Considering it's Christmas I'm gonna post a silly little something-
This is NOT a part of the main story therefore please see it as a sider to the main events.
Enjoy!~
"Hiccup! Today's the day!"
"Go back to sleep Toothless" the auburn-haired male in question groaned in his half-conscious state and rolled over to block out the offending sound.
"Not a chance! Get up!"
Hiccup only decided to make a move when he felt a knee in his side
accompanied by a hefty smacking-to-the-face with what smelled like an unwashed t-shirt.
"Get up!" Toothless grinned down at his friend.
"You're an asshat you know that" Hiccup laughed, still trapped under the other male's knee.
"Get off or I can't get up" he smirked, Toothless stood up and grinned broadly.
"It's Christmas!"
Hiccup had somehow forgotten about the date, no thanks to the whole, 'the world is ending' thing going on.
"Oh yeah," he wasn't a big Christmas person, but by the looks of it, Toothless definitely was.
For Hiccup, Christmas had just been a strange and awkward family situation; his mother was never there and his father always, without fail, invited his best friend over, (the fondly named 'Gobber,' so titled by the Haddock family due to his incredible ability to never stop talking)
His father and the other man only used Christmas as an occasion to get drunk on mead, leaving the poor lad to spend Christmas alone.
"Come on! Let's go downstairs!" Toothless bounced eagerly on the bed, causing the whole thing to creak and groan in disapproval.
"Why?" Hiccup rolled his eyes,
"'Cause! Don't you want to see the tree?!"
"Tree? What tree?" Had there been a tree? Hiccup couldn't remember...
"Come on!"
"Fine, fine!" Hiccup pushed Toothless off the bed and swung his legs over the side, pulling his boots on and cracking his back as he stood.
"Let's go and see this tree and be done with it" he huffed, following his over-exuberant friend who was already charging down the stairs and out of sight.
Hiccup entered the mapping room, the other people living in the building had decided would be the main meeting place before missions, and so that's where he assumed the tree would be. He chuckled under his breath as he saw Toothless standing before a rather tacky looking Christmas tree with his mouth hanging wide open.
"Isn't it the best thing you've ever seen?!" He shouted and bounded over to Hiccup,
"Errrr-" he nodded his approval, hinted by a swift warning glare from his raven-haired companion.
"I've never spent Christmas with someone else before, the Boss never let me" the man sighed as if remembering a bad past, "but that's over now" he shook his head and offered a cheesy grin to Hiccup.
"Come on, we get the day off! No missions so we can just goof around" he grabbed Hiccup's wrist and dragged him out into the corridors that were slowly filling with sleepy people, all making their way down to grab a bite to eat.
"Morning" Toothless offered a few people a cheery "Merry Christmas" before continuing.
The two walked side-by-side, cracking lame Christmas jokes and telling stories about what the festival was like when they were younger; Hiccup recited a rather interesting event where his father somehow managed to convince him to go sledding down the street in only his underwear when he was twelve.
"It sounds like you had fun at home this time of year" Toothless commented,
"Not really... Me and dad were never close but- but... I guess I miss him" Hiccup bit his bottom lip.
"I'm sorry" Toothless nervously placed his hand over Hiccup's, not sure if he was overstepping his boundaries.
"It's okay" Hiccup smiled wearily, the nostalgia making him feel stuffy and small.
"Look" Toothless pointed at something above them, "mistletoe"
"You don't mean?" Hiccup pointed at himself and then at the offending piece of greenery tied to the rafter.
"Well... It is mistletoe..."
They both looked at each other for a few awkward moments before Hiccup sucked in a deep breath and leaned in towards Toothless.
The other man angled his head slightly to the left as Hiccup placed his lips on his own.
The kiss barely lasted five seconds but the embarrassed shyness that followed lasted for the rest of the day.
"I bet it was Tuffnut having a joke" Toothless commented, a burning red flush spread across his face,
"Yeah, probably"
They both laughed, the tension dissipated instantly,
"Merry Christmas Hiccup" Toothless smiled warmly,
"Yeah," Hiccup smiled back, "Merry Christmas
