I'll start by giving you like chapter three and slowly replacing the edited version. Those up until this one will just be spell check, grammar. But after that, you could even hit me with things that are wrong with the plot or if I'm getting a cannon thing wrong. Etc Etc. Anyways. Enjoy.
Edit: Wow. Just. If you're able to read this now because luckily my dumbass finally came back to check it you understand this wow
1994
I guess Santa Clause is just not real
And Batman can't fly
And nobodies invincible
Because I know people die
Only momentarily though. A crash resionates through the room and my eyes shoot back open, my vision slowly returning. What I find is- "Jace!" I turn to see Alexander entering the room looking mortified. "What the hell?" Jace has Magnus pinned against the wall.
Jace ony shrugs. "I was curious what was so secretive you had to leave the room. So as the professional member of the Clave I am I went to investigate. Only to find a familiar, confused girl with a creepy man above her and a Warlock about to perform who knows what spell on her." I feel everyone in the room look at me in that moment and blush. He was trying to help her?
Magnus didn't struggle. He kept his calm demenour even as Jace left him defencless. "Wayland, if you would so kindly release me that would be very appreciated." Jace turns from where he had looked at me back to Magnus. "Will you tell me what's going on?" I see Luke as he makes eye contact with the Warlock and if looks could kill. Magnus narrows his eyes at my stepfather. "Yes."
Jace takes a moment, probaby trying to decide if Magnus was lying or not before finally letting him go. Alexander lets out a breath of obvious relief. Magnus stands up straight, not showing any anger for his former restrainment. He simply flattens his clothes. The silence which had filled the room as Magnus assessed his appearance is broken within seconds. "I swear on the angel-" Luke starts but Magnus cuts him off. "You're not a Shadowhunter, remember?"
Luke's face hardens and I flinch. I was going to get it later for this. Whatever this is. Jace seems to catch the movement out of the corner of his eyes because he is now looking at me strangly and making me slightly uncomfortable.
"Then I swear on my my very sharp teeth, if you tell her anything-" Magnus interrupts again. I have already figured that the 'her' in this conversation is me. I doubt Alexander's sister's degree of knowledge in whatever they were discussing had much effect on my step father.
"I'm not scared of you Lucian and you'd be good to remember that. I will not be threatened in my own apartment, especially when I'm doing you a favor. A favor I don't agree with at that. And even more especially after what I just saw." Blue sparks ignite from Magnus' finger tips and I swallow back a startled sound.
"Been a while," Magnus approaches Luke slowly, though with no real hesitation. He truly is not afraid. It was slowness with a purpose. I want to tell Magnus to get away from the much larger man that could very likely snap him like a twig but for some reason stay quiet.
"A long year and a half. Finally got married to Jocelyn. Finally moved in with your new wife and her sweet daughter. Finally got comfortable." Ther wais an edge to the last word I'm not sure I like. I obviously know what he is speaking of, though how he knows it is a mystery. Luke would never tell.
"I'm meddling with her memories if you can recal this fact. I see her mind. And I wasn't in there long. It didn't take long though. I'm sure you know what I saw." More blue sparks shoot from his hands and I do jump this time. Magnus is seeming like he could hold his own more and more with his fire hands. His eyes, cat eyes, meet mine and they are angry. Shining with as much fire as the sparks.
Luke wouldn't seem to have to changed to anyone who didn't know him. But I know the look he has now. It's the look when my Mom says she's five minutes away as he's beating me. Or Simon shows up in the middle of him getting off on me. It's the look of someone who is scared he is going to get caught. "That's none of your buisness Bane," Luke spits, reaching for a last ditch attempt to get Magnus off his back. "Well I'm making it my buisness." The lights flicker and Luke is thrown across the room.
Luke is trying to edge backward as Magnus approaches him again. "And if you do not leave my house right now, it will become everyone in this room's buisness and everyone in the Clave's." I have no idea who Clave is but it seems to shoot something through Luke. I don't think it's fear, but whatever it is has him standing.
The room has an air of suspence in it. I stand as well and Luke grabs my arm. "Fine. You're not the only Warlock who can do as I need-" Luke yelps suddenly and releases me. I turn to find a burn where his hand had previously held me. "Without Clary." Magnus glares. I am in to much shock to do much more than stand there. "You can't-" Magnus holds up his hand again threateningly. Obvious message, get out. "But wait," I go to follow Luke as he backs away, but a different hand grabs me. I look up to find Alexander. "Please-" "We're not going to hurt you, just shut up," Alexander hisses and I shut my mouth. I am no use to Simon dead.
I watch as Luke leaves, eyes on me the entire time. I can see it. This isn't over.
Alexander releases me and I rub my arm. "God Alec," Jace approaches me. "Rough much." I glance at my arm to find blossoming bruises and then look up to see Alex- Alec apparently, go red. "I- um. I didn't, sorry-" Magnus takes Alec's hand squeezing it. There's a cold sensation and when I look at my arm again, any evidence Alec even touched me is gone. "Alexander was simply keeping Clary from going after him. He doesn't seem to quite know his strength but still," Magnus is looking at Alec affectionatly before Alec suddenly yanks his hand away and steps a bit away. "Yeah," He clears his throat, looking at me. "I didn't mean to do that, just Magnus um-" He stutters a little over the name and I don't even know how such a gay fanfiction moment like this could be happening in such a situation. "Seemed to have a good reason to keep you here," He finishes awkwardly.
Jace looks between the two of them. "Yeah. Okay. Right," He rolls his eyes, moving on. "Now. Since apparently only two out of four of us seem to know what's going on-" "Where's Isab-" "We'll discuss that in a second," Jace doesn't let Alec finish the sentence. "First." He nods to me and Magnus. Magnus looks at me and I just stand there. "I.."
After a full minute goes by of me not saying anything, Magnus ushers me back over to the couch before sitting beside me.
APOV
Magnus shows the girl, Clary, to her seat. As much as Jace's facination with her since we first saw her at Pandemonium annoys the hell out of me, I know this girl needs our help. With Jace's uprising, I'm very surprised he hasn't -guessed- what's going on yet. Then again, he never noticed what my father did to me, his very own parabati.
Clary limped, like her ankle had been twisted, and yet her step father did nothing to help that. He was being horrible to her. He brought her here to get rid of memories. Though I had no idea what that was about, I do know Magnus had said he saw something in them that Luke had done. Since he recently moved in. She is almost as small as I am. When I grabbed her, which I still feel horribly for, make up came off on my hand. It didn't hurt her because -I- bruised her. It hurt because someone else did. I just let them say I did it though. Because I'm not going to call her out on it like that, reveal her secret to everyone. Though I'm about 98% sure Jace is the only one not catching on.
Magnus makes eye contact with me, I am staring pretty hard at the two of them as I'm lost in thought. I only see his cat eyes a moment before I quickly avert my gaze. Just as quickly as I snatched my hand away earlier.
"Both of you, out." I do look up when he says that. What? "What?" Jace says my thoughts aloud. "I want to talk to Clary alone," he nods to the door as he snaps his fingers and opens it. I go to stand up, but Jace grabs my wrist. I flinch as his hands find open wounds. He glances at me, but just pulls me back down. "No. We've got every right to be here." I would not take it that far. "Oh really?" Magnus raises his eyebrows. "Yes," Jace crosses his arms. "She's a Shadowhunter." I could tell all Jace is managing doing as he keeps talking is confusing the poor girl more. "Jace, just come on. Seriously."
I stand back up, yanking my arm away from his second attempt to stop me. "She doesn't even know what a Shadowhunter is!" Magnus shakes his head. "You can come back when I'm done if you insist. But you will -not- overwhelm her. Or you will again be kicked out. Understand?" Clary is obviously not completely okay with this 'talking about her like she isn't in the room' thing. I am just hoping if me and Jace leave, Magnus will talk to her about Luke. The Shadowhunter thing could wait. "Ten minutes," Jace finally allows. "Alec and I are going to Takis for Japanese take out. And we will be back." He walks right out the door.
I look at Magnus, trying to find the words to apologize. But he just shakes his head, a small smile on his face. 'It's okay.' He mouths. I smile weakly back before nodding, hurrying after Jace.
Meanwhile: Magnus tells Clary everything Jocelyn has hid from her in exchange for her telling him everything she has hid from the world.
A/N: Again. Sigh
