With a subtle poof, the hokage's office materialized. Kai blinked and waved off the smoke, coughing, she looked around for Tsunade. 'Wow...', she thought. 'I've never seen someone passed out from sake.'
She heard a collective sigh from the group and glanced toward Sakura on her right.
"Sorry Kai-chan," Sakura moved forward to nudge the sleeping hokage. "This is actually pretty normal for her at this time."
Kai just nodded wordlessly as Sakura shook the blond's sleeping form gently, removing the sake bottle from her grasp. Eventually, she must have gotten pissed somewhere along the way, all of a sudden Sakura grabbed Tsunade's shoulders and began to shake her mercilessly. Kai worried if they were going to be in trouble.
"SHISHOU, WAKE THE HELL UP?!"
"Hmmm...wha...?"
Tsunade rubbed her eye sleepily and smiled at Sakura with a Naruto-looking grin. "One...two...three...no two, or was it four? Well it's multiple Sakuras."
Sakura's eye was twitching dangerously, Kai wanted instinctively to take a step back from the feeling of the tension and anger in the air. Kakashi gave a large sweat drop, Iruka walked over to Sakura and gently pried her fingers away from Tsunade. He then proceeded to give her a small pill which Sakura forced Tsunade to swallow. One minute later, Tsunade was bent over the toilet seat and releasing, what it seemed to be, everything throughout the whole day. Kai winced, she didn't like the sound of vomit, it made her stomach quesy.
Kakashi took notice of her twitch and he smirked to himself. Apparently, their teammate-to-be had a weak stomach. He would enjoy this advantage.
Tsunade thankfully finished within the minute and dragged herself back into the room looking no better than before. There were purple shadows under her eyes and she was glaring at the team. Her hair was pretty mussed up and the left side of her face, the side she had been sleeping on, was a bit red. Scratch that, make it a lot of red. And then in addition to that, her cheeks were still flush from the alcohol.
Naruto stepped forward first.
"Tsunade-baa-chan I-" A voice gave a small cough. Naruto lifted his gaze to his senseis. Both were telling him with their eyes that perhaps it was best to leave a conversation with a steadily angering lady to experienced men. Naruto gulped in agreement and stepped back.
Kakashi spoke first."Tsunade-sama," right now, Kakashi didn't want to push the woman so he addressed her respectively lest she think he was purposely aggravating her. "Kai-chan right here has something interesting to show you?"
Tsunade's stern gaze seemed to intensify as the shifting of her eyes fell upon the new addition to Konoha. Kai squirmed under her intense stare. "Um...well, Iruka-sensei do you have any more of those chakra indicator paper thingies?"
Iruka dug into one of his many front pockets and produced another thin sheet. He placed it lightly in her hand, and as he did so his fingers barely grazed Kai's fingers. Kai felt her heart speed up as she quickly turned back to Tsunade and inserted a small amount of chakra toward the object, as she did before. Time seemed to slow, as the item did what it had done before.
Tsunade seemed to display some actual interest now that she discovered their purpose of coming to her office at this time when all but Kai knew she'd be asleep. But she recognized the reaction of the chakra sheet. It had been done long ago but the present action triggered her memories.
BLAST TO THE PAST.
She had met up again with Jiraiya's team in one of their numerous missions. Jiraiya told her to wait as he pulled over one of his well-known students. Minato Namikaze, with sky blue eyes and a blond spiky hairdo that seemed to enhance his handsome face.
"Show Tsunade-nee-chan the thing you showed me."
The level of adoration and pride in Jiraiya's voice was evident as he smiled warmly at his prized disciple. The kid was smart, she had to give him that, but nee-chan?! Who the hell did Jiraiya think he was?
Minato gripped the sheet in his fist and gently released a small but significant amount of his warm chakra. The reaction was identical.
BACK TO THE PRESENT.
Tsunade didn't know how to react. Kai was getting more and more anxious for a reply. Iruka came up and said, "Tsunade-sama, what do you make of it?"
"I think we have proof you are a Namikaze, am I not right Hatake?"
Kakashi nodded in response. The moment the paper had done its intended purpose Kakashi knew, his sensei was one who loved to entertain his students.
Everyone else was the least to say, confused. What did she mean by proof?
"Namikaze Minato, otherwise known as the yondaime or Konoha's yellow flash or Naruto's father," At this, all eyes drifted silently to the jinchuriki. "Is the brother of Namikaze-Takahashi Emiko, Takahashi Kai's mother."
Naruto seemed frozen. He had never thought about Kai's responses in the training grounds when they had first met.
"Minato's chakra had displayed the same result as yours does to the chakra sheet. It is a hidden kekkei genkai, so powerful that we did not disclose information that it existed. Ever."
Now it was Kai's turn to be paralyzed. Kekkei genkai, bloodline trait, in the book of all known bloodline traits, these traits were passed down from generation to generation of descendents, meaning that she had to be from Konoha...not where she had thought her hometown had been for seventeen years.
"We're not sure about Naruto because the kyuubi sealed within him messes up his chakra so we never truly tested wether of not the trait passed onto him but now we know for sure that it continues in you."
Iruka and Sakura were speechless. Their newfound friend was related to an old friend and student and one of their past leaders. This was too much. Soon enough a crash resounded throughout the room. Naruto was passed out on the floor, his face as pale as Kakashi's hair.
A/N: forgive and forget right, people have lives, sometimes it interferes with story time. =)
