Trick 'r Treat (Part 1)
Between Chapters Eighteen and Nineteen of Fire and Ice: The End
Just because I am in the Halloween spirit I made a snapshot for it. It will be in two parts. The second one might be rated M if I man up and write it. I also put up the Halloween costumes on my account profile if you wanted to see what they looked like.
Dozens upon dozens of screaming tiny children wailed as they walked from house to house with their parents. Other older children went from house to house with not a care in the world. The only thing on their minds was the candy. Who cared if the house was scary? The scarier the house was; they were probably giving out the best candy. Each one of the houses was decorated to perfection. This wasn't their first Halloween, Some houses though, we better than others. That's what the tiny, dark-haired boy thought anyway as he stood before the one home. From somewhere, he didn't know, there was music blaring which made the house much more terrifying.
"What's wrong?" the small knight jumped a mile. "Don't you want to get any candy from this house?"
"It's scary," the toddler looked up at the man beside him. "Will you go with me, daddy?"
"I thought you were a big boy now, Brandon," Draco knelt next to the nervous boy. "Do big boys need their daddies to go with them to scary houses?"
"Draco, just go with him," both men turned abruptly as Haylee, dressed as the beautiful Goddess Diana, came up beside them with a tiny bumblebee on her hip. "We don't need a repeat of the other night."
Ugh. The other night, talk about awkward. They had been watching one of those family Halloween movies. Which one was it? The one with the three witches that came back to life after that dumb kid light the black candle. Oh yeah, Hocus Pocus. It wasn't at all scary, not to Draco at least. The witches had just come back from hell, and Draco was getting bored. Brandon was so into the movie that he didn't notice his parents get up and leave him in the family room alone to watch the move all by himself. That wasn't the awkward part though. He and Haylee were getting hot and heavy back up in their room when out of nowhere a scream broke through the house, followed by tiny footsteps sprinting up the staircase. One guess as to where they ended up.
"Mummy? Daddy? What are you doing?" Needless to say, Draco didn't get any that night.
"Draco, are you even listening to me?" Haylee asked him.
"Sorry, my mind was elsewhere," he apologized, grabbing his son's hand. "Let's go get your candy."
"Yay!" Brandon held up his toy sword. "Mummy, why isn't Ava coming with me? She don't want candy?"
"This house is a little too scary for her, Brandon," Haylee told him. "She'll go to the last house with you though."
"And then we get to go to Grandma's?" the boy asked, the largest grin on his face.
"Yes, and then you get to go to Grandma's," Haylee couldn't help but smile too. He was just so cute in his little knight costume.
"Daddy, are you and Mummy coming to Grandma's too?" he asked as he led his father to the house, trying his hardest not to jump when the monsters jumped out at him.
"Not this time. It's just going to be you, Grandma and your sister," Draco told him. "Your mother and I are going to see you in the morning."
"OK," he said. "You wait here, and I'll go get my candy."
Draco stopped and leaned against one of the white pillars coated in spider webs. He watched as his son walked up the steps and rung the boor bell. Seconds later a forty-something year old woman opened the door with a full bucket of candy in her hands.
"Aren't you the most adorable knight I've seen this evening? What is your name, sir knight?" she asked.
"Brandon," Draco chuckled at his son's answer. He was adorable when he was nervous. He then continued watching as he grabbed one of the king sized bars and stuffed it into his bag. That thing had to be full by now.
"What did you get me you crazy kid?" Brandon shrieked as he was hoisted into the air and into his father's arms.
"It's not for you, daddy. It's my candy," Brandon explained. "You can't have any of my candy."
"None?" Draco asked. "Even though I walked with you through the scary part of the house?"
"OK, maybe one piece," the boy held up one finger. "But that's it."
"I guess that's fair," Draco dropped Brandon off as they met up with the rest of their family. "Ready to get some candy, Ava?"
Ava smiled widely, showing off her two new baby teeth and clapped her hands. She had no idea what was going on, but she was enjoying it nonetheless.
"Trick r treat," Brandon held out his bag for the last time that night.
"Aren't you just the cutest thing?" How many times was he going to hear that today? "There you go dear." The elderly woman handed him a bars of chocolate.
"Can I get one for my sister too? She's still too small to get her own," he asked, turning to look at his smiling sister in his mother's arms.
"I don't see why not," she smiled at the family. "Happy Halloween."
"Thank you," he turned to his parents. "All done. I can't wait to show Grandma all of my candy."
"I can't wait to drop you off at Grandma's," Draco whispered as the four of them headed back home.
"Draco," Haylee smacked him in the stomach. "Not so loud."
Twenty minutes later, Draco and Haylee dropped their kids off at Narcissa's and with a kiss goodnight, they were off for a really good night.
