I awoke to Tobias's alarm at 7:00 a.m. feeling a little sore and very happy. I slap the snooze button and roll over to find him smiling at me. "Good morning," He says. His voice still rough with sleep. "How are you?" There is concern in his voice and his eyes roam over me as if Checking for visible signs of our actions last night.
"I am fabulous actually. I am a little nervous about work tomorrow though. I hope everything goes okay," I respond. Careful not to say anymore. I don't think Eric would go as far as to wire tap Tobias's apartment, but you cannot be too careful with Eric. Dealing with him is like dealing with a stick of dynamite. Tobias leans over and kisses me lightly.
"I know you can do it. You'll be Dauntless. But I was referring to last night. No regrets?" He asks, smiling at the memory.
"None," I say before rolling closer to him. "It was everything I wanted. Awkward, terrifying, beautiful, and completely wonderful."
"Well," he says slowly, pulling me closer to him and smiling. "I hear practice makes perfect."
"I look forward to practice," Remembering not too long ago when he would have said the same thing about my fighting skills. "However, don't you have a control to manage?" Groaning he pulls his muscular frame out of bed.
"I do actually. Would you like to see how it all works?" He asks while turning towards the bathroom.
"I think I would like that. Although I should probably go to my apartment to shower and change first, I look a mess," I say gesturing at my outfit of his shirt while turning to gather my clothes.
"Personally, I like this fashion choice," He says, still smiling. This is probably the most I have ever seen him smile.
"Ah, but would you like me marching around all over Dauntless in it?" I ask, knowing his answer.
"God, no." He said in his quiet voice.
"Didn't think so. So how about I meet you at breakfast? In 20 minutes?" I ask, pulling on my jeans from last night.
"Sounds good," He says to me before giving me a kiss and stepping into the bathroom. As I stand I can feel my legs protest a bit. Thankfully, I am used to soreness and welcome this particular ache. Last night was worth a little muscle pain. Thankfully, I do not pass anyone from Tobias's apartment to mine. And when I slip in I note that Christina is still asleep before remembering that her shift does not start until 12 today. I creep into the bathroom and jump in the shower. I hum a little to myself and quickly wash my body and hair. As soon as I step out and wrap a towel around myself Christina throws open the bathroom door.
"Oh. My. God. Becky." I have no idea who Becky is, but judging by the look on Christina's face I felt bad for poor Becky. "You. Have. To. Tell. Me. Every. Detail. Was it big? I bet it was big. He's pretty tall. Was he good? I bet he has some experience not that makes it any less special for you. Well, he was Abnegation like you, so I guess maybe not. Ohmygod, there is a WHOLE new meaning to the term "Stiff" now. That's hilarious. Unless, of course, it wasn't. I mean if it was his first time he could have been nervous and not have been able to, ya know, perform. Well, actually you wouldn't know. Okay, well sometimes when a guy is trying to-"
"CHRISTINA." I yell at her not wanting to hear her explicit explanation. "It was perfect. That's all you need to know." I say before pushing around her and into my room, closing and locking the door.
"Ummm, excuse me? Best friend here. I need WAYY more details than that." She said through the door.
"Well, maybe in 5 years I will tell you. I just don't really want to share this now. It's between Four and me," I say, while throwing on clothes. The benefit of wearing 99% black is that matching is never an issue. Christina would probably disagree. Her mantra is "color, texture, and shine". Although the color aspect is pretty limited that girl has the shine part covered.
"Okay, Tris. Five years from now to the day you are going to sit and tell me every little detail about your night. However, for now I will be accepting of your weird Abnegation values and allow you to only share minimal details that we will discuss tonight. Deal?" She demands through the door still.
"Fine." I say opening it and stepping out, knowing I will never get a better compromise than that.
"Tris. Where is your shine?!" I hear her call after me down the hallway. "You NEED shine. Especially today!" She runs into her room and reappears with a small statement necklace make of six silver jeweled triangles. I nod with approval, before she clasps it around my neck. "Happiness looks beautiful on you, Tris. You should wear it more."
"The necklace?" I ask, confused.
"No, Tris. Your smile. It radiates true happiness." She said, making me beam at her more. I felt like a four year old girl would had just been told she would be getting a puppy. Except I got a Tobias, which in my opinion, was better.
Hi again everyone. Sorry for the really awful formatting on the first submission of this chapter. That's what you get when don't double check your document before posting. Basically I took a break because I was reading lots of other books and wanted to let Allegiant stew. Personally, I think the story is logical even if not my personal favorite. But aways, I am back and hoping to get this story underway again. In case you can't tell I really love fluff. So it will be all kinds of fluffy. I will be developing the plot, but slowly because I really want to focus on character development. Thank you for reading and for all the reviews, they really brighten my day.
Disclaimer: I do not own these characters. They belong to the lovely, Veronica Roth.
