Chapter 7

Broken Puppet

Within a toy house of sorts, suitable to one who'd be considered insane having giant jack-in-a-boxes, presents, and other oversized toys, was Jackle sitting all alone on a pile of present boxes. With eyes full of anger and sharp cards being darted into a photo of Reala pinned to a wall, the crazy Jester fumed about a subject of particular interest.

"Why did Reala have to steal all the fun!? Why don't I get to play with the 'special' visitor!?"

Growling outwardly, the jester threw his cards all about, sticking to the walls in the room while almost hitting a familiar face.

"What do you think you're doing Jackle!? Are you trying to kill me!?" A voice he hadn't heard in awhile

Jackle turned his gaze toward Nights. "Well, if you are here to ruin my fun as well like you always do, then yes...!" Then his eyes finally took notice to something that was out of place, actually two things.

His teethy grin formed as he carefully examined his good ol brother. "So, you've decided to come back to us NiGHTS? The new look suits you."

Nights looked down at his outfit which rather than having bright colors of purple, pink, white, and red, bared much darker shades. He also wore the golden persona mask that signified loyalty to the Wizeman. Fixing his view back on Jackle, he glided towards the grinning Nightmaren.

"Why, thank you Jackle. Now, if I heard you correctly, you were complaining about Reala stealing your 'fun' from you?...as in Xion?"

"Yeah, and then stupid Reala had to step in and steal him from me!"

"Is that so...?"

Jackle gestured the act of crossing his arms with his floating hands. "Yeah..." He said moodily.

Nights frowned at the other. "You do know Xion was mine first. Actually, I also got to be his first."

"Then...what are you doing here?" Jackle tilted his head at the other, confused. If he got to be his first, then wouldn't he be spending time with him...but then it struck him "Ohhh, so Reala scared you off too did he?"

The once purple jester simply smirked. "He really adores Xion. Maybe a little more than I thought..."

Jackle smirked too, feeling he could tell exactly what Nights was thinking. "Just imagine his face if we decided to break his little dolly."

"Oh...I can see his face already. He should report to Wizeman, so I'm sure Xion wouldn't mind if we paid him a visit." Nights licked his lips at the dirty images in his mind of his dearest angel.

Both Nightmaren began to chuckle, soon transforming into a laughter of pure malice and evil of what was to come.

-Outer edges of Nightmare-

Bizarre, brightly colored vegetation, and monstrous Nightmaren, all claimed the dark land before Nyanda Strongman. Tetsuya cracked his neck and knuckles as he exhaled, all the while observing the terrain to make a path which he'd dash down.

"Xion, Hold on. I'll be there soon." The nyandanian then charged forward down the most open path he found, his feet letting him travel at such a remarkable speed. Though, it wasn't long before Nightmaren had already blocked his path a long ways down, and not intentionally either.

"GET OUT OF MY WAY~!" Tetsuya shouted out, knowing they'd rather try to do their job attack him. Though, he had no time for slowdowns, he had to save Xion before the unthinkable happens. Preparing his fists, he was ready to smash anything in his way and hopefully slip by without losing sped.

The Nightmaren stood their ground as he came in very close, he winded up his punch for the monster directly in front of him and upon striking...missed.

"HUH!?"

Nyanda Strongman turned his head to look behind at whatever might have happened to the Nightmaren he tried to strike as his legs still carried him with speed. He would have thought himself crazy seeing the enemies get knocked about if he wasn't a trained fighter.

"Who...is that?" Tetsuya muttered as his eyes struggled to keep up with the fast, blue spinning ball shooting about like a pinball between the enemies before suddenly dashing ahead of him...at what seemed the speed of sound.

As he turned his head back to the dark, open road ahead of him, before him running backwards at the same speed was a blue hedgehog. "W-what the!? Who-"

The blue hedgehog pointed at himself as he interrupted him to answer questions faster than Tetsuya could think of them. "Sonic the Hedgehog! Fastest thing in the world, Savior of Earth!"

-Reala's Dimension-

"Xion my dearest, is something bothering you?" Reala asked, his lips rubbing gently against Xion's ear, caressing his long, beautiful silver hair.

The angelic visitor turned in the Nightmaren's lap, looking him straight in the eyes, clearly worried about something. "Nights...That couldn't have been Nights, Reala. He'd never do such a thing."

Gazing back into Xion's eyes, he frowned at the mention of his Brother. Naturally, he would have rolled his eyes, but he would not dare ridicule his treasured visitor such a way. "And what of it..?"

Xion continued. "I didn't sense any evil in his heart, I only sensed joy and kindness when we first met. Something must have happened to him when he came here maybe, just like how I can't use my powers." The visitor was sure of it, that had to be it, surely that's why Nights was afraid to tell him anything before he hurt him.

"And what about me?" Reala asked, taking a hold of Xion's chin and closing the distances between their faces.

"Wh-what?" Suddenly, fear stabbed the angel's heart, hoping he couldn't possibly mean what he saw in him.

Reala knew this though, he knew Xion most likely sensed...the opposite to his brother. "What did you sense in me when we first met?"

Like with exhaustion making gravity's pull seem stronger, Xion's heart dropped faster than he could process. "I...-" He thought back to that moment they met...he was almost attracted to the air around Reala...or no, it seduced him, made him submit.

Gulping before he spoke, the angel continued. "Power...I felt power, order, and..." He could feel the Nightmaren's blue gem eyes melting into him, ensnaring him like a cobra, placing a spell on him.

"And...?" Reala's hands stroked the visitor's back softly, dark traces of energy leaving his finger tips and entering the young man's body. He could feel his body entering heat, becoming more sensitive to his touch, and each breath he took becoming hot and moist against his face.

The Angel's eyes glazed over with lust. His nipples stiffened, his cock hardened, his body becoming limp in the other's grasp. "A...ahhh~" He gasped as his partner's finger traveled to his gateway, rubbing it gently before pushing inside. 'and...he's so lonely...even without my power now...I can feel the loneliness in his heart...'

Before Xion knew it, the distance between their lips had closed and was engaged in a hot make-out session with Reala. His body twitched with ecstasy as the digit inside him rubbed at his sweet spot, making him moan into the kiss greedily. And without realization, their bodies engaged in the forbidden dance once again with a volcano of white fluids shooting about.

It felt like forever for both, but it was only a moments time before Reala kissed Xion's head gently and began to float away from the passed out dreamer. "I must part for now my dear Xion. I cannot keep Wizeman waiting."

Turning to glide through a dark portal he created, doubt struck him hard stopping him in his tracks. He turned back to the angel, fearing for him. 'Should I bring him along?' He shook his head.

'If I take Xion, who knows what Wizeman will do. With other children, he'd give them an eternal nightmare after stealing their ideya...but what about Xion?'

He continued through the portal to the other side, approaching his master in his realm of darkness. 'I can't risk it...He acts immediately when the dreamer arrives. I must let him know how I feel about Xion.' Little did Reala know that two uninvited guest had entered his realm.

-Wizeman's Realm-

Wizeman the Wicked at first seemed far off, but he only disappeared and reappeared before Reala, grand in size as he was. "Reala, I hope you return with news of the visitor? Where is he?"

Reala had been to Wizeman's realm so many times. He'd pretty much call it his second home. Though, it wasn't so "homey" being that the only describable thing in the center of this world, was the white pillars with floating red curtains that surrounded a small mountain with blue flame torches at the top. Everything else all around were dark, rocky spires warped in the black and blue space dimension that consumed the realm.

"My lord..." He bowed down on one knee before Wizeman and reported his success. "I have captured the visitor, though I've left him in my realm."

One of the large Nightmare king's hands went to his chin in thought. "And why is that?"

Taking a deep breath, Reala looked up to his lord and explained. "The visitor. I want...no. I've fallen for him and I want no harm to come to him."

Wizeman silently observed Reala. It almost felt to the Nightmaren that his lord was gazing right into his soul, seeing his deepest desires...and then he broke the silence.

"For some time now, you've been curious of the waking world, as have I. What if I told you, that boy can help us traverse to his world?"

"Xion? He is truly capable of such?" The dark nightmaren let his thoughts ponder on the idea of how they might actually perform such a feat. Could nightmaren truly exist in the waking world?

"He has the last two remaining ideya, and with his power and unconscious state, we can create a gateway between this world and the waking world. His power to twist the reality of his dreams will allow me to bend the reality of his world." With one of his palms, he revealed three orbs of ideya. The blue ideya of intelligence, the green ideya of growth, and the yellow ideya of hope.

Reala knew curiosity wasn't at all the reason Wizeman was interested in the waking world. Just surely he couldn't be thinking of conquering Nightopia through such a drastic method.

"My lord, wouldn't it be simpler to conquer Nightopia through just using the power of each ideya?" Doubt was still at the back of Reala's mind. Something was telling him not to leave Xion behind, but Wizeman still was just as dangerous a threat to his precious dreamer.

His creator chuckled darkly as he used his power to create a holographic form of Earth. "Conquer Nightopia? Reala, do you not see the greater prize we can claim?"

-Back in Reala's realm before conversation with Wizeman-

Xion stirred in his unconsciousness to hear the sound of footsteps approaching him. His eyelids, or actually most of his body felt heavy. It was quite odd being that he was in a dream world but such a world seemed too real that he felt he was apart of it. He could hear someone call out his name, but it was ever so faint as if muffled by water.

"Umm...so this is your friend?" Sonic tilted his head nervously at the white substance all over his body, some dry and some new. He could easily guess what he was doing, especially with the same substance between his closed legs. Thoughts of his lover, Shadow came to mind for a second flaring up the blue blur's cheeks with blush. "He looks like he enjoyed himself just recently" he joked.

Tetsuya sighed and scratched the back of his head. "Yes, I...um...Xion was kidnapped and taken here I guess, but something's definitely not right though. The one who kidnapped him certainly had ill intentions. So it's a relief not to see him in a worse condition. But something's strange."

Sonic looked over to Nyanda Strongman confused. "What?" Everything was already strange in this world to the hedgehog, but it wasn't like he's been in a situation much different.

The Nyandanian hesitated to speak and placed his hand on Xion's chest. "His power...It's like it doesn't even exist. I thought he could have easily saved himself, but when I felt his power vanish, I knew something was up. What could have possibly happened here?"

"Hey, let's cut the chit chat and sonic speed our way out of here. We have enough of those, um, Nightparents to worry about."

"It's nightmarens, and yes, I agree. Let us make haste!" He lifted Xion into his arms and with Sonic, took off as fast as he could. The hedgehog limited his full speed to stay by Tetsuya while the escaped, and luckily they had done so in the nick of time.

Nights and Jackle had entered through a portal into Reala's dimension, giggling between one another about their plan.

"Alright, where's the little twerp!?" The orange dressed nightmaren's eyes creepily gazed about the world looking for Xion. The throne was empty, and so was the rest of the place.

The one good nightmaren chuckled innocently. "Oh Xion~, come out will you? It's okay. We aren't going to...hurt you." Nights flew around the back of the throne seeing as there was no one there, and nor was he anywhere.

"Where is the brat!? I wanna play!" Jackle whined as his hands hammered about angrily.

"WHO IN NIGHTMARE WELCOMED YOU HERE!?" Growled an angry sibling of them both.

Nights gasped and turned around shocked by the sudden return of Reala. "R-Reala!? W-weren't you reporting to Wizeman?"

Reala hissed at Nights' behavior, "What well would I be doing!? He requested me to bring Xion to-...Where is Xion...?"

"Well THAT'S what I'd like to know, REALA!" Shouted his annoyed brother, Jackle.

"So you can lay your filthy claw on Xion? Do you not know your rank, Jackle?" Just as before, he stared down Jackle with the same menacing glare that struck fear into him before...though, he wasn't backing down this time.

Nights levitated by Jackle with a dark ball of energy in his hand. "Oh, he knows his rank, and I think it's time that we both had a promotion." The dark turned jester chuckled confidently. Jackle followed suite and drew multiple cards into his hand with his magic.

Reala crossed his arms and smirked. "Hmph, so you want to play a little game do you? Very well then...Let's play..."

-Dreamgate-

Out from the Dark Ocean below the dream gate world vaulted out Sonic, and Tetsuya carrying Xion in his arms. Having leaped incredibly high to reach the floating land mass of nature and doorways to nightopia upon it, the three were able to land nearby the fountain at the center of the white doors.

"Xion!" Nyanda strongman had laid the angelic dream down on the grass nearby, shaking his shoulder gently.

"I think he's waking up!" Sonic kneeled down getting a closer look at the other on the ground to ensure he was correct.

"Mn...Where...?" Xion's eyes clenched slightly before his eyelids lifted, his green orbs studying the blurred faces in front of his own becoming clearer with each second.

Tetsuya smiled gently, glad to see the angel awake. "Xion, it's me, Nyanda Strongman. From the circus remember?" He carefully reached down to the dreamer's face, his hand stroked his cheek gently with the back of his hand.

"Nyanda Strongman?" Finally, Xion's sight had cleared up and he realized it really was him. He could remember how the other had overpowered him so simply with strength beyond his own. How he had defeated him in an arm wrestle just like that.

"As they say, all's well that ends well." Sonic chuckled beginning to smile goofily as he chuckled without a care in the world.

To the side of Nyanda Strongman was a familiar blue hedgehog. No, a famous blue hedgehog. "Sonic the Hedgehog!? No way! The one and only blue blur!?" Xion quickly sat up almost having bumped heads with the two of them, his mouth and eyes wide open at his discovery.

The blue blur pointed his thumb at himself proudly "That's right! The one and only!" He held his hand out to Xion. "It's nice to meet you, Xion!"

The dreamer looked down at Sonic's white gloved hand and back up at the green eyed hedgehog. This had to be a dream, and it was, but it was a real dream too. He was going to shake Sonic's hand, no, even great, he was going to have the chance to talk to Sonic the hedgehog himself in the flesh.

"This is the greatest honor ever...Sonic..." Taking hold of Sonic's hand and shaking it, Xion still couldn't believe he was really meeting Sonic. However, the hooting a familiar friend broke his fan moment.

"HOO! Xion! You've returned!" Owl, worried to the point his feathers were ruffled, flew to the group. "What in nightopia happened! You two were gone for so long, you had me worried sick and-"

His eyes searched around for the second person in mind only seeing a Nyandanian and a blue hedgehog. "Where's Nights? And Hoo are you two!?"

-Back in Reala's dimension-

The nightmaren stood away from one another, each out of breath and covered in bruises and cut. They almost couldn't even remember they were fighting over Xion and for what reason they were.

Reala regained his posture and glared at Nights and Jackle. "I'm done with the two of you. I'll find Xion myself...where ever you hid him."

Nights rolled his eyes at his brother as he crossed his arms. "Pfft, more like you hid him from yourself..."

"That is enough!" A voice feared by all of Nightopia and Nightmare bellowed from the unknown. A towering shadowy figured formed by the three jesters before revealing himself as Wizeman the Wicked.

The three jesters immediately bowed before their creator terrified at his sudden appearance. For what reason did he appear to them, even while they were fighting? He never got in the way of their fights and let them solve things between one another usually.

"Xion has escaped Nightmare." The nightmaren lifted their heads, gazing up to their master confused, shocked. How could such a feat be possible for someone without power?

Wizeman continued. "Though it seemed at first he left nightmare on his own, there must have been an intruder or two able to enter nightmare undetected..." He chuckled, not minding that he had escaped which of course brought confusion to his children. "Do not pursue him. He will come back of his own will and with much power."

Reala felt he understood wizeman's plan, but he didn't understand why he'd have so much confidence that Xion would return. He wasn't sure if the dreamer had loved him, if he had been truly seduced by him...or if he even cared at all. He'd probably come back to his senses and forget all about him.

The silver headed ruler looked to Nights, seeing as he was once again loyal to his creator. "Nights, it is good to see you have come to your senses finally. You are right now the greatest asset in capturing the dreamer."

Reala snapped his sight over to his dear brother hatefully, whom in return smirked at him already priding himself as the better nightmaren. How could his good for nothing brother possibly be of any use...this would not go unquestioned.

"My lord!" Reala stood up straight, angry over such a plan that involved Nights. "Why would 'that' fool be of any use. He hurt and made 'my' Xion avoid him like any normal dreamer would avoid a nightmaren."

Wizeman slowly turned his attention back to his highest ranking nightmaren, almost as if he seemed uncaring of the other any longer, as if he had lost his use. "Your 'brother' had already once befriended and captured the heart of Xion. Having been most likely his first friend in Nightopia like any other dreamer, he's most likely going to try and come back for him regardless of what he did."

The darker nightmaren couldn't believe what he was hearing. The way he spoke to him as if lecturing a child rather than a close friend, and most of all putting Nights above him!? He should be thanking him for having brought his brother back to their side! How could the great Wizeman the Wicked not have known this already.

"But my lord...It was 'I' who brought my dear...'brother' back to his senses." Reala had to try hard not to speak with daggers in his voice, while staying quiet about the fact that he did such to Nights.

If his creator could had lips, he would have been smirking. He moved himself closer to the nightmaren he no longer cared for. "And I thank you for that." He replied unsympathetically, keeping his voice low from Nights and Jackle.

"Well, he won't be much use considering that he doesn't seem to want to pull his little act again..." Reala was becoming irritated. This wasn't how things were supposed to turn out.

"Which is why I will take over from here, Reala." His creator's voice suddenly sounded dark and threatening, something he'd never done to him. "If you interfere with our plans and bring Xion here on your own agenda, I cannot guarantee that no harm will come to him...do you...understand."

Not once had his creator, his lord, his ruler, his father, looked down upon him. Not once had he ever threatened him...he was his perfect soldier, his perfect nightmaren, his perfect son. The instant he found a toy that was at first his favorite and became lost, nostalgia blinded him and caused him to push away the one toy that had finally found the end of its days of being played with. The nightmaren slowly levitated to his throne and sat there, devoid of emotion. Once a toy is replaced, the only things it receives are neglect, dust, and decay.

The broken puppet watched in silence as his puppeteer began to place and manipulate the strings on his 'new' favorite puppet. He thought to himself, laughing at his own stupidity. A puppet manipulating a puppet? As if...A puppeteer could only manipulate a puppet and while being used out of self-satisfaction and entertainment, the puppet wasn't lonely.

Then his thoughts wandered to Xion. Was Xion his puppet, or was it himself whom had his strings manipulated by Xion...his heart strings. He most definitely disappointed his dearest Xion...he tried to manipulate his own strings thinking it was he was in control...but in the end, he was blinded by poisonous words pulling him from the word manipulative word. How Reala wished the blue fairy or the fairy god mother would make him special, transform him from a puppet to something that had a will of its own.

The broken puppet watched in silence as his puppeteer left him behind to catch dust in his lonesome room. To let the paint on his wood fade and his metal joints rust. The world would forget about him and move on as he'd watch from a shelf in an old attic never to be seen again. The only thing he would be able to do is sit there uselessly remembering the boy whom came by the shop to play with him not because he enjoyed watching him dance, but connected with him in a way no one else could understand...his bright smile making the puppet look more colorful than he really did.

The broken puppet watched in silence from its seat. Its eyes staring into to the endless black and red tiles of its lonesome, home dimension.
