Stop and Stare
Summary: Draco smirked as he saw Kagome blink and ask, "Would you repeat that? I don't think I heard you correctly." He laughed, "I think you heard me right Higurashi, I am here because my father has showed an interest in you...and I want my father happy." Standing up he gave her a wink, "I will see you tonight...mother!" Then he disappeared with a loud crack and leaving a stunned Kagome behind.

Luna watched her friend leave and gave a smile, the girl needed to let some of her guard down and really let people into her heart. They might just surprise her.
Her smile grew when she felt arms go around her shoulders and a kiss was placed on the side of her head, "...thank you. You are an angel"
Blaise Zabini grinned at his girlfriend, he knew he could count on her to help him. He didn't know how he was going to help Draco until he talked to Luna...she came up with the idea of him letting her talking to Kagome.
...and it seemed it might have worked...or at least, now Higurashi would think twice and maybe give Lucius Malfoy a chance on 'wooing' her into marriage.
'This is not something I thought I would be helping with when I befriended Draco.' Blaise thought as he snorted at the thought if someone ever told him Kagome Higurashi would be a Malfoy someday, laughable to think, really. 'As long as I don't get dragged into the drama to come...I'm good.' Blaise shuddered at the thought of the temper Higurashi was known for. He didn't want to be around when Malfoy pissed her off...and he knew Lucius would end up pissing her off. Draco had done it plenty of times. "Thank You again..." Blaise muttered as he let her go and sat down next to the blonde haired woman he loved so dearly.
Luna smiled brightly, kissing his cheek, "It is no problem. Kagome Higurashi is someone I consider a dear friend. She is kind...and she needs someone in her life. Maybe Mr. Malfoy will be that someone...I don't know as of yet. However, what I do know, is that she needs to give people a chance...that is all I told her, all the assistance I could give you. Perhaps...that is all she'll need..."
Blaise nodded, he hoped that chance would be all that Malfoy Senior needed, though he had a feeling he would need a lot more than that. 'I feel like the drama is just going about to start...' this was the last thought he had before he put it in the back of his mind and enjoyed time with his lovely girlfriend.

Kagome stared up at the tea shop she'd had that first fateful cup of tea with Draco. The memory entirely too clear in her head, being called "mom" was only just the beginning of her annoyances...the list went on as she had arrived at the estate. Thinking over it...the drama started when Severus was brought up. "...Severus..." she closed her eyes, not aware of the set of eyes watching her as she turned and walked off. She thought back to the war, her mind playing over various memories...until finally stopping.
Fire burning, the smell of flesh being melted from bone, ashes in the air and cobblestone beneath her feet. The Castle was in shambles, and with the final fall of Voldemort, everyone was either receiving medical care or trying to held with the clean up. As if they had just had some huge party and now they needed to clean up their mess. She looked around at some of the unlucky individuals, the bodies not moving, no sign of breathing from their stilled chests. A hand found her shoulder, and defensively, she knocked it away, her wand readied and pointing dangerously at the person who had touched her, ready to kill if need be.
"Kagome..."
"Harry...hasn't anyone ever told you not to sneak up on a person after a war?"
"Afraid not, there was never a situation that called for such wise words."
Kagome smiled, despite the scenery around them. "What is it then, what do you want?"
"...Snape and you...were close..."
"Were? I don't understand what you are implying..." her voice raising, a tone of defense making its way to the tenor she used.
"He was killed during the war, Voldemort killed him..."
Kagome shook her head, "where is he?" her voice came out broken, a nearly unheard whisper.
"I'm sorry?" Harry frowned.
"WHERE IS HE!?"
Harry jumped and pointed hurriedly at the anger and fear flooding her voice, "The Shrieking Shack...!
Kagome ran, her wand hit the floor unbeknownst to her as she ran outside the doors of Hogwarts and towards the Whomping Willow, ducking a branch that aimed for her, she rolled and then landed carefully back on her feet before jumping and sliding down through the hole at the base of the tree.
She found the walk and followed it to the steps at the end, climbing frantically, then scourging the Shack in a hurried panic before finally finding a stilled figure leaning against the wall lopsided. Her eyes filled with tears that burned her eyes, and her heart cried louder than she could make a sound. It hurt...
"Severus..." she moved closer, slowly...scared to touch him, to feel this reality. "Severus!" Her legs gave out under the pressure that this reality was offering her, and she broke down, tears giving her no reprieve, no rest, nor comfort. Her heart lay bleeding on the old and long since abandoned floor of the shack, sorrow spilling from its opened wounds.
"...Kagome..."
Kagome crawled closer to the Professor, it was not his voice she heard, it was Harry's, he had followed her. No doubt in worry.
"Why him...why did he have to die? He didn't deserve to die Harry! He loved you guys, so much so, he was willing to die on the frontlines for all of you! He protected the whole lot of you, and for what?! Hurtful words and slurs, unkind glares and conspiracy rumors? He didn't deserve to die...he didn't..."
"Kagome, here..."
Kagome turned and looked to see what it was he was trying to give to her.
"This is?"
"Severus's tears...memories...I already looked at them."
Kagome spared a look at Harry, and saw tears burning at the edges of his own eyes, though more unwilling to shed them, he kept them at bay. "You looked at them?"
"You're right, he didn't deserve to die...he's a Hero...a Hero who died protecting me, and the rest of the students at this school. He loved my mom...and tried to protect her...tried, failed...then dedicated his life to protecting this school. He was bullied by my father, lied to by Voldemort, forced into a wizard's oath to protect Draco, forced to kill Dumbledore by Dumbledore...and then...killed by Nagini...on Voldemort's orders...for a stupid...stupid wand. He got treated terribly by everyone...what he deserved...what he got...they are two very different things...but, he had you. He loved you, Kagome. You see that, in his memories, there are many of you, many of how happy you made him, just being near him and making him smile. That is something that you did. I think, much like a father would, he held you in very high regards."
"I miss him Harry, he hasn't been gone but a few hours...and yet, I miss him so much."
"You will, and much more later on...for now, be strong Kagome...be proud..."
Kagome let her head drop to Severus's shoulder and cried at the chill of his body. Shoulders shaking, tears falling, heart aching...
Kagome opened her eyes at the feel of warm arms winding around her, she turned in her surprise and found herself being held by none other...than Lucius Malfoy.

Akuma: So...yeah...I'm actually really tired, but tomorrow, I get off at six, so when I get home, I'll start writing another chapter, nyan~! Hope you all enjoyed this one. I really wanted to delve into Kagome's and Severus's relationship, but more than that, I wanted to focus on the end of the war, and how she was left emotionally after finding Severus, and why her reaction to negativity towards Severus was so severe as far as her temper goes. Anyways, let us know what you all think~!
Yuki: I hope you all enjoyed this. Things are going to be getting interesting soon! Read and review! Tell us what you think!
