Alec, Jace and Isabelle waited for Mila to come out of the door. Not a single one of said a word and kept their eyes of the door, wanting it to open. Alec just wanted to see his sister walk out the door, see her blue eyes stare at him and her smile again. It only took her ten minutes but to Alec, it felt like forever.
Mila stepped out, dressed in a pair of jeans and a long coat covering her top. Her dark hair was pulled back in a ponytail. Her blue eyes met Alec's and a smile formed on her face. Her name formed on Alec's lips as her saw her break out into a run towards him. Oh how he had missed her.
The two of them clashed as Mila's arms flung around her brothers neck. Alec could feel his sister's tears run down onto his shoulder as he lifted her into the air. She couldnn't bring herself to say anything without crying. She had mssed them all so much. Everyday she wondered if she would ever see them again. The memory of the day she left was still fresh in her mind.
Six years ago.
Mila had been awake for hours, waiting for the dreaded moment where she would have to leave her family. She wasn't sure when the consoul would show up, but Mila knew it would be soon. They told her the day, but no time or reason. Only her parents were told the reason Mila had to leave but all they told her is because she had to go continue her shadowhunter training in Idris. Mila wasn't sure if she should have believed them when she was told, Alec, Jace and Isabelle never had to leave, so why did she?
Mila's mind told her it was five o'clock when the insitute doors opened, the consoul walked through alone. Mila was sent to get her stuff frorm her room before she was allowed to go to the library to say goodbye to her family. She headed towards her room for the final time, the room that she always slept in. Other than her, Alec was the only one who ever entered her room. He would usually come sit with before she would go to bed, where they would sit on her windowsill together until she fell asleep. She guessed Alec would carry her to her bed as that's where she would wake up.
Mila opened her bedroom door and headed straight for the windowsill, she wanted to sit there one last time before she had to leave it behind, not knowing how long it would be until she saw it and her brother again. She just wished he could be with her.
Mila sat on her windowsill for a few minutes just watching the sun very slowly start to set before she realised her bedroom door had shut, her brother standing in front of it.
"I thought I'd find you sitting there," Alec smiled to her, his bottle glass blue eyes gazing at her softly. "The consoul has decided that you're taking too long." He stepped forward to her and took his little sister in his arms, lifting her off the windowsill and onto her bed by her bag.
"I've only been here a minute," Mila whinned.
"It's been five minutes little sister." Alec replied, brushing her long hair away from her face. The resembalance between Mila and Alec was extrodinary. All three of the lightwood children looked a like, but Mila's blue eyes was what made her look more like Alec than Isabelle. They were unmistakeably similar.
Mila cuddled herself into Alec's chest. She didn't want to leave, she wished she could stay where she was forever. Just her and Alec.
"I don't want to go." Mila whispered. She wasn't sure whether Alec heard, but Alec knew full well what she had said. He didn't want to lose his little sister, but he couldn't show it to her. He had to be strong for her, for the rest of his family.
"You'll be okay, we'll see you as often as we can and, the consoul has a home waiting for you, with a nice family," He stammered.
"I don't want another family," Mila looked up at Alec, her wide eyes staring at him.
