And all my walls stood tall painted blue
but I'll take 'em down, take 'em down
and open up the door for you

Rangiku Matsumoto was 27 years of age. In those 27 years she had been a model, a make-up artist and currently she worked behind the counter of a fancy clothes boutique. In those 27 years she had fallen in and out of love three times, had 4 boyfriends and countless dates all in the pursuit of The One.
Rangiku Matsumoto wanted to believe in love at first sight, but after just five minutes of conversation she knew exactly how long the relationship would last; and not one of her recent dates was even close to forever.
Rangiku Matsumoto knew that all her friends were happy with their significant others. She knew that Renji had loved Rukia since they were children. She knew that Orihime was wildly ecstatic that the only boy she had ever loved proposed to her. She knew that Nanao thought she should give men more than one chance as she had with Shunsui. She knew that Momo thought she should wait until she met The One like the young girl had with Toshiro.
Rangiku Matsumoto had been through all of this, believed all of this, knew all of this; so when a silver haired man walked into the store asking for a gift for his girlfriend, despite knowing she shouldn't, she couldn't help but wonder if she could rope him into a five minute conversation.
Gin Ichimaru was 31 years of age. He had had 3 girlfriends in all his life, about 4 years of random hook-ups and now he was shopping for a very cranky girlfriend.
Gin Ichimaru sometimes wondered why he was still with her. Since he entered the relationship he had taken on 3 times the amount of work in the desperate belief that he could make her happy with money. After this latest screw up (which he maintained was not his fault) he felt that the only thing that would make her happy would be some expensive scarf.
Gin Ichimaru walked into the first classy looking accessory shop he saw, and in that store he saw what he was looking for. It was a sight to behold. Beautiful, fluid and so perfect it almost glowed. She almost glowed.
"Hi there, I'm Rangiku Matsumoto. Welcome to Treasure Boutique, how may I help you? Although we are closing in a few minutes."
Gin Ichimaru heard himself mumble something about a present for his girlfriend. He saw her eyes dull with… disappointment? He saw her lips move as she asked him if he had any ideas in mind before they settled back into a pretty pout. He gestured blankly at the scarves.
Rangiku Matsumoto wondered if the stranger was shy. He didn't look like the type to be shy, and he didn't seem like the type to be blinded by her body. He hadn't even looked away from her eyes, she thought. It was hard to tell with his constant fox face squint.
Rangiku Matsumoto laid out each of the best scarves the store had on the counter. He barely glanced at them, his long fingers simply snatching up a red one and holding it out to her. She didn't know why she wished it was her he was giving the scarf to. He had barely said a word to her, never mind her standard five minutes.
Gin Ichimaru didn't know what he was doing. He was supposed to be buying a gift for his girlfriend. He couldn't help thinking she should be his ex-girlfriend instead. He couldn't help but look at the goddess before him and wonder if she would be the one he could open up to.
Gin Ichimaru stood silently, waiting for her to hang up her apron and grab the key to lock the door. He would never be able to explain why he was standing there, he would never be able to explain why she was so undisturbed by his silent form. He opened the door for her as she walked forward.
"So um… do you want to go out sometime?" It was the first real sentence he'd made "I'd… uh… I'd like to get to know you better."
