It was now the end of classes. Just as the last bell started ringing, the whole class started fixing up their books and other things. Not even waiting for their lilac haired adviser's instructions who looked pissed ever since this morning and just left the room without a word. Why he was acting like that was beyond them, but didn't really care enough to ask why.
Luka who was already placing her books in her book bag orderly, looked at the sleeping figure beside her. Deciding to wake the other girl up, she stopped what she was doing and gently tapped Miku's back.
"Miku?" She shook the girl lightly, hoping for her to wake up. "Miku, time to wake up."
"Hmnnnwuah..?" The tealette mumbled incoherently, slowly raising her head upwards from her between her arms, her drowsy eyes slowly fluttering open.
"It's already the end of classes." Luka smiled at the girl's sleeping mess, she found it very adorable.
Rubbing her eyes to get the weariness away, she looked around the classroom, seeing everyone fixing their things and talking to their friends, all of them looking happy. With her hair sticking all over the place, she yawned and stretched her arms, rubbing her eyes again to swipe some tears away from her eyes afterwards.
"Thanks for waking me up." She smiled at Luka, who just smiled at her in return and continued fixing her things. Groggily trying to shove her books back into her bag, she zipped her bag close after she managed to stuff all her things inside, slinging it over her shoulder afterwards with another yawn.
"You look awfully tired." Luka pointed out, her voice laced with concern. Dangling her bag on her shoulder, and keeping it in place between her armpit, she looked at Miku who was scratching her cheek.
"Well I'm an insomniac, it keeps me up all night." She lied flawlessly.
Damn it I hate lying but I need to.. Sorry Luka.
Miku sighed, feeling guilty. Just as Luka was about to open her mouth to talk, Rin called out their names, taking both of their attention. Much to the tealette's relief.
"Miku-chaan! Luka-chaan!" While waving her hand, the shorter blonde ran up to them with a cheerful smile on her face. Her friends walking behind her back, all wearing the same smile. When the blonde stopped between them she gave them a wide grin.
"We're going home now, wanna come too?" She offered, looking at both of them with her expectant eyes.
"Yeah sure." Luka answered with a smile, feeling more comfortable with her classmates ever since they welcomed her. When the class saw how the pinkette replied to the blonde's reply, they were overjoyed because it seemed like the pinkette was indeed warming up to them. While Rin bounced up and down with excitement, she noticed the weary tealette beside her.
She noticed that for almost half of the day, the tealette slept through it. She brushed it off as the teal haired girl's traits but now that she got a closer look the tealette did look exhausted. Thinking that the girl probably had nightly hobbies just like herself she didn't pay any much thought to it anymore and started dragging both of them outside the room after they bid their classmates goodbye.
They were now currently walking through their school gates, Rin was talking to her friends about everything and anything. Neru was of course using her phone as always though answers some questions when asked. Kaito was eating his ice cream while listening to Rin. Miki and Gumi were the ones who were actively talking to Rin. Len was watching Kaito's blue scarf sway along the wind for some reason, while IA and Yukari were talking about something, probably IA explaining the things that happened when Yukari was asleep.
Miku and Luka was just listening to the bubbly girl talk.
After a few minutes. Not even a mile away from the gates, a black limousine pulled up in front of the group, confusing them on why such an expensive car would stop near them. Unsure of what to do, the teenagers just stared as one of the limo's door opened, revealing a white haired middle aged man wearing a black butler suit.
Widening her eyes in recognition Luka called out the butler's name.
"Ciel?"
"Ojou-sama." Ciel bowed, surprising Luka's friends since they thought these things only happened in shows until now.
Taking notice of her friends' reactions, she glanced at them nervously.
"Chin up Ciel, there's no need for that here." She ordered, a superior aura emanating from her. "Why are you here?"
Smiling at his ojou-sama's kindness, standing straight he glanced at the calm tealette beside her. "Your parents sent me here to pick you up early along with a special guest."
"A special guest? And who is that?" If her mother sent a limo to pick her up, something serious must be up to the point that they needed her home immediately, the said guest also perking up her interest.
"Hatsune Miku-sama." He bowed at the said girl. Miku just scratched her cheeks at what was happening, unsure of what to do. She knew a fetcher was going to pick them up, but she didn't expect for him to do that. The tealette felt all of their surprised gaze at her, making her feel rather awkward.
"M-Miku?" Luka blinked, puzzled on why they needed the tealette. Heck she didn't even know that her parents knew her. "What about her?"
Ciel's expression turned dark for a second but was quickly covered with a smile. "That I don't know, m'lady."
"Okay.." She said hesitantly, thinking that it was just her mind playing tricks on her. "We'll go with you, just give me a minute."
"Of course m'lady." He bowed once again then went back to their limousine.
Facing her friends with a nervous smile on her face, she laughed shyly. "W-We need to go now."
"Wow I never knew you were that rich!" Rin exclaimed, her eyes practically shimmering with admiration. "So cool!"
"So butlers still exist huh." IA quietly said, her voice filled with awe.
"Y-Yeah." Luka rubbed the back of her neck, uncertain of what to say.
"Anyways yeah sure! You can go now, there's always a tomorrow." Rin smiled at the pinkette, a bit disappointed that they wouldn't be able to go home together but just ignored it and looked forward for tomorrow.
"Bye!" She waved her hands, bidding them farewell, her friends doing the same with a smile on their faces.
"Bye." After waving back at them, Luka smiled at them one last time and looked at the unusually silent tealette beside her. "Let's go?"
"Sure." Miku nodded and smiled back at their friends, then started walking with Luka to board the limo.
Their car ride to the Megurine's mansion was a silent one.
Miku was pondering on about how Luka's parents will pull her off. When she was assigned to just guard Luka from a distance, and Meiko to guard her in school as a teacher and to observe the school itself. Miku wasn't immediately deployed to enroll in Crypton to guard her closely because they still needed the Megurine's approval and also because her superiors didn't want her to just yet for some reason.
The tealette knew the reason why she was being called along with Luka, it's because starting today, she was going to live with the pinkette. What she was concerned about though, was what excuse her parents are gonna tell the pinkette to make her sudden stay believable. Sighing, she decided to let it go, to just wait and see.
Having those thoughts pushed back into her mind, she glanced at silent pinkette beside her and smiled at the adorable sight. Luka looked disconcerted while mindlessly playing with her fingers on her lap, looking at anywhere but the tealette.
She probably noticed how quiet I was.
Staring at her for a little more, she caught Luka glance at her back. Both embarrassed for being caught, they quickly averted their gazes with their faces flushed.
What? What am I getting embarrassed for?
Confused with her reaction, she just shook her head and took a side long glance at the pinkette who had her face beet red as well.
Rubbing the back of her neck sheepishly. Miku looked at Luka once again who was pointedly staring at her lap.
"Anything wrong?" She started, feeling like she should say something. Anything.
Luka widened her eyes and looked at Miku, waving her hands in a dismissing manner. "N-No, no. There's nothing wrong."
"I just noticed how quiet you were.." She meekly continued, red dusting her cheeks.
Her fingers intensely swirling with each other timidly.
She's playing with them so intensely I'm actually scared that they might break. Miku sweat dropped.
Setting that aside, she smiled at Luka. "Don't worry. I was just thinking about something."
"Is it about your sudden invitation from my parents?" She seriously looked at Miku.
The tealette inwardly grimaced. Guess I can't just dodge this conversation huh?
"Y-Yeah." Miku looked at her lap. The roles have reversed, now she was the one fiddling with her fingers.
"I'm skeptical about it too," Luka said with a thoughtful look on her face, sharing her thoughts about the matter. "Though do you by any chance, know my parents?"
Oh god I don't know how to answer that. Miku desperately tried to come up with an excuse, feeling a cold sweat trickle from her chin as Luka gave her an expectant look.
She could not think of any, she couldn't think at all!
Someone, help me!
"Ojou-sama, Hatsune-sama. We have already arrived." A husky male voice was heard from the limo's intercom speakers, effectively attracting both of the teenagers attention, and much to the tealette's relief.
Seems like I'm a bit lucky today. Miku sighed.
"Oh. We're already here." Luka was a bit disappointed, she wanted to know how her parents knew Miku and the chance to know has just slipped away. Though she could always ask her parents anyways so she let it go. "Let's go?"
Miku, who wore a weary smile on her face, nodded.
The door beside them opened, revealing Ciel who pulled it for them and stepped sidewards to give way for the two teenagers to unboard themselves. Before they could even walk past three steps through the straight stone path of Luka's mansion, two lines of maids have positioned themselves on both edges of the pathways and greeted the young ladies.
"Welcome back, Luka-ojou-sama and welcome, Hatsune-sama." They all greeted in unison with a bow.
Luka just coolly nodded at them in recognition. Miku didn't know what to do and tensely bowed back. When they reached the mansion's large wooden double doors, Ciel opened the doors for the young ladies, once again sidestepping to give them way. After the door was closed behind them, Miku was amazed at how big Luka's mansion was. It looked really different from when she was just guarding her outside, so she didn't expect the inside to be this majestic.
There were numerous antique decorations placed near the walls, a few paintings which are typical for mansions, a huge chandelier in the middle of the room and two wide red carpeted flight of stair ahead with a large fountain of some sort between it. The walls were rather modern but still held an elegance in design, while the marble floors were pearly white, making Miku wondered how they managed the floor so clean like that.
Staring at the flight of stairs in front of them as they walked forward, they saw a familiar shade of pink descending from the stairs. A pink haired woman who appeared to be an older version of Luka along with a good looking black haired man were walking to both the teenagers making them stop and wait for them. When they were already face to face with each other, Miku bowed at the two adults and tilted her body back upwards.
Luka was confused on why she did that, but just brushed it away as how Miku greeted adults.
She found it admirable.
"So mum, what's the matter?" Luka smiled at her mother, acting completely different from when she does in school.
Just as her mother was about to answer, her father spoke up good-naturedly.
"Let's talk in the living room where it's more comfortable, shall we?" He said, gesturing at the other side of the large room with a kind smile on his face.
He chuckled as his wife just pouted at her husband's interruption but nodded anyways.
Luka just smiled at the two fondly, while Miku found her parents interesting.
