"Mister, have a heart."
Was that person trying poisoning me? I looked at the chocolate heart the person was holding out at me, then back the person. She was young, only about eight years old; with muddy brown locks and huge brown eyes. I looked around trying to pinpoint the girl's parents, but there wasn't one in sight. Tears started forming in her eyes, as her bottom lip quivered. To ensure she didn't start crying, I took the heart. She eagerly watched me, until I took a bit.
"Is it good?" she asked, with a huge smile. There was no trace of the tears. The bit of bitter, dark chocolate was still melting in my mouth, but I could tell it was homemade. After I nod my head, the girl ran off smiling. As soon as she was gone out of sight, I took another bit. Most children don't poison a complete stranger after all, and this wasn't even that dangerous of a place.
The mission I was on was low-key. Just hang around this guy and steal a bit of data. The data isn't that important, or they would send a more experience spy or at least another spy with me. Plus I am in America, so what are the chances that she was a trained spy.
I quickly finished my heart and continue on my way. As I started reaching the point where I agreed to meet my target, I started getting dizzy. The world started tilling. There was a tugged on my arm again, and I looked half expecting the girl again. Instead through, it was an older teenage girl.
"Hello, can you help me?" she said. I frowned, not really trusting her. After all, teens can be dangerous. Just look at Alex.
"With what?" I asked. She pointed down an alleyway.
"My boyfriend fell off the fire escape, and is hurt."
My frown deepens, as I study the dark, abandon alleyway. I could see someone on the ground. Still through, it could be a trap. The world tilted slightly, and I shifted to straighten myself. The girl leaned toward me.
"Are you okay, Fox? Are you dizzy?" I managed to nod my head, as I heard my target's voice.
"Peter, are you okay? What did you do to him?"
"I didn't do anything. He looked dizzy and I wanted to make sure he was okay. I think he should go hospital." I felt an arm wrapped me, and the hand disappeared.
"Peter, I'm taking you to a doctor. Thank you girl, for the help," said my target. The world started whiting out, as we moved. After my target forced me into a car, I lost tracked on what was going on.
When I woke, my drowsy mind tried to figure out what was going on. I was laying on something hard, with all four of my limbs were spread out. As I tugged one of my arms near my body, it only moved half an inch. Turning my heavy head, I could see my wrist was duct taped to a brown, wooded surface. I could only guess that the rest of me was duct tape to the hard surface.
"You're awake," said my target's voice. I moved my head, to look at him. I open my mouth to try to talk.
"My money now, Mr. Sparkles," said a semi-familiar voice. I turned my head to the little girl who gave me the chocolate heart. My target's name was Ambaides Sparkles, yes that is his real birth name. And it seemed that I cannot even trust a little girl not to be an assassin anymore. I should have learned my lesson with Alex.
"Of course, Tiny Tina. It was twenty dollars, correct?"
"Try two hundred, Mr. Sparkles. Don't try to kid anyone," said the little girl, her tone was almost deadly. If it wasn't for the fact I was taped down to a hard surface, which I'm guessing was a wooden table, I would be laughing at the thought of the girl glaring at Sparkles. Sparkles just sighed, and motion to her to follow him. The two left the room, as Sparkles said,
"Are you sure that it wasn't fifty bucks with two lollipops?"
"Are you stupid? Lollipops give me a headache."
As I waited for a second making sure they were leaving me to my own devices. As I struggled to get free, there was an explosion somewhere nearby, shaking the room. As yells and screams started filling the hallways, I heard footsteps.
"Fox, are you okay?" asked a voice I hadn't heard in months. I turn my head towards Alex, and smiled.
"I will never trust a kid again."
Alex shook his head, and cut the duct tape with a knife. My skin burned when I finished tearing of the tape. Alex smiled at me, and then shook his head.
"Should have followed the teenage girl instead. Anyway, I don't know why you were here, so I already hacked and copy the computer data from this place. Is there anything else you need to do?"
"Nope."
We got away from the building without much fuss, to a small blue car. I dimly remember the driver as the girl who asked for help.
"Alex, you weren't hurt right?"
"Sabrina, I'm fine. We need to hurry or we will miss your mom's delicious meatloaf."
The girl laughed, than look at me.
"My name is Sabrina Pleasure, Mr. Fox. You were lucky that Alex notices those goons following you earlier, and decided to make sure you were fine."
I looked over at Alex, and smiled at him,
"So you were on mission near here?" Alex's face twitched and he shook his head.
"I'm not working with MI6, anymore. Sabrina's parents adopted me."
"Good… You shouldn't have ever been working for them." As we drove on, I couldn't help but wondered if Alex was truly out of the game. Also I need to work on who I could trust, or at least just because someone is small doesn't mean that they aren't dangerous. At least I know I could trust Alex... I think.
