Jack
"Aurora?" I knocked again with my crook, but there was still no answer. I was holding a try of food that Jessica had made for her, but I begged her to let me take it to Aurora. I desperately wanted to talk to her, to see her, to beg her for forgiveness. I needed her in my life, she just seemed to brighten everything up in my life.
"Aurora?" It was hopeless she wouldn't talk to me. I turned and left the door she was hiding behind…. hiding from me.
I was half way down the hallway when I heard a loud roaring sound, I turned back and looked at the door. There was a loud boom and the door flew off and smashed against the wall. I dropped the tray and ran to the doorway holding my crook. Aurora was standing in the middle of the room, screaming, her entire body engulfed in fire. Tears streaming down her face as she screamed, I couldn't take my eyes off the blaze. I had never seen anything like this before. Then I realized that there was a figure lying on the floor. I couldn't make out who the figure was but there was a large indent in the wall from the force of they had been thrown from the explosion. I was still mesmerized by the fire. It was as if the world had stopped and it was only her that existed.
I felt a hand on my arm and turned to see Mrs. Clause yelling at me and then I came back to reality.
"Jack! Jack you need to stop her! She is going to burn down the whole place."
She was right, the fire around Aurora was growing and it was just spreading her pain. I needed to stop her, take her pain away. Mrs. Clause let go of my arm and I made my way into the room. The heat that was radiating from her was too much I could feel myself almost melting. I could see that the window had been blown off, and I summoned the snow to help put her out. It came flying in, turning into water but was still able to dowse her. there was steam everywhere and she stood there stunned, her entire body trembling. Her hair was cover in soot from the burned remains of the ribbons that were in her hair, turning it black and her eyes were still blazing yellow with the fire. Thats when the figure that was lying on the floor began to move, and to my horror I saw that it was Pitch Black. I heard Mrs. Clause gasped at the sight of him. He looked up at Aurora then looked furiously at me. Aurora was in a daze she turned and looked at me, inching forward just a bit and I did the same.
Thats right just a little closer, get away from the danger. I thought
But with in seconds Pitch had his arms wrapped around her, and her body became limp and lifeless. It almost seemed like he was cradling her in his arms, but then he turned his attention to me.
We just stared at each other, neither of us daring to make a move. It felt like hours.
Pitch held Aurora's limp body in such a possessive way as if she belonged to him in some how.
That's when I noticed fearlings staring to gather around the room defending their master. Aurora made whimpering sound as black sand forced its way into her mouth, staining her skin with black scars.
"leave boy," hissed a fearlings crawling on all fours between us. "the girl is ours." but I refused to listen to it.
"if you hurt her," I felt a large lump in my thought forming as I talked. "I will personally make sure that you will never see your daughter again."
"she is my daughter!" pitch was going mad. And then I remembered Auroras description, with the soot in her hair she looked like an older version of Melaina. Pitch really thought that Aurora was his daughter, and I was going to have to fight him to get her back.
Aurora was now violently coughing From the intrusive black poison.
"jack..." her song like voice was weak but I was still able to hear the cry for help. She needed me, and I wasn't about to let any further harm come to her.
Pitches shaddow began to grown turning into a creature.
A dark figure rose up from the ground. But this figure was no fearling, it was a man. Everything about him was dark and twisted, it was as if he had no flesh but was made entirely out of the poisonous black sand. The man approached Pitch, but ignored him and focused his attention on Aurora. This thing seemed to be enjoying her pain, giving off a viscous smile. It grabbed her chin pressing against her cheeks, causing her lips to part. I was becoming angrier with this creature with every second it had its hands on her. It lunged at her forcing its lips against hers muffling her screams. I couldn't let this continue it was sickening. I charged at the creature freezing everything I my path. I felt beyond fucking pissed I wanted to kill them for hurting her, for fucking with her, for causing both of us pain. I swung my crook as hard as I could again the creature, but with out even looking it caught it. I stood there in awe as the creature
It parted its lips from hers leaving a trail of black sand that snaked its way into her mouth, staining her skin with sickening black scars. She fell still and I could no longer tell if she was breathing. This sand was like a poison, that was taking over her. Is that what happened to Pitch Black? Was she to become a pawn in this creatures game?
It was as if this creature was sucking the life out of her.
I looked in horror at the creature as it sneered wickedly at me.
"Take her." It hissed in a low raspy voice at Pitch, "I'm going to enjoy killing this piece of shit." Pitch disappeared out the large crater that had been the window with Aurora. The creature raised its claws and swung at me, I quickly dodged it and pulled my crook from its grasp. I turned back to face it but before I could act A red blur slammed into the creature turning it into a pile of sand. Santa stood welding a large iron mallet.
"Jack! we can handle things here!" He shouted, and with out another word I was out in the snow chasing after Pitch. I spotted them near the frozen lake, I caught a gust of wind and was quickly near them. I noticed that Pitch was actually running, he wasn't using any of his sand to aid him. What was all this about? But I couldn't worry about that now, I had to make sure Aurora was safe. I froze his foot to the ground and he stumbled dropping Aurora. He turned furiously towards me and I landed in front of him.
"Let her go." I said preparing to fight him.
"She is my daughter!" He shouted trying to reach out her.
"No she's not! Her name is Aurora!" He seemed to be in shock from my words, staring confusedly at her.
"Aurora? My niece Aurora?" he turned to me and it was as if all the scars on his face disappeared. "Where is my daughter Melaina?"
"Everything will be explained," I said ignoring him and approaching Aurora's limp body.
Suddenly the creature that had been in the room appeared crouching over her hissing. It took another swing at me but I was unable to dodge it.
It pinned me to the ground. This creature was growing stronger with every second as if it was feeding off of both Pitch and Aurora. Its claws dug into my shoulder and I shouted to pain.
"I can see into your heart Jack Frost, your past is filled with nothing but heartache." I looked up it to its blood red eyes and I could tell that this creature would stop until It had Aurora.
"turn me into a fearling just leave her alone." it let out a hiss at my words and I felt the claws dig deeper.
"in time your heartache will grow then you will be ready to join us. But her pure heart is too delicious to pass up. Isn't that why your chasing after her?" fuck this creature.
"what is your true motive?" it was the most idiotic thing I could have asked but I was beyond confused on everything that was going on I had to know.
It let out a deep throated chuckle, "the loneliness that has been eating away at her heart is turning her into the bringer of darkness."
"I thought you took away her powers?" it felt as if the creature was crushing my heart with its hands, I could tell that I was loosing a lot of blood and would soon loose consciousness.
"you might as well know since you are about to die." It smiled, as I struggled to pushed it off of me. It leaned in closer to whisper in my ear, "the secret behind her powers is how strong her heart is. Happiness gives her strength which is why you must die!"
There was no possible escape for me I couldn't move, couldn't summon snow. I tried to create a gust of wind but nothing worked. And so I watched helplessly as it raised its other claw. There was a flash as if lightning had just struck and the creatures arms had disintegrated. I looked over and saw Aurora standing trembling having just thrown a crystal from her necklace. Black sand oozed from her mouth, and the whites of her eyes were completely black. I was amazed at just how strong she could be even as evil was trying to condemn her.
"you fucking bitch!" it screeched releasing me and charging at her. It had her by the neck hoisting her up into the air filling her once again with the black sand. "you will be mine!"
Sat up but the pain in my shoulder was unbearable and I would not be able to defeat the creature with such injuries. I grabbed a handful of snow to press against my skin forming a temporary cast.
I lept to my feet and sent a wave of ice freezing the monster.
"Aurora!" I shouted watching her motionless body dangle still in its frozen grasp. Breaking off it's arm I pried her free. placed her on the ground and examined her. Her eyes were closed and she was no longer breathing. Pressing my head against her breast I heard nothing. I felt the stinging sensation as tears began to form in my eyes.
I had to do something.
I pressed my lips against hers and sent a gust of wind threw her lungs as I preformed CPR.
Please, I begged. Please live. I thought as I performed chest compressions. I continued to preform CPR for what felt like forever but nothing was working. Her skin no longer felt warm as I stroked her cheek. I placed her on my lap and cradled her. I didn't care that my body ached or that I had nearly been killed, I would gladly give my last breath just to see her open her eyes.
"Please Aurora, don't go." I cried and then I said something that I never truly felt until she entered my life. "I... I love you." why, why did everyone I ever cared about leave me? I pressed my lips against hers for what was to be the last time.
There was a blinding light so bright that i had to close my eyes. I shielded her against my chest for fear that something was to take her from me. When the light had disappeared I looked down at her. The black scars had vanished from her skin. Her eyes shot open and she fell from my arms coughing and gasping for air, expelling black sand. I really couldn't believe it, and felt myself tearing up again.
"Aurora?" she looked up at me, and I gazed up into her beautiful kelidescope eyes and could see that it was truly her.
"j...jjjaack.." her voice was scratchy and like a whisper. Tears ran down her cheeks which she tried to wipe away with her tattered sleeve. I rapped my arms around her trebling form and never wanted to let go.
"it's ok," I cooed, "I've got you." I felt her arms tighten around my neck.
"i... I am so sorry.."she sobbed in her whorse voice.
"it's not your fault." I looked around to discover that the creature and pitch were gone. The sun was setting and I needed to get her to the safety of the workshop. I leaned her against my good shoulder picked up my crook and cared her in one arm. I was reminded of when I had first found her in the tree and how the moment I saw her I was entranced by her beauty. And once again I was caring her the same way I had that night, her thin frame resting against me, I only wish I could wrap her in my sweater to cover her shredded dress. With my injury i didn't have the strength to fly us back, so I enjoyed the fact that she was alive and in my arms as we walked back.
She continued to weep against me occasionally mumbling about things from her mysterious past that I didn't understand, eventually she went quiet from exhaustion. I felt awful but i really couldn't stop smiling, I felt an inner warmth that canceled out all the pain I felt, and I hoped that it never went away.
"jack!" I looked to see the stout mrs clause and santa running towards us.
"Lady Boreal?" asked Santa still armed with his hammer. I looked down at her, her head rested against my collar bone and she starring blankly out in space. I was becoming very concerned that she was really fucked up in the head.
"she's going to be alright," I smiled, "she just needs to rest and get cleaned up."
"Here I'll take her," said mrs clause becoming a yeti to come get her. As it approached Aurora clung tighter to me and buried her head against me.
"no, that's alright, I'll take her." and I was surprised to see mrs clause nod in agreeance.
The work shop was pure chaos, Elves and yetis running in every direction trying to clean up from Aurora's explosion.
"jack we will go make up your old guest room for her." Said mrs clause, i nodded and headed towards the large bathroom near the guest wing. "oh jack wait," I turned back to her, "you might want to cover her with this," she held out my sweater which had survived the explosion unscathed. I in turn handed her my crook.
"thanks," I said placing the sweater in Auroras lap so that I could get a better hold on her. "did you make her any other clothes?"
"oh yes, we weren't sure just how long she would be staying so I had several made."
"and the cloak?"
"it's fine, just needs to be cleaned from all the dust." I smiled down at Aurora knowing that she would be delighted to wear it again. But she didn't even look up at me, her arms no longer wrapped around my neck but were in tight fits pressed against her chest, and she continued to stair mindlessly into space. It was as if she was in her own little world, and it frightened me. What had the thing done to her? She was timid but she wouldn't ignore someone.
I entered the bathroom, and stood Aurora up. She wobbled slightly and I noticed that her dress was barely covering anything any more and looked as if a wild animal had played with it. Her long soot covered hair covered her more than her dress so i slipped the sweater over her, but she didn't even seem to noticed, instead she became entranced with the mirror and started a starring contest.
I was becoming worried
"Aurora?" no response, I felt pain in my chest knowing that she was no longer the same person that I had come to know.
"jack?" I turned to look at mrs clause standing in the doorway. "is everything alright?"
"I hope so," I turned back to Aurora, "I really hope so.
