A/N: Well, this is awkward. I would, first of all, like to thank and then apologise to everyone who has read and supported my stories even during my little hiatus, I really did not expect to have such a huge gap between the updates but I've been busy with other stuff and just hadn't had the time to write so I decided to give you guys a short update to let you guys know that I am still alive. (I again do apologise for the length but it's better than nothing, right?) For everyone that commented and messaged me to update and shared your thoughts and kind words I cannot thank you enough and it really is appreciated so thank you! Also, FYATT fans fear not! I promise I WILL finish that story, it won't be left incomplete I just need time to write it and give it a good send-off. I thought I'd clear up that little cliffhanger I had left you all hanging onto for so long so here it is. Leave your comments down below, I love reading them :)
"I have some rather exciting news." Everyone quietened down instantly, like a classroom full of students when the headmaster walked in. Markarov took a short pause to ensure that every ear was tuned in.
"As you're all aware," he continued, "I went away to the council for a few days... and in that time Gray here," He pointed to the far end of the hall by the bar, a few heads turned but it was still too far away for Erza to see any inch of him. "Made a surprising entrance and told me something I couldn't quite believe." Erza's heart felt funny. And for a moment, she even felt angry. But her anger wasn't directed at Gray or even herself, it was someone else. Someone who wasn't here. Her scapegoat.
"But after some careful thought and consideration, I have decided it's for the best." Confused was one word to describe her, scared was another. She knew that whatever it was, it had something to do with her. Because the only thing that Gray could talk about to the master was... was that. But she doesn't get to cry now. She knew this was coming, there was no escape. Markarov was going to cast her out. For being unstable. For breaking the rules and aiding a criminal. For nearly hurting one of her guild mates. Her best friend. It was only right. And she wouldn't blame any one of them. So this is what Gray wanted. She closed her eyes and braced herself for those words. She wondered how he would say it, would he tell everyone what she had done first and then throw her out. Or would he throw her out first and then tell everyone afterward about how selfish she had become. Would she even get to say goodbye to everyone? Explain herself perhaps? Did she even have a right to?
"Please welcome, the newest addition to Fairy Tail" Master waved his arm behind him, drawing everyone's attention towards the back of the stage where a lone silhouette stood.
Erza stood motionless to one side, her eyes couldn't stay fixed on one point for too long, it was like her auto-focus was switched off. Her mind felt hazy and the air around her felt thick and musty, it was making her feel sick. She could hear gasps and murmuring among the crowd and then suddenly a burst of applause filled her eardrums. She didn't know what she was looking for anymore, Gray had long disappeared into the crowd. She followed everyone's gazes to the front of the stage. Markarov was clapping the hardest it seemed, with each clap of his small hands Erza could feel it echo inside her clouded head. He kept looking at her. I mean, he was looking at the crowd in general but every few seconds, they would make eye contact, it was like he wanted to see her reaction. To see what she would do.
The figure began walking into the light and soon enough their identity was revealed. Erza locked eyes with the guest and it was like someone punched a hole in her gut. Her mind was static and nothing was making much sense anymore. The applause grew louder to the point where it was deafening and through all the noise she could just about make out what Markarov had said.
"Jellal Fernandes!"
