What?! What's wrong?"
He passed the tricorder to his wife. "No way."
"I guess we'll skip the drinking tonight and go see the Doctor."
Chakotay chuckled, "That would probably be a good idea."
They made their way out of their quarters and headed to the medical lab. "Computer activate EMH."
Kathryn's hand was shaking as she stared at the tricorder and scanned herself over and over again getting the same results.
The Doctor materialized. "Please state the nature of – Hello."
Kathryn passed the tricorder to him, "Am I see what I think I'm seeing?"
The Doctor looked down at the tricorder, "Congratulations."
Kathryn sat down on the biobed before she passed out.
Chakotay sat down beside his wife and took her hand. "This is a good thing Kathryn."
"But how? I thought we were too old for this sort of thing."
The Doctor took the tricorder and began scanning her from head to toe. "Well your blood pressure is a little high, you need to calm down."
Kathryn glared at the Doctor, "You just told me I was pregnant, we're fugitives from the law, we're going to test a new method of propulsion tomorrow and you're telling me to calm down!"
Chakotay laced his fingers in Kathryn's. "It will be okay honey."
"Don't honey me. You'd better be there this time."
Chakotay laughed, "I wouldn't have it any other way."
The Doctor walked up to the shocked couple. "Kathryn why don't you lie down so I can do a more detailed scan."
Kathryn nodded and laid down on the biobed. "Human female, 45 years of age." He ran the tricorder over her once more, "The baby looks fine for 10 weeks."
Chakotay grinned. "We're going to have a baby Kathryn."
She raised an eyebrow at him, "Looks that way." She turned to the Doctor, "May I go now?"
The Doctor nodded, "Be back here in two weeks for your 3 month check-up."
Kathryn sighed. "Yes Doctor."
And the couple left and went back to their quarters. "Should I give the cider to Harry and B'Elanna then?"
Kathryn glared at him, "And I suppose you'll be wanting me to cut down on my caffeine and eat better too?"
Chakotay laughed and went up to her and lifted her shirt exposing the barely discernable swell of her abdomen. "Hi baby, you're mother and I can't wait to meet you."
Kathryn rolled her eyes. "I am going to be such a bear without coffee."
Chakotay looked at her, "The Doctor said limit your caffeine intake don't stop."
She drew in a deep breath, "I'm not taking any chances. Let's go to bed."
Chakotay nodded and the couple made their way to bed.
