Author's Note: Okay, so the plan is that I am going to finish this fanfiction and then move onto either a Peeta/Katniss fanfiction or a Haymitch/Katniss fanfiction. Tell me which one you'd prefer! I feel like this fanfiction is very Katniss/Glimmer friendship fanfic. I'm going to base it on 'Three Men And a Little Lady', but instead call it 'Three Men And a Little Everdeen'. And on that note ... on with the drama!

Chapter 8

Katniss POV

I can see him as soon as I turn the corner and it's like everyone else is a blur. I can see a few people staring and whispering as usual, staring at the pregnant girl who was seething with anger. But the only thing on my mind is Cato, stood there, without a care in the world, opening his locker and acting like nothing was going on. Not like he'd raped and harassed the mother of his child just for good measure or manipulated a number of girls, including myself to the brink of confusion.

Haymitch was miles behind me, and now was my chance.

I walked straight up to Cato. He turned to look at me with a smirk on his face and I slapped it straight off. There was a ringing silence in the corridors as people stared in curiosity, some giggling nervously, some with their mouths hung open.

"What's your problem, you little brat!" Cato yelled, rubbing his flushing cheek gently.

"How dare you, Cato. How dare you treat Glimmer like this! What, you think that she is weak or something? No, she's going to go straight to the police and tell them what a little coward you are!" I shrieked.

Cato's eyes narrowed. "She told you."

"She told me everything," I said, smugly. "And if she doesn't report you, I will!"

"Is that right?" Cato bellowed, standing as close as he dared so we were nose to nose.

"You think that you can just take whatever you want, don't you? You think you're such a big man? You're wrong. You're a weak, pathetic, spineless, coward who could never really take on a real man and instead, manipulates women just so you can feel a burst of strength. You are a selfish bastard!"

Cato reached out a grabbed my wrist, squeezing it so hard I thought it might break. Everyone gasped and I desperately tried to shrug him away. "If you call me a coward one more time, I swear, Everdeen, I will beat that baby right out of you!"

I used my other hand so I could slap him again, but he dodged easily and slapped me so hard, I toppled to the ground. I could feel blood on my cheek and knew his nails had scratched the skin. Pain rippled through my spine, and for a frantic moment, I felt something inside me kick in protest. My baby.

Cato advanced towards me, his fist raised. Why were people just standing there, frozen? Did they want to see a pregnant women get battered? I raised my hand over my face, in one last effort to protect myself when I heard a voice.

"Hey!" Haymitch shouted. He was in front of me in seconds. He grabbed Cato's fist and used his own to punch Cato right in the chops. He fell in a similar position to me, sprawled on the floor with a bruise already developing on his cheek. Haymitch knelt down and raised his hand as though to punch him again when Effie and Glimmer ran to our aid.

"Haymitch!" Effie shrieked, nabbing him by his muscular arm. "Enough!"

The deranged look in Haymitch's eyes faded and he nodded slowly, pulling himself to his feet. Cato scrambled up in a millisecond.

"Katniss!"

"Are you okay?!"

I could feel the familiar hands of Johanna, Rue, Annie, Clove and Gale hoisting me to my feet.

"I'm fine," I assured them. I was staring at Cato and he was throwing me death glares.

Clove stared at him. "What the hell is wrong with you?" she shouted.

Cato pointed at her accusingly. "Don't you dare get into this, little girl."

"You hit her?" Gale questioned, stepping closer to a seething Cato, who was separated only by Haymitch, pushing his back every time he got too close.

"Clear the hallways please!" Effie ordered, and students immediately sprung to life and hurried off to their next lessons. It was only me, Cato, Glimmer, Haymitch, Effie and the others stood in a lonely corridor.

"Yeah, I hit her!" Cato said, proudly. "But she hit me first!"

"Don't you ever ever play that card, kid," Haymitch growled. "You never hit a women, and for that matter, you never force them either. You are abusing Glimmer and now everyone will know what a little-"

"Haymitch," Effie silenced him with look.

Haymitch stood down. Clove looked from Cato to Glimmer in horror.

"Cato?" she wondered aloud, tears pouring down her cheeks. "Is this true?"

"THIS IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!" Cato screamed at her. She shut up then, but tears poured relentlessly down her cheeks. Gale pulled her into a hug and she sobbed into his shirt.

Cato ignored her and turned to Glimmer. "Now, you and I ..." he muttered in a calm tone. "Are going to have a vigorous conversation when we get home."

"No way," I snarled through clenched teeth.

"I think we should all just calm down and move this into my office," Effie said, sternly. "All of you, now."

Glimmer POV

"No matter how you felt, Katniss, that is no excuse to start a scene in the school corridor," Effie hissed.

Katniss flushed and hung her head. "Sorry, Miss."

"I think under the circumstances we can let this one slide," Haymitch stepped in.

"Hell no!" Cato cried. "I want her sued for this. She'll hear from my lawyers."

"And you, young man, will hear from mine!" Haymitch replied, menacingly. "Don't forget, she's the one who's face was bleeding off when I came round, and you looked relatively unscathed so I suggest you bag it now, Adams."

Cato shut up. He was sat to the right of Effie's desk and me and Katniss were sat further to the left, a good distance away from him. Haymitch was stood over Katniss, a hand on her shoulder. Gale, Annie, Rue, Johanna and Clove were sat along the sofas towards the side of the office. Rue and Johanna both held Clove's hands as she continued to sniffle half-heartedly.

"Cato, we've heard some very serious accusations about you," Effie stated. "We know that you've been harassing and abusing Glimmer-"

"And you can prove all of this, eh?" Cato cut in, shoving his hands in his pockets.

"We don't need proof, you idiot!" Katniss snapped. "Her body is proof enough!"

"Katniss ..." Haymitch growled. I hunched over, desperately trying to hid my body from the world.

Cato snorted. "Oh, please, she could of gotten those anywhere."

"What about Leven?" Katniss questioned. "It's proof that you raped her!"

"No, it's proof that we have a child together, that's all," Cato said, breezily. "No matter what your DNA tests show-"

"There are other kind of tests we can perform on Glimmer to prove that she's been abused," Effie said. "Rape can cause a lot of damage, you know."

"No way, she won't go through with it," Cato said. He was talking about me like I'm spineless. "She'd be too embarrassed."

"No, I wouldn't," I spoke up. "I'll take any kind of test to get away from you."

"Oh, shut up you little slut," Cato snarled.

Haymitch opened his mouth to retort, but Johanna got there first.

"She can move in with us."

I blinked at her, totally confused. "You have your own apartment?"

Johanna nodded. "You an share a room with someone, we'll make room. And Leven can come too. My parents are rich. They're paying for us to live there. You can stay whilst the tests come through and then surely your Uncle will let you move back in with him."

Cato rolled his eyes. "You're staying put, Glimmer," he said, simply. "I have right to Leven."

"Will you just keep your mouth closed for two minutes?" Haymitch sighed. Cato glared but said nothing.

Katniss reached forward and took my hand. "I know what it's like you know. Having someone you love kick you out. Like they don't want you anymore ... like they don't love you anymore, but-"

"I never said I didn't love you."

The voice silenced everyone. We turned around to see a women, with long blonde hair tied back into a ponytail, flushed cheeks and dull eyes, stood in the doorway.

"Mum?" Katniss whispered, her vice barely audible over the tension sweeping through the room.
