The woman, not expecting the young man to simply stand there and scream at the top of his lungs, and apparently in fright, fell off her stool.
The screaming instantly awoke everyone else, however, and they converged on Hiccup, all yelling and asking what was wrong.
Stoick finally pushed his way past the others and yelled "Hiccup!"
Hiccup ceased his screaming, instead drawing in huge lungfulls of air, "Dad" he said at length and at a high pitch after he caught his breath, "T-there's a purple person at our table!"
"Yes, Hiccup I know…" answered Stoick
Hiccup looked at Stoick, dumbstruck, for several seconds and at last sputtered out "B-but, Dad… what's going on!"
Salak, who had been helping Terrwyn to her feet, finally spoke, saying "Hiccup, there's a lot to talk about…"
About half-an-hour later… "Oh" said Hiccup, "So that's why you're here… I'm sorry, I shouldn't have screamed, it's just that…"
Dara interrupted, saying "No apologies necessary. We shouldn't have been the first people you interacted with today, and with the knowledge that you had, your response was perfectly understandable."
"Alright, Hiccup are you okay now?" asked Stoick
"Yeah" said Hiccup, though he kept glancing nervously to Dara and Terrwyn, seemingly wanting to ask them many questions.
"By the way" asked Stoick, turning to Terwyn "Why were you up so early?"
"Couldn't sleep" Terrwyn said, "So I took apart my lightsaber pike for maintenance" she pointed to the long lightsaber-pole on the table, now in several components, with the Kyber crystal being the most important.
Suddenly there was a hammering at the door, Stoick frowned and walked over, looking out the peephole and sighed "Seems like the whole village heard Hiccup scream, they're all out there."
Salak pinched the bridge of his nose and said "Well then, May the Force be with us all." and walked over to the door, opening it.
Suddenly the room was filled with a mess of noise as the Berkians outside hurled their questions at Salak, "Why was there screaming?", "Who was screaming?", "Bucket stole my chicken!" and so on.
"QUIET!" shouted Salak, and the village slowly quieted
Then Spitelout, butting his way to the front of the crowd, asked "Why was there screamin'?"
Salak sighed and said, "As many of you probably know, yesterday the young Dragon Riders and I went to Berserk to procure a cure for a wound Hiccup received defending Toothless."
A murmur of agreement spread over the crowd as Salak continued, "While on the island I found two Jedi whom I know who happened to have crashed on Berserk like I crashed here"
The murmur grew louder, Salak continued on, "Stoick has kindly said that they will be welcome here just like I, even though they are not humans…"
At that Mildew yelled out "WHAT?!"
Salak looked over at him then waved behind him, Dara and Terrwyn walked out the door and a massive gasp came over the crowd.
As Stoick came out he heard Mildew yell, "Monsters! Burn em'!"
At that Stoick said authoritatively "There will be no Jedi burnin', Mildew!"
Mildew fixed a hateful stare on Stoick and then on the new Jedi before walking away.
Stoick addressed the remaining crowd next, "These uh… people, are well known to Salak, so they will be welcome among us! Anyone who feels otherwise can talk to me or Salak about it!"
As the crowd began to disperse Salak walked forward and asked the Hoffersons to stay for a moment.
As Salak led the Hoffersons back to the chief's house, the rest of the Padawans filed and stood by the front door.
"Terrwyn and Dara will need a place to stay" Salak said, addressing the group "I do not believe that the village would deem it proper for them to stay in the Haddock home, and my ship is far from being in habitable shape."
Salak turned to the Hoffersons, who he had already struck up a good rapport with, and asked "Would it be possible for them to stay with you and Astrid?"
Mr. Hofferson and Mrs. Hofferson stood there and blinked a few times, before Mr. Hofferson said, "That's a mighty big request, Salak."
"I know I'm asking a lot, but they need a place to stay." answered Salak
"Well, what does Astrid think?" asked Mrs. Hofferson
All eyes turned towards Astrid, who looked around and said "I don't mind, they could share my room."
Mr. Hofferson seemed to weigh the options and said after a few moments "Alright, as long as no trouble comes from them."
Dara and Terrwyn's postures relaxed a little
As the Hoffersons started home Salak pulled Dara and Terrwyn aside and mumbled to them for a minute, it was obvious that a debate was going on, eventually the pair nodded and Salak brought them back to the main group.
Salak addressed his apprentices and said "Alright, now seeing as we have three Jedi, I think it is best for all of you to train as a group but paired under different masters."
"What do you mean?" asked Ruff
"What I'm saying is that I would like to place Fishlegs and Snotlout under Dara's supervision, the twins under Terrwyn's, and Hiccup and Astrid will remain under me. Occasionally we will switch about for techniques that are best suited to one particular master, but for the most part, the Jedi that you are paired with will be responsible for your training." finished Salak.
"That doesn't sound so bad." said Hiccup
The others seemed to agree, so Salak smiled and said "Good, we will resume training tomorrow morning, as I would like to give Dara and Terrwyn a chance to rest and recuperate, perhaps spar a bit, and otherwise get ready."
Now Terrwyn spoke up, and asked "Salak, um, well… are there any showers here, you know, so we can bathe and get all this grime off."
"What's a shower?" asked Astrid
"Astrid, could you take them to the women's bathing pond?" asked Salak, answering Terrwyn's question indirectly.
Dara groaned at the lack of technology as Astrid led them away and into the forest…
Women's bathing pond… So here it is" said Astrid, as the trio rounded a corner and found themselves near a small crystal-clear pond fed by a small waterfall.
The two Jedi Knights immediately began to strip down to their undergarments and dove in, Astrid sat on the bank.
"So" Astrid began, "do either of you have any questions about the village?"
"Yes" answered Dara after a pause, "How intelligent are those reptavians, Salak called them… dragons?"
"Oh, well each Dragon subspecies is rated on a scale for intelligence, speed, shot limit, and other stuff" said Astrid, her chin on her folded hands "Toothless, um… Hiccup's Dragon, is probably the most intelligent on Berk. Roughly as intelligent as, um…"
Astrid paused while trying to come up with a comprable figure, she immediately thought of Stoick, but didn't want to insult the chief, so she decided on "Gobber, probably as smart as Gobber."
Dara nodded and her and Terrwyn continued to bathe for several more minutes until they felt they were clean enough, then they climbed out and dried themselves off with their outer robes, which they didn't put back on, as they were soaking wet, they'd hang them to dry somewhere in the village.
Then, with Astrid leading, they began to walk back to the Village, and their new home.
