"Damn it, Doctor, I want a clear answer. What is wrong with Seven?" This time it was Seven who pretended to be asleep, mostly to listen but more because she was simply tired of being questioned by Janeway. However, she had no desire to dream again either; they were too real, the feeling of being suffocated had occurred long before she ever lost consciousness. She was ninety eight percent sure she was experiencing the alternate Seven's memories, though she had no clue how or why it was transpiring.
"Seven, can you hear me?" she wanted to ignore Janeway, still angered by their last encounter, but sooner or later she would have to face her and Seven had never been one to put something off. She didn't want to admit the need she had to look at the Captain; but she wanted to make sure it was indeed Janeway and not the Queen resting a hand on her shoulder.
"I can." Janeway was not put off by Seven's cool response.
"The doctor said you lost consciousness again, do you know what happened?"
"I do not. The doctor's knowledge of this is superior to my own. If he can find no fault I cannot be expected to do so either." She raised her mechanical eye brow and looked coolly at the doctor.
"I have no clue what is wrong with you Seven, you collapsed and were moaning in your sleep occasionally shouting, where you dreaming? Of…the Borg perhaps?" Seven flinched.
"I do not wish to speak of this you will cease this line of questioning."
Janeway grew impatient, she despised when Seven refused to co-operate it always made helping her more difficult. And somehow the ex-drone always got into trouble. "Seven this is not an interrogation we simply want to help you why are you making this so hard?"
"I do not want your help, Captain." She didn't want Janeway to know about her dreams, it was bad enough she knew of Desyn's parentage. Even though she and that Seven were not the same she felt a mixture of despair and shame knowing how she was forced to live years under the influence of the Borg. She believed her loyalty to the ship was already under suspicion if their last conversation meant anything, she didn't want to jeopardize it further by explaining how she was reliving a life she never actually experienced. And all of it being directly under the Queen's control. "I should return to Desyn no doubt she is worried about me."
"Seven I believe you should remain in sickbay until we know the nature of these collapses, they seem quiet frequent." Seven ignored the doctor and stood up with the intention of walking past them.
"Seven you will remain under the doctor's care, you are not to leave sickbay is that clear." Janeway grabbed Seven's wrist when she continued toward the door causing Seven to flinch. "That's an order Seven."
'What?' Seven looked around, she'd heard her own voice but she hadn't spoken. She felt her mind drift her vision once again becoming clouded as the room spun around her. She fought the feeling refusing to pass out again. She didn't want to dream, she wouldn't be at the mercy of the Borg, not again.
"No…" Janeway let go of her arm and grasped her shoulders pulling Seven in front of her forcing her to look at her. The fear Janeway saw there worried her. "Captain I-"Janeway pulled her into a hug so Seven wouldn't see the full affect Seven's fear had on her. She couldn't see the inner battle Seven was waging with herself, and she had no way to know Seven was losing it.
'Do not resist." Seven leaned heavily on the captain, hearing her own voice say those words was chilling. "You have to listen! You have to pro-"Seven could barely make out the words the voice was rushed and fading in and out. "Baby….Queen is….you must learn to teach her…..she …..Compassion….protect my dau-"The voice grew frantic; "She is coming for you. Trust Kathryn….she…rely on her…..Sorry. "Seven held tighter to Janeway and said her name pleadingly before darkness inevitably claimed her.
