At first Elena froze, she had been thinking about this moment for so long and now it was finally happening she didn't know how to react. However when she felt Stefan's lips on hers all her thoughts drifted away. Elena started to kiss him back, innocently at first. Her lips felt like they were burning, she almost wanted to push him away because the sensation was too strong. However she did just the opposite, she deepened the kiss.
Stefan's hands were resting on her waist and her hands were in his hair, lightly tugging. Stefan had never had a kiss like this before in his life, this is the kind of kiss you read about in books. It was perfect and he never wanted it to stop. Stefan slipped his tongue into her mouth, turning their innocent kiss into a passionate make out. They started walking backwards until Elena's back was against the wall of her cabin. Stefan's hands were now moving up and down her body, almost like he was exploring.
After a few minutes they had to pull back for air, after all they were human and they needed air to survive. They both panted for breath as they pulled away, feeling great but also out of breath.
"That was." Elena gasped.
"Wow." Stefan finished her sentence before her. Suddenly they were both giggling, if anyone saw them they would think that they were drunk. They were just drunk off each other.
"I should go back inside, I don't want Caroline waking up and seeing I'm not there." Elena sighed. She didn't want her to get the wrong idea.
"Okay, goodnight." Stefan pulled her in for one last kiss and then they both went back into their cabins. It's safe to say they would both dream of each other that night.
They were some things they both wouldn't forget, good and bad. For Elena she would never forget being told her Aunt was murdered; she would never forget the way her mum fell to her knees and she would never forget her dads face. However, she also wouldn't forget the way she felt after seeing her favourite artists live, she felt free, she felt like she belonged. For those few hours she had a place where no one could judge her, no one could expect too much from her, she would just free to be happy. For Stefan, he would never forget being told that his mom left him; he would never forget how he felt afterwards, he would never forget blaming himself for her departure. However, he would also never forget the way he felt when he was surrounded by beautiful nature, he felt free and at peace, like he wanted to never leave. There where some things they would never forget and both of them would never forget their first kiss.

Elena woke up with a wide smile on her face, she swore she could hear the birds outside singing. She wanted to dance, she just woke up and she wanted to break out into some salsa dance. Elena jumped out of her bed with a wide smile on her face and woke up her best friend. Caroline groaned for a couple of minutes but was instantly awake when she saw how happy her best friend looked.
"Okay. One, you woke up before me. Two, you woke up with a huge smile on your face. Either you had an amazing sex dream about Stefan or something happened, so spill." Caroline demanded.
"Okay, so. I couldn't sleep last night so I decided to go for a walk. It turns out Stefan couldn't sleep too because when he was coming out the same time I was. And we kissed!" Elena and Caroline shriek. "Oh Caroline, it was honestly like a movie. We both ran to each other and as soon as we met half way we kissed, and it was amazing. I've never been kissed like that ever. All we needed was some rain and it would have been a movie first kiss." Elena explainsed. Elena felt as if she could spend hours talking about how amazing it was.
"Elena I'm so happy for you! Does this mean you're dating now?" Caroline asked.
"I don't know, I'm going to speak to him today about that." Elena replied, still smiling.
"I love that you're happy, but I have to ask. What's going to happen at the end of the summer?" Caroline asked and Elena's smile faded. She hadn't thought about that. They literally lived half a world away.
"I don't know. I'm just going to live in the moment. I'm going to spend this 6 weeks with him and whatever happens, happens." Elena shrugged and Caroline looked at her cautiously.
"Okay, but I don't want you to get your heart broken." Elena just nodded at Caroline's words.
"I won't! Now let's go eat I'm starving." Elena complained which made Caroline laugh. They quickly got dressed and headed over to the food hall. Stefan was already there, sat at their usual table. When Elena saw Stefan she lightly blushed and smiled at the ground, Stefan had a shy smile on his face too and Caroline swore it was the most adorable interaction she had ever seen.
"Hi." Elena smiled once she sat down.
"Hi." He replied back. Elena's lips still felt tingly, even more so now she had seen Stefan again. All she wanted to do is lean over the table and kiss him. Klaus sat down at their table and was grumbling to himself.
"What's up?" Stefan asked, confused. He wouldn't normally sit with them.
"They're all doing my bloody head in. Elijah won't stop talking about Katherine and Lexi keeps complaining with you. Mate, I don't know how you were ever friends with that girl." Klaus complained. Elena and Caroline both noticed he used a lot of english slang, that was something they'd ask him later.
"Why was Elijah talking about Katherine?" Caroline asked.
"Because they were having a fling. Elijah started to want more but Katherine didn't. He keeps going on about her showing him a side to her no one has ever seen." Klaus groans. Elena and Stefan were still sharing glances and finally Klaus picked up on it. "What's going on with you two?" Klaus asked them, which made both of their cheeks flushed.
"They had an epic kiss." Caroline told him, which made Elena shout her name.
"Fina-fucking-ly. Was it the perfect moment you wanted?" Klaus asked which made Stefan shout his name. Both Caroline and Klaus were getting scolded and it just made them laugh even more.
"Klaus, can you help me move this thing in my room?" Caroline asked sweetly, wanting to give Stefan and Elena some time alone.
"Sure, but we can't be too long. We're going diving." Klaus winked at them all and then he and Caroline walked away.
"Walk with me?" Stefan asked and Elena nodded. They were walking to the waterfalls, which was becoming their place. Elena felt giddy, she was excited to be spending some time alone with Stefan, even if it was only for 10 minutes.
As soon as they sat down Stefan leaned towards her and captured her mouth in a kiss. Elena quickly responded and started moving her mouth with his. They pulled back and looked into each others eyes.
"What are we doing here Stefan?" Elena asked.
"I'm here to ask you if I can take you on a date, tonight. It won't be anything amazing since we can't leave the camp but I promise i'll make it worth your time." Stefan asked, he really wanted her to say yes.
"Yes, anything with you will be amazing." Elena smiled and he kissed her once again. They made their way back to camp were they saw Klaus and Caroline waiting for them.
"Come on love birds, we've gotta start walking now." Klaus told them.
"Are we really going diving?" Elena asked, hoping her voice didn't give away how scared she was. Diving means she has to jump, which means she has to fall, and she absolutely hates falling.
"Yes, it's about an hours walk so we need to hurry up." Klaus told her and Elena groaned, the only thing she hates more than falling is walking. Stefan looked at her apologetically and she shrugged.
For the first half an hour Elena walked with Caroline, she told her about Stefan asking her on a date and Caroline was non stop telling Elena how she's already got the perfect outfit planned in her head. Stefan was planning the date in his head and he finally worked out a plan, he texted Damon to ask for a few things and then went to walk beside Elena.
"Are you currently planning Klaus' demise in your head right now?" Stefan joked.
"Totally, I'm thinking a stake through the heart." Elena joked back which made them both laugh.
"There's only like half an hour to go." Stefan assured her.
"Was that supposed to cheer me up?" Elena groaned.
"I could carry you if you like?" Stefan suggested.
"Please." Elena laughed, thinking he was just joking. Stefan picked up Elena and threw her across his shoulder. Elena started giggling and Stefan was trying not to look at her butt, which was right next to his face.
Caroline glanced over towards her friend and smiled when she saw her with Stefan, she really hoped that her summer wouldn't end in heartbreak.
"They're cute together aren't they?" Caroline asked Klaus, it was more of a statement though.
"I guess." Klaus shrugged and Caroline rolled her eyes. Men, she thought.
"You know, you don't have to be such a stereotypical manly man. They're cute, admit it." Caroline argued.
"Fine. They're cute." Klaus admitted. He felt like Caroline was going to be the one to test his limits, but he's excited for that to happen.
"Stefan you can put me down now." Elena laughed. He had been carrying her for 10 minutes and Elena was seriously surprised at how strong he must be.
"Fine." Stefan reluctantly put her down, he liked having her in his arms somehow, even if it did mean his arms were now aching.
"You're really strong." Elena thought out loud.
"Yeah I am." Stefan teased and then flexed his muscles. "It comes in handy." Stefan whispered into her ear, suddenly feeling brave. Elena felt goosebumps covering her skin, just his words can make her feel like putty in his hands. Elena looked up to see Stefan widely grinning at her, she playfully pushed him backwards.
After 20 long minutes of walking they were finally at their destination, and Elena has never regretted something so much. She thought when Klaus said said diving he meant they were going somewhere with professionals who knew what they were doing but no, he meant a bunch of cliffs with water at the bottom.
"There's no way we're doing this! Back me up Caroline, you hate heights!" She shouted, she was using anger to cover up the fact that she's scared.
"Actually, going rock climbing kind of got rid of my fear." Caroline sheepishly whispered.
"What? That's ridiculous. You can't have a fear your whole life then suddenly not have it!" Elena shouted.
"Caroline, Klaus. Give us a moment." Stefan said and they both walked to stare at some rocks. "Elena what's wrong? I know I've only known you a couple of weeks but I know you well enough to know that whenever you're feeling weak you cover it up by being angry." Stefan spoke and Elena was shocked at how well he actually knew her. Does she know little things like that about him?
"Falling is kinda my biggest fear." Elena whispered, looking down. She doesn't know why she felt so embarrassed right now but she did. Stefan looked at her curiously, never before has he heard someone say falling is their fear.
"Falling? You mean like heights?" He asked.
"No, I mean falling. I could happily stand on the edge of a cliff and not be scared but as soon as I can no longer touch the grounds surface that's when I get scared. I mean, a lot of people have dreams where they fall and it scares them so much that they wake up sweating." Elena explained. Stefan understood Elena, and knew that her logic was right but he wanted to help her defeat her fear.
"Yeah, but after you fall in your dreams you wake up. The water is there to catch you at the bottom. And I'll be there, waiting for you to fall in my arms incase the water somehow fails." Stefan assured her and she felt like swooning, how can someone be so perfect and know all the right things to say.
"You can't be there to catch me every time I fall." Elena told him.
"I can damn well try." He replied. He would do anything to keep this girl safe.
"Fine, I'll jump off a cliff with you. Only if you go before me." Elena bargained and Stefan agreed. Stefan shouted of Caroline and Klaus and they both walked back over.
"Are we doing this or what?" Klaus asked and Elena hesitantly nodded.
"I'll go first. Then Elena, Klaus and Caroline." Stefan told them all. Suddenly Stefan was undressing and Elena felt her cheeks heat up, she didn't realise they'd be taking their clothes off. When Stefan was wearing nothing but his boxers he winked at Elena, which made her blush even harder. Out of no where he ran and jumped of the cliff, Elena was taken back by his bravery. Once they heard a splash they all looked down and saw Stefan grinning at them.
"Come on Elena!" Stefan encouraged, shouting loud enough so she could hear him. Very hesitantly, she stripped down to just her underwear. Klaus whistled at her which made Caroline hit him and Stefan shout 'I heard that'. Elena was thankful she had decided to wear her matching lacy black underwear set, she would have died if Stefan saw her in underwear that has sheeps on.
She walked to the edge of the cliff and took a deep breath, giving herself a moment to process what she was about to do. She jumped off the edge of the cliff, letting all her thoughts go. The fall down was only a few seconds but if anyone asked she would say it was minutes, maybe even hours. She felt a sinking feeling in her stomach which soon went away when the water engulfed her. Suddenly she felt wild, free, like there was no problems in her life. She didn't lose her aunt, she didn't get attacked by her former childhood friend, she didn't have to worry about any blonde ex girlfriends, she was just free to enjoy the moment.
"That was amazing! Can I do it again!" Elena giggled as Stefan swam over to her. Suddenly she felt a strong urge to kiss him, almost like the universe was pulling them together. She didn't care that she could hear Caroline's cheers, she didn't care knowing they were being watched, she just wanted his lips on hers. She kissed him with so much force he almost fell back into the water, he kissed her back with as much strength. Neither one of them thought their first kiss could ever be topped, but they were very wrong.
They were both pulled from their moment as Klaus jumped into the water, splashing them. All 3 of them laughed as water dripped of their bodies. Moments later Caroline was also in the water and they all felt at peace.
Stefan and Klaus were wrestling in the water whilst Elena and Caroline sat on the edge of the swimming hole, dipping their feet into the water.
"That was some kiss earlier." Caroline laughed, making Elena smile at the ground.
"Yeah, it was pretty epic." Elena grinned.
"Just watching that kiss made me think that we could achieve world peace. God I wonder what will happen when you have sex, the sun and the moon will probably collide." Caroline joked. Elena thought about sex with Stefan, if their kisses are that good then the sex must me amazing. Don't think about it right now Elena, she scolded herself.
"Hey! We should all start getting dry and dressed now, we want to be back before it gets dark." Stefan told them and they all got up to get their clothes. Stefan took the time to check Elena out, he had seen her in a towel before but her in her underwear was a whole different sight. It was a better sight, especially with her wet hair falling down her back. He was having a really hard time resisting himself from taking her right now.
Elena was dreading the walk back because no matter what, the journey home always felt longer than the journey there. Maybe it's because they've already been and see what they wanted to see so now they have no reason to be excited. But surprisingly the journey home felt really fast. Maybe it was because she had her date with Stefan tonight.
Soon enough, Elena was back in her room and Caroline was throwing all sorts of products onto her face. Elena assured Caroline that she didn't need makeup, Stefan had already seen her without it so what's the point, but Caroline told her to shut up and continued working her wicked magic. Half an hour later Elena was ready. She had straightened her hair which made a difference from her usual wavy style she had been working ever since she arrived here. She was wearing a white dress which would have made her look innocent if it wasn't for the low cut cleavage line.
"You look so good! Stefan's going to die when he sees you!" Caroline gasped, proud of her work. Elena looked at herself in the mirror and she had to admit that Caroline did a pretty good job. Elena didn't need makeup to be pretty, but it made her look hot.
There was a knock on the door and Elena felt herself become nervous. She didn't know why she was nervous, she had been getting to know him for 2 weeks now and she always felt comfortable in his company. Maybe everything was becoming real now.
She opened the door and Stefan was there, holding flowers. Elena smiled when she saw him, he was dressed in a grey shirt and some jeans.
"Hi." She grinned, her face felt like it was going to break from smiling so hard.
"Hi. These are for you." He told her and then handed her them. They were roses, her favourite flower. Elena asked Caroline to put them in some water and she did so, whilst screaming. They started walking towards the waterfall, Elena thought it was the perfect place for their first date.
When Elena got there she gasped, the sight in front of her almost made her cry. There was a blanket laid on the floor that was covered in roses, candles were surrounding it and there was a picnic basket filled with food. It was simple, but simply beautiful.
"Stefan! This is amazing, thank you so much." Elena spoke with glee, she was amazed by him. It must have taken him a while to set this up and it was all for her.
"You're welcome, I knew you'd like the food." Stefan teased as she went straight to the picnic basket.
"How did you even manage to set all this up?" Elena asked, wondering when he had the time.
"Well my brother runs the camp so I just asked him." Stefan shrugged.
"Your brother knows we're on this date?" Elena asked.
"Yup. He's probably somewhere in the bushes spying on us." Stefan joked and then looked around. For the rest of the date they just talked, about everything. Conversation came so easily for them, but if there was ever a moment of silence it was comfortable. Elena found herself feeling safe with him, she knew she had to thank whoever put this boy in her path. Starting with her mum, she had to thank her mum. Elena just realised she hadn't called her mum once since she arrived at camp, she had been too busy.
"Why did your face suddenly just scrunch up?" Stefan asked. Over the course of the night he had studied all of Elena's facial expressions, he could probably have a conversation with her just with his eyes now.
"I haven't called my mum yet." She told him. Stefan thought about calling his dad but it's no use, he wouldn't care either way.
"We can go into town tomorrow so you'll be able to have service and we can call her then." He assured her.
"Thank you Stefan, you're always my hero." Elena lightly teased, it was true though.
"You're welcome. We should go to sleep, we have a busy day tomorrow filled with phone calls!" Stefan joked, making Elena laugh.
"Okay, goodnight Stefan." Elena walked away but Stefan pulled her back.
"Oh no. You're not leaving without this." Stefan said and then kissed her, their kiss was gentle but filled with passion. "Goodnight Elena Gilbert. Sleep well. Tomorrow's the day I make you my girlfriend." He told her and then walked away. Leaving Elena with a stomach full of butterflies and a wide smile on her face.
