A/N: Well here is it the date. I hope you enjoy. I made sure it was done today to make up for taking so long to update the last chapter. Also thank you so much for all the reviews, follows and favorites. It made my day. Hope you enjoy.

Rick was sure he had never smiled this much in one sitting. Well expect maybe when he was with Alexis, but other than that he doesn't remember ever smiling this much.

He was sitting in a little coffee shop close to the book store, where his signing was, drinking coffee and eating a pastry. The pastry was really good and so was the coffee. He had to remember to put this coffee place in his phone so he can come here more often.

But the coffee and the pastry were not the reason that his face currently felt numb from smiling so much. No, the reason for that was sitting across from him, talking about what it was like to be a detective in a crazy city like New York, the reason was the one and only Kate Beckett.

The gorgeous green eyed detective whom he had given his number to a month ago after bumping in to her at a coffee shop, who hadn't called him, was now sitting across from him with a smile he would love to see every day, on her face.

He had thought for sure after the third week and she hadn't called that he would never see her again. But fate had another idea for them.

Fate had pushed them into meeting again at the book store. And even though she wasn't there for the signing he was able to see her and invite her to this coffee date. He was so happy that she had agreed to come with him. He had thought for sure that she would say no. But he had told her the truth and she had finally agreed.

So no he was currently laughing and smiling more than he has ever laughed or smiled in one sitting. He was enjoying himself and he really didn't want to go back to the book store for the signing. He wanted to spend the whole say with her, but unfortunately he had a job to do.

But that wasn't for another 45 minutes, so for now he was just going to enjoy his time with her. This time that he was almost positive he would never get.

"So if you don't mind me asking, why did you become a writer?" She asked, breaking him out of his reverie.

"I don't mind at all. You know people ask me all the time why and I never really know how to answer. There were a few different reasons why. But I guess the one that most sticks out, is actually one I have never told anyone before, but it stems from this encounter I had at a library when I was younger. I was I guess six or seven, and I was at the library looking through the books and I just couldn't decide what I wanted. Then this man came up beside me and asked me if I needed any help. He was looking at me though as if he knew me, and he kind of looked familiar but I never figured out from where. I told him I didn't know what to pick and he reached up and grabbed a copy of "Casino Royal" and told me to try this. I read it and I loved it, and I guess that was part of the reason I became a writer, because I always wanted to capture in my writing what the author had captured in that book." Castle said looking into her eyes.

"Thanks for sharing that with me Rick, it means a lot." Kate said with a soft smile. A smile that just melted his heart.

They continued talking about different things, nothing too deep. Rick talked about writing and Alexis. Kate talked about her job and college. She didn't really talk about her family, but he wasn't going to push. She would open up to him when the time came.

Then while they were talking Castle's phone began to ring and he looked at it and noticed it was Gina, and then he realized the time.

"Oh man, it's been over an hour already. I'm late; I really need to get back." He said quickly as he stood up.

"Oh wow, I didn't realize that it had been that long. I guess what they say is true, time really flies when you're having fun." She said as she stood to walk with him out the door. That comment about having fun really made Castle smile. If she had fun then maybe she would want to do this again.

"Yeah, I guess it is. I really did have a great time Kate. I am so glad you agreed." He said as he held the door for her and they walked out onto the New York sidewalk towards the book store. He placed his hand on her lower back again, just like when they were walking there. He just wanted to keep her close and touch her. He couldn't get over the spark he felt every time when they touched.

"Castle," she started nervously. "I really am sorry I didn't call. I really was busy. I had a case that was just draining. I really did want to call. I don't want you to think that I was blowing you off." She said quickly.

"Kate it's really okay, I understand. And besides fate brought us together any way." he said with a smile as they reached the back entrance.

"I guess it did. Umm so this is your stop." She said regretfully.

"Yeah it is, but I really want to do this again. Maybe dinner next time and maybe without a time limit. What do you say?" He asked almost nervously.

"Hmm" she paused and grabbed his phone from his hand. Punching in a few things and handing it back to him. "I say call me and set up a day and time." She said with a smile.

"Really?" He asked with a huge goofy grin. He felt like a kid on Christmas.

"Really, you can also text me anytime you get bored at one of these things. I really did have a great time today. But you need you to get in there and meet some more of your."

"But what if I want to stay here with you?" he asked petulantly.

"You can't." she said with a smile. Then his phone rang again. "Castle go in, and I will talk to you soon." She leaned in close to him, and he thought for sure she was going to kiss him. But then her lips made contact with his cheek and he felt that spark again. "Goodbye Rick." She whispered in his ear and with that she walked away.

"Goodbye Kate." He called after her when he finally came out of his shock. And then he heard Gina calling his name and he was brought back to the real world.

He walked in the building and listened as Gina yelled at him but all he could think about was Kate and how much he wanted to see her again. He was so excited that she had agreed to go out with him again.

He sat down and began signing again when he felt his phone vibrate. He pulled it out and saw a text from Kate.

"Rick thank you again for the coffee. I had an amazing time. Looking forward to your call. xoxo Kate."

He looked at the screen and read it over and over. He really was falling for her hard and fast. He glanced at the screen one more time and then put his phone away. He looked at the crowd and smiled, but he wasn't smiling cause of them he was smiling cause of the amazing women he had met and was now falling for.

He was smiling because of the one and only Kate Beckett.
