To start this off sorry for being late, it was hard to do this chapter justice and as such I am switching up my writing style a bit, and besides I wasn't that...oh…wow. A week late huh, well that's not bad, riiiiight sweats nervously Please don't hurt me as I move this on to the usual starting Authors note. And sorry again.

Todd didn't take my offer and the Fallout franchise and her characters still don't belong to me. Thank you to the reviewers. Omega squad I certainly you mean wow in its better connotations(or was it denotations, hmmm). I have slavers in mind that are barbaric yet organized. Alright as always, if you liked the story please be sure to favorite and follow for more. And if you see something you like, didn't or could be improved upon please give a review. I can't get better if all I get are pats on the back.(Despite how much I love them). Now onto the show.

My head. It hurts so much. Thump thump That my heart. I can my heart to. Heh, that's usually not "Fucking hell kid. Stay with us." Sounds like Jericho. What happened last I remember I was shutting off the generato-. Alex's thoughts paused for a moment I was shot. And not in the hip like in the trenches, no. This time, he hit me in the chest. I was dying. NO, NO. I couldn't have!?

Alex's eyes burst open as he shot up, only to lie down and close his eyes again due to the blinding white light. "What the he-" He was interrupted as he felt a weight slam into him.
"I'm so happy you're alright!" The voice he instantly knew as Amata sobbed into his shoulder. Clover stood on the sidelines wanting to embrace him but knowing it would be both untoward and unwelcome. Alex embraced Amata back, and like everytime they embrace all time stands still. The hypnosis was soon broken by the same rough voice of their, at best morally grey mentor.

"Glad you're alright. From what we saw you made it just in time." Once the shock wore off Alex heard and felt his heart. He let go of Amata and clutched it. It was pounding and it hurt like hell. "Relax. Deep breaths." Jericho said. "You're on the verge of a heart attack. Seen it in new recruits, right now just breathe slowly and think calming thoughts."

It took Alex a minute, but he breathed deeply and thought of his life with Amata and the twins in the vault. Once his heart stopped trying to escape his chest he hugged Amata again albeit much more breifly than as to last time. He stood and helped her up before asking Jericho "What happened? I just remember trying to turn off the generator and it all went black."

"Simple. You got close enough to death I'm surprised you didn't kiss the devil. We could what you guys were doing in that place. Ahlashka I think it was called. We also saw things that said they monitored your heart rate. You got shot a few times and it went high, really high."
"You died." Clover said from the edge of the group. "It happened as you pressed the button."

Alex chuckled a bit. "Well, I'm not dead just yet. How as everyone else?" Jericho answered first.

"Well Amata was a good shot, until the guy next to her had another hole added to his head. She eventually got a hold of herself and planted the bombs." Amata froze at the mention of the death of her spotter. Alex sensed her tense up and held her hand. Such a small gesture went a long way.

"Then there's fucking Gomez. Took on three of those dragons by himself in hand to hand. Makes me think there's hope yet." Clover was next to speak. She spoke a little louder this time.

"You were great to. I mean you did lead a lot of men, and continued on despite the sacrifice. I think it made you a good leader." All eyes turned to her as she then seemed to shrink in the light of attention.

Thankfully for her, her moment in the spotlight was over soon as Gomex entered. "Guys, you have to see this. The armory, it's exactly what we needed." Gomez said in a tone similar to kid at Christmas.

"That's right, we have to remember why we came here. Gomez lead the way." Gomez left and they all followed to the elevator. Alex checked his Pip-boy to see how much time has passed.Eight hours. Unbelievable. It felt like a day and then some. Alex was shaken from his thoughts as he saw the entrance to the armory. There was a computer by the door with a slot for a Pip-Boy hook up.

Alex hooked up and received a map and inventory of the armory. The lay out was large. Larger than the vault, all floors put together several times over. It was about four stories deep with a new elevator across the hall. Level one was infantry and shock weapons and armor. Level two was listed a the robotics floor. Level three was listed as vehicles and data vault. The final floor was listed as manufacturing. The list read as follows

Alex near fainted when he saw this. "Everyone come look at this!" Everyone but Gomez approached. Gomezing looking a little too proud of himself. Clover gave a very confused look at the Pip-boy. Sure she could read, but not such big words. She secretly hoped Alex or anyone would explain it to her. Her wish was granted.
"Over 4000 weapons in this place. That's enough to make a fuckin army!" Jericho yelled "Oh boy. Simmes was right about this place. Imagine what we could do with all those bots at our disposal, we could run the damn NCR." Cogs were turning in Jericho's head, in a direction no one in the group liked. Amata was the next to speak.

"This is more than enough bots to save Megaton and keep it safe. Only problem is how do we control them" Gomez spoke up.
"It's not to hard. I did some digging and only the senior most officers are allowed to program commands into the bots. Since every other officer is officially MIA tha leaves us. We are the commanding officers in the base and as such have full control." Gomez said in a "matter of factly" tone. He clearly did more than "some" digging.

"No. I don't think just using the bots is smart. I think we should us about 150 to 200 bots. And send a weapons shipment in the APC's. It keeps a bit in reserve and helps Megaton look out for itself." Alex stated. Amata opened her mouth to disagree but was cut off by the rough former raider.
"I don't know what and APC is, but I think Alex is right. At the very least we help that little city defend itself, not to mention you guys would have to live there all your lives to look after the bots. Not to mention if you ever need to send bots anywhere else, you don't risk Megaton. There's also the problem of how the fuck are we gonna fit all those bots there."

As much as Amata wanted to disagree there wasn't time and she conceded they had a good point. She had one question however "Who here knows how to drive an APC?" Clover and Jericho still not knowing what one was.
"Don't have to." Gomez answers "They're self piloting. Anyone else have any questions?" No one could think of any. "Alright. Lets get some bots programed. I looked through a few, and I would recommend only the Assaultrons and . Sentry bots are to big and bulky, we'd never make it back in time."

It didn't take long to find the programing terminal with the maps, and when they got there they were shocked by the simplicity of it all. The terminal was on a balcony that overlooked a bare room. Well that's not whole correct. The room was larger than a football field. While the room was bare it had hundreds of robots that littered it in straight lines. It looks like they expected more robots.

A few settings needed to be readjusted such as friendly and causality fire. But overall the robots appeared ready to take orders. The agreed number was 175. With one hundred of those being Assaultrons and 75 being .
"Are you sure about this Alex. I mean I know we have to but, I'm scared." Amata said in a concerned tone behind him.
"Well over 150 robots are going to turn on, either they obey you three or we all die fast. Either way beats doing nothing." Jericho said nonchalantly as Alex then glared at him as he put his hand over Amata's.
"Don't worry it's going to work." He said in a steele calm tone that betrayed how he actually felt. Nonetheless it calmed Amata down a bit. They all waited on baited breath for Gomez to enter the wake command. "Gomez I know now is late to ask, but should I fire up one of the experimental AI's"
Gomez took a minute and said "Sure. Just one to see how the AI reacts. Is that all" Gomez said with a bit of sarcasm. But Alex chalked it up to nerves and gestured to him to turn the robots on. He almost had a second heart attack as red eyes came to life, and jet thrusters activated. They all jumped back, but the robots didn't move. Except three. A sky blue Assaultron, a with a gold star on his side, and a suit of Power Armor.

The group was on edge yet didn't raise their weapons, however they didn't take their fingers off of either. The blue robot spoke first "Hello. This unit is ADA or Advanced Defense Assaultron. I will coordinate your orders with the other Assaultrons." As ADA finished it was evidently the turned to speak.

"Hello Sirs. Sergeant RL-3 reporting for duty. You tell me what you want us to do. I make sure we get it done." He than lifted his buzzsaw blade in a slute manner. Alex was the first to catch on and set him at ease. The last robot spoke, but it didn't sound like a robot. It sounded feminine and rather beautiful in a lyrical sense.

"Hello my name is EDI or External Defense Interface. Awaiting orders" The armor stood stock still. Noone in the group knew what to expect, but it certainly wasn't that. They were frozen for a minute before Alex ordered.
"Load up 100 units worth of infantry gear into 10 APCs Than load the active units into 20 APCs await further orders".
"Affirmative"

"Yes Sir!"
"Alright" EDI finished "I estimate it will take little more than 40 minutes to finish these orders.
All the activated bots left in a scarily orderly fashion to the freight elevators and went up. However the three spokes bots if you can call them that, stayed. "Why aren't you loading up with the others." This time it was EDI who spoke.

"Our parameters fall within personal defense of our commanding officers and providing a line of communication the bulk of the armed robotic units. We are to be at your defense unless specified otherwise." The spoke up and he rotated his arms.
"Officers unfamiliar with protocol is very unbecoming and detrimental to the US military. With all do respect you best shape up soldiers!"

It was EDI's turn to speak "I assume we are preparing for a military operation as opposed to a simple arms transfer to another base. If so will you be coming along?" It was a good question, going along now would be needlessly dangerous when the robots could be controlled form here. But one thing would ensure Alex and Amata would go, the twins.

Gomez knew they were going to go, he also thought that someone should stay and learn the inner workings of this place, after all within these walls lied the potential to bring back order to a now chaotic world.. He turned to Alex and said "I think you and everyone else should go. You have more than enough and I know you want to see the twins and make sure they're safe ASAP."

Alex wasn't having it. "Come on Gomez. We need every hand on deck now. We need your help. Besides we'll have plenty of time to find this places secrets when we get back." Gomez wanted to stay, but he wanted to help Alex more and relented.

"Alright. I'll go."

They were all loaded in the APC as the convoy moved out to the coordinates Alex's Pip-boy sent. Due to infrastructure damage it will take about a day and a half. The garage lets out at through a subway tunnel. Never in 200 years had automotives graced the roads of DC, now these relics would usher in a new era.
The group was heavily reflecting on past events. With the exception of the simulation no one here had ever seen a car in motion, much less APCs on a mission. Alex felt like he was going to crack under the pressure. It had been little over a week since he left the vault, now he was bringing a small army of robots in actual working vehicles. Alex didn't know how long he was thinking until EDI spoke.

"We are approaching the target destination. I would recommend stopping outside target location to survey terrain and form a field plan. The maps indicate a small hill that can keep our forces hidden as we scout and plan. Is this an acceptable order to send to the assault robots?"
"Sure" Alex said as he returned to his thoughts and eventually fell asleep in the APC, normally he wouldn't have been able to fall asleep to the rocking, but he was to tired and needed the rest now.

When he opened his eyes he was back in the trenches. Have to rush forward. I just need to get to the end. He felt a hand on his back, he turned and saw Morrigan.

"Come on" Morrigan yelled over the battle, "You have to move forward, we all die if you don't." He then rushed forward with Alex in right behind him. Reds at every turn, but him and Jonas were to quick. With the Army right at their back, it was looking like an easy victory… until Morrigan turned the corner and fire erupted from the hall he ran down. A scream rang out in Alex's ears, but it wasn't Morrigan's, it belonged to voice he knew for much longer.

He heard Jonas scream, and it was agonizing, but Alex had to move forward. He ran down the trenches running and gunning, just numb to it all. FUCKING RED ANIMALS Alex yelled inside his head as he saw a Crimson dragon running one of Alex's men through the abdomen with a sword. Alex killed him soon afterwards, so quickly the blade hadn't left the soldier. Alex ran over to the dead man to collect his dog tags.

The man's face was beaten and unrecognizable Bastards. Alex reached down to his neck and recognized his dog tags. Frederick "Freddie" Gomez. Alex backed away, before he could make sense of it all he heard Amata yell "NO STOP!" He turned to see her just before she was shot. As Alex ran to her, a Red appeared from around the corner of a turn and hit him with he stock of the his rifle. Alex stared down the barrel before it all went black again.

Alex shot up, sweating profusely gasping for breath looking for his wife. When he saw her resting on his shoulder starting to stir he relaxed.
Your heart race is racing. I would recommend calming exercises, water and possibly medication. ADA said as her red "eye" stared right at him still studying him. Alex took her advice and took a minute to breathe deeply as he relaxed, while Amata started resting easy again. Heart rate has returned to normal parameters ADA said still staring at Alex.
Alex took a few more minutes to calm himself before getting refocused on the task at hand. He looked around and saw Jericho next to the 'sleeping' RL-3. Alex remembered them talking about firearms before he fell asleep. EDI sat looking straight ahead staying as still as a statue. Unfortunately to be expected Clover was asleep at his feet. ADA sat the closest to the APC exit with Gomez on her left. "How long till we unload?" Alex asked when he got a feel of the space.
3 hours and 27 minutes
"Okay. To be clear the place we are being to deployed to is a city under siege, we are being sent to lift said siege. Everyone in this group is going to sneak into the city with the supplies and plan with its defenders. Meanwhile the rest of the bots survey the area and the attackers. Clear?"
Yes Sir. I would recommend you return to sleep, battles usually require a fit mind.

Alex nodded, he was tired even though he slept but he needed to sleep. Even if it wouldn't do much good he closed his eyes and dozed off, hoping he wouldn't dream again.
It felt as if no sooner he closed his eyes he was being shaken awake hearing Amatas voice come through "Come on Alex. Wake up, were here." Alex stirred awake quickly and looked at Amata as she ceased to shake him. "ADA tells me you have a plan." Alex got to his feet as he left the APC through the open exit.
"Yea I do, I'll explain when we find the others." Alex said as he left the APC to shield his eyes from the sun.

"Finally, never thought sleeping beauty here would wake" Jericho said standing next to RL-3

"Indeed It is most unbecoming of an officer to oversleep and keep his men waiting. On another note I do agree with you , hit and run tactics are best way to attack supply lines" Great Alex thought Guess RL-3 isn't my biggest fan

"Alright Alex what's the plan?" Amata questioned as she moved from behind him to ADA's side. Gomez appeared from around the corner from an APC further back with EDI next to him. Clover was right next Alex, how she got there so quickly and quietly he didn't know. But the show must go on.

"Alright the plan is simple, or rather unformed. The bulk of the army stay here as we get back inside the city and find a way to get the gear inside the city. We'll need to get about 60 units in there right now. While the robots scan the grounds and slavers."
EDI spoke up "Officer Gomez and I did preliminary sweeps over the rear of the designation known as Megaton. I believe I have found a way into the city through old sewer systems if the water can turn off the water we can transfer the supplies there from a sewer entrance a mile away."
"How many robots would it take?" Alex asked
"Not many enough to have a significant effect if we attack right afterwards. I would recommend Assaultrons since they are the more well supplied unit. A single Assaultron can carry 5 units of infantry equipment so 12 would be taken."
"Good. Make the arrangements to send 12 units into position at the sewer entrance. While we take the smaller hidden entrance."

Lucas let out an almost insane laugh as Alex explained what had happened, "Damn I can't believe you not only found the place, got the stuff, but than decided 'eh that wasn't enough' and got an army of robots with you." Lucas said between laughs. "We set some equipment aside for you and the group of course." He said as he settled down. About half the deputies don't know how to use these guns, but Jericho is showing 'em."

Alex was eager to leave and was inching towards the door. The second they returned to the cities Gomez went with ADA to find out who to talk to, so they could shut down the water. RL-3 and Jericho left to train the deputies in use of the weapons and tactics. EDI was at the top of the wall doing her own and coordinating the scans of the other robots. Amata left to find their kids and Alex told Clover to go with her.

"Look kid, take a break. I'll talk with this EDI and form a plan, from how you described EDI, it shouldn't be hard to find. Take a moment to be with your wife and kids. If we need you we'll find you. Now outta here." Lucas said as he pointed towards the door.

Alex chuckled as he quickly walked to the door. "Yes sir." and damn near ran towards his home. Many heads turned as a man in a leather plated vault suite ran, but he didn't care. He got home to see his wife on her knees hugging their kids.

"Daddy!" Nora shouted as she ran towards Alex. He picked her up and ran towards John and Amata. They all hugged for about half an hour before releasing to eat. That night John and Nora asked if they could sleep with their parents. Usually Amata and Ale would deny this request, in an effort to get them to grow up, but not this time. They all slept in the same bed that night, with Clover on the floor next to them, when he was in a deep sleep Clover snuck her hand into his, it offered her some comfort as she slept next to the bed.

Alex woke up to a banging on the bedroom door. "Alex, Amata it's time. We got a plan" Alex removed his hand from Clover's, to preoccupied to think it strange right now as he shook Amata awake. Clovers eyes shot open as Alex's hand left her own, but she didn't leave her position and waited for her orders. Gomez continued as they got up "Come on, I got your gear in the living room." Gomez finished as he left down the stairs.
"Uh, I think one of us should stay with the kids." Alex said as he fastened his boots. Amata was torn between defending her husband making sure her children were safe and didn't panic. Clover would do whatever she was asked. "Amata, I know this is a lot to ask, but can you do it."
Amata looked shocked that he would ask that of her, but slightly relieved. "Okay just stay alive alright" She said as she walked over to give him a hug and a kiss. Once it was over she looked at Clover and said "You keep him safe alright." Clover nodded eagerly.

They went down stairs and everyone got geared up in the standard infantry gear in the simulation. To Alex, Amata and Gomez it was scary to each of them how comfortable they felt with these weapons, and the dealing with the weight of the armor was truly like wearing an old glove. Alex and Amata shared on last hug as the rest headed to the sheriff's office. It was dark, probably just after midnight.
"Is this everyone, where is the third officer" ADA asked as they entered
"Uh yes, Amata is on a private mission. Proceed with the plan." EDI was the next to speak.
"A plan has been formulated. After scans done by me and various units we have determined a few things. One is the exact size of the enemy force is 576 men. We have a total fighting force of 57 local law enforcement. 2 officers, 2 free lancers, and a total robot force comprised of 426 combined Assaultron, units. We can expect no reinforcements from outside sources.
Outlying factors include a flat terrain, 30 APCs in immediate range and 10 a short range away. The enemy has 13 heavy weapons capable of doing damage to the primary defense and the APCs. The weapons are stored together in a tent on the camps far corner. Something that was observed and added on by the Sheriff was the chain of command and the fragility of command.

Many of the Slavers are using slaves as the primary fighting force, by observing them it was clear the slaves are very fanatical towards them. Slavers are clearly defined as having better arms and armor. It is theorized the slaves are highly dependent on their masters for orders and moral, if they are removed quickly the battle can be fast and decisive.

The plan is to have the wall defenders and our small strike force of 12 Assaultrons try and leave the city immediately and destroy the heavy weapons. They are to critical to leave in the battle for prolonged periods of time. The time of night should help in their mission, however should they fail, we can keep the heavy weapons suppressed from the wall. They are expecting weaker and older weapons than what we have equipped and planned their camp accordingly. While less optimal we can keep their heavy weapons out of range from the wall.

While the heavy weapons are either destroyed or kept out of proper use we have the total of Assaultrons and ambush the camp in the APCs, without the heavy weapons the Slavers have nothing that can critically damage the APCs. We have them fight the bulk of the enemy while forces from the wall hit Slaver leaders." As she finished she stared at Alex "Is this plan acceptable?"
Alex saw little flaw in the plan though he knew was no professional tactician and as such decided to leave thing like that to the men and bots who were built for them. Alex nodded and instantly ADA said "Good, Operation codenamed Megaton is ready we just need an officer's approval"
Alex nodded and said "The operation has been approved start ASAP"
"Done. It will take an estimated 30 minutes for the 12 Assaultrons to be in position to destroy heavy weaponry. I would recommend getting local law enforcement to the wall"
"Good." Lucas said still wearing his iconic coat. "I'll see y'all at the top, I need to get the remainder of deputies up and ready." He than left
Alex spoke next "Alright everyone you heard ADA on the wall." he ordered as he lead the way out of the office. As they reached the wall Jericho pulled him aside and told him "If we get in scrap down there I don't want you or anyone else firing on the heavy weapons, you are to go after the leaders only."
Of course Alex had to ask "Why?"
"Full of questions fine, I see how you carry that weapon, you've changed a bit since the simulation. I want you and Gomez helping me go after the commanders. Besides you'll probably hit a war head and kill the bots." Jericho said walking away to Gomez. All that was left was the wait. Alex aimed his gun over at the invaders and preemptively looked for the masters among the slaves.

Half an hour on the damn dot Jericho thought as he suddenly heard an explosion, he didn't see it through the scope, but he saw what he assumed to be the head of the Slaver raid start to panic.
"Heavy weapons have been rendered useless. I would recommend not firing until the flanking force is closer."
"No way." Alex thought I can't believe that actually worked, looks like the plan might actually go off without a hitch"
EDI spoke next "I would recommend firing precision shots at the enemy leadership in the enemy encampment."
"Come on you ten that's our que" Jericho said as he shouldered his rifle and aim it. Aim for now, let's just wait a minute and all fire at the same time. Alex, Gomez, Lucas, and the other 7 deputies aimed their rifles and waited for an opportunity.
"Now" Jericho near whispered, but they all heard it. 11 guns went off at once and 7 bodies fell. 1 missed and two hit the same person, but nonetheless it sent the leadership into disarray. But it really was going to well.

"Alert, flanking force has hit an obstacle that has disabled most of the APCs, most of the mobilized force is currently slowed" RL-3 suddenly erupted. To add insult to injury the Slavers had gotten somewhat organized and started firing on the wall. Alex took cover as he yelled.

"How long will it take for the flanking forces to get here!" He peeked over the wall and squeezed off a few shots, and was sure he hit someone when he went back, given the hole that appeared next to him it was the right choice.

"Our forces didn't find hidden mines on the flanks, our will do just fine, it should take them half an hour to get here. The Assaultrons however estimate it will take them an extra 20-40 minutes to find safe paths through and naturally move slower."
Great, are good and all, but they don't have the fire power or armor Assaultrons have. Hmm, I got it. "Tell the to keep a distance from the Slavers and engage in hit and runs until the Assaultrons arrive.

"Yes sir. And Remember we have 12 Assaultrons down there."

"I know, keep them in reserve" Alex said as he went over cover to fire again. As he went down he saw a deputy clutch his chest as his head then exploded, his body finally feel down. Alex saw Jonas again, but the sound of Jericho's gun going off next to him broke him out of it.
"Keep your head in the game!" Jeriho yelled as he ducked again. "There making progress towards the wall, they may not have the heavy weapons, but that don't mean the walls are safe."
Alex didn't respond with words, but with a nod followed by him going over cover to fire again. The slavers were making progress, but the fact they weren't prepared for as many automatic rifles as there were, every time anyone made ten yards of the wall they were mowed down. It was bloody, and seemingly hopeless, but then the arrived, he knew the second he saw the iconic green plasma blast. It caught the Slavers off guard and Alex saw his chance.

"RL-3 tell the reserve Assaultrons to attack now!"
"Yes sir" RL-3 said as he fired another shot over the wall, his plasma gun was only good for short range, which sadly he was getting to use it more often.

Assaultron head lasers from one side and plasma blasts from another were enough to throw the Slavers off their game for now. The wall defenders could ease up again and target commanders. Some slaves started running away. At least the battle looked still winnable. Alex rose to fire again when something happened. He heard a creak and the section of the wall he was standing at gave way. He and Jericho fell from the wall to the front of the gate.

"FUCK!" Jericho yelled, from the looks of it he landed on his arm, and it did not look good. Alex tried to get up but then felt the ground shake. He couldn't care less, he ran to Jericho and tried to carry him. As soon as he got to him he was pushed aside by a giant hand. It was EDI, she then picked up Jericho and ran to a medium sized boulder she used for cover for her and Jericho. Alex woke up from his shock and ran to the nearest boulder to him, after a very quick sweep he found a boulder on the opposite side of the road.

Alex had only one choice, keep firing at anyone who came near. EDI was doing a great job with Jericho's rifle, but now Jericho had a busted arm, and no weapon. Alex took his pistol from his side holster and threw it at Jericho and EDI. It fell next to Jericho and he reached for it while cradling his arm. Jericho inches towards the edge of the boulder and fired from cover.

Damn it Alex thought as he realised he was running out of ammo, he had 5 shots and one more mage left. Alex was firing less and less to conserve ammo, and EDI gave him an update that the Assaultrons were overwhelmed. It was all going down hill very quickly and Alex thought it was hopeless for him and Jericho until EDI reported "The Assaultron flanking unit has arrived." In what felt like seconds compared to what was happening before the enemy was on retreat. Like that the siege was lifted.

When Lucas was sure the Slaveres were in full retreat he opened the gate for the three soldiers trapped outside. As the gate opened Alex turned to EDI and asked her "Can you take Jericho to the doctors"
Before EDI could respond Jericho spoke getting up "Nah, it's fine, just my arm they didn't get my legs." Jericho said as he walked to the gates. The opened soon and Clover shot to Alex's side hugging him and crying almost hysterically. He tried in vain to comfort her, and he couldn't get her to calm down until he flat out told her to and she did, in an instant with a smile on her face.

Looking at that smile and its implications was a scary thing for Alex to look at. But there was no time for that, he was alive, and he had a wife he need to tell the news to. Everything else could wait
