Chapter 8

Rachel did let Santana lead her away from the party. They went back to Santana's empty apartment and cuddled until they fell asleep. Santana didn't really say too much the rest of the night or in the morning. Santana just gave Rachel a hug and kiss in the morning and sent her on her way.

"I think she's going to break up with me."

Quinn, who is sitting up on her bed reading a book, doesn't even look up as she tells Rachel to shut up.

"I'm serious." Rachel huffs when Quinn just continues to read.

Quinn looks up to see a pout on her best friends face. Putting her bookmark in, Quinn shuts her book and sits it next to her, giving Rachel her full attention.

Rachel moves to the end of her bed to be closer to Quinn once she sees that she has her best friend's full attention. "She's just been real quiet lately. And I don't know…just weird the last few days."Rachel flashes Rachel her phone. "She texted me earlier requesting we have dinner together tonight."

"Maybe she just needed a few days to herself. You know, get into the swing of this semester." Quinn tries to calm her friend worries.

"No. That was the first and only text I got from her today." Rachel shakes her head. "And it said that we needed to talk."

"Rachel," Quinn pats her knee. "I was just with you guys last night. She was attached to your hip. I'm sure you are just freaking out for nothing."

"She's going to break up with me because I'm not putting out." Rachel says thoughtfully.

"Probably."

Rachel throws her pillow at Quinn's head.

"Hey…I was just joking." Quinn launches the pillow back at Rachel.

"You're still a jerk."

Hours later, Rachel finds herself standing outside of Santana's apartment door. She's super nerves. Rachel doesn't know what she'll do if they break up. She's never liked someone as much as she likes Santana. Rachel stands there for another minute before sucking it up and knocking on the door.

Santana opens the door with a smile and pulls Rachel into her arms. Once they are inside, Santana shuts the door and leans Rachel back against it. They don't kiss or anything. Just stand there with their foreheads pushed together.

"You okay?" Santana question while slowly pulling away.

"Yes." Rachel grabs a fist full of Santana's shirt and pulls her back in. She rests her head on Santana's shoulder.

"What's up?"

"I don't want to break up." Rachel whispers.

"What?" Santana tries to pull away but Rachel holders her still.

"You've been weird since you came back?" Rachel doesn't give Santana a chance to respond before she continues. "Whatever it is we can work on it."

"What ar—"

Rachel cuts her off again. "You are important to me. This relationship is important to me. We can work on it. I don't want to break up."

Santana takes a step back but not out of Rachel's arms. She just wants to be able to look her in the face. "What are you going on about?"

"You said you wanted to talk. Everyone knows that's code for break up."

Santana lets out a light laugh. "No one is breaking up." Santana pecks Rachel on the nose before backing up and grabbing her hand. "Come on."

"Did you wanna talk about sex because I'm still not ready. I'm just now getting use to you seeing me naked."

Rachel allows Santana to pull her more into the apartment. It's that moment that she notices that they are not alone. Sitting on the loveseat with a smile playing across her lips, is an older version of Santana.

Rachel's face turns red. "Omg."

"She's too cute, San." Zoe stands.

"Rachel this is Zoe. My sister."

After Rachel gets herself together, the three of them actually sit down and have a nice meal together. Zoe is pleasant and actually gets on her little sister when Santana tease Rachel about her little break down by the door. The spend dinner talking about Zoe's job, Santana and Rachel schooling and every now and then Zoe asks Rachel questions about her family or just general questions to get to know her better.

Dinner is wrapping up when Santana asks Zoe about what she thinks about Rachel. "Short but gorgeous…" Zoe jumps in, proceeding to talk about Rachel as if she's not even there. "I look forward to getting to know you more Rachel." Zoe finishes up with a smile aimed at Rachel.

Rachel blushes under Zoë's gaze. "Me too." She whispers.

Santana tells Rachel to make herself at home while she walks Zoe out. Rachel watches them leave with a goofy grin on her face. She's just met Zoe. Santana is very protective about her sister. The fact that she let Rachel meet her is big. Now Rachel kind of has an idea why Santana has been acting weird. She was probably freaking out about this dinner.

Santana walks her sister out before coming back to cuddle on the couch with Rachel. They've been sitting the couch in silence for five minutes when Santana whispers that she's sorry into Rachel's ear. Santana giggles at the confused face Rachel is giving her.

Santana grabs the remote and mutes the TV. "I haven't been the greatest girlfriend." Rachel listens to Santana explain herself. "My emotions have been all over the place and I just…I don't know." Santana shakes her head. "I hate that I made you feel that way."

"It's okay." Rachel grabs Santana hands. "My feelings for you scare me too."

"Yeah?" Santana smiles, looking down shyly.

"Yeah." Rachel nods. "I'm pretty sure I'm in love with you."

Santana head snaps up. "Yeah?" She grins.

Rachel heart feels like it's ready to jump out of her chest. "Yeah." She breathes.

"Good." Santana pecks her nose. "I'm pretty sure I'm in love with you too."
