Hey, sorry for the wait, been busy. Here's the next chappie!
Whistle For the Choir belongs to the Fratellis and Twilight belongs to SM.
BTW, you're not going to know why B/E broke up, that's a mystery that gets solved in one of the climatic chapters. And trust me, you will not see it coming. Definitely not what you're expecting. Mwa ha ha… And NO, I'm NOT telling you who Melody belongs to. Have some patience. : )
Melly rocked back in forth, waiting for me to get back from the bathroom. In her hands was a portrait of Alice and I, lounging on the beach. She had on a stunning, old-fashioned swimsuit, and big black sunglasses, making her look like a movie star. My eyes, in both the picture and in real life, were on her.
"She looks so pretty," Mel said, tracing the picture with her finger. I stroked my angel's hair, sighing.
"You have no idea."
"LITTLE SIS! FLOPPY-HAIR!" Bella and I were scooped into a giant bear hug, courtesy of Emmett. I was quickly dropped, allowing Emmett to crush Bella even harder. She giggled, a superficial sound, but still pleasant to hear.
A pair of lean, strong arms wrapped around my shoulders, a curtain of blond hair mixing with my own. I turned to hug my other half, laughing.
"Rose!" I looked into the female version of my face, and for the first time in a week, I felt like everything would be alright.
"Hey, Jazz. Hey Bella." She left me to steal Bella from the clutches of her fiancé. I slapped Emmett on the back, and stage-whispered menacingly, "We still need to have the protective brother chat, Hulk. I'm watching you."
He backed away, feigning fright, and went to reclaim his sister. Rosalie had Bella crushed to her with such force that she was dangerously close to breaking the poor girl in half.
The four of us made our way into the house, sitting in our usual sitting arrangement, except this time Emmett and Rosalie were cuddled up together on the loveseat. I leaned against Bella's bony knees as she curled up in the armchair, playing with the laces on her shoes. It was times like these that made me feel like I was back in high school, my biggest worry being if Rose would be Homecoming Queen, or if Bella would get hurt in Gym.
We talked and joked like the good old days, until we were interrupted by the ringing of my phone. The caller ID flashed ALICE. I flipped it open to read:
hey wanna go get some coffee the diner?
I looked at Bella, who had been reading over my shoulder. She smiled, nodding. My heart filled with joy as I typed:
of course. meet five?
Rosalie and Emmett started whispering, no doubt saying things too explicit for the delicate ears of Bella and I. I turned to Bella and whispered, "Will you be okay while I'm gone?"
She nodded, and said, "I'll be fine. I need some good bonding time with Em and Rose. And you need some good bonding time with our little pixie friend."
My phone rang again, reading:
sounds good. cya
I stood up, announcing my departure to the couple on the couch. I bent down and whispered to Bella, "I'll be back before it gets dark."
She smiled, her first genuine smile in an eternity, and softly said, "You always are."
I pulled up to the diner in Bella's rusty old truck, ten minutes late. Damn truck was so slow.
A man on a mission, I raced into the building, getting drenched in the rain that was falling down in buckets. I shook out my hair, and looked around the diner for a head of spiky black hair.
Suddenly, a petite figure jumped off of her stool, walking over to me. I did a double take.
Alice looked exquisite. Her short hair was almost to her shoulders now, her large, hazel eyes were rimmed in a sparkly eye shadow. She had on a flowy, black skirt and white blouse, contrasting beautifully with her porcelain skin.
"You've kept me waiting a long time," she said, a flirtatious hint in her voice. I chuckled.
"Sorry, ma'am." I laid on a thick Texan accent, cheesy and dorky. She giggled, a musical sound, so genuine and care-free. It made me forget everything that had happened in the past week. All the drama, the heartache, the worry…gone.
We slid into a booth, chatting heartily. She updated me on her life, talking about the internship she had with a famous designer in LA, all the friends she made at school, her cute Economics professor (probably trying to make me jealous).
Then, we approached the subject. She sighed, and asked, cautiously, "How's Bella doing?"
I looked down, and said, "Not that good. But she's improving. It's just been a little hard for her to adjust…"
Alice looked like she wanted to cry. "Edward hasn't been much better. He just locks himself in his room, blasting music. I haven't had a real conversation with my brother since he showed up on my doorstep."
I placed my hand on hers, rubbing the back of it with my thumb. She smiled grimly, then looked out of the window. I took a sip of my coffee, the walked over to the juke-box. I slipped in a quarter, then selected a song.
It started playing, and I pulled Alice up, twirling her. She giggled, like tinkling bells, and grabbed my hand in one of hers, wrapping the other around my neck. I placed my free hand gently on her waist, and we started to sway to the music.
"Well it's a big big city and it's always the same. Can never be too pretty tell me you your name. Is it out of line if I were so bold to say 'Would you be mine'?"
I gave her a twirl, drawing the attention of the entire diner, but she didn't care. She laughed, spinning into my chest. We assumed our original positions, stepping side to side to the beat.
"So if you're crazy, I don't care you amaze me. Oh, you're a stupid girl, oh me, oh my. You talk, I die. You smile, you laugh, I cry."
Other couples got up to join us, twirling and dancing and laughing. Alice looked like a Queen, swirling among her court. Her eyes sparkled with happiness, and cheeks red from dancing. I pulled her closer, spinning in a circle.
The song ended, and the diner started applauding us. I bowed and Alice curtsied, then I was dragged outside by the over-excited pixie.
"Look!" A rainbow had formed across the sky, spreading from cloud to cloud. The light from the rare bit of sun shone down proudly, causing everything covered in raindrops to sparkle. I smiled.
"It's beautiful." I said, and she boldly took my hand, squeezing it.
"It sure is."
"Awww…" Melody cooed, bouncing up and down. "That's so romantic!"
I chuckled, patting her head. She calmed down a little, but fidgeted, waiting for the rest of my story.
"I'm glad you think so. But that happy-romantic feeling wasn't there to stay…"
YAY! ANOTHER CHAPTER! W00T!
R&R PLEEZ!
