Chapter 8

Artermis' POV

Present time...

I hear a faint knock and expecting to see Thalia and one of the other girls I say "come in" when I look up from what I am doing I see the enraged face of none other than Percy.. He has a look of complete disgust on his face and I wonder what could have happened to make this come about. "Percy sit down and please tell me what is the matter" I say gently motioning for him to sit in the seat across from me.. but he just begins to pace about my tent muttering under his breathe. I wait for him to gather his thoughts and think about Lucy, she is one of our youngest undetermined hunters that we rescued from her abusive father that not only abused her Step-mother who we managed to save but she died shortly afterwards due to the immense injuries that she endured so that her step-daughter would not...she was a brave women who I wished I could have been able to save... Lucy is a restless sleeper even for a daughter of... (* IM going to let you guys determine what Goddess you want to mother Lucy) When I think back to the day that we happened upon the alleyway...I can not bear to think about what would have happened if we had not heard that scream...that ear piercing blood boiling scream...

Flashback

"Thalia, Girls stay close!" We run through the woods close behind the monster that we are hunting, slowly gaining on it. We continue running until we reach a clearing and I pause to let the younger girls catch their breath, when I look around so that we can continue the hunt, the beast is gone, no prints to track, nothing...almost as if on purpose. My gut is telling me that something is wrong...off. We keep on walking, hoping to re-stumble on the prints of the monster that we are hunting. After about 15 Minutes of walking, most of the younger girls are starting to become sore and tired...which is understandable because they are not immortal like the rest of the girls until they decided to take their oath.. until then they remain non-immortal but received my blessing.

Right as I am about to flash myself and the girls back to where we had set up camp...we hear a blood boiling, ear pericing scream coming not 50 meters away from where we were...seconds later we hear another...younger...fragile even..

End Flashback...

"Artermis, Artermis"...my name breaks me from my thoughts, I had almost forgotten that Percy was sitting in my tent waiting for my answer. "Did you know how badly the nightmares that Lucy have been having troubling her?" A sincere look of concern shows on his face, and I know he knows what she is going through...after all he still suffers from intense nightmares himself...and he no longer has the support of Annabeth to help him...after all she use to experience the same nightmares...no one use to be able to console them but themselves...they did not need any comfort other than the fact that the other was safe...Considering how long they spent in that awful horrid place...*
