Darkest Hour
Chapter 7: She Returns.
--
Celeste Cervantes went to the door of Arc Academy. The girl, Gabrielle Ribaldi, went to school there. Celeste was proud of having found that out.
She walked into the school. She would pretend to be a new student. Until she got what she needed.
A cruel smile tugged at her lips.
--
The next day in French class Gabrielle and Selena were talking when Victor walked in. He looked worried. He started to come toward them, but the teacher said, "Mr. Von Seggrern, sit down."
He did as he was told and sat. When a blonde girl so pale that light traces of her blue vein showed through her skin appeared in the door way of the class room he jerked as if in shock.
She looked around the room, icy blue eyes searching. They skimmed over Selena and landed on Gabrielle and Victor. "Hello," she said with a lisping French accent. "I'm a new student."
"Ah," Mrs. Crebel cried. "You're French, mi no?"
"Yes," Celeste said with a slight, but elegant nod of her head.
"Wonderful!"
Celeste sat in the seat next to Gabrielle. Her eyes flew to the necklace hanging from Gabrielle's throat.
Gabrielle smiled kindly. "I'm Gabrielle," she smiled again and held out her hand for Celeste to shake.
Celeste stared at her coldly. "How nice," she said, but didn't take her hand.

Victor's P.O.V.
Seeing her, my once love, after so many years is incredible. But why is she here? For me? Or the necklace?
As soon as class ended I started toward her. But it wasn't necessary… she found me of her own accord.
"Alive..," she whispered, skimming her fingers over my cheek. "How?"
I stepped back from her. "You know the legends. All those that say we can't be killed by the sun for more than a decade… they're true."
She paused delicately, eyes flashing. "Oh."
Gabrielle walked over, smiling brightly, despite the odd conversation she had overheard.
