CHAPTER 8
The Heartfilia mansion was enormous.
That was the first observation made by her thuggish guests. The teens slipped out of Natsu's family limo, all dressed in formal attire. Slowly, the pink haired male appeared out of the vehicle's door, seemingly suiting his tux far better than those who surrounded him.
Cana whistled with a chuckle as Natsu ran his hand through his gelled back hair. "Lookin mighty fine there." She fixed the boobs that poured out of her golden dress. "Like a real fuckin heir. Who woulda thought."
Natsu adjusted his jacket, "Let's go."
Without a sound, the formal thugs walked up the palace's stairs and descended into the party.
As soon as the door opened, a waft of severely drenched perfume and cologne burned their noses. The diversity of the room was enormous. In one corner were a couple of famous billionaire CEOs, in the other were some well-known celebrities, some country leaders, then the faces of some underground bosses, all faces that belonged to the rich and the powerful.
"I feel like I just walked into Olympus." Sting whispered to Rogue who nodded in agreement.
"Get used to it." Loke spoke with upmost confidence. "A Heartfilia Party is one of the only full gatherings of all the powers in the world." He pushed up his glasses, "They have connections everywhere."
"Lucy's dad must be one scary dude." Laxus snickered.
"But," Loke folded his arms, "Is her dad really the center of these ties?" He pointed toward a familiar golden-haired girl surrounded by several people. "Because I don't see him in sight."
Natsu ran his teeth over his bottom lip in a grin at the sight of his beautiful prey. Lucy was smiling. Like she always was. With a mask so perfectly innocent, not even God could see through it.
But that body attached to it was nothing but sinful.
A long light blue dress was draped over Lucy figure, dangerously curving on her hips and tightening around her thin waist. Her breasts were visible between the long split between the chest of the gown. Silver that shimmered beneath the light decorated the middle of the dress and her glowing jewelry. A matching headpiece circled around her hair, her golden locks beautifully curled into a captivating up-do.
She was dangerous.
So incredibly dangerous.
Natsu took a glass of champagne from one of the passing waiters and sipped it, his eyes looking over her beautiful body over and over again. Erza lifted her brows at the musky passion radiating through Natsu's sexy onyx gaze. "What do you think her motive is, inviting us her?" The red-head whispered into her leader's ear.
The handsome heir sipped his drink, "I don't know." He grinned, his dangerous stare never wavering from Lucy's presence. "That's what makes it so amusing."
"Do I believe my eyes?" A voice spoke from directly in front of the pinkette as he tried to stalk Lucy's movements. Natsu stopped and looked down, meeting the gaze of a familiar man. "The young Dragneel appears at a Heartfilia party of all things. How interesting."
"Bora." A professional smile crossed over Natsu's pink lips. "Nice to see you again." The two shared a strong handshake.
Erza turned around with raised brows, exchanging a chuckling glance with the rest of her party. The racketeers all took this as a sign to get the hell out of there. And so they did.
Natsu nodded as he listened to the blue-haired male ramble on words he didn't care to process. Instead, his eyes snuck frequent looks to his blonde target. Then to his surprise, their eyes met. Or so he'd thought. An instant and visible predatory gleam shined in those lying brown eyes. And that's when he noticed her gaze was not pointed to him but rather Bora.
And he caught on.
The pink-haired male grinned widely and looked down to the one-sided chatter. "I hear you go to school with Miss Heartfilia." The 40-year old mentioned, sipping his drink.
"Same class actually." Natsu smiled, holding his glass in front of him, "Nice girl."
"Beautiful too." The politician chuckled, sneaking a look back to the blonde goddess. "Very beautiful. And very young."
Natsu eyed the man at the perverted undertones. "Yes she's quite a sight." He sipped his champagne as Bora continued to stare with absolutely no humility.
"So what brings you here Dragneel boy?" Bora looked back up to the striking male.
"A trade." He smiled, "The old man sent me here in his place."
"Don't bother." Bora chuckled.
Natsu lifted his brows, "And why is that?"
The old politician wheezed out a chuckle, "Because." He leaned in closer, staring at the glass in his hand. "It's all blood money. All of their connections lay in the mob now." He snickered, "It's no better than asking to make a fair agreement with the Godfather. You know what I mean? That perfect image is just a mask. In reality," He lifted his brows with a nodding laugh, "Jude Heartfilia is the most dangerous man alive."
Before Natsu could respond, a feminine voice chimed in. "Having fun boys?" Lucy radiantly appeared in front of them with a blinding smile. "Nice to see you Mr. Bora." She looked up to her pink-haired guest with testing glint. She nodded at him, seeing he returned the same dark gleam. "Mr. Dragneel."
Natsu grinned at her true color blackening the soul in her eyes. Yet as soon as she faced Bora again, the pitch black hole was filled with a temporary light.
Lucy got close to the blue-haired man. Very close. Her fingers wrapped around his bicep, squeezing gently, "How is your campaign?" She smiled, "Father says you have been doing an impressive job in the polls."
Bora was visibly thrown off by her touch. He cleared his throat with a perverted grin nearly drooling off of his lips. "I have." He sipped his bitter drink, feeling her nails lightly crawl over his fabric. "How is business going with your father?"
Lucy hummed, "There's rumors circulating, it's giving Father a hard time." She tilted her head with a sigh, "I just hope he will be able to work through this. The company does mean a lot to him."
"Yes…" Bora said with a snicker as he took another sparkling sip. "And what about your father's love life? There are rumors circulating that as well. That he has a young beautiful lover."
Lucy smiled but Natsu could see the coldness hidden behind it. "Father has no lover." She stole Bora's cup and winked at the man. "Only toys."
"Natsu?" A voice sang from beside the handsome leader. All three pairs of eyes looked toward the source and saw a heavily attractive blonde stand before him. "My, don't you look good."
She was young but older than him. A beautiful specimen nonetheless. "Jenny." Natsu smiled down to the big-breasted woman. "It's be a while, hasn't it?"
Jenny grinned, "It has." She leaned into him, "I'm afraid in your absence, I've found myself a lover."
"Isn't that too bad." Natsu chuckled, his eyes never leaving that large chest.
Jenny noticed his interest and a sensual smile crawled over her lips. "Though nobody quite satisfies like you." She chuckled, letting go of him, "Give me a call if you want play, okay?" She winked, walking away.
The other members of Natsu's party watched the scene from afar, crowing the snack table. Sting stuffed a couple of treats into his mouth as he watched the blonde mistress leave Natsu's side. "Why does he get older women too?" The male was nearly in tears, "All I want is one. Just one!"
"Quit whining." Erza hissed at the blubbering drunk, "We need to figure out why that bitch invited us here in the first place."
"What if she didn't really have a motive?" Gray interjected as he poured himself some more wine. "Right now, she hardly seems to want to bother with us." He said pointing to the blonde heiress as she completely ignored Natsu and walked into the crowd with Bora attached to her hip.
The gang was silent, thinking over the theory. They watched as their leader was quickly bombarded with other women and men. "She might just be trying to get Natsu's interest." Mira suggested, "It could benefit them both if they start good relations now. Their families both rival when it comes to who has the most power. Once they take over their companies, they could initially create the most powerful collaboration in history."
"And she creates this interest by threatening us and beating him in a game of chess?" Loke spoke, "I hardly doubt what she wants from us is Natsu's trust."
"Then what do you think it is?" Laxus growled at the cocky ginger.
Loke pushed with glasses with a sigh, "I have no idea." He grinned, "The Heartfilias are quite great when it comes to keeping a secret."
The gang members didn't respond, only sipping their drinks as there was no statement truer than that.
Natsu walked around the enormous castle in search of his golden prey. Constantly, the handsome male seemed to be bombarded with people, all infatuated with the young and powerful boy.
The pink-haired teen moved his eyes to his current conversationalist, "That's interesting." His moves curved in a fake smile as he hadn't the slightest idea of what the topic was.
Then, his onyx eye caught onto something. Something blonde. Something gold. Without hesitation, he handed his glass to the man, rudely moving past him and toward Lucy. Though, to his surprise, when he approached the blonde she was not only a he, but also her own father.
Natsu lifted his eyebrows at the sight of Jude Heartfilia. Now he had a real face to put to that widely-known name.
The man seemed to be chuckling with the people but he wasn't nearly as popular as his daughter had been. He had a different demeanor to him. One that didn't scream mystery as much as it did evil. Just one look to him and it was almost obvious the man wasn't someone to be trusted. He was the complete opposite of Lucy. It was almost amazing.
One of the men snickered, "Lucy has turned into a beautiful woman."
Jude licked his lips into a grin at the sentence, "She has always been blessed with extraordinary genes." The man joked, "The child can thank me for that."
The group laughed at the comment. It was silent for a moment until the blonde was brought up yet again. Lucy just seemed to be the center of attention at this point. "Where is that marvelous girl?" Another male asked.
The blonde CEO smiled, "I believe I saw her retiring to her room." He sipped the rest of his bubbling drink. "Even with the body of a woman, she's still a child. Parties like these usually exhaust her."
And Natsu immediately turned around.
He strolled around the complex and searched for the stairs. The way up seemed to be very dark, obviously symbolizing this area was not welcomed to guests. But the pink-haired delinquent hadn't the slightest respect for such… suggestions.
He walked up the steps, examining the wall at the end as the stairs split in two. A large portrait was there, barely illuminated enough for him to see. He recognized Lucy, smiling as beautifully as ever, then Jude… then two other girls. A young one with blue hair in which he could only assume was Wendy Heartfilia. Then another blonde woman. One who almost looked identical to Lucy. For a moment Natsu contemplated if this whole time there's always been two twin Lucys. One innocent one and one evil one and he'd just been too blind to tell.
But then he regained his sanity and presumed it must've been her mother.
A beautiful family, indeed.
Without paying much thought to the painting, he continued to the right flight of stairs and entered a corridor. It was quiet and dark. Almost hard to believe 4 people lived here all by themselves. The mansion was ridiculously large. And ridiculously lonely.
Natsu's eyes quickly adjusted to the darkness, illuminated by the moonlight shining through the windows. He dug his fingers into his pockets as he strolled along the hallway. The path seemed like it had no end. So long. How did anyone get anywhere in this place without passing out from exhaustion?
It probably explained why Lucy's body was as visibly tempting as it was. With these constant mile-long walks, anyone's body would be fit.
Then, voices.
Natsu lifted his brows at the sudden noise and looked around calmly. He stood against the wall shadowed over by a large stack of shelves. The voices got louder and louder.
"No! I don't care what sissy says!" Wendy shouted as Evergreen pulled her by the wrist, forward down the hall. "Only daddy can tell me what to do! Lucy's such a bossy pants!"
Natsu nodded in agreement at the small girl's insult.
Evergreen sighed at her small master's constant pulling. "Miss Wendy you mustn't disrespect your sister." She lectured lightly, "The young mistress is only trying to protect you."
"From what!" Wendy hissed immediately, "Lucy-nee's been mean ever since mama got sick! Sissy never visits mom anymore! Sissy never plays with me either! She-she just turned into a jerk! Like daddy!"
Natsu lifted his brows, constantly nodding at the rapid argument in total understanding.
"Please do not give your father nor your sister a hard time. It will only put them both in a worse mood." Evergreen almost said in a moan.
The two appeared in front Natsu and the boy stared at the younger girl. She was beautiful. Young and fragile like a porcelain doll. The Heartfilia genes must've been drenched in perfection.
He could only imagine what Lucy looked like at her age.
Then he met them. The girl's brown eyes.
Wendy went silent at the sudden appearance of a handsome pink-haired prince.
Natsu grinned and lightly tapped his lips with his pointer finger, hushing her lightly. He winked and the small girl enflamed her cheeks with a pink blush.
"Young mistress?" Evergreen looked down to the stalled girl.
Wendy immediately looked away and ran forward, "L-let's go see mommy!"
Natsu waited until their footsteps became almost inaudible before stepping out of his rather vulnerable hiding spot. He looked down the hallway where the two girls came from and then the other way where they seemed to be going. Then he took a step.
. . .
Sting walked up the stairs, losing trace of Natsu. He let out a sigh and contemplated whether he should venture forward or not. "Did ya lose 'im?" Gajeel hollered from the bottom of the steps, Erza, Gray, and Cana at his side.
The blonde looked back to his companions, "Where's the others?"
"Keepin an eye out for Miss blonde of a bitch." Cana said as she walked up the long number of stairs.
"I'm pretty sure she went up here." Sting looked up to the split steps. "Natsu followed. I don't know what the hell either of them are thinking."
"Does anyone?" Gray pat Sting on the back as the three started walking up the right wing. "Let's check it out."
Sting contemplated it for a moment as the trio bravely ventured the forbidden chambers of their most formidable foe. Not like he would ever admit it, but Lucy intimidated him. Not like any of them would admit to that. But it seemed the curiosity of her tempting mystery seemed to overpower any type of fear.
And thus the four began to deepen their tracks further into the Heartfilia pit of secrets.
They walked with a far more careless air than one should when infiltrating an enemy's base. Though one shouldn't expect much from a group of thugs.
Their eyes gazed at the walls, viewing the family portraits and several expensive paintings. Everything was so visibly appealing, so visibly high class.
Rich bitches, they all thought with Natsu's equally extravagant mansion in mind.
Then, suddenly, they saw a light creep out of a cracked door as they turned the corner. The silence slowly began fading into muffled sounds the closer they approached the obviously occupied room. The four started fighting each other as to who would be the one to peek in.
Sting started pushing everyone aside and closed a single eye, getting a glimpse of inside the crack.
There he saw a bed and as he moved his head, he saw their blonde nemesis sitting on it as beautiful as ever. He lifted his brows as he saw Bora approach the female. He seemed to be undoing his tie but before his fingers could fumble through it properly, Lucy's fingers pulled onto it and brought him close.
Her eyes were dimmed in a dark and sexual glow. So incredibly seductive. Sting couldn't look away. She looked like she had done this a million times. Sculpted her skills into perfection. The blond peep licked his lips, wanting a taste of such a refined woman.
Gajeel pushed the lusting boy aside and snuck a peek for himself. Then the four found their heads piled on top of each other, all getting a small glimpse of the sexy scene.
Bora's eyes were glazed over with such a blinding desire it was almost frightening. He stared at her but Lucy was the first to make a move. She leaned forward and kissed him. Their lips gripped lightly but the blonde was quick with her movements.
Her fingers started unbuttoning his jacket, slipping it off his arms. The man was eager. Very visibly eager as his hands moved all over Lucy's beautiful body. Their spectators were all staring with jaws to the floor. They couldn't believe the actual scandal their eyes were witnessing. Bora, the leading candidate for the presidential election, fucking a 17 year old heiress. Not only that but Lucy Heartfilia.
Sure the girl had a body more sinful than Satan's entire persona but they thought that was a mask.
They couldn't tell what was real about her anymore.
But was anything actually real about her in the first place?
"You're experienced." Bora grinned widely as the blonde was straddled over him. Lucy removed his tie with her teeth and gave a low and viciously sexy growl. Immediately, the nubile heiress felt his groin harden against her.
"You too." Lucy grinned. She moved her hands up his shirt and to his hands. Her lips were so close to his. She could feel him quivering, desperately yearning for her delicious mouth. He leaned forward but she avoided the attack with a sly smile. "Bora..." She hummed, rubbing against his bursting cock. "... Say my name."
The diplomat's eyes were glossed over. He'd forgotten what true lust was. To completely lose your mind and your self-control all in desire. What a dangerous girl... absolutely terrifying. "Lucy..." He said it in a low tone, attempting to seduce her, "... My dear, dear Heartfilia."
He attempted to reach up and grab the girl and start this heavily anticipated fuck but he found himself unable. Shocked by his sudden immobilization, he looked up and saw his hands fastened firmly to the headboard by his tie. Then his eyes darted toward Lucy who was wiping her lips, removing herself from his lap. "What is this?" He asked, almost in a hiss.
"I believe that's my question." Lucy said, picking up a newspaper from the corner table and throwing it onto his body. Bora looked down and widened his eyes seeing the headline: Heartfilia Has More Secrets Than We Think! Our Favorite Family May Just Be Our Worst Enemy! "Why don't you explain to me exactly what this is."
The man stared at the ink and then to his almost-lover who now had a deep, deep darkness swirling in those once radiant brown eyes. The sudden change brought him to a choked silence. But not for long. He fumbled his words, "W-What..." He shook his head, "What the fuck is going on? You think I have something to do with this? You stupid bitch, you've got the wrong guy!"
"You're not wrong." Lucy said calmly, leaned up against the table. In her hand was a glass in which she poured some champagne into. "Actually, the Heartfilia ties go very deep. Very deep." She swirled the bubbling liquid around, "But I'm already certain you're aware." Lucy looked up to him, "After all, Jose has an awfully big mouth."
Bora swallowed but did not let his firm expression waver. "So what?" He shook his head, "Did daddy order you to kill me or some shit?"
"Kill?" Lucy snickered, shaking her head. "Nonsense, Mr. Bora we do not want to sever our ties with you. After all, you are a large contributor to our business."
The man paused for a moment, "What do you mean?"
Lucy grinned, wide and malicious like the chesire cat. She threw a couple more papers his way. It scattered all over him but the message was the same no matter the sheet. Bora looked and saw several names and profiles of young girls and their pictures. "Over 50 child prostitutes." The blonde couldn't hold back her light chuckling. "You've really outdone yourself old man."
Bora looked over the papers in disbelief. All of the information was here. Every single girl. Every single one. "T-This means nothing." He hissed, "Jose would never allow this to pass through the media. He would have you dead before you let out such confidential information on one of the members."
Lucy nodded slowly, "Perhaps that would be true." She put down her glass, "But unfortunately, Jose is no longer in charge of it. Jose..." She bowed her head as though she were praying, "Bless his soul."
Bora widened his eyes. "... Bitch." He growled, "You're clever kid, I'll give you that. But all this is, is fucking papers. You don't have shit on me." He tilted his head with a grin, "What's your next move?"
"Testimonies." Lucy lifted a brow, throwing a manilla folder onto him. Bora growled, where the fuck was she pulling all of these papers out of? The blonde walked forward and sat beside him, opening the folder. She licked her finger and flipped through the papers. "Annie Doreen. Kidnapped at age 9. Claims it was you who stole her virginity and oh, look here..." She brought the paper to him, "Says you even led the kidnapping."
"Lies!" Bora nearly shouted, "I had nothing to do with your dirty work!"
"Now, now, Bora. I assure you that I had no part in the kidnapping." Lucy grinned, "I merely give and take information."
Bora glared hard. How dare this child patronize him... threaten him!
"You think the media will believe you? By the time I'm done, everyone will know where the Heartfilia's money really comes from." Bora nearly bit at her. "And these girls... you think they'll be loyal to you. Sure I fucked them, but you... you're the one who stole their lives. Once this investigation opens, they'll find out everything. Those girls will fess up. The Underworld will sell you out. You haven't a single fucking friend in the whole industry. Everything will just come crumbling down on you." Bora spit, "You have a long way to go, kid. This is a game for adults, not little bitches like you."
Lucy was silent for a moment. "I wouldn't worry about those girls." The blonde stood up, "Let's just say slaves always follow their Masters." The teen lifted her glass, tilting her head, "And I've held the chains for a very long time."
Bora watched as Lucy strode to the door. The teens behind it backed up and nearly gasped, feeling their heads knock into something. "And one thing you fail to see is that I don't need friends in the Underworld." Lucy sipped her glass, "Not when I own it."
The gangsters looked up and felt their souls escape their hollow bodies at the sight of the Underworld's infamous King. Ren Akatsuki. And his Mafia. He looked at them. His glowing gaze piercing through the darkness. A gaze deadly enough to make them gulp.
But instead of gutting them, he ignored them.
Ignored.
As though they held no power that could threaten him.
Ren opened the door and Lucy's voice became more clear. "I do hope you see it my way." She hummed as Ren strolled in with his men. "So then, Bora..." Lucy snickered, "What's your next move?"
The thugs watched in disbelief. Ren... it almost seemed like was under Lucy's command. The King of Hell was a slave to Heartfilia's heiress. So then... just what did that make Lucy?
The blonde looked to the crack of the door and immediately caught the gaze of her three peeps. Her hand gripped onto the door handle and she gave them a grin. A nice grin. A grin they knew too well. And she placed her finger on her lips, winking with a small hush. And then shut the door.
And all that followed was muffled shouting and their own shocked silence.
Evil.
Lucy... she was another kind of evil.
. . .
At one point, Natsu had gotten lost following the young girl and her maid. The corridors were ridiculous, even his house wasn't this much of an unsolvable maze. But, while searching for simply the exit, he came across an opening door. It was large. Double doors that were white with golden handle. It might've been the biggest set of doors in the whole building aside from their castle-like entrance.
Wendy's voice reached his ears and the boy hid against the wall once more. He watched as the blue-haired child turned left, meeting with maid who seemingly waited outside. He lifted his brow. Not even the staff was allowed inside. The pink-haired bachelor wondered just how sick her mom was, it was almost as if they were quarantining her from the rest of the world.
And of course that only peaked his interest.
As the duo's voices faded, Natsu looked up and down the hall for more bodies. Once cleared, he moved toward the large barricade. He looked up at it. Examining it. There was nothing special about it, aside from the size. Though, for some reason, it intrigued him greatly. Something was definitely strange around here. The Heartfilias had many secrets. But it felt like they were hiding one in particular.
His fingers hovered over the handle. He stared at it with a pretty vague expression. Slowly, his fingers wrapped around it and he pressed the latch down. Pushing forward, he was shocked that they left it unlocked.
As he tried cracking it open more to view the room, he found the barricade being slammed shut. He blinked, questioning for a moment if this mansion was also haunted. But as soon as he looked down, he met the dangerous gaze of his most sought after enemy. Lucy.
"Stalking is a bad quality." The blonde whispered, her arm pressing the door down. "It could get you in big trouble."
Natsu grinned and licked his lips. "And why is that?" He leaned forward and instantly saw her take a hesitant step back. "Hiding something?"
"I'm always hiding something." She hummed, "You should know that by now."
Natsu stared at her. His eyes glowed through the darkness. Like a snake's. Narrowed and intent on strangling his prey. He sipped his drink, staring at her with a very obvious dark lust. He leaned against the door, his eyes groping her in every which way. Up and down, stopping right at her breasts then looking seductively back into those brown galaxies. "Did you fuck him?" He asked, catching her off guard. His hand leaned forward and she stepped back into the wall. With a sly grin, his thumb rubbed over the hickey painted over her neck.
"If I say yes?" She lightly traced her fingers over his, "Would you get jealous?"
"No." Natsu grinned. He stepped forward and cornered her into the wall. "You strike me as a girl who wouldn't do such things without a motive." Natsu leaned down, his face hovering hers. He leaned his elbow over head and gave her a smug grin. "You're certainly not much of a romantic."
Lucy held onto her unwavering gaze quite well. She leaned up, their noses and lips nearly touching. "You don't know a thing, Mr. Dragneel." Her whisper nearly made him shudder.
"Oh but I do." He whispered back. His eyes glossed over with their cocky gleam. "I know you're hiding something." His hand slammed into the door, causing his current prey to jump. "And it's behind this door."
Lucy tilted her chin up, "I'm afraid you're not as clever as you may think."
"Is that right?" He hummed with a grin and came to a full stand. His stand was confident. That was something Lucy took note to. Very large and tall, as though he was made to be a King. "Then open it."
Lucy was silent. Her gaze was no longer mocking. It was sour and god did it amused Natsu greatly. "You should take your pets and leave." She said, "You're all going to end up somewhere you don't want to be."
"But I do believe it's you who invited us. Personally, if i remember correctly." Natsu hummed darkly. He grinned, his white sharp teeth gleaming with the moon's light. "You know what I think?" He got close again. Teasing her. Mocking her. Getting right under her skin. "I think you want this. And I think you're playing this game on purpose. But perhaps not for the reasons you've convinced yourself of." His fingers caressed her neck and then slowly, his single finger went down. It trailed down her collarbone and in-between her large breasts. And he paused, pointing at her heart. "It's because we both know, I'll be the one to tame you."
Lucy moved his hand and felt herself being pinned against the wall. "I don't need to play the game." She whispered, her breaths brushing up against his lips. "You guys are moving the pieces all on your own. I'm just waiting for you to fall into place."
"Are you setting a trap?" Natsu snickered, their lips rubbing against each other but not necessarily exchanging a kiss. "Because," He whispered into her ear, "Right now, it looks like you're the one who's in my hands."
Lucy stared at him.
There was lust in his eyes. Just like there was lust in every man's eyes. But these were different. His arousal didn't come just from her body, it came from somewhere darker and more twisted. They looked exactly like her eyes.
The blonde leaned forward. Natsu grinned at her initiation and instantly leaned in as well. But was shocked when his lips met her finger and not her mouth. Lucy stared at the floor, covering his sinful mouth. "Not you." The blonde turned away and walked out of his grasp. He watched as she moved down the hallway, without even a second glance. "Have a nice night, Mr. Dragneel."
The pink-haired boy watched in a silent and disappointed awe as she disappeared down the hallway. Natsu looked up at the barricades. The doors. Unlocked and now unguarded. Natsu grinned. He shook his head and walked away from the chamber of secrets. "Another time then."
Lucy listened at the end of the hall, hearing his footsteps grow quiet. He didn't enter the room. The blonde's demeanor was caught off guard. By a simple boy. She rubbed her arms as her footsteps started again. She was chilled. For the first time she was chilled. Nervous.
Excited.
A smile was on her face as she entered her room. She looked at the new chess set at the edge of her room and she laughed as she picked up the king piece. This guy... this guy was simple. But had drilling eyes. He could see her holes, her weak spots, the things that would make her tick. It was impressive. Not a soul had seen through her mask before. Not like this.
"Natsu..." She placed him on the board. On the other side was the Queen. She watched the two pieces face each other. "I'll play for a bit." The blonde sat in her chair and stared at the board with a long, amused hum. "Chess is always better with two players anyway."
DUN DUN DUUUUUNNNNNNNNN.
Just to clear up what happened, pretty much this is where Lucy has finally seen Natsu as an equal. Before he and her dad were just pieces but she's starting to realize he's a lot more than that. HE'S THE OTHER PROTAGONIST OF THIS STORY! Wow. Anyway, so it's been a while.
Sorry for the lack of updates. I say that a lot. I have a job and school and unfortunately it's harder to balance when I do this in my free-time and still have to make money to live. Anyway, I'm thinking about starting a just to help me out and make the updates a lot faster plus people would get other features. But idk. I don't want to pressure my readers to pay me for FANFICTIONS. Which, I have nothing against writers who do. I dunno, I'm at a crossroads.
But thanks for being patient. Love y'all. Byyyeeee.
