*Ray's POV*

"My, my, my..." Fenton murmured, flipping through the pages of one of his many assorted opera books. I lay on my bed, arms folded behind my head, staring at the ceiling.

"How interesting!"

I rolled my eyes.

"Amazing!"

"What?" I snapped, turning my head sharply to look at him.

"Nothing special, my friend!" he exclaimed, not moving his eyes from the page. "Just the history article on the original Phantom of the Opera!"

I grunted in reply, then sat up, looking at our clock. It was almost time to head to the Biology lab. Shuddering, I thought of the mountain of horrible-ness that we were forced to clean up the night before. If we were lucky, we wouldn't be stuck with such a gruelling task for this night.

Fenton started to talk again, but I cut him off, standing up from my bed. I grabbed my book-bag from my side table, and slung it over my shoulder. "I've got to go."

"Oh, I'll wait up for you, my friend!" he said, looking up from the opera magazine.

I shook my head furiously, heading towards the door. "No, Fenton, it's fine. You can go right to sleep, it'll be alright" I babbled, scared of what lecture I would get if Fenton was still awake when I got back. His lectures tended to go on for hours when he was tired. And trust me; I was not in the mood for that to happen.

"If you insist..." he murmured, looking back to his magazine.

Letting out a breath of relief, I opened the door of our room, and shut it, walking to the middle of the hall, and turning right, towards the Biology room.

Walking forward, I noticed Archer and his chubby, annoying friend Forrest sitting on the benches, talking and laughing.

I rolled my eyes as I walked past them. Always so happy and bright, Forrest and Archer. It got on my nerves. Actually, I sensed it got on most people's nerves. Oh so heroic Archer and his band of invincible misfits. Stupid little heroes, I thought, always saving the day, always getting their way, always getting the girl... The girl. I looked over my shoulder back at Forrest. He was obviously into Suki, wasn't she into him? Maybe, but it didn't seem so, not from what I knew about her. Shrugging to myself, I kept on walking, trying to forget about the whole thing and focus on what we had learned in History. Oh right, we had learned about the heroes of ancient Greece. How ironic. "Goddamn heroes" I muttered under my breath, kicking a small stone that lay on the floor of the hall.

Turning a few more halls, I found myself in front of the Biology room, and pulled the key from my book bag, to find that the door was already unlocked. Peeking in my head, I saw Suki standing by the sink.

"Hey, sorry I'm late" I said, sliding in and closing the door behind me.

She looked up as I spoke, and smiled a slight smile. "No problem" she said, and looked towards the sink. It was empty.

"I'm guessing we aren't working with rabbit's heart today?" I joked.

"I guess not" she agreed, picking up a note that Biology had left for us. "Biology says that we're to wipe the windows..." she said, turning her head towards the large, tall windows that covered the west side walls.

"Oh" she squeaked.

I picked up the bucket of soapy water, and cloths left on the table. "Well, at least it's better than rabbit's heart" I muttered.

She shrugged in agreement, and followed me towards the window, picking up the rubber gloves from the table.

Setting the bucket on the ledge, I looked to Suki. "So how do you want to do this?"

She looked at the two, large windows. "You do one, I do one?"

I hesitated. "Okay, but...I can do the higher parts. That might make more sense..."

"Why?"

"Well..." I started, awkwardly, beckoning to her short height.

"Are you saying I'm short!" she said, mocking hurt. "How rude of you!"

"Oh, shut up" I muttered, and pulled on my gloves.

She looked up. "You may want to use that ladder that Biology left out..." she said, beckoning towards the corner beside the windows.

I looked to wear she pointed, to see a tall ladder leaning against the wall. "Good plan."

I walked over to the ladder, and started to hoist it over my shoulder.

"Do you need help!" she said, rushing towards me, "you might hurt yourself..." she stopped, looking confused for a second. "Oh..." she said, nodding.

"Hyperstrength, remember?" I teased, walking back towards the window, ladder over my shoulder.

"Oh, shut up!"

She sounded annoyed.

But she also seemed to be holding down a smile.

*Suki's POV*

"Ray?" I said, finishing off the last bit of my bottom window. "Could you pass me the extra sponge?"

"Sure" he replied, throwing down the sponge from his perch on the ladder above. I looked up to see him hunched over, cleaning the lowest spot on his top window. I could see the muscle of his arms through his white t-shirt. I shook my head.

What the hell are you doing, thinking about Ray Snider's arms! I scolded myself, feeling a small blush rise up my neck. Once I recovered, I looked back to him, to see if he had progressed.

"You doing alright up there?" I asked, grabbing the sponge and placing it on the ledge beside me.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Almost finished" he replied in a monotone, concentrated voice. Accepting that he didn't need any help, I grabbed the sponge, and dipped it into the soapy water, and continued to wash the bottom part of the window.

I heard a sigh from above, and looked up to see Ray moving slightly away from the window. "Why do you think Biology is making us clean the windows inside, doesn't that seem a little neurotic to you?" he asked.

"Well, that's Biology for you. 50% neurotic, 50% insane."

He let out a little snort of laughter. "That's for sure." He moved from his seated position on the top of the ladder, to the steps, and started to climb down.

"You done?"

"Yup. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, actually."

I nodded in agreement, and stood up, reaching to pick up the dirty rag that lay on the floor.

But as I reached for it, I stepped on the wet sponge that I had left lying on the ground, and slipped, falling towards the ground. As I fell, I felt a hand against my back, and realized that Ray was trying to catch me. It seemed he almost succeeded, but slipped on the ground where the sponge had lay, and he came tumbling down with me.

We met the ground with a thud, we both let out a number of curses, before we both seemed to realize the situation that we were in.

Here I was, lying on the ground, with Ray Snider's arms wrapped around me.

A lot of girls would dream to be in this situation. To me, it was just sort of anxiety-provoking. In a good way or bad way, though, I was surprised to feel that I wasn't sure.

We looked at each other for a few moments, before he breathed out an "are you okay?"

"Yeah."

He was so close to me, and he was so warm, and...

He broke away from me quickly, not making eye contact. "I'm, um, sorry..." he said, pushing himself up from the ground. He held out a hand to me. Flustered, I took it. I was surprised to find that his hands were actually quite soft. From all the fighting he did, I would think they would've been rough, or at least a little callused.

"No, it's okay. Thanks for trying to catch me." I said, realising my hand from his, and picking up the bucket beside me.

He stayed looking at me.

"Uh, we should probably take these back to the sink."

He seemed to come out of a trance, and nodded his head. "Yeah, you're right."

I walked towards the sink, still blushing furiously.
