Windrose
Mother's Day.
The day was like any other.
She dragged herself out bed with a groan as made her way out of the teeny tiny bedroom to the only slightly bigger kitchen. The scene was like any other, her eldest daughter was once again trying to teach herself to cook. The bacon was burnt black and the eggs were somehow bubbling profusely, like they were about to take on a life of their own. Her other three children were fighting; climbing on the table and yowling like a trio of possessed cats. She could see they had attempted to set the table, but judging by the scatter dishes there had been some disagreements on who got which colored cup. The cat and wolf were curled up together watching the fiasco from a safe distance.
"Good morning," Yan-Yu said. The room froze as four beaming faces looked up at her.
"Morning, Mom!" Each voice chimed. "Happy mothers day!"
Tai dumped what had once been food in the waste and handed the huntress a small package and envelope.
"Look! A letter from Feng and Melu! She had a baby girl! I knew it! I called it, didn't I? Those goggly eyes he was making at her… I mean, it's kinda a given now, after he went chasing after her, but now-" she held a picture, presumably one amongst many from the package, next to her cheshire grin. "Now there's pudgy little baby proof! Look at her! Lookit!"
Yan-Yu chuckled and took the picture. In truth she had no doubt of her son's feelings toward Melu. She had been uncertain on whether or not he should act on them during her captivity in Stormwind, but it looked like everything worked out for the best.
"Oh dear, someone needs to tell your brother to shave," Yan-Yu tutted at the sight of Feng's scruff. He and Melu were smiling happily down at a small girl, no older than three and she looked just like her father. Even with ice-cream all over her face, from chin to forehead.
She smiled, warmth spreading through her at the sight of her children and now the newest addition. Yes, the day was just like any other day and also better. Better than she could have asked. She wouldn't have it any other way.
