CHAPTER-7

We each need to make peace with our own memories. We have all done things that make us flinch.

It was dark. Unnerving silence greeted the blond when he opened his eyes. Am I really opening my eyes, or is this another dream? Man I can't decide. He walked forward, the darkness fading into a lighter shade by every step he took. He shivered. Cold. Where am I? By now the black had turned into the soothing shade of white. White of purity. White of heaven. White of snow. Snow?

It's snowing? Frau looked back. Maybe trying to look where he had come from, but found nothing except trees and grass, covered by snow. He looked around, studying his environment. Silent. Nothing. He turned his head to his feet. Ice? Just what the heck is going on?

The place looked familiar. Ice, snow, mountains. Danza sobre hielo.

What was he doing here? He thought that he was taken away. Guido and Kreuz. He remembered seeing them. Remembered falling in the arms of the one he loves, Tiashe. No, Teito… Teito? Teito. Teito. Am I remembering?

"No. Not completely, Frau." A voice spoke. The voice that resembles that of an angel. The sweet nectar of flowers.

"Tiashe?"

"You can call me Teito now, Frau. You are remembering."

"Am I still asleep?" Frau asked, confused.

"Yes. Unconscious, more specifically. What you are currently looking at is part of your soul forgotten. Let's have a look. Shall we." The boy said and disappeared into thin air, leaving the stunned blond behind.

Unconscious? So, what am I to do? Stare at snow? At ice? At sky or the two children? Wait… children? Why do they both look so familiar? A pang of pain ran through Frau's head. He cursed, Fuck! Not again! But a little while later, the pain subsided and was able to focus better. He then again caught the two children. A brunette and a blond.

"We shouldn't go there, Frau! It is not safe!" the brunette exclaimed. Frau? That's me? Then the other boy had to be…

"Don't worry. You're with me! I will keep you safe, Teito!" Frau assured.

"Fine… but only for a little while" the boy said, though his face showed the emotion that he was completely against the idea.

The elder Frau saw that the kids walked up to the bench nearby and wore their skates. The place was empty and silent, compared to the one he had just visited. The kid Frau was the first to step on the ice, followed by the brunette. "Look. It's alright! The ice is not gonna break! I assure you." he said as he skated with such precession, making every turn and twist simply perfect and danced with grace. While the brunette in turn reluctantly bust moved from here and there. "Come on, Teito! Dance with me!"

The prince sighed but nodded. He skated closer to Frau and started circling him, but then stopped. "It feels bland. There is no music"

The small blond's eyes lit up and exclaimed, "I'll sing for you! I will sing and you will dance, you have always been better than me at that! Okay?" with a silent agreement, Frau began.

Every morning, I feel the breeze
The sun washes over me...
The sound of water, the crashing sea
Is it only me…that feels alive
It's all ahead on me

As the younger blond sang, the brunette closed his eyes, relishing the beautiful moment and started. He swayed as the lyrics entered his ears in the most soothing manner, as though each and every word was soft embrace. He skated, blue eyes watching his each and every move, each twist, and loop, sent a swirl of happiness through the heart of the younger blond. This expression didn't go unseen by the elder Frau, who was still watching the entire scene with heavy eyes.

The eldest blond, realized that the feeling that he had been keeping canned inside himself for so long, were of the time way past than he remembers. His love and attraction to the prince was not something that he had wanted, but was something much more. He desired, needed him, craved for him, but most of all, he loved him. Loved him with all and more a man can give to any person in their entire life. These feeling were not new; they are from the time he had first laid his eyes on the brunette.

He noticed that his younger-self himself moved towards the dancing boy and began to dance too. Closing his eyes, he continued to sing the lyrics and swayed along softly.

'Cause it feels so right...
Jus open your eyes and see that…

Life is beautiful [so beautiful]
So beautiful to me
Life can take you anywhere
You don't know where it leads you
But you know you're not alone
Just open your eyes and see that…

The song ended, the blond however was in a different mood. He began singing the song which is despised by most people on the green planet.

I'm a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world
Life in plastic, it's fantastic.
You can brush my hair, undress me everywhere.
Imagination, life is your creation.

That made the elder Frau laugh out loud, for once he was glad that he couldn't be heard or seen. He wasn't the only one; the prince was also laughing his ass off. Even as a kid he loved to mess up with different songs, but who was he to complain, it was a hobby that got him to where he was today. But what really caught them was what the blond had said next and in what manner were the words spoken.

Come on Barbie, let's go party!

The voice was rough and sounded like a dying eel, but was enough to catch Teito off-guard and he lost his footing. The prince slid fast down on the ice to the central part of Gran Lago. The part that was a lot more fragile and not frozen completely. The younger Frau gasped in horror, as he saw the ice cracking beneath the brunette.

The elder blond was not better than his counterpart. He was stuck, frozen in his place.

"Teito! Wait! Don't go over there!"

"Sorry Frau. I slipped. Don't worry, I am coming ba-!" Teito exclaimed as the ice surface broke. The brunette felt the cold water seeping through his feet, he began crying. He let out an agonizing scream.

The younger Frau couldn't handle seeing the boy in the state, he rushed forward. "Tiashe!" he yelled as he stretched his arm for the boy to hold on to. The prince quickly caught the hold of the blond's arm and was pulled forward. The blond pulled him closer, feeling the cold of the boy's hands which were warm. The pull unfortunately caused something that the prince regretted his entire life. The incident that changed everything. Due to the force of the pull and slipperiness of the icy surface, Teito was pulled back but Frau, however was the one to have fallen in the ice water instead.

"Frau!" the prince screamed, as he saw his friend, the man that bought happiness in his life, fall into the freezing water, just to save his life. What did he do to deserve that? Why was he saved instead? What should he do now? That was all he thought, not realizing all the commotion around him, as Guido and his uncle came around. He didn't even notice as Guido himself had jumped in the water and was carrying the cold and unconscious body of Frau.

Teito cried and cried, he tried to push away his uncle who was trying to wrap him around his own warm jacket and embraced him. "Don't cry my prince; it was not your fault." Kreuz said softly.

"It was! If I hadn't gone there it wouldn't have happened! The ice wouldn't have started to crack! If I wouldn't have called for help, Frau wouldn't have fallen into the water! It is my fault!" he continued to weep in sorrow and screamed when he saw that Frau's head was bleeding and his eyes were closed.

The elder Frau continued watching the scene unfold with wide eyes. Is that what happened? He thought as he turned to look at himself being carried in the arms of his father. Cold, wet and still. He didn't give Guido credit he deserves. He saved him from drowning in that cold icy water.

The older blond felt warm and wet, realizing that his eyes had let hot tears flow. His legs felt weak. He fell forward on his knees and palms, the pain being shielded by the loud shrieks of cries and screams coming out of the mouth of the young and unstable prince. The scene around him changed again, leaving him in a white room. He felt a palm on his shoulder, giving him reassurance, that everything will be okay. "I am sorry, Frau. If it wasn't for me, you would not have to suffer like this."

"No! It wasn't! If… If I had listened to you, none of this might have happened in the first place! I am the one who is supposed to be sorry, Tiashe." Frau said, his face red and warm with tears. The prince gave a gentle smile and pulled the man into a warm embrace, settling the elder man's face just above his beating heart. The boy placed his own head on Frau's hair, taking in the blond's sent.

"I think you should go back." Said the brunette, taking the singer by surprise.

"What?! NO! You…. you can't! I wanna learn more! I can't live without you! Please let me remember!" the man insisted as more tears ran down his beautiful place.

"No, Frau. You can't handle this yet. Just…. A few more days, love. Then everything will be alright. You need to go, make your love stronger and prove that you both belong with each other. Only then will I unlock the seal. Now go"

Dark. That was all the eyes could see. His body felt heavier and more, alive. Frau tried to move his body, but felt too exhausted. He did feel someone's palm beneath his own and wondered, to whom would such a small hand belong to? They were so tiny compared to his own gigantic ones, they were warm and he felt the need to fall deeper into that fervour. The other person was gently rubbing their thumb over Frau's palm, the blond couldn't resist it and mirrored the action which caused the other one to stop and let out a surprised gasp.

Frau heard a few rounds of commotion playing in the background, by the time he learnt to ignore them and lay back to the loving warmth; he realized that the physical contact was gone. He blindly searched for the hand but just couldn't find it. He finally gave up and slowly opened his eyes. He expected to be greeted by a pair of emerald green pools, but he was instead met with the shining golden eyes. They sparkled with joy and enthusiasm when their eyes intersected and gave a gleeful smile, showing off his shiny white teeth.

The kid had pale blond hair and golden amber eyes which gleamed like twinkling stars. He had a dirty looking scar on his right cheek, however it did little to curtail the young man's beauty. Frau let his eyes wander over the boy and saw that the boy was quiet fit and lean. He sensed that if that boy was to ever enter into the fashion industry he would leave every top model to shambles.

Just as wild thoughts ran through Frau's mind he suddenly realized that he was in fact checking the boy out; this led to the other blond smirking. It was then did the boy speak, "Hello! I am, Mikage, Tiashe's BFF! Nice to meet you, Frau." He said as he brought his hands forward for a shake.

Frau, knowing noting what else to do, just stared at the hand offered, in a daze. Seemingly thinking what was happening. When he was finally able to get his thoughts together, he took the hand in his own and greeted the boy, who just went ahead and screamed at the top of his lungs which caused Frau closed his eyes and held his palms to his ears to block out the noise, "Tiashe!"

It was then when the door slammed open and walked in the tired looking prince and another man beside him. The prince was dressed in casual black jeans and a green polo shirt, which in no way seemed less gorgeous or princely on the lad; but who was Frau to say otherwise, to him, the prince would look like an angel even if he wore nothing but rags, or nothing at all.

The man on the other hand had glasses on and wore a doctor's garb. He was a doctor no doubt, with a case as big as the one he was carrying; Frau guessed that he was here to check him up.

"Stop screaming, Mikage. I had gone to get the doctor, so that he can- Frau, you are up?" the prince commented.

The said blond tiredly rubbed his eyes and silently nodded as he tried to get up and sit. "What had happened?"

"You don't remember? Are you alright, does your head hurt?" the young brunette asked with a worried tone and Frau nodded again as the answer. "Don't you worry, Frau. The doctor is here."

The doctor moved forward towards the bed and opened up his bag, removing a stethoscope and putting them on. He went ahead and did a quick check up, asking the blond a few questions, "You seem fine, physically. Can you tell me what was the last thing you remember?" the doctor asked.

"I do remember going to Danza sobre hielo with the prince. Then suddenly there was an excruciating pain in my head and I felt… dizzy. Then I remember seeing the warning seals which I had mistakenly torn down." He replied and continued, "And I think there were voices."

"Voices?" the doctor asked, surprised.

"Yes, of two children. They looked oddly familiar."

"Can you put a name to those faces?"

"It may seem a bit weird, but I think that it were definitely me and the prince. There is no mistaking it!" Frau said as he looked directly into Tiashe's own eyes which were wide with shock.

"If I am not mistaken, , you had gotten into an accident when younger and had badly injured your head, resulting into the loss of your memories? Am I correct?" the doctor asked as he scribbled down something on his notepad.

"….Yes, you are correct" Frau answered reluctantly, not wanting to hear anything about that incident he just saw with his own eyes, be it a dream or not, that was reality and he was learning everything little by little.

The doctor sighed and said, "I think, Mr. Frau, you are on your way to recovery. You might slowly be getting your memories back. As for your medication, I will book an appointment for you with a doctor who deals with such cases as yours, I know one personally and she is the best in the field I can think of in Raggs, and a few tablets to help with your migraines. Just have two daily, after breakfast and dinner. I wish you good luck on your journey ahead." The doctor said as he added the last part and walked out, leaving everyone in the room stunned at what just happened.

Mikage was the first to jolt with happiness, "Congratulation, pal!" he said, hitting Frau's back with good humour, "Thank god for this, I was getting tired of Teito's constant angst-y whining anyways."

"Mikage! You can't say that!" the prince exclaimed, blushing and Frau gave a confused look. "Don't listen to anything this idiot says, Frau, he will mess your mind up just like his very own!"

"But you are the one who always acts like a little bitch. You are always going, Frau can't remember me, or, what am I supposed to do if he doesn't lo-"

"That's enough you stupid blond! Why don't you go and bother Hakuren?! Oh! I am quite sure that he will be more than happy for obtaining your attention, considering you have that big love bite on your shoulder for the whole world to see." Teito said with a teasing smirk and now it the blond's turn to blush a beautiful crimson.

"I don't know what you are talking about, pal." Mikage said as he chuckled, albeit awkwardly, covering his neck with his hands. "I think that it's time for me to go, yes? Sorry, Frau, I couldn't spend more time with you. But I promise that the next time we meet I would definitely tell you some of our grace's most ungraceful blunders of childhood, and OH! Also his baby pictures!"

Frau's face gleamed up with the words 'baby pictures', however it had a completely opposite effect on the young prince who stood there with eyes that were wide with horror and was shaking his head as to get his point across, that no one, no matter who it was, would not have the privilege to look at such juvenile pictures. But alas, who was he to say? His mother just had to barge in into the room and gave the two blonds the full out permission to look at whatever pictures or videos they wanted to, be it the King and Queen's weeding album or the little prince's baby photos.

Not to say, the shorter blond was shielding his entire being from the arrows of death glares which were aimed towards him, and the archer being none other than the pissed of prince. And therefore the amber eyed male had dug his own grave.

The annoying voices of girly giggles echoed through the main hall of the castle, but what was to notice was that the owner of the voice was a full grown man, reaching above six feet and whose body underneath those covers was covered in nothing but muscle. No matter how out of character the voice sounded, they were like honey to the little prince's ears.

It had been a long time since he had last heard Frau's laugh, so open and happy. He wanted to cherish it, and even if it meant that he had to show off his embarrassing kid photos, he would do just that and more. That was how much he was in love with that man. He had waited so long, countless hours, days and years. Every day he would fall asleep wondering about the whereabouts of the elder man, how was he, or, has he remembered me yet?

Sure Guido kept him updated, but this was just as much as he could do; it's for keeping him safe, don't worry, we will be back, he used to say. Some of those days he would stay up all night and think about various stuff, like how would they spend their time when he returns or where will they go out. Would they confess to each other about their undying love or forget each other and move on with their lives. There were the thoughts that always plagued his mind, but now that he was actually here, the brunette had no idea what to do or where to go. Even if they did, the media would go around making all kinds of weird assumptions about his private life and what not. But if he were to go out with Frau, it would be hell to deal with the media, because Frau being the lead singer of the world's biggest band and he being the prince of the almost magical kingdom, the paparazzi would hunt them down like lions with their prey. He was frustrated with this place, this palace, this world and universe, but most of all he was frustrated at himself.

He hated being the prince. No matter what he did, whether it was playing golf or even baking a cake, there were article written about them just the very next day, and that irked him to no boundaries. He was not allowed to go anywhere alone, he was always followed by Karan or had to hang around with Hakuren or Mikage. He was never left alone, that was the reason he had to take Mikage along with him to the Barsburg Kingdom to witness the Band during their last concert in the 7th district. He didn't mind Mikage, but Karan was adamant about going with him as well!

But I guess that's what the life of a prince is all about, being home schooled for the first half of your life, being followed all the time at collage or anywhere else and living like a prisoner in your own home. Just what everyone wisher for.

But for now, he was content with hearing the blond laughing and smiling just across him with the big album in his hands, accompany him on this rocky road of obstacles and to help him overcome them.
