Hello my beautiful fans.(PLEASE READ-WARNING UP AHEAD.) Let me take a moment to warn you, if you are squeamish, or are bothered by blood and or injury situations, I may suggest skipping through this first section of the chapter until you see the three bold periods. On that note, in my story if you haven't already noticed; three consecutive bold periods can mean anything from a time lapse, a scene change, or even a POV (Point of View) change. In most cases, more than one. Usually I will make it fairly easy to tell if the POV is changed because of how I introduce the character into a scene. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask me in a review or a PM if you feel the need to do it more privately. Thank you, and without further ado; this is Chapter 7: You Have A Visitor.
The smell of overly-sanitized medical equipment invaded my nostrils, along with an intense brightness that somewhat blinded me; Courtesy of the hanging surgery-table light that swayed gently above my head. Above all of these senses was an unbearable pain coursing through the entirety of my leg as doctors relentlessly dug into my flesh with long metal tongs in an attempt to the extract the metal cylindrical capsule from the depths of my thigh.
Directly before being rushed into the emergency room, I assured the doctors and medical staff that I did not want, or need the assistance of a pain killer, and now I'm beginning to realize the errors in my decision. Unfortunately, my fear of needles injecting fluid into my open wounds wasn't as intense as the pain I was enduring.
Above all of these stimuli, I still felt myself worrying to no bounds for Violet, my partner, who was being operated on in the room next to me. From how the Pokemon Centre staff working in the ER reacted to her injury, I could only assume that it was slightly more severe than my own. After her first examination in the ambulance on our way here, I managed to catch a nurse shout something about her appendix being damaged from the bullet, and how it needed to be removed amongst the loud chatter of panicking doctors even in my state of near unconsciousness.
"Okay.. I've managed to get get a hold on the bullet; you may feel some slightly more severe pain for a moment while we pull it out." One of the surgeons interrupted my train of thought.
I nodded. "Just get this thing out, and close up the wound quickly. I'm kinda having second thoughts about denying the anesthesia, so pull it out as fast as you can." I took a large, deep breath in preparation for the screaming pain that was about to surge through my leg.
As soon as I had expected, I felt the unsettling pain of the copper intruder being slowly pulled from my body. Two nurses had to rush to my bedside in order to restrain me from thrashing my arms about so I wouldn't accidentally strike the surgeon as he worked. A disgruntled scream made it's it's way from my lungs and filled the room as the last remnants of the bullet was pulled through the opening in my skin, followed by a profusely flowing stream of red essence.
Within mere seconds, I began to feel my consciousness slip away from me due to the excessive pain I was enduring, and the sheer amount of blood I had lost. Everything slowed down; my vision darkened, and the pain began to dull. Before I had a moment of time to comprehend the situation, I was overcome by blackness.
. . .
What seemed like mere moments later, I awoke in another hospital room that didn't smell like I was being prepped for surgery. I immediately noticed the weight of another being pressed against my side, and waited for my eyes to adjust before glancing down at a soundly sleeping Zoroark that I was lucky to call my partner.
I was filled with relief knowing that she was well, and her recovery had presumably gone fine. I mean, she was physical evidence.
Regardless, I happily wrapped my arms around her and locked by fingers behind her back before pulling her closer to me. The way her luxurious fur felt against me was almost euphoric; I didn't even notice when she quietly stirred after feeling my conscious form moving against her. I was thoroughly surprised when I was bombarded by relentless yet gentle kisses against the side of my face, making me aware that Violet was indeed no longer asleep.
"Good Morning beautiful." I greeted her lovingly. Her incessant kissing came to a screaming halt, and she instantly rolled over so that she was resting completely on my body before looking me straight in the eyes with a look that miraculously portrayed both relief and concern. If that makes any sense.
"Good Afternoon, more like! You had me worried sick; sleeping for thirty consecutive hours after going unconscious in the middle of your surgery!" She nearly shouted back in a somewhat sarcastic tone.
"Thirty hours?! You have to be kidding; there's absolutely no way!" I bellowed upon learning of my unbelievable feat. For several moments after replying, I stared off into space-contemplating what I was just told, before I remembered that I was not the only one who had been shot.
"Dear Arceus, how could I not ask. Violet, you were injured too, and from what I had heard it was more serious than my own wound. Are you okay? You're not in pain, are you?" I blurted out, now concerned for the well being of my love.
Upon hearing my panic, a large smile was drawn across Violet's muzzle. "Robin, don't worry, I'm fine. We Pokemon are much more resilient than you silly humans. I would be embarrassed if a mere bullet wound would be the end of me."
I raised my brow in confusion. "A mere bullet wound? We had to be rushed into immediate surgery and you're treating it like something so mild? Forgive me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't being shot in the appendix be a somewhat serious matter?"
"Well, I suppose by your standards, yes. But you forget that there are incredibly remarkable methods for healing Pokemon in minutes. for example, after I was rushed into surgery, my appendix was removed, and I was sewn up before being healed in the standard way. I had fully recovered within about an hour of arriving here." Violet reported without losing an ounce of her sarcastic tone.
"Huh; technology really is remarkable... Wait, what did you do the entire time after you were healed? I mean, it's been like an entire day, after all." I asked inquisitively.
"Well, I had doctors lead me to your room and I stayed here in bed with you making sure you were okay." Violet informed me with a cute smile.
Before responding, I surprised Violet by pressing my lips against her own, locking her in a passionate kiss. She instantly melted into the romantic gesture, and began prodding her tongue against the barrier of my mouth, begging for permission to enter my own. I parted my lips, allowing her entry, and our tongues soon fought for dominance in a passionate display in our devotion towards each other; neither having a single care that we were in a public place.
After several minutes of exchanging our flavours, I broke away from the kiss, leaving a small trail of saliva connecting our tongues. I smiled before wrapping my arms around her back yet again, and planting a small peck on her nose.
"Thank you for staying with me that whole time I was asleep. I love you, Violet." I said softly before resting my chin directly in between her ears.
"Of course... I'll never leave your side, Robin. You mean more to me than anything, and I'll always love you..." She replied before sighing happily.
We sat quietly in each others embrace for an extended period of time, simply enjoying one another's company; that was until the sound of scrambled footsteps resounded from inside the hallway; it was getting progressively louder by the moment. We both turned our attention to the door, and before we had a moment to think, both my Mother and Aquari burst through into my room.
Somehow, the two had managed to pin both Violet and I to the bed in an incredibly powerful bear hug before we were even able to acknowledge their presence. They spat out clumps of jumbled and sped up words that I was only 50% sure we're actually even English. I finally interrupted after becoming tired of not being able to understand either of them.
"Mom, Aquari! Sound out your words, please!" I screamed amidst the chatter.
They both almost instantly settled down; Aquari was the first to collect herself enough to speak normally. "Sorry about that, but Jeez you two! You had to pick the one day that me and Mom had left early in the morning to go shopping for you both to be shot. We idled in that accursed waiting room for ours for you to wake up, you know?" The Floatzel teased.
"Yeah-yeah. Don't remind me; but sorry, I guess." I joked back before gently slugging her in the arm.
Before we could continue our reunion of sorts, all of our attention was turned to the door when a slightly balding doctor rushed into the room in a state of complete exhaustion; it was likely that he had tried to keep up with my Mother and Sister on their way to my room. To no avail of course.
He stood panting as he used his arm to support himself; trying to catch his breath. Small bits and pieces of words came out in-between his breaths, but nothing too audible. After several seconds of watching the man refill his lungs with oxygen, he finally found himself capable of speaking.
"Rah-Robin... Y-you have a... a visitor..." He finished with a wheeze.
Raising my brow, I released a small chuckle. "Uhhh, Doc? You're a bit late; I already know that my Mom and Sister are here." I responded sarcastically.
"Th-That's not who I me-meant..." He began. "The Cham-". The doctor attempted to finish until his sentence was cut short by the appearance of yet another man in the doorway.
Standing in the corner of the room directly next to the winded hospital employee was an all too familiar figure. He stood about six feet, 2 inches, and had shockingly long hair that rested at about the middle of his back; it was tied near his scalp with a thin band. The hair's pigment portrayed an incredibly light green, and to the uncaring uncaring eye, it could easily pass for blonde. He also wore a dull brown ball cap, which I imagined only made managing his hair even even more difficult. Finally, his face was cool and collected, yet simultaneously displayed both warmth and kindness. It took but moments for me to identify my new visitor, and if it were possible for me to become any happier at that very moment, my head just might have started counting down on a self destructive sequence.
The man smiled. "Robin... How are you?" He asked with a caring expression.
My face instantly lit up. "Well, for being shot only a day ago, and being marooned in a hospital, pretty good... Dad."
And there's chapter seven; I know it was a bit shorter than what you're normally used to, but this chapter was just a lead up to a REALLY BIG AND EXCITING AND ADORABLE CHAPTER REALLY SOON! Again, I am so sorry for taking as long as I have to update again, but I can only write so much with the amount of work I'm being exposed to. Bleh. But anyways, again, I'm going to try to start updating more frequently from this point forth, so please stay with me. Oh! And if I could have a moment to just thank everyone for reading this story, that would be great. After posting my last chapter before, my ratings skyrocketed, and I loved hearing all of your kind and supportive reviews. It really means the world to me! Well, I hoped you enjoyed this latest chapter. Don't forget to leave a review letting me know what you liked and what not. It really helps me to grow and improve. Again, Thank you all!
