This one-shot is for Chocolate. I've never written a cancer story before, so I'm sorry if it sucks. I had a bit of a struggle, because of some personal stuff to do with cancer, but I did try my best. Hope you like it! Love you penguins! ~Blackbird
"Thank-you." Ross said, softly.
"That's what we're here for." Dr. Lynch said, flashing Ross a perfect smile. Rydel noticed that Ross seemed to blush when the doctor flashed him that smile. Dr. Lynch winked, "See you later Ross." Once he was gone, Rydel turned to her brother.
"He was totally flirting with you!" she squealed.
"He was not." Ross said, blushing again. "I don't even have hair anymore, Delly. I'm nothing special."
"I think Dr. Lynch would beg to differ." Rydel sang. Ross rolled his eyes, and went back to watching T.V.
"Aw, come on Rossy. I just want you to be happy." Rydel said.
Ross chuckled bitterly. "Happy?! Del, I have freakin' cancer. Nothing is happy."
Rydel sighed, "Ross you have to think positively. Your going to get better."
"You don't know that Delly. Nobody does." Ross said. Rydel started crying, Ross' face softened, and he put his hand on his sister's arm.
"I'm sorry, Del. That was to far.", he said, quietly.
Rydel took a deep breath, and tried to control her tears. "It's okay. I forgive you. I'm just gonna take a walk for a minute." Ross nodded, sadly and Rydel left. She walked around for a bit, not really going anywhere specific. Ross needed some reason to get better. He didn't think he was needed here. Rydel was determined to get Ross and Dr. Lynch together. Although first she better make sure the doctor didn't just flirt with everybody. She walked to information.
"Excuse me, can you tell me where I can find Dr. Lynch?" she asked.
"Are you family?" the lady at information asked.
"I'm his cousin." Rydel lied. If it the issue had been any less important than her brother she might've felt bad for lying, but as it was Rydel couldn't find it in her to be sorry.
"He's in his office, four door on the left. Fifth floor." the lady said.
"Thank-you." Rydel said. She followed, the lady's instructions and found the doctor's office. The plate outside the door said, R. Lynch. She wondered what the R stood for. She knocked on the doo.
"Come in." a voice said.
"Hello." Rydel saidly, brightly, opening up the door.
"Hello, Rydel." Dr. Lynch said, frowning. "Ross' is okay right?"
"He's fine. I just." she bit her lip. "Do you like my brother?"
"I..." the doctor's gaze wouldn't meet hers. "I...yes."
Rydel squealed. "You should tell him...By the way what does the R. stand for?"
He gave her a weird look. "It stands for Riker. And I can't tell him. He doesn't like me."
"He does like you. And that's a nice name." Rydel said.
"I can't tell him." Riker said, shaking his head.
"Why not?!" Rydel said, "He needs a reason to stay here. You can give him that in a way I can't. Ross has always dreamed of a Disney ending to his love story. You can be that."
Riker looked at her uncertainly. "The tests show that the chemo is working. He apparently already has a reason to stay here."
"You!" Rydel said, trying not to scream at how oblivious the young doctor was being. "You are his reason to stay. Tell him that you like him, please." Then she left. Riker bit his bottom lip and thought about what she said. Should he tell Ross or not?
That night after visiting hours, Riker made his way to Ross' room. The room was dark, and the boy was sound asleep on the bed. Riker pulled the chair, up to the edge of Ross' bed, and sat down. He held the younger boys' hand gently in his own. Asleep, Ross looked like even more of an angel than he did during the day.
"I don't really know how to tell you this." Riker said. "I can't even tell you when your awake because I'm to scared that you'll reject me. But I've fallen in love with you Ross. I don't know how or why. I just know I love you, and I pray everyday that you don't leave me. And I wish I knew if you loved me too." Riker looked down at his feet.
"I do.", came a soft reply from the bed. Riker looked at the bed. Ross was smiling sleepily at him.
"Your awake." Riker breathed out shocked.
Ross smiled gently, "I wish youd've told me sooner."
"Ross, your getting better." Riker said, frowning.
"I know. I'm just sad I had to wait so long to do this." he leaned forward and pressed his lips against Riker's.
"I love you." Ross said, when they broke a part.
"I love you too." Riker said.
Three months later...
"Come on, babe. We need to go!" Riker called.
"I'm coming!" Ross said, slipping into his shoes. He was finally leaving the hospital, and he couldn't be happier. He climbed into Riker's car.
"Ready to go?" Riker asked.
"Let's go." Ross agreed. Riker smiled at him, and they started on their way to Ross' house.
"I'm so glad your going home." Riker said.
"Me too." Ross said. "But really my home is with you. Riker winked at him, and grabbed Ross hand in the middle, as they headed toward there future together.
Okay, the ending pretty much sucked, but other than that I think it was okay. I hope it was, anyway. :)
