So this is the reason I haven't been updating this story, I didn't feel like I knew where I was yet in writing. I found myself making many mistakes, and my imagery was repetitive. But after, what has it been, a year? I have finally found where I am at a writing stand point. I have many organized stories ready to make and am eagerly ready to start writing again.
This chapter is dedicated to my best friend S96Nova. You're my inspiration.
Chapter 7
The fire seemed to warm up the entire penthouse, casting the entire living room in a warm golden glow. Yugi watched the flames flicker and lick at the burning wood, noticing how the fire represented his burning thoughts. Why did he except the offer of staying here? Was Atemu the kind of man to just save someone for the promise of sex later?
Yugi was indeed grateful for everything Atemu did for him and the extents he went to just get him out of Rujios custody, but what did Atemu have to gain from it? Gain from rescuing him?
Yugi wrapped the blanket he wore more securely around him, his doubtful and confusing thoughts making his brain hurt.
"Are you alright Yugi?"
Yugis eyes glanced up to see Atemu handing him a mug that seemed to have some kind of hot beverage in it and a concerned look on his face. Yugi quickly nodded, looking more suspicious than he intended to be, and took the mug with gratitude. "Thank you, and yes I'm alright. It's just that a lot has happened in one day."
Atemu could relate to that as he sat down beside him, hearing the crackling of the wood from the fireplace. He took a sip of the steaming coffee and sighed after, feeling his throat warm up from the drink. He simply made Yugi tea since he didn't know what his preferences were. "I understand. I never knew someone as cruel as Rujio could exist to be honest with you."
Yugi let a small smile pass his lips and he looked back at him. "That's true, but he's still a human being. So I can't really hate him. I have never hated anyone in my life."
Atemu smiled at this and he let his mug rest lazily on his leg. "You're very forgiving, aren't you?"
Yugi smiled even more and it almost turned into a laugh, but something held him back from doing it. His brow then furrowed and he looked at Atemu in confusion. "How exactly did you get my custody papers and birth certificate?"
Atemu shrugged and rose the warm mug to his lips. "I know people." He took an innocent sip from the sugared coffee.
Yugi looked at the tea in his own hands and slowly took his own cautious sip, his eyes brightening as he took another one. It was good. Really good.
Atemu smiled at seeing that adorable face light up in bliss. "It's different making tea for other people. Usually I don't have anyone over."
Yugi opened his eyes in the middle of a long gulp and then looked at him. "Why's that?"
Atemu shrugged nonchalantly, like he's talked about this subject before. "Because I don't have the time. Being a CEO takes up most of your time. The only one who has been here most is Mana, and she just let's herself in with or without my permission."
Yugi cocked his head to the side. "Mana?"
"Childhood friend."
"Oh."
It was silence between them for a moment, both of them thinking on how to continue the conversation. Yugi wondered if Atemu got lonely. He himself didn't exactly show any signs of knowing a lot of people, but even he had Mai and other people to spend time with.
A sudden mewing caught Yugis attention and he looked down at his feet were the small sound came from, a small ball of fur with wide eyes staring up at him in curiosity and wonder. Atemu laughed a little. "I wouldn't say I'm completely alone though, right Anu?"
The feline meowed and rubbed against Yugis leg. Yugi stared down at her and then smiled. "I would have never taken you as a cat person." He picked up the small kitten and stroked behind her ears, Anu purring in bliss at the soft fingers scratching at her fur. "But then again, it's also kind of sweet."
Atemu smiled at the noticeable blush Yugi had on his cheeks at catching himself on his words, looking at the kitten nudging her small muzzle against Yugis palm for more pampering. "I love all kinds of animals. Especially the cute ones."
Yugi smiled and he began to forget all about the unfortunate events that had happened that night and about the doubt he had for Atemus honesty. Instead it was filled with these small and short tender moments. Atemus smile, the warm tea filling his belly, the small cat begging for attention, and the flames of the fire slowly dimming down.
It was later in the evening where Yugi was getting comfortable on the couch and trying for the life of him to get some sleep. The couch was large so it wasn't about having enough room, it was more about the millions of questions scrambling through Yugis head. Would Atemu still let him dance and get money for himself? Would he not let him leave without his permission? Would he be controlling and make him do horrible things like Rujio did? That thought was quickly discarded. Atemu would never do something like that.
Yugi had to admit that when he first met Atemu, it wasn't very glamorous since he just gave him a lap dance and thought of it only as a job. But Yugi couldn't forget the smouldering look in Atemus eyes. It was pretty clear that night and whenever he came back that he simply wanted him out of desire but now, was it something more? If it was just out of lust, than why bother helping him?
Yugi groaned at the questions that wouldn't leave him the hell alone and he turned on his side, seeing the wood in the fire slowly crumble to ash.
Atemu stared up at his ceiling as he sighed for the 168th time that hour, not being able to close his eyes and just simply rest. Was this a bad idea to take Yugi in?
At first it seemed like the thing to do to gain Yugis affection and make him desire him in the same way, but maybe that was selfish of him to do. Now he might have to go to court to get custody over this exotic dancer. No one should live in the conditions that poor Yugi was living in, but did that make him any better? He just took Yugi in to get to know him better and that was it.
He looked at his clock on the side table and read the digital numbers, 11:55 pm. He sighed for the 169th time that hour and turned on his side, looking at Anu who curled up on the pillow beside him. But instead of seeing Anu there, he pictured Yugi there instead.
Dark lashes against pale skin, breath coming out slowly and peacefully, hands curled up by his head, and that little golden lock that was lead astray by the other blonde bangs falling gently over his face.
Atemu smiled a little at this and he wished that the image he just pictured would be true
one day. Maybe that was why he took Yugi in. To get to know him better. He wasn't one
to just meet someone, have a single conversation, have sex, than fight for three months
because the relationship isn't going well. He wants to get to know the, get to know their
quirks, and their likes and dislikes.
Atemu smiled as he figured out that that was what he was going to do. Get to know Yugi
more. He smiled and then let his eyes close for the night, knowing that his brain was now
resting once he came up with a decision. At least someone in that penthouse had their
thoughts organized.
